Accessing IBM DB2 database

I was wondering if someone can assist with the following. I'd like to start
writing queries in SQL and utilize Management Studio. Does anyone know how to
connect to IBM DB2 database? I've been able to connect to this via Crystal Reports, WINSQL, MS Access. I'm testing the 2014 Express Edition and would love to learn more about SQL.

You are missing some important points - and making some rather grand assumptions. SSMS is a tool that one uses to manage and develop sql server databases (and code). It is not intended to be used to do the same thing for any other vendor - though
it might work to some unknown degree.
And you assume that the sql dialect and techniques used to manage / program DB2 are the same (or very similar) to those used with sql server. You might find someone in these forums who has experience with systems (and versions) of both vendors - but
it is not very likely. So if you intend to learn tsql and sql server, your best approach is to use sql server with SSMS. It is IMO unwise for a novice to attempt to use SSMS to manage a server/database from a different vendor. I'm certain that
basic sql syntax is supported by each vendor's dialect, but more advanced functionality is likely to be very different.

When you use DB2 SQL flavor, the ADF BC use the oracle.jbo.server.DB2SQLBuilderImpl class as an SQLBuilder. This class determines the JDBC driver class name as follows:

(Have a look at the source of the method DB2SQLBuilderImpl.getJDBCDriverClassName(String url) for more details).
It is seen from the log in your first post that the parameter jbo.sql92.JdbcDriverClass is empty. As far as your JDBC URL starts with neither of the prefixes specified above (e.g. your URL starts with "jdbc:as400://"), then you should specify the necessary JDBC driver class in the JBO configuration parameter jbo.sql92.JdbcDriverClass. (You can specify it in the AM configuration parameters or in adf-config.xml).

Database.LoadDataSet() method throwing error while retriving data from IBM DB2 database

Database.LoadDataSet() method is throwing error during retriving data from empty table of IBM DB2 database. It is giving error code "SQL0100W".
“Error Message: 0NO_DATA [02000] [IBM] [DB2 / NT] SQL0100W FETCH, whether there is a line to be UPDATE or DELETE, or of the query result is an empty table .
SQLSTATE = 02000”

Migrating IBM Informix to IBM DB2 Database in SAP Environment

Hi All
I am in the processing of doing a DB migration on 46C. I am migrating from Informix to DB2 UDB 8 on UNIX AIX 5.3 in SAP Enviroment.
I have exported the informix database seccussfully, and I have installed DB2 UDB 8 on the target server with fixpak 9. I have also successfully installed the Central Instance.
I am trying to import the database using R3SETUP with template CEDBMIG.R3S (as advised in the heterogenous copy guide).
The installs gets to 2% and fails with the following error:

Please check the following things
1. You use the Ext-Kernel according to note 646444
2. How does your DBSIZE.TPL look like
   ( Did you adjust it somehow ?)
Some questions :
You mention , that you already successfully installed your CI .
The template CEDBMIG.R3S is for Central installations including the CI .
Any reason why not installing with current DB2 V8 Fixpack 12 ( see note 101809 ) ?
Anyhow , I recommend to open an SAP Service Call .

Status metric for the OEM plugin for DB2 Databases

Hi,
I am doing some testing of the OEM system monitoring plug-in for an IBM DB2 Database. I am starting with some very basic alerts such as when an instance is down. However, it is not working as I would expect. When the instance is stopped using the command db2stop I would expect OEM to determine that the database is down. However, OEM reports a metric collection error and not the database being down.
Does anybody have any experience with DB2 databases and OEM?

By creating Groups for specific targets and authoriizing access to these groups you can have users only "seeing" databases or certain databases and other users only being able to see certain Middleware components etc.

We currently have an DB2 database that will be converted to Oracle. We have developed a web based application using IBM's Net.Data to access the DB2 database. Has anyone converted a Net.Data application for use with Oracle directly of converted the application to something else that would allow access to an Oracle database. Thanks in advance

unfortunately there is no plugin for DB2 on OS/390 or z/OS.
Migrations of DB2 needed to be done with the old Oracle Migration Workbench. But that excluded the OS/390 or z/OS platform:
From the following note in My Oracle Support: Migration from DB2 to Oracle (Doc ID 200288.1):
At the moment there is not a plug-in for DB2 on OS390/zOS.
Starting with SQL Developer 2.1, DB2 databases can be migrated using the SQL Developer Migration Workbench. But the "New Feature List 2.1" at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/sql_developer/files/NewFeatureList21.htm is telling us:
+9. Migrations and Third Party Database Support Third Party Browsing DB2 UDB+
Consult the following My Oracle Support note for further alternatives: Options for Connecting to Foreign Data Stores and Non-Oracle Databases (Doc ID 233876.1)
One chapter in the mentioned note says:
If OMWB cannot be used for the migration then other options include a manual
migration. This could be done using a transparent gateway or generic connectivity
to copy tables, or by loading data into flat files and loading into the Oracle
database using SQL*Loader.

Access DB2 database from IRIX machine.

Since I've never used DB2, and Irix last ten years ago, I feel fully qualified to answer :-)
Get a JDBC driver. Googling for db2 jdbc driver site:ibm.com gives 3860 hits; remove site:ibm.com if you are interested in third party drivers.
Check if your DB2 installation contains the file db2jcc.jar - that seems to be the "DB2 Universal JDBC Driver", apparently a Type 4 driver (type 4 is a Good Thing). I can't find offhand if the driver is a separate product or comes with DB2.

AWM to access objects of IBM-DB2

How can we use AWM 11.1.0.7.0B tool to access the tables and views from DB2 Database (AS-400). To be more specific i want my source objects to be from DB2 Database. Is it possible?
I have installed DRDA Gateway (Transparent Gateway 11.1) however, unable to configure the Gateway.

In general you need to define a view in your Oracle database that refers to the remote tables in the IBM database.
Can OLAP cube load from remote database?
I don't know anything about the Transparent Gateway problem.

IBM DB2 to Oracle Database Migration Using SQL Developer

We are doing migration of the whole database from IBM DB2 8.2 which is running in WINDOWS to Oracle 11g Database in LINUX.
As part of pre-requisites we have installed the Oracle SQL Developer 4.0.1 (4.0.1.14.48) in Linux Server with JDK 1.7. Also Established a connection with Oracle Database.
Questions:
1) How can we enable the Third Party Database Connectivity in SQL Developer?
I have copied the files db2jcc.jar and db2jcc_license_cu.jar from the IBM DB2 (Windows) to Oracle (Linux)
2) Will these JAR files are universal drivers? will these jar files will support in Linux platform?
3) I got a DB2 full privileged schema name "assistdba", Shall i create a new user with the same name "assistdba" in the Oracle Database & grant DBA Privillege? (This is for Repository Creation)
4) We have around 35GB of data in DB2, shall i proceed with ONLINE CAPTURE during the migration?
5) Do you have any approx. estimation of Time to migrate a 35 GB of data?
6) In-case of any issue during the migration activity, shall i get an support from Oracle Team (We have a Valid Support ID)?
7) What are all the necessary Test Cases to confirm the status of VALID Migration?
Request you to share the relevant metalink documents!!!
Kindly guide me in-order to go-ahead with the successful migration.
