Accessing Web services and I don't mean RFCs

Hi,
Does anyone know if it possible to access "normal" web services via the SAP Widget Development Tools. I know that it is possible to access RFC via Web Services using the SAP Widget Foundation Library. What about other web services. For example, those that are created via CAF Core development work or web services that are available via the Internet.
From what I've seen there is no support of such calls and the developer has to do all the work himself.
Thanks.
Dick
P.S. I've looked at the widgets in the widget gallery and most use BAPIs via JCO.

Hi Richard,
Have you anytime accessed RFC via web servcies.
When I tried to access the web servcies which are displayed with "wsadmin" I couldnt access those.
Only those seen through se37 are obtained by ws_services.
Share the information if you have done this.
Thanks and Regards,
Sumangala

  • Accessing web services and invoking functions in JavaFX

    As a JavaFX beginner, I'm a bit confused how to invoke a web function.
    The following part is my SOAP request,
    - <soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
    - <soap:Body xmlns:ns1="http://ejb.production.platform.daps.oardc.oracle/">
      <ns1:findAllProduction />
      </soap:Body>
      </soap:Envelope>I understand that I need to get SOAP response which contains the attributes' value that I'm expecting. For this example, it should be returning a list of all production names (from findAllProduction method). In my own UI, I do have a button, pressing which this function should be invoked and value returned. So what kind of codes do I need to write in the action part of that button? I spent several hours searching related stuff online, but hardly came across any meaningful link, since most articles are telling how to set up HTTP and parse XML/JSON data, but not invoking a function.
    So how do I achieve this, can anyone give me a brief instruction or pass me a link? Thanks for this.

    So, basically, you want to run a function by its name?
    There are several ways to do that, from the ugly but simple and effective (if you have a limited set of functions) cascading ifs (if (fun == "findAllProduction") findAllProduction(); else if (fun == "doTheRightThing") doTheRightThing(); else ...) to using reflection (not easy, functions seem to be a bit elusive here).
    I just tried a middle ground, illustrated below:
    import java.util.HashMap;
    var message: String = "-";
    var functionList: ListView;
    var functions: String[] = [ "ShowOne", "ShowTwo", "ShowThree", "ShowFour" ];
    var functionSelector = new HashMap();
    var scene: Scene;
    Stage
        title: "Forum Test"
        scene: scene = Scene
            stylesheets: "{__DIR__}TestForum.css"
            width: 500
            height: 500
            content:
                VBox
                    content:
                        Text { content: bind message, font: Font { size: 20 } }
                        functionList = ListView
                            items: bind functions
                        Button
                            text: "Run function"
                            action: function (): Void
                                def functionName = functionList.selectedItem.toString();
                                def fun = functionSelector.get(functionName) as function():Void;
                                println(fun);
                                fun();
    function ShowOne(): Void { message = "Ichi"; }
    function ShowTwo(): Void { message = "Ni"; }
    function ShowThree(): Void { message = "San"; }
    function ShowFour(): Void { message = "Shi"; }
    functionSelector.put(functions[0], ShowOne);
    functionSelector.put(functions[1], ShowTwo);
    functionSelector.put(functions[2], ShowThree);
    functionSelector.put(functions[3], ShowFour);Here the functions are simplistic but can be as much complex as needed.
    The functions can be anonymous too, but I find better to make them named.

  • Not able to access web service with axis and tomcat

    Dear all
    i am trying to access web service using axis in tomcat.
    i downloaded axis-bin-1_4.zip, unzipped it and installed it properly in tomcat.
    i had tested axis, its working fine.

  • Deploying a VB dll using some web service and accessing it through java

    I'm new to Web Services Based Programming. I would like to know whether this is possible and if so has anyone tried it. I want to create a vb dll that contains the remote methods that the client will access from a java program. After going thru a lot of articles, I'm still unsure on how to do this. I found one method was to Create a VB program/dll, deploy it in a web service and create the java program that accesses by another web service.
    I'm doing this as part of my lab syllabus. The thing is My lab exercises do not state anything about the technologies that I can use to do this.
    This is all that is stated there:-
    Creation Of DLL Using VB And Deploy it in Java
    I just cant get any ideas other than deploying both the parts as web services. If anyone has Better ideas for this, I would really appreciate it.
    I dont know anything about CORBA for languages other than Java and I'm already using the servlets and EJB's in my normal life. I'm also learning the ORB based programming in java. Therefore your help will probably help me learn something new then what I know.

    Sorry I wasn't too specific in my last question.
    This is my java class calling the native method print
    //HeyWorld.java
    class HeyWorld {
    private native void print();
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    new HeyWorld().print();
    static {
    System.loadLibrary("HeyWorld");
    In this case, my C method for calling a C++ method: HelloWorld.cpp
    #include "jni.h"
    #include "stdio.h"
    #include "stdafx.h"
    #Include "HeyWorld.h" //this is where i get my function prototype
    #include "Test.h" //this is the C++ header where the print method and the Test class is
    JNIEXPORT void JNICALL
    Java_HeyWorld_print(JNIEnv *env, jobject obj)
    CTest a; //CTest is the print class I created
    a.print();
    //This is the header for Test.h
    class CTest: public CWinApp
    public:
         CTest(); //constructor
         void print(); //our method
    //And this is the implementation of the class Test.cpp
    void CTest::print()
         printf("Hey World!\n");
         return ;
    I could compile the Test.cpp, HeyWorld.cpp successfully. However when I tried to compile HeyWorld.cpp using
    cl -I<path of jdk include> -I<path of jdk include win32> -LD HeyWorld.cpp -FeHeyWorld.dll,
    the VC++ 6.0 compiler gave me this error:
    HeyWorld.obj:error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public:_thiscall CTest::CTest(void)"
    HeyWorld.obj:error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public:_thiscall CTest::print(void)"
    Thanks for the help.

  • Web Services and Custom Audit Trail

    How do I access the "Custom Audit Trail" via web services. I do not mean the few audit fields that are on each object.
    I specifically want to access this data related to the Opportunity record type, but other objects would have use also.
    Thanx

    I don't see anything in the documentation related to accessing this information but could be wrong.
    Could you use a workflow to write a event anytime a Opportunity is changed and access what you need that way?

  • Java app with web service and servlets

    Hi. I intend to make a java application which exposes some methods as a web service and as jsp/servlets. It's core functionality is not really web centric, but its more a java app with a web tier. I am not sure about how the architecture of such a system would look like using the java platform. I currently see three options:
    1. Run everything in a servlet container like tomcat. I hesitate to do this because i would be putting a lot of functionality which isn't about the web into a servlet container. Also, I have a lot of application scope data that is maintained and shared by all servlets/web services. However, it would be really easy just to put everything into tomcat and use ServletContext to maintain some global objects.
    2. Use a Java EE to seperate application/business logic and data access into session beans and entity beans. I hesitate to this because it seem a bit overkill because the system isn't very big or complex right now. It also means that I would have to learn to use EJB's instead of just using some POJOs.
    3. Run the web tier in a servlet container and the main app in a separate JVM, and then connect the tier by sending serialized objects over TCP sockets. I don't like writing network code but at least there is some separation of the tiers.
    What would you do? Maybe I have overlooked a much better solution to the problem?
    Let me just say that the system is the product of a student project spanning one semester, so it's important to choose the RIGHT solution (architectural-wise) instead of the something quick and dirty that is hard to defend.

    jschell wrote:
    Run everything in a servlet container like tomcatTomcat is a JEE container.Now I am confused. Maybe you mean Glassfish? Tomcat is definitely a web container(?).
    Let me just say that the system is the product of a student project spanning one semester, so it's important to choose the RIGHT solution (architectural-wise) That pretty much makes it impossible then.
    1. A "Right" solution is generally only proven by time.
    2. It requires a great deal of knowledge about the business domain.Yeah, you are right. Let be try to rephrase it. What solution (pattern) would be considered the most common or appropriate when you have a Java App and want to expose a few methods as a website and web service?
    I hesitate to do this because i would be putting a lot of functionality which isn't about the web into a servlet container. Also, I have a lot of application scope data that is maintained and shared by all servlets/web servicesHuh? Do you already have an exposed web service? If you already have a server which other clients communicate then where does this functionality that you don't want to be tomcat running now? Or where do you think that you want to run it? And if you are or do run it somewhere else then tomcat could access it the same way any other client accesses that server.Sorry, that sentence was written badly. I don't have anything right now. What I meant to write was that I will have a lot of application scope data, objects that are kept in memory as long as the server is running, shared by multiple servlet instances.

  • Help - cannot access web service outside web proxy

    I'm trying to access a public web service - and web proxy stops me from doing it.
    Here is my code:
    package test;
    import java.rmi.RemoteException;
    import javax.xml.rpc.ServiceException;
    import net.webservicex.www.WeatherForecastLocator;
    import net.webservicex.www.WeatherForecastSoap;
    import net.webservicex.www.WeatherForecastSoapStub;
    import net.webservicex.www.WeatherForecasts;
    import java.net.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class TestOutput {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
      initialiseConfiguration();
      printForecast();
    public static void initialiseConfiguration() {
      System.setProperty("http.proxySet", "true");
      System.setProperty("http.proxyHost", "proxyserver");
      System.setProperty("http.proxyPort", "8080");
      System.setProperty("http.proxyUser", "userid");
      System.setProperty("http.proxyPassword", "password");
    public static void printForecast() {
      try {
       WeatherForecastLocator wfl = new WeatherForecastLocator();
       WeatherForecastSoap wfs = wfl.getWeatherForecastSoap();
       WeatherForecasts forecasts = wfs.GetWeatherByZipCode("90210");
      } catch (Exception e) {
       e.printStackTrace();
    }Here, I was using the test web service located in www.webservicex.net/WeatherForecast.asmx
    I've created stubs using Eclipse (package net.webservicex.www) in another project, compiled into a jar, and imported into the test project.
    The test is working beautifully from my home. It's failing in the office with the error:
    AxisFault
    faultCode: {http://xml.apache.org/axis/}HTTP
    faultSubcode:
    faultString: (407)Proxy Authentication Required ( The ISA Server requires authorization to fulfill the request. Access to the Web Proxy service is denied. )
    faultActor:
    faultNode:
    faultDetail:
    {}:return code: 407
    It's failing when it's trying to execute
    WeatherForecasts forecasts = wfs.GetWeatherByZipCode("90210");
    The "initialiseConfiguration" function is doing its job OK - it's actually helping me to go through the proxy - if I'm doing simple stuff like accessing internet sites. I've tested it - I can get to any external site and read from it. The moment I disable "initialiseConfiguration", I can't get through the proxy.
    So, probably, the problem lies in the web services client classes generated by Eclipse and based on axis. Maybe, the code gets through the proxy, but then starts to do something without authentication??? (I'm not sure if it's possible at all, but who knows...)
    I've read a lot of postings on this subject and couldn't find a solution that would work for me. I'm very surprised, because my situation is very common - there are more and more public web services, and most organisations have firewalls. Obviously, I'm making some very elementary mistake.
    Please help

    We have the same problem, not with SOAP but with XML-RPC (err 407). We're still stumped, and i agree that the problem should be common, but i don't see the mistake, so it's not that obvious.
    Hypothesis: the proxy is spying on the requests content , and filtering out xml. Can you check that ?

  • Web Services and JHS

    My company is exploring the use of JHeadstart and we are very impressed with its capabilities. The enterprise environment into which our system will be deployed requires separation between the View Layer, and the Model Layer, with a SOAP-based messaging agent as the go-between (it's MQ series-based). We have been able to get a prototype plain-old UIX application to work where we deploy the Application Module in the Model project as a web service, and then create a data control from the stub to consume in the UIX ViewController project. We can then simply drag and drop the Web Service call result sets onto the UIX pages. However, when trying to do this with JHeadstart, the Wizard for creating Application Structure Files requests an Application Module on one of the first screens. In our environment, we won't be able to allow the ViewController project to see the Model project. Is there any way to use a web service instead of the Application Module? If not, is there any plan to support this type of activity in a future JHS release?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dan Schiff

    Dan,
    Currently JHeadstart only supports ADF Business Components as the Business Service layer (directly accessed, not through a Web Service wrapper). As you found out, ADF supports other Business Services as well, not only Web Services but also TopLink, EJB, etc.
    JHeadstart is primarily intended for data manipulation (select, insert, update, delete) and our philosophy is that that type of functionality (that part of your application) is most efficiently handled directly by ADF Business Components. Also, this is the most productive technique for application developers. Of course, the end result of generating an application with JHeadstart is that you have a "normal" ADF application, to which you can add Web Service functionality with the normal JDeveloper visual editors and drag-and-drop features.
    So you could generate efficient data manipulation screens using JHeadstart and direct ADF Business Components, and then add interoperability with other Business Services to your application using Web Services. The latter part is not JHeadstart-generated.
    The next JHeadstart release (10.1.3) will be focused on supporting JSF (JavaServer Faces). We are also looking into support for other Business Services like TopLink, but we don't have any schedule for that yet.
    kind regards,

  • Diff b/w Web service and window service

    What is the difference between web service and window service, whether the both are same or not, Give some explain about that each one and give some examples also.

    An XML Web service is a component that implements program
    logic and provides functionality for diseparate
    applications. These applications use standard protocols,
    such as HTTP, XML, and SOAP, to access the functionality.
    XML Web services use XML-based messaging to send and
    receive data, which enables heterogeneous applications to
    interoperate with each other. You can use XML Web services
    to integrate applications that are written in different
    programming languages and deployed on different platforms.
    In addition, you can deploy XML Web services within an
    intranet as well as on the Internet. While the Internet
    brings users closer to organizations, XML Web services
    allow organizations to integrate their applications.
    A Windows service starts much before any user logs in to
    the system (if it has been setup to start at boot up
    process). A Windows service can also be setup in such a way
    that it requires a user to start it manually ? the ultimate
    customization!
    Windows services run as background processes. These
    applications do not have a user interface, which makes them
    ideal for tasks that do not require any user interaction.
    You can install a Windows service on any server or computer
    that is running Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows NT.
    You can also specify a Windows service to run in the
    security context of a specific user account that is
    different from the logged on user account or the default
    computer account. For example, you can create a Windows
    service to monitor performance counter data and react to
    threshold values in a database.

  • Problem in accessing Web Services developed using JDeveloper 10.1.3

    We have developed J2EE 1.4 JAX RPC Web Services using Jdeveloper 10.1.3.
    I take the WSDL document generated by JDev and created Web Proxy for that WSDL.
    I have developed the Swing Client for accessing the Web Service and when i tried to run from JDev it is working fine.
    My requirement is to access the swing client from Java Web start.
    When i tried to run from Web start, I am getting the following exception.
    standard type mapping initialization error: javax.xml.rpc.JAXRPCException: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Unable to create SOAP Factory: Provider com.sun.xml.messaging.saaj.soap.ver1_1.SOAPFactory1_1Impl not found

    I am also having the same problem. Calling a web service inside JDeveloper 10.1.3.3 works fine. When I deploy to a jar file and include all Jars that the dependency analyzer identifies, the following error occurs:
    standard type mapping initialization error: javax.xml.rpc.JAXRPCException: javax
    .xml.soap.SOAPException: Unable to create SOAP Factory: Provider com.sun.xml.messaging.saaj.soap.ver1_1.SOAPFactory1_1Impl not found
    Your work around defining Java system properties does work, but why do we need to do this using the Oracle SOAP stack?
    If there are alternatives to this problem please share. Thank you.

    thank in advance

    Hi,
    java.io.IOException: Unable to open connection to host "128.9.125.6:8000". Connection timed out: could be due to invalid address. first check it are you able to connect the WSNavigator. I think you are not able to connect the WSNavigator and are you able to see the WebService in WSNavigator?
    Procedure
    To import a Web service model, proceed as follows:
           1.      Choose the context menu entry -
    Create Model on the -
    Models node of the relevant component.
           2.      In the model wizard, choose Import Web Service Model followed by Next.
           3.      In the second wizard window, enter a model name and specify the package and source code directory. The name of the proxy package is created automatically when you specify the model package.
           4.      Select whether your Web service source is from a local server, is addressed using a URL, or whether it is a UDDI service.
           5.      If you select Local File System or URL, choosing Next will take you to the following window in which you enter a local WSDL URL or select one by choosing Browse.
           6.      If you selected the option UDDI or URL, choosing Next will take you to the following wizard window in which you either enter a WSDL URL of a UDDI service directly or select one by choosing UDDIu2026
    Enter the WSDL description of the Web service in the Wsdl field u2013 for example, http://webservices.matlus.com/scripts/emailwebservice.dll/wsdl/IemailService for an e-mail service.
    You do not need to make any entries in the next step, Proxy Definition / URI Package Mappings. Choose Finish to close the window.
           7.      Switch to the Package Explorer view, select the file lport1.lp in the directory \src\packages\<myPackage>\, and check the port entries.
    Hope this helps!!
    Regards
    Vijay

  • Accessing Web Service via Bluetooth

    Hi,
    I'm developing a client for a web service which is running on my system.
    Can I access this web service via bluetooth.
    Thanks

    I can give you one solution not direct but in some tricky way you can achieve what you are trying to do.
    1. Built a client application in Java and run it as a service in your laptop and will be communicate with your application at the mobile end.
    2. Send some triggering command to that application(the service you are running in laptop) from your mobile which will access the web service and perform the action you want your web service to do and send the result over bluetooth to your mobile app.
    In this case instead of using the bluetooth directly to access the web service you are making one proxy application to perform. Hope this solution will help you out to move ahead. Let me know whether it works for you or not.
