Accessing Portal thru a 2nd URL

After setting up our Portal we can now access it using the qualified hostname which is as follows:
http://gnwhepstg.company.com:50000/irj/portal
We would now like to access the portal using the URL listed below:
http://portalstg.psc.inside.tkr:50000/irj/portal
How would we go about setting this up?
Also, We need to access this site using https and not http.  Do we need to setup SSL on the Java stack for this?  If not , how is this setup?

I can honestly tell you that I have no idea why it is as difficult as what it seems in that note.
We operate one domain corp.company.com but all internal intranet web servers get the address inside.ZZZ.  The inside.ZZZ is on our IE exclusion list but company.com is not.  Adding company.com seems to be a miserable task so we are looking at adding an alias so our users can access the server at the new inside.ZZZ url.  We have DNS pointing the URL to the right server but we get an series of errors when logging in.  1. We get the "No Switch to HTTPS" error.  2. We get a second login for the ABAP stack (it is a dual stack EP7.0 portal) after successfully logging into the java stack.  Those are the errors we want to get rid of.  Any ideas how we make it work?  If the solution is the web Server Filter, I do not understand how that applies to this case.  It just isn't obvious to me.
Thanks

    Hi,
    I noticed that i cannot access my portal thru its IP.
    ie: http://<IP address>:50000/irj does not work
    but if i use the hostname to which it is mapped,it works..
    what is the reason behind this?

    Hi.
    It is true.
    A reason is the SSO cookies mechanism, and it cannot work without a hostname.

  • Searching ifs via portal thru use of URL ?

    I was recently told by my customer that someone from Oracle told
    him you could create some sort of a URL inside portal to ifs
    that would allow you to search ifs via portal.
    I am not aware of anything like this. Can anyone out there shed
    some light on this? Can this be done?
    Thanks.

    Hi Grigoria,
    You can open a browser with the function module CALL_BROWSER. Giving the BSP URL, you will be able to call your BSP application from ABAP code.
    Alternatively, you can embed your BSP application within SAPgui with an HTML control. Please check demo program CNHTTST1 for a code sample.

  • Anonymous access to Portal Component over direct URL.

    Hi All,
    Im having a few Issues with enabling anonymous access to a portal component.
    Here is a mock of our portalapp.xml file
    <?xml version="1.0"  encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
    <application>
      <application-config>
        <property name="SharingReference" value="usermanagement, knowledgemanagement, landscape, htmlb, exportalJCOclient, exportal"/>
        <property name="startup" value="true"/>
        <property name="releasable" value="true"/>

      <services/>
    </application>
    I want to be able to access the servlet over a URL like...
    http://host:port/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/MyApp.MyComponent
    I have added the Default User Group Everyone to the no_safety area of our com.ourDomain Security Zone.
    However when try to navigate to the URL we are first faced with a SAP Portal login page. on successful login the servlet is then shown.
    Note: I was able to get the Same Servlet working within an iView when the iViews Authentification Scheme was set to anonymous...However i am under instruction to get it working without the iView...
    As Background, The servlet is to be a sink for accepting data sent via an HTTP Post.
    Any help with this or pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
    -Paul

    Hi Darrell,
    Thankyou for that, yes it has helped....And I can now access the servlet directly without need to login.
    I figured that there was something that i was missing.....

  • Accessing UWC thru Portal/Gateway

    Ehlo,
    i have uwc which work properly. we put the uwc as an inline frame (iFrame) in portal.
    and then we put gateway in front, so that user will access the uwc (as inline frame in portal) thru Gateway.
    it works on IE, but not in Mozzila Netscape 7 and Firefox. No error, but when it load, it say "Loading : please wait ..."
    But never come out.
    Cheers,

    UWC wasn't designed to be accessed through Portal. If you're having problems doing that, I suggest you hit the Portal folks up, and see what they know.

    thanks i advance.

    Hi Rajender,
    I tried doing the same in the ECC system but the iview is throwing error"resource not available".
    We have given just an Apache Ip address in the format  <ipaddress>:80 as we doesn't have FQDN for the apache in the place of WebAs and ITS Host name.
    Also the WEBAS path is /sap/bc/bsp/sap and ITS path is /sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui. Does this require any modifications.
    Please also let me know for any changes need to be done on the httpd.config file on Apache server.

  • How to set up reverse proxy to allow user access portal site from internet

    Hi all,
    I have installed 10g(10.1.2.0.2) AS on same machine(single IP for both mid and infra with different users respectively). there is a DMZ on which windows IIS is working through which we need to redirect the request to application server such that users access portal page from internet (within intranet all URLs are working fine). I have went through technet documentation where i found 3 ways : through this link
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/core.1012/b13998/variants.htm
    Section 9.2.1.1, "Configuring OracleAS Web Cache as a Reverse Proxy"
    Section 9.2.1.2, "Configuring the Oracle HTTP Server as a Reverse Proxy"
    Section 9.2.1.3, "Configuring Internet Information Services as a Reverse Proxy"
    I am confused to which option to use. Also i went through the metalink document 270160.1
    Please help me which option to choose to do this.
    Thanks.

    Hi Hozy,
    May be it's too late, I am thinking to go in the same route for our sap portal access to external customers. Please can you share your experience , like what are the challenges have you faced? what is the complexity? what are all the resources we need to configure this?
    I appreciate your feedback.

    HI padmalatha kontham,
    If there is no any ignore option in the dilog box, just try to close it and try again. If u get that again, check the portnumber and hostname are correct or not.
    there won't be any problem other than that.
    example
    http://<host>:<port>/irj/portal

    Many thanks,

    So, you got Java SE installed. Great. (I've been following your other thread re: installing IS and PS properly).It's not exactly right. I try to use Windows 2000 to install JES and with the same DNS configuration.
    It works. But I still can't install IS/PS correctly in the original machine(Win XP).
    Check the troubleshooting info in the Java SE Install Guide, I believethis error is covered in there. Be sure you use a new instance of your browser to access the PS desktop. And, be sure to check the supported browser list in the Release Notes.
    I go through the overall Install Guide, it's really that I can't find and answer to solve my problem :'(

    Hi Padma,
                    This is possible when the installation is not proper. Please check the installation once again.
    By the error you have mentioned, the authentication error can happen when you have provided wrong credentials.
    1.Check if the installation is right and you can see the login screen.
    2.If the first happens be true, then please check the user.

  • Accessing Portal's First Screen without an Authentication

    We have Oracle Portal 10.1.2.3 installed as a part of our middle tier and trying to disable authentication to SSO so the user can access to the selected site without needing to register with our system. Nothing secure is posted in the portal home page and they'll need to logon after they select certain options.
    The question is how to disable the SSO when we navigate to the portal with using the URL such as https://machine.domain/pls/portal?
    We are worried that if we delete the Portal Entry from SSO configuration (https://infra.domain/pls/orasso) as a partner application, it may cause problems with the Portal and the way it was installed as a part of the middle tier installation.
    Thanks in advance for your time.
    KA

    Unfortunately you’re on Portal 10.1.2.3 and can't use the pretty URI format from Portal 10.1.4.x. Portal 10.1.4 will also allow you to shorten the URL even more by removal of the /portal/page/portal part of the URI. For more information about this feature, consult the documentation :

  • Accessing Portal Runtime from CAF

    Hi All,
    We're developing Composite appln services (exposed as web services). We now want to access the portal runtime to retrieve system, user mapping information etc.
    Accessing PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources() returns null (within the service mthds) as this web service resides outside the portal runtime.
    For now, we created an external library with libraries prtapi.jar, com.sap.portal.ivs.api_landscape_api.jar, com.sap.portal.ivs.api_portalpcm_api, com.sap.portal.ivs.systemlandscapeservice_api. This external library was included in the 'Used DCs' of the above-mentioned Composite Appln service DC. this enables me to compile and deploy the apis.
    what would be the best way to obtain a reference to the Portal runtime from this CAF?
    Do we need to add references to the following jars in application-j2ee-engine.xml? If so, how can I extend the SAP_SYSTEM_ADD_LIBS variable to show the following jars in the 'Installed libraries' list.
    prtapi.jar, com.sap.portal.ivs.api_landscape_api.jar, com.sap.portal.ivs.api_portalpcm_api, com.sap.portal.ivs.systemlandscapeservice_api
    Appreciate any pointers on the above. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Pankaj,
    I am not an expert but probably can still help you out...
    I did go through the URL and step 3 is divided in two steps:
    1. Making use of enviornment variable to access portal
    You can do that by (as mentioned in the URL example below) :
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,
                "com.sapportals.portal.prt.registry.PortalRegistryFactory");
    InitialContext context = new InitialContext(env);
    2. Using the JNDI lookup accessing the portal service you wish to access.
    IXSLTransformService xslTransformService =
                (IXSLTransformService) context.lookup(
                "/broker/services/" + IXSLTransformService.KEY);
    where KEY is the name of the service, that you wish to access. This service name should be defined in the portalapp.xml file in the format of <application name>.<service name>.
    If you have any more questions, please feel free.
    Regards and Good Luck,

  • Exception accessing portal over web dispatcher

    Hello experts,
    We are facing issue while accessing portal over web dispatcher on IE (7 & 8).
    We get following exception when we try to load any WebDynpro IView (both standard and custom)
    com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.sal.deployment.core.ClassLoaderException: Classloader of 'sap.com/pb' is null, even though application is started.
    We are able to execute the application in following ways though
    1. Accessing the portal directly bypassing webdispatcher
    2. Using Mozilla Firefox browser to access the webdispatcher URL.
    Please guide what is missing from the configuration perspective to make it work on IE.
    Appreciate the responses.

  • Unauthorised users accessing iviews through a direct URL

    Hi,
    How do you prevent unauthorised users from accessing iviews through a direct URL? e.g. From the BeX Web Template on testing a query a URL is known, this URL can then be used by user who have no rights to view/ execute this report (after portal logon).
    Can security zones be defined for the BeX iviews? If yes, how? Does setting the parameter Dcom.sap.nw.sz=true solve the problem?
    Appreciate your input.
    Many thanks,
    Dharmi

    Hi Bharath,
    Thank you for the input.
    Can you please be more specific as to which BW component ?
    I navigated to
    Go to permission editor: 'System Administration' -> 'Permissions' -> 'Portal Permissions'.
    folder: 'Security Zones' -> 'sap.com' -> 'NetWeaver.Portal' -> 'high_safety'
    There the rights are ok.

  • Error while accessing portal.....

    Hi Experts,
       We have installed EP 7.0 SP 9.  It's working fine, but yesterday we met the problem, we can't able to access portal.
      After giving username and password, its opening the portal homepage with the following JavaScript Error on the taskbar.
    <b>1. 'disable personalize' is undefined
    2. 'EPCM.getSAPTop().gHistoryFrameworkObj' is null or not an object
    3. 'ActiveTrackingEntryIndex' is null or not an object</b>
      After showing errors above, its showing the portal HomePage.  If we click on any roles is loading with busy symbol, we can't able to navigate to any role or any workset after that.
      Please tell me some solution for this, it's very urgent.
      Points will be awarded.
    Regards,
    Chinnadurai.R.

    I also recieved this error.  It took me a while to discover the problem.  It is caused by the order in which .Net is installed.  If when you go to Applicaiton Pools you do NOT see:
    - ASP.NET v4.0
    - ASP.NET v4.0 Classic
    If you only see
    - Classic .NET AppPool
    - DefaultAppPool
    - MBAMSitesAndSvcsAppPool
    Then you need to re run the setup of .NET using the commands below:
    Type cd C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\ and press <kbd>ENTER</kbd>.
    Type aspnet_regiis.exe -ir and press <kbd>ENTER</kbd> again.
