Accessing peoplesoft portal via internet, outside of your org network

Hi,
I want one component of HRMS to be able to be accessed outside of the network over the internet.
It would be great if someone could give the steps needed to achieve this.
PeopleTools 8.48
Thanks,

Hi Saurabh,
it is bit complicated.
As you Expose FQDN is different and you internal FQDN is different , you have to make some workaround.
Follow below steps.
1.
The system which you have created on EP for calling backend system , you have make changes all in that.
Changes mean every where in system where you have maintain the host name portal.server.com has to be replace by static.ip.com , by this changes when you will call the BSP from portal, it will redirect to http://static.ip.com:8000/sap/bsp/bc/sap/zbsp/default.html
2.
Now the problem is that when you will try access the portal from you internal network through URL :- http://portal.server.com:50000/irj/portal and when you will click on BSP , it will indirectly go to internet to resolve the URL :-  http://static.ip.com:8000/sap/bsp/bc/sap/zbsp/default.html  which is becuase we have made chnages in the system above.
From internal network if you have to resolve URL http://static.ip.com:8000/sap/bsp/bc/sap/zbsp/default.html then you have to make the entry in host file which is like below
static.ip.com              123.123.123.123
From above workaround your URL will resolve from internet as well as from your internal network.
This is all becauase you have dual stack , you have difference in FQDN.
Any query pls reply.
Thanks
Anil

If the drive can be accessed in local lan, then it can be accessed from internet assuming you have setup using one of the remote access methods.

  • Error while accessing portal via internet

    Hi all,
I am having problems when accessing portal through internet. I have installed NW04 SR1(WAS, EP & KM). Then I created some iviews and pages.
Now <u>when I open the portal through internet(using its ip address)</u> and try to access PCD, it is showing <b>undefined</b> in place of the loading message and it is not loading anything. Also <b>the detailed navigation is empty</b> in all pages(eg. System Administration, Monitoring, etc.). But <u>when i access it locally(using machine name) everything works fine</u>. Any idea what the problem is?
Another problem is with the KM Navigation IView. I have created a custom layout set for this iview. In the iview I am displaying the documents in a folder along with a link for approval process. But <b>when i click on the link, it shows javascript error "Access is denied"</b>. <u>This happens when I access it through internet. When I access it locally, it works fine and show me the context menu for approval</u>. Any idea?
Please reply fast as it is urgent.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Unable to access FTP Site via internet

    Hello All,
Here is a problem that I'm facing accessing my home deployed FTP Server on Windows 2008 Server via internet. Below is the description of setup at my home.
    1. I've a private network behind D-link DSL 2750U router.
    2. I've forwarded Port 21 to my FTP Server in private network (FTP Server IP: 192.168.1.2)
    3. FTP Site is deployed in IIS 7.5 with Anonymous access rights (so obviously no username and password is required to access it).
    4. In IIS 7.5, FTP Site binding is set as "
    5. I'm able to access my ftp site within private network (via command prompt and any browser).
    6. I've registered a domain name ftp.tx-fr.tk for my FTP site so that I can use it from outside world and here are settings.
    7. I'm able to ping this (ftp.tx-fr.tk ) domain name.
    8. All firewalls are disabled for testing purpose (Will implement security later, once primary issue resolves).
Now here is the problem, whenever I type in ftp://ftp.tx-fr.tk in my browsers,
IE 9 and Chrome prompts for username and password, whereas Mozilla throws a message as "421 Login Incorrect".
Same happens when I use command prompt to access the FTP site using domain name.
Here is the funny part, when I'm prompted for username password, I typed in router's credentials (U:admin, P:admin) and I get
"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" in IE 9, "421 Login Incorrect" in Mozilla.
Whereas when CMD is used to access the site, I'm able to log in using router's credential but none of the command executes
Now is there anyone who can assist me resolving this case?
    Kind regards,
    Aniruddha

I would have ask in IIS forums: http://forums.iis.net/
    Thanks

  • WRT160NL: Howto access storage media via internet?

Hi and a nice day for everyone.
I frequently have to move data from between two distant LANs, which I currently do with a travelling USB-Stick.
I wonder, if  I could use the the storage link to make things easier. I could access the router via DDNS, but how can I transfer the data? I run debian GNU/Linux .
Can please someone give me a hint?
    Thank you all

Printed incorrectly? Just like that? Come on....... Cisco still has on line the product sheet and the web page and hasn´t change a letter. This really is starting to make me think on getting my money back, is not fair and not even legal!!
    jjohnston7 wrote:
Nevermind.  Talked to Tech support, and they said all the packaging and user manuals were printed incorrectly and FTP is not supported.
I wonder if there is an FTP client you could install in the USB drive its self that would work, or if that wouldn't work due to it being in a USB port not a network port...
if you can´t get a single file over the internet, what makes you think that you could be able to access an ftp application?

  • SSO failing when sap transactions are accessed in portal thru internet

    Hi,
We are accessing portal through internet on reverse proxy(Apache) but the SSO is failing when accessing sap transactions in portal but other screens(ESS) are accessible. Please let me know does this require any config settings in portal or apache side.
    thanks i advance.

    Hi Rajender,
I tried doing the same in the ECC system but the iview is throwing error"resource not available".
We have given just an Apache Ip address in the format  <ipaddress>:80 as we doesn't have FQDN for the apache in the place of WebAs and ITS Host name.
Also the WEBAS path is /sap/bc/bsp/sap and ITS path is /sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui. Does this require any modifications.
Please also let me know for any changes need to be done on the httpd.config file on Apache server.
    portal.xxxxx.xxx.xx  - Our External URL
    hostname:port/irj/portal - Our Intranet URL
Please let me know the exact format of the entries to be made in ITS and Web As settings with the apache details.
Web AS Host Name :   Hostname:port
    ITS Host Name :   Hostname:port
    ITS Path  : /sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui

  • *Access to Portal Via Company Website*

Our company has a website running on oracle which I am addressing here as legacy portal. The employee data is maintainted in SAP and we have recently implemented ECM which is currently being performed through the SAP portal.
We want to introduce the SAP portal link in the legacy portal and avoid the scenario where the user is being challenged to login to the portal.
Our legacy portal is PGP ready and the team pertty much wants to use PGP using which the following will happen.
    1. User will login to the legacy portal and click on the link which will direct them to SAP portal
    2. We send the user ID and the PGP encrypted password to the SAP portal from the legacy portal
    3. Question: How and where do we have to implement the decryption functionality
    4. Question: How is the UID and decrypted PWD going to be used to automatically login to the SAP portal
Is there a better and, more importantly, simpler workaround to acheive this objective without PGP?
    Appreicate your responses.
    Thanks,

Your approach has several security design weaknesses in it, particularly relying on the fact that the passwords are the same in different systems, and making them (remotely) decryptable.
How does the user authenticate against the legacy portal and is there a Single-Sign-On technology which both portals support? That is actually what you are looking for, ideally re-authenticating the client user based on a common identity provider service.
System trust-chains are not optimal either, but password-chains are by far the worst option...

  • Access Remote Webservice via Internet

    Hi all,
Iam new to Web Services ...

plz help me .. tks in advance...

I got the same error while I trying to connect the server in that port via ssh.I know ssh is "the new telnet", but I did not say telnet to be retro. ssh does encryption stuff, telnet does not. For checking that a port is open and (if the server sends at least the handshake in a human readable format) checking that the server you think is running is running telnet is a better option.
From the sounds of it the application you think is running is not running.

  • Access my iTunes library from outside of my local network

    Good Evening,
I recently transferred all my music to my new WD My Book Live and saved my new iTunes library to this new external drive. When I'm connected to my local network, everything works fine. However, I would like to be able to open iTunes and access my library also when I'm not connect to my local network. For example, when I'm at work, I would like to be able to open iTunes and access my music on my NAS device at home. Is this even possible?
    Thanks!

If you create a new library on the new computer and turn on iTunes Match on that computer using the same Apple ID that you signed up with then your library will be available to download.
However, be aware that there will very likely be mismatches in your cloud library, where songs have matched with slightly different versions.
If you have a backup of your library then you will be better off using that.

  • Can you use screen sharing outside of your local network?

I've been poking around with the "screen sharing" in osx Lion. I have a few questions about it.
Firstly, is the built-in screen sharing only accessible through the finder?
Also, is it only available on local networks? I've gotten it to work on two computers on the same network. But, can I use in the built-in screen sharing to look at my work iMac while I'm at home on my Macbook? Or would I need a full VPN client to do this? (Although isn't there built-in VPN compatibility in Lion?)
    Thanks!

  • Images not loading while accessing portal from internet

    Hi all
we are trying to publish the portal on internet. We have used  apache as reverse proxy  and it is in dmz .
When we access the portal from internet we are getting the  login page  but it is with out images (e.g branding imag etc).
we also could login  in the portal but we only see  the links for  Help  Personalize  Log off  , Histrory Back  and Forward  remaining page is blank.
Is this reverse proxy configuration issue?
Can any body help us in resolving this issue.
    Regards
    Rajendra.

    Hi Rajendra/Experts,
We are currently working on custom webdynpro application which needs to be exposed to Internet using Apache HTTP Server.
We can able to access URL, but no images are getting displayed and also the application not functioning when we click any button/links.
    Below is HTTPD file configuration
    ProxyPass /esampleApp http://hostname:port/webdynpro/dispatcher/local/esampUI/ESamplingApp
    ProxyPassReverse /esampleApp  http://hostname:port/webdynpro/dispatcher/local/esampUI/ESamplingApp
when we look in to images URL which is being called from Apache we  found out "webdynpro" is missing in the URL.
Actual URL in Portal Server: (working)
    http://portalhostname:port/webdynpro/resources/local/esampUI/Components/esampling.ui.ESamplingComp/logo.gif
    Apache URL:
    http://Apachehostname:port/resources/local/esampUI/Components/esampling.ui.ESamplingComp/logo.gif
    Please suggest.
    Thanks

  • Access to portal

    Hi all,
We have a portal 9.0.2. When users logs in from within intranet they have some access rights. But if they login
from internet I could like to restrict their access, for some users. How to do this?
The Portal can be accessed thru'
    the Internet too.
We would like to restrict the access from the
Internet (outside the firewall) to only certain users.
How do I do that? Do I have to put some kind of
restrictions at the SSO or WebCache or at Firewall ?
    with thanks

One (non-SAP) was of doing this would be to use a https accelerator in front of the portal to do https into your company network and then http to the portal.
Or - https runs on a different port, so they could connect to this.  However, this would be very messy (technical term ) as it is recommended that if you use http, you should use it everywhere throughout the environment (i.e. when accessing ITS/ BSP/BW reports) or vice versa, if using https you should use it everywhere.
    Hope that helps.

  • Using Bex Analyzer via internet

    Hello experts,
I have BW 3.5 and do not have portal. I want users travelling in various locations to access / run queries via internet. Some queries are static (updated once a day) and some are dynamic (structure updated every 15 min). What all steps do I take to acheive this?
Any help would be rewarded with points.
    Thanks
    UV

    Hi UV,
Ok..Here are the steps to create a simple web report:
    1. Create a quesry on your cube. Goto bex analyzer and just drag and drop a few chars in the rows and columns sections and save.
    2. Now goto start -> programs -> business explorer -> web application designer.
    3. In the WAD drag and drop table web item (you would find lots of them like table, chart, etc..) to the rightr hand side.
    4. Now below the web items you would find the properties tab. Now in the properties for the table select the query that you created. Save.
    5. There is a button in WAD to execute the report in browser. Execute and check.
    Bye

  • Exposing Portal over Internet

    Hi,
We have implemented SAP modules like SRM, BI and HR in our landscape and Portal is the single point for accessing all the available functionalities. Now, we want to access the portal from Internet WITHOUT MAKING OTHER SYSTEMS accessible because of security reasons. With this, I am not able to access SRM applications because it tries to connect to Web AS of SRM system as configured in System Object of Portal.
Please let me know the way or method used in accessing Portal over Internet.
    Thanks,
    Iftekhar

    Hi Iftekhar,
The ideal scenario should be configuring a reverse proxy which can be place in a DMZ zone. The Reverse proxy will be use to write the rewrite rules.
Also to ensure the security a SSL implementation is highly recommended. This can be through out the landscpe or from the internet cloud to the reverse proxy depends on the requirement.
You can find a tons of material in SDN for configuring reverse proxy and SSL in the landscape. This could be starting point for configuring reverse proxy.
[The Reverse Proxy Series -- Part 1: Introduction]
and for SSL you can follow this [ADS SSL configuration journal I. / ABAP -> JAVA / 640 - 70x]
