Accessing JSP

Can I Deploy and access only the JSP's which use business components in JDeveloper 3.2 for OAS 9i and Oracle 8.1.7?
Can I Deploy and access the JSP which is a normal JSP which do not use these components? If so , How?
Thanks,
Regards.
Bindu.

Yes, you can deploy 'vanilla' JSPs to the Oracle servers from JDeveloper. The process is similar to the one discussed for BC4J JSPs in the online helpsystem (Look for 'Deploying JSP Applications' under 'Packaging and Deploying'). Also, please refer to the server documentation for more details.

  • Some content missing when access JSP through UNIX

    Hi, everyone:
              I have a problem when I access JSP file from UNIX system. It is that I
              transfer one variable which will be show up from one page to next.
              Only one word can be displayed, the following words are missing. When
              I access this JSP file from Windows, there aren't problems. How can I
              do to fix it? Thanks for your hehp.

    Creating a new library may have been a mistake, deleting content takes no time at all.
    I can't fully think through what you have done at this time, too late and too many beers, but generally speaking if the original files making up your library or part of it is not available because your HD is missing, a sync will skip this content and not delete it from the tv, providing you have not removed the links for the missing content from itunes.

  • Can JavaScript access JSP variable?

    Could we do this? Or, how could we have JavaScript access JSP variable?
    <%
    String fooBar = request.getParameter(......
    %>
    <script language="JavaScript">
    <!--
    if (fooBar  == ...) {
    -->
    </script>

    To access the variable in Javascript you'll have to
    write it out from the JSP. You'll need to do something
    like:
    <%
    String fooBar = request.getParameter(......
    %>
    <script language="JavaScript">
    <!--
    var fooBar = '<%=encodeQuotes(fooBar)%>';
    if (fooBar  == ...) {
    -->
    </script>You'll need to either make sure fooBar doesn't contain
    any quotes or write a function to replace each ' with
    \'.Thanks!
    That works perfectly, without encodeQuote() method in my current case.
    Thanks again. You ar a saviour.

    You don't need to get the output writer "out1". you can use "out" in your scriplets the same way as "request" and "response".

  • Access JSP pages under WEB-INF

    Hello, I have a web application and i use Java,JSP, servlets etc.
    In my webpage i have three different categories of users
    *1)* Registered users
    *2)* Not Registered users
    *3)* Administrator
    I would like the welcome page index.jsp and register page be accessed by everyone.
    But as far as the other pages are concerned , i would like to be accessed only by the registered users.
    What shall i do??
    I placed the index.jsp and register.jsp under the public folder and the other pages under WEB-INF folder in order to be accesses only from the registered users.
    But it's not working!
    What exactly shall i do in order to make that work??
    Thanks, in advance!

    g_p_java wrote:
    Thanks for the link! As i understood i don't have to place my web pages under WEB-INF (only the web.xml which is already there).
    *1)* So i have to follow the steps that are being mentioned there for all the users right??
    Registered , Not Registered and admin.
    Yes, security constraining through web.xml is a url pattern based protection for your resources. You could create multiple urls - /secured/* and map them to your resources accessible to registered users only or you may have /admin/* and define that only 'admin' roles have access to these resources. Some portions of such setup would be server specific (eg: how you create users and map them to roles)
    *2)* I would like to make a question: Who is the "FrontController" in the link you posted me? [http://onjava.com/onjava/2001/08/06/webform.html]
    It's the Container. Because such features are mandated by the spec, the container provides an implementation and options to customize the implementation (for example in weblogic, you can specify that your users are bound to an LDAP or configured in a Users table in the db)
    Nevertheless, you would have your own Controllers for your application management (Struts or Spring or whatever suits your need). On the same note, you should have your own Filters to implement whatever common logic you have across your application.
    Madathil_Prasad wrote:
    2. Write a filter that checks for the presence of a session (and entitlements possibly) before allowing access to a resource.
    *3)* when you write "_entitlements_" what exactly do you mean??
    Thanks!
    This is the other road I was talking about. You could throw all configuration and j2ee based security configuration out of the window (they do have their limitations) and implement custom security logic in a Filter. For example,
    String urlPattern = request.getRequestURI();
    if(urlPattern.indexOf("/secured") != null{
             if(request.getSession(false) == null){
                   //redirect to login page.
             }else{
                  //valid session
                  //now check specific entitlement to see whether user has access
    }Here entitlement refers to permissions at a granular level (authorization if you wish to call it). For example, you have 2 kinds of admin users - some who can generate reports of web activity and another who can change application settings.

  • Access jsp pages in WEB-INF directory

    Hi,
    I've a problem with my jsp web project;
    practically I've created a web project that uses jsp pages and servlet.
    I never use links to jsp pages, directly in my web pages, but I call always first servlet;
    the servlet call jsp pages.
    My project is completed and works fine, but any user can access to my jsp pages directly simply writing the url.
    So I've tried to move my jsp pages in the WEB-INF directory, but now I doesn't manage in accessing index.jsp page;
    how must I do to access index.jsp page?
    I've tried to modify web.xml like this
    <welcome-file-list>
              <welcome-file>WEB-INF/index.jsp</welcome-file>
         </welcome-file-list>
    but doesn't work;
    besides also servlet calls to jsp pages doesn't work anymore.
    How can I solve?
    Thank you in advance
    MargNat

    ok, so first you have to implement the Filter interface, with 3 methods,
    the main method u have to put logic in is doFilter()
    public class YourClass implements javax.servlet.Filter {
    doFilter(ServletRequest req, ServletResponse res, FIlterChain chain) throws ... {
    //check first if is HTTP, if in this case permission is not granted as well
    if(req instanceof HttpServletRequest{
    HttpServletRequest httpReq = (HttpServletRequest)req;
    //now check if its called for index.jsp
    if(!httpReq.getRequestURI().toLowerCase().endsWith("index.jsp"))
       throw new ServletException("access permitted");
    else
      chain.doFilter(req,res); //go on with processing
    }else
    throw new ServletException("only HTTP requests allowed");
    }and of course you have to register that filter in your web.xml doing
      <filter>
        <filter-name>yourFilter</filter-name>
    <filter-class>yourFilterClass</filter-class>
      </filter>
      <filter-mapping>
        <filter-name>yourFilter</filter-name>
        <url-pattern>/**.jsp</url-pattern>
      </filter-mapping>actually that's it

  • Access jsp's application object from an .java file?

    Hi,
    I hava a .jsp page and an import statement to a .java file. How can I access the application object in this .java file?
    I want to make an initialization function that I want to be called in every .jsp of the WEB application and to store this function in a .java file.

    The only way to get a hold of the application object would be to pass it to java code as a parameter to a method.
    ie public class Util{
    public void initialiseJSPPage(ServletContext application){
      // do stuff in ServletContext
    }and then in the JSP call it via
    <% Util.initialiseJSPPage(application); %>
    You could manually include this code on every JSP.
    A better alternative is that in web.xml you can configure an automatic include (See JSP.3.3.5)
    What is it you are trying to accomplish by doing this?
    Would a Filter be a more appropriate tool in this case? That would let you run java code before selected requests are handled.
    Cheers,

    It work fine at start, but after accessing it for some time, it failed to be access, giving me page not found error. But the App Server is running fine, other pages can be accessed.
    Until I restart the App Server, then it work again.
    Any idea whats the problem ? I am using App Server 7 update 1.
    Thx.

    Its working. I gave crdb_jdbc.dll name in the connection info

  • Accessing JSP Variables in Custom Tag Handler.

    Hi,
    I am creating a custom tag which builds a list view. I have certain String array in my JSP and I need to pass the same into my Tag Handler class. I tried following ways :
    1. In doStartTag() implementation I used
       public int doStartTag() {
             String[] myArray = (String[])pageContext.getAttribute("mystringarray", PageContext.PAGE_SCOPE;
       }This is not recognizing the String array variable defined in my JSP.
    2. I used separate attribute which is passed from the JSP to the custom tag as parameter having "rtexprvalue" as true. But I cann't pass a Sting array into my tag handler class. I can pass only String.
    How can I access variables which are defined in the JSP using declaration block. i.e.
    <%!
    String[] myArray = new String[100];
    %>
    Thanks for the time.

    You should be able to pass any type you like as an attribute to the tag.
    You just have to define its type as String[] in your tld:
    <attribute>
    <name>stringArray</name>
    <required>false</required>
    <rtexprvalue>true</rtexprvalue>
    <type>java.lang.String[]</type>
    </attribute>
    Alternatively, If you declare your array like:
    <%!
    String[] myArray = new String[100];
    %>You can do this:
    pageContext.setAttribute("mystringarray", myArray);
    which will put it into the page context for you to pick up in your custom tag.
    Hope this helps,

  • Accessing JSP variables in Included Javascript

    Hey All,
    I want to hide my javascript to be viewed on the client browser.
    I know we can do that with the javascript include ,But i am using JSP variables in
    Included javascript.I can't access those variables any more.
    Does anybody know any workarround.
    Thanx
    Vijay

    Hi Vijay,
    I am also facing the same problem of hiding javascript in the client browser. My javascript variables are getting initialised on the fly using JSP. Since JSP is compiled on the server side, one can't compile .js file on the client side.
    What u can do is to divide your page into frames with
    <frameset rows="100%,0%">. Now put your form hidden fields or the .js file in frame 2 which is not visible to the user and then assign your jsp variables in the frame2 html/jsp page. Now access your variables from frame2 in frame1 using
    var i = parent.frames[1].document.forms[0].elements[0].value
    Assuming that there is 1 form and 1 hidden field in frame2 html/jsp page.
    I hope u get the logic rite....
    I had done it for application but problem is that our users are real MORONS and they keep doing ctrl+F5 which takes them to the Indexpage.
    If you get some other solution then please mail it to my email address

  • Subject content missing access JSP page on Unix

    Hi, everyone:
              I've got a problem when I access my JSP page on unix system.The
              problem is that when I transfer a varable from one page to next. Some
              content are missing. But when I access this page on PC, no this
              problem.

    Hi Joseph,
              I have two JSP pages: messages page which has a reply link, it can
              link to replies page.
              <a href = "messages.jsp?CatName=<%= sCatName %>&CatID=<%= sCatID
              %>&MsgID=<%= sMsgID %>"><%=sHeader%></a>
              In this statement, sHeader will go to replies page. It should display
              on the Subject textbox, it is like our message reply interface. But on
              the replies page, only the first word be displayed, the following
              words is gone.
              Sorry, I don't understant what is WLS. And the Unix system which I
              used don't have JVM. Thanks for your reply.
