Accessing imaq objects using pointers

I defined a CWIMAQ control object in my application's view class using the visual C++ Resource View dialog builder utility. I also defined a generic class to acquire and process the images from the 1428 frame grabber card. When I create the generic class object in the application's view, I pass a pointer to the view to the generic class's constructor.
When the generic class tries to acquire an image using the CWIMAQ object defined in the view using the View pointer I get a windows error.
//MFC view class
CMyView:nInitDialog(....)
m_processImage=new CProcessImage(this);
//generic class
CProcessImage::CProcessImage(CMyView* view)
m_viewPtr=view;
CProessImage::CProcessImage()
m_viewPtr ->
m_cImaqObject.AcquireImage(); //this fails
If I put the AcquireImage function call inside the view it doesn't fail. But then when I try to get my images from the buffer from my genric processing class I get the same error. So I really need to figure out how to access the CCWIMAQ object from other classes. How can I call the AcquireImage function from my worker class?
Thanks for your help

The error message you are getting is the result of a breakpoint being hit. If you run in the debugger, you will see where the breakpoint is in your code. I suspect that you are hitting a breakpoint as the result of hitting an assert in the MFC source code.
Without running this myself, I can only speculate as to the cause. From what you describe, one thing I would look to is whether the view HWND is being created before you attempt to access the control in the failure case. You are hosting the ActiveX control on the view window (even though it doesn't draw). Consequently, the control still needs an HWND (I believe). If the view window has not been constructed, the control cannot be properly hosted. MFC might detect this and assert, causing th
e breakpoint that you are seeing. One way to try this out would be to delay calling into the ActiveX control until you are certain that the view window has been constructed.
Also, I'm having some trouble figuring out what you're showing with the example code you posted. Your code shows 2 constructors, one of which takes the view pointer and one of which doesn't and instead calls m_viewPtr->m_cImaqObject.AcquireImage(); If this latter constructor is the one that fails, how are you initiailizing the m_viewPtr? Another point of confusion for me is that your code shows CMyView:nInitDialog, but CFormView doesn't have an OnInitDialog - do you mean OnInitialUpdate or something else?
If none of this helps, could you post a .zip file with a stripped-down version of your project that demonstrates the problem?

    Hi Dan,
    It is a very rare occurrence when I miss not being able to access an object (object property, really) using the ["name"] notation for objects created using actionscript.
    In MXML the compiler is conveniently adding an attribute to the class with the same name as the id, so you can conveniently refer to it using the [] notation. While we explicitly specify an application container to use, the MXML compiler creates a custom container which is a derivative of the base container and to that it adds properties for the children declared in MXML. I guess it also effectively calls "addElement" for us when  the container is being constructed.
    Your example assumes that using "addElement" to add the button to the application container is the same as declaring a variable (ie property ). It isn't, so there's no point in looking for an property of the name "as3Button" using the [] notation, because it doesn't exist. The container is managing a collection of children in it's display list and that's not the same as being accessible as properties of the container.
    Generally speaking, accessing properties using the ["name"] syntax isn't necessary.
    Paul
    [edit: you may wonder why "addElement" doesn't conveniently also add the "id" attribute to be an property of the container class. Unfortunately, it can't because the container class would need to be dynamic and it's not. A further complication would be that adding properties at runtime would invite naming clashes at runtime with associated mayhem. MXML can do this because the compiler generates the class and can trap name duplication at compile time.
    Great question, BTW.
    -last edit changed my "attributes" to be "properties" in line with Adobe's terminology]

  • Error : Access not possible using "null" objects reference

    Hello.
    i am working with a zbapi.
    i called a external email program in this bapi,everything is working fine over here.
    In webdynpro java they mapped my bapi and starting working from there.
    every functionality is working fine but regarding this email stuff it is showing an error as access not possible using null objects reference.
    where could be the possible error.
    is it in webdynpro or in abap side.

    Raghu,
    You are right. When it comes from the WD Java, may be you are not passing any value at all. You can trace it by these ways.
    1. Check it using SE37, make sure everyhting is fine.
    2. Print all the values that you are passing to the RFC in the execute RFC method().
    3. using ST05 transaction in R/3, enable RFC and SQL trace, check what is passing in between web dynpro and R/3.
    Moreover paste your error message here.
    Thanks,
    Raj.

  • Getting ClassCastException while accessing ServletRequest object.

    Hi,
    I am using weblogic 8.1 sp4 and I am trying to deploy a JSF portal application. When I try to access ServletRequest object, it throws a ClassCastException.
    code snippet -
    ExternalContext externalContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext();
    ServletRequest servletRequest = (ServletRequest)externalContext.getRequest(); // Throws error at this point.
    It works fine if I use PortletRequest instead of ServletRequest. But I am trying to make it independent of portal API. Is there any way by which I can access servletRequest object?
    If I run this application outside portal environment(i.e. only on JSF fraemwork), it works fine.
    Here is the error i get in my browser -

    Kunal,
    A PortletRequest/RenderRequest is not a ServletRequest - the two are not the same and don't share a common superclass or interface other than java.lang.Object. So simple casting like you're doing won't work.
    Are you trying to call a method that is only found on ServletRequest and not on PortletRequest/RenderRequest. If so, you're out of luck. You don't have a ServletRequest object inside the portal, so you can't call methods that aren't on the RenderResponse object.
    If the method(s) you're calling are common to both classes then you can use reflection to access the desired methods and avoid a CCE. A good pattern for this type of situation is "Duck Typing" - a description of Duck Typing in Java can be found here:
    http://www.coconut-palm-software.com/the_visual_editor/?p=25
    Hope that's helpful.

  • How to access an object in a bean

    I am looking for a way to access an object in a bean and make available to the page.
    for example if i have a Bean called User and it contains an attribute Called Company as an attribute in User. Now I have User.getCompany(). and I can do this
    <%User user = request.getUser();
    Company company = user.getCompany();
    request.setAttribute("comp", company); %>
    how do I do this with useBean ?

    I am looking for a way to access an object in a bean
    and make available to the page.
    for example if i have a Bean called User and it
    contains an attribute Called Company as an attribute
    in User. Now I have User.getCompany(). and I can do
    this
    <%User user = request.getUser();
    Company company = user.getCompany();
    request.setAttribute("comp", company); %>
    how do I do this with useBean ?You can access a JavaBean Object property of another JavaBean inside the JSP with the use of EL (Expression Language)
    So if you are using JSP 2.0 or higher try this:
    <jsp:useBean id="user" class="your.package.User" scope="request"/>
    ${user.company.id}I tested the above and it works.
    Note that you need to set the Company object in the User object before trying to access it inside the JSP.
    You can also set it in the JSP if you want, (before trying to access it), but its cleaner to do it in a Servlet.
    Both User and Company must follow JavaBeans notation.
    So in the above case the User object is something like this:
    package your.package;
    public class User{
       private Customer customer;
       public User(){}
       public Customer getCustomer(){
          return customer;
       public void setCustomer(Customer customer){
         this.customer = customer;
    }And your Customer JavaBean is something like this:
    package your.package;
    public class Customer{
       private int id;
       public Customer(){}
       public int getId(){
         return this.id;
       public void setId(int id){
         this.id = id;
    }

  • Hyper-V encountered an error trying to access an object on computer ...

    I'd like to share an issue which occurred during one of my recent configurations as well as the associated solution which worked for me.
    While configuring Hyper-V Manager on a non-domain joined Windows 8.1 Enterprise client, to communicate with a non-domain joined Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012R2, I received the following enjoyable message:
    Hyper-V encountered an error trying to access an object on computer '.....' because the object was not found. The object might have been deleted. or you might not have permission to perform the task. Verify that the Virtual Machine Management service
    on the computer is running. If the service is running, try to perform the task again by using Run as Administrator.
    As it turns out I forgot to change the machine name on the Hyper-V server. It's worth noting that it's also necessary to add an entry in the client machine's HOSTS file which matches the computer name of the Hyper-V server.

    Hi ITMAGE,
    Thanks for your sharing and support for this forum .

  • How to create a table in MS Access from Labview using ActiveX?

    I want to transfer datas from Labview to Access using activeX method. My only problem is to find out how to create a new table (array) in Access from the Labview program.
    Remarks: I use Labview 6i and MS Access 2000.
    For the moment I can write and read datas of Access from Labview.
    If someone could help me... that would be grate!

    This is off the Microsoft MSDN site "creating an external table". I think you can drop the last step.:
    Open the database you want to create the table in. If it is the current database, use the CurrentDb function to return an object variable that represents the current database. If it isnt the current database, use the OpenDatabase method to open the database you want.
    Use the CurrentDb function to create a Database object that points to the current database.
    Use the CreateTableDef method of the Database object to create a table definition for the Microsoft Access table.
    Use the CreateField method of the TableDef object to create one or more fields in the Microsoft Access table.
    Use the Append method of the Fields collection to add the new field or fields t
    o the Microsoft Access table.
    Use the Append method of the TableDefs collection to create the Microsoft Access table.
    Use the TransferDatabase method to create the external table in the specified folder.
    Use the Delete method of the TableDefs collection to delete the Microsoft Access table definition.

  • DBMS_SQL.PARSE to access remote objects

    I am using following code in a procedure ...
    DBMS_SQL.PARSE (cur, vSQL, DBMS_SQL.NATIVE);
    where variable vSQL can contain a remote object.
    A DB link (with Fixed User option) exists to access that database.
    The DB link is working. The remote object is accessible outside this procedure.
    When this command is executed, I get ...
    ORA-24374: define not done before fetch or execute and fetch
    ... error.
    Can DBMS_SQL handle remote objects?
    Oracle version is 9.2.0.5.0
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    END LOOP;
    vValid := 0;
    vMessage := 'No errors';

    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(i);
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(m);
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(c);

    This code in itself works.
    SELECT * FROM

    The user I am using to logon to my server is also there on REMOTE_SERVER.
    The DB LINK is created by CONNECTED USER option. The user on REMOTE_SERVER has explict select access on the table (not via role) I am accessing.
    Any help would be much appreciated.
