Accessing IPS using ASDM - Error

Hi,
When trying to access IPS using ASDM, I am getting this error message.
Thanks.

Have you connected to the sensor console and performed basic configuration via the setup command (IP address/bitmask, gateway, access list, etc)?
Can you connect to the sensor using IDM?
Can you connect to the sensor using SSH?

• Problem Opening ASA5512-IPS from ASDM

Hi,
I previously was able to open ASA5512-IPS from ASDM, but now I can't. it gives me error "ASDM 7.3 (2) doesn't support IPS 7.1 (3) E4"
So what should I do, upgrade IPS or ASDM or do what exactly ? I want to use ASDM not IME or anything else.
Also I can't open IPS from browser, Is there a specific configuration to let me access it through browser ?

I got this from IME, it opens the sensor. but i can't configure it. see attached file

• Can't access object using "id" or "name" if created with actionscript

How can you register an instance of an object with actionscript so that it's id or name value is accessible?
I included a simple example where a Button is created using mxml and in the same way it is created using actionscript. The actionscript object is inaccessible using it's "id" and "name" property.

//trace("mxmlButton="+this["asButtonName"].label); // returns runtime error: ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property asButtonName not found on TestId and there is no default value.
]]>
</fx:Script>
<s:Button
id="mxmlButton"
label="mxml label"
alpha="0.8"/>
</s:Application>

Hi Dan,
It is a very rare occurrence when I miss not being able to access an object (object property, really) using the ["name"] notation for objects created using actionscript.
In MXML the compiler is conveniently adding an attribute to the class with the same name as the id, so you can conveniently refer to it using the [] notation. While we explicitly specify an application container to use, the MXML compiler creates a custom container which is a derivative of the base container and to that it adds properties for the children declared in MXML. I guess it also effectively calls "addElement" for us when the container is being constructed.
Your example assumes that using "addElement" to add the button to the application container is the same as declaring a variable (ie property ). It isn't, so there's no point in looking for an property of the name "as3Button" using the [] notation, because it doesn't exist. The container is managing a collection of children in it's display list and that's not the same as being accessible as properties of the container.
Generally speaking, accessing properties using the ["name"] syntax isn't necessary.
Paul
[edit: you may wonder why "addElement" doesn't conveniently also add the "id" attribute to be an property of the container class. Unfortunately, it can't because the container class would need to be dynamic and it's not. A further complication would be that adding properties at runtime would invite naming clashes at runtime with associated mayhem. MXML can do this because the compiler generates the class and can trap name duplication at compile time.
Great question, BTW.
-last edit changed my "attributes" to be "properties" in line with Adobe's terminology]

• JNI - How to use the error reporting mechanism?

I've developed a C++ DLL which is loaded from a commercial Win32 application (not written by me) as a plug-in for external calculations. On its initialization the C++ DLL launches the Java VM via the JNI invocation interface. When the DLL functions are called by the application, they forward the calls to Java objects inside the Java VM, again via JNI invocation interface.
This works well, but I have encountered a weird error.
From Java I open a JFrame containing a JTextArea as small console for debug output messages. If I turn output to this debug console off (my printToConsole routine checks whether a boolean flag is set), the string concatenation operator may lead to a crash of the Java VM.
For example, if in one of the Java functions called from the
DLL via JNI invocation interface the following is the first statement,
it leads to a crash of the Java VM and the application that loaded the C++ proxy DLL.
String test=""+Math.random(); // String test not used later
Interestingly, if I comment this statement out, the Java code works fine WITHOUT any crash. I've already thought about potential races and synchronization issues in my code, but I don't see where this is the case. And the string concatenation error fails as well, if I insert sleep() statements in front of it and at other places in the code. However, if I turn on log messages printed to my JFrame debug console (containing a JTextArea), the String concatenation works without problems.
So maybe the JNI interface has a bug and affects the Java VM; I don't see where my JNI code is wrong.
One problem is that I do not get any stdout output, as the C++ proxy DLL is loaded by the Windows application, even if I start the Windows application from the DOS command line (under Windows).
Does anyone know how to use the error reporting mechanism?
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/vm/error-handling.html
Is it possible that the JVM, when it crashes, writes debug information about the crash into a file instead of stdout/stderr?
My C++ proxy DLL was compiled in debug mode, but the commercial application (which loaded the DLL) is very likely not.
I do not know hot to find the reason why the String concatenation fails inside the Java function called from the C++ DLL via JNI.

Yes, I've initially thought about errors in the C++ code too. But the C++ code is actually very simple and short. It doesn't allocate anything on the C++ side. It allocates a couple of ByteBuffers inside the Java VM however via JNI invocation interface calls of env->NewDirectByteBuffer(). The native memory regions accessed via the ByteBuffers are allocated not by my own C++ code, but by the program that calls my DLL (the program is Metastock).
The interesting thing is that everything works fine if output to my debug console is enabled, which means that in the Java print routine getConsoleLoggingState() returns true and text is appended to the jTextArea.
static synchronized void print(String str)
{ MetaStockMonitor mMon=getInstance();
if ( mMon.getFileLoggingState() && mMon.logFileWriter!=null) {
mMon.logFileWriter.print(str);
mMon.logFileWriter.flush();
if ( mMon.getConsoleLoggingState() ) {
mMon.jTextArea1.append(str);
Only if output to the JTextArea is turned off (ie. getConsoleLoggingState()==false), the crash happens when the FIRST statement in the Java routine called via JNI invocation interface is a (useless) String concatenation operation, as described above.
String test=""+Math.random(); // String test not used later
Moreover, the crash happens BEFORE the allocated ByteBuffer objects are accessed in the Java code. But again, if console output is turned on, it works stable. If console output is turned off, it works when the (useless) String concatenation operation is removed in the Java routine called from C++.
I've already thought about potential races (regarding multiple threads), but this can be ruled out in my case. It almost appears as if the JVM can have problems when called by the invocation interface (I tested it with Java 1.4.2 b28).
All the calls between C++ and Java go ALWAYS in the direction from C++ code to Java. Unfortunately, there is no special JRE version with extensive logging capabilities to facilitate debugging. And the problem is not easily reproducible either.

• Is there a way to find out that a variant is of type vt_null, without using an error handler?

i am using an persistant ado-recordset. some fields may return a variant of type vt_null (sql-null value).
i want to figure out if a field contains a null or an empty string. when i checked the "view type" at a variant control, i see that labview correctly recognize a null value.
making a compare with "not a refnum/number/..." does not work. checking against a null string also don't work.
i used "variant flatten string" and "flatten string" but there is no difference between a field containing data and a null field (the type string tells me that is a reference to the variant, neither function 'flatten' the refrenced variant)
"varaint to data" results in an error, whe
n used with lv-native datatype and trying to convert a null-value. but the function has to return a variant, so using an error-handler is not an option. (converting variant-null to variant-data does not produce an error)
i also tried to get the "attribute" "value type"; it is not accessable with this function, like "attribute" "value".
is there a way to extract the variant data-type from a variant? or any other soloution to find out that a variant carries a null-value?

Hi,
sorry, i got no idea how to get the datatype of a variant, but there are properties "ActualSize" and "Type" of the ADO Field-Object. In case of an empty field the ActualSize is zero. Maybe you can use that. See VI below.

• Access KM using API as predefined user

Hello, dear experts!
Currently I am going to use KM as file storage for my application. I want to prevent direct access to KM content for all users and allow them to upload and download files only using my application.
The problem is:
I use not context of current user but some user found in UME.
IUser user = UMFactory.getUserFactory().getUserByLogonID("Administrator");
com.sapportals.portal.security.usermanagement.IUser ep5User = portalUserFactory.getEP5User(user);
context = new ResourceContext(ep5User);
When I try to operate KM (for instance create new folder) I get error: "User <Administrator> is not authenticated"
But user "Administrator" has all rights to access KM.
Is it possible to access KM using API as different user? Or is there another way to solve the problem?
Best regards,
Anton.

Hi, Praveen!
Thank you for your answer. Your code works fine!
But when I created my own service user "service_user" under Content Management -> Utilities -> System Principals I cannot get resource context even after restarting servlet engine.
I get an exception java.security.PrivilegedActionException: com.sapportals.wcm.repository.ResourceException: User management exception: Could not get service user "service_user".
This user has the same permissions as "cmadmin_service".
Also user with the same name was created in UME.
May be I should execute some additional administrating task?
Best regards,
Anton.

• How do I access ACR using Photoshop CC?

How do I access ACR using Photoshop CC? Can I download the latest version of ACR for my camera and use the plug-in with Photoshop CC? When I had CS5 I could easily access ACR. Now I have CS6/CC I don't seem to be able to edit my images in ACR. What do I need to do to access ACR?

• How to use Tools Error Console

I was recently trying to troubleshoot a problem of access a secure bank site [SSL problem] and trying to use the error console to figure out what was wrong. It makes little sense to a common end user of Java such as myself.
What does one do with the information in the catagories and what are the Code and Evaluate buttons use? What are you supposed to enter into the 'address' box or whatever it is??
Is the error console just for web page designers or what?

Dianna,
The Error Console isn't intended for the average user. It is mainly used by webpage and program developers for troubleshooting their work. I wish Mozilla would just remove it from Firefox and offer it as an extension for the few number of users who really need it; like Mozilla did with the DOM Inspector a couple of years ago.

• Connect to Azure SQL DB with Security Enabled Access required using SSMS

I'm looking to connect to an Azure SQL DB with Security Enabled Access required using SQL Server Management Studio 2014. I have tried checking off "Encrypt connection", but still errors out with "Cannot open database 'db name' on server 'hostname'
requested by the login. Access to the database is only allowed using a security-enabled connection string."
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott,
Sorry, I missunderstood your initial question and the documentation I referenced is not updated appropriately. You have to change the connection string to <server-name>.database.secure.windows.net when you enable the security/auditing features.
Documentation for this can be found
here
Thanks,
Jan

• Some Access Forms getting an error

I used OMWB to extract the DDL and data from an Access app to an Oracle 10g database -- works well!. I also allowed the OMWB to update the access app to convert the local tables into linked tables -- also worked well!
My question is this: While I can open the linked tables by double clicking on them in the tables tab in Access, I cannot open the form built on the table. I get an error stating 'You can't go to the specified record'.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to what to look at/for? About half of the forms open fine and the others don't. I've looked for any pattern of what's different, but haven't found on.
Thanks for any insights/suggestions....

A couple of new facts that maybe will help in a solution:
1. I used OMWB to migrate and load tables from Access 2003 to Oracle 10g.
2. I used OMWB to change Access to use a database link to access the newly created tables.
3. I can insert data into all tables in Oracle from sql*plus.
4. I can insert data into SOME of the tables in Oracle from Access through the linked table.
5. I cannot insert data into SOME of the tables in Oracle from Access through the linked table.
6. I am using the same user for the ODBC connection for all tables
What would cause two tables that are the same in nature (no fk, no nothing) to behave differently.
Any ideas why the differing behavior?
