Accidentally deleted energysaver prefs.

Hi,
I've accidentally deleted the energysaver.prefs file, thinking that was just a link from finder's history
and now there's no more energy saver icon in the system preferences...
Everything else runs smoothly and I don't want to make new clean install and updates etc...
Does anyone know a solution; would it be possible to just replace an energysaver.prefs from someone else; could anyone give me this file?
PPC 10.5.6...
THANXX

If the pane is missing it isn't the preferences file (.plist) you deleted but the preference pane itself.
You can replace this one thing on your computer using the installer disc using [Pacifist|http://www.charlessoft.com>

Accidentally deleted Bonjour from my computer.  iTunes will not open.  Running Windows XP. Help please.

Uninstalling and then reinstalling your iTunes should also get your Bonjour reinstalled.
For the reinstall, use an installer downloaded from the Apple website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
... or you could get it back via your Apple Software Update for Windows.
If you'd prefer not to uninstall iTunes, try the following procedure.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the Bonjour.msi (or Bonjour64.msi) to do a standalone Bonjour install.

  • Is there a way to retrieve contacts accidentally deleted?

Several times recently I have entered a lot of info in the 'notes'
section of a contact, inadvertently swiped my finger (in that
section) and brought up the red delete option. In trying desperately to
NOT delete the info, I somehow must hit Delete and all my info is lost.
Ok, I am uncoordinated or something. But, is there no way to retrieve that info
once it's been deleted, accidentally or intentionally? I prefer always to be
prompted with the "are you sure you want to delete this" option.
Similarly, if not paying close attention and you delete a contact (my
fingers don't seem to be listening all that well to my brain), again there
seems to be no way to undo it or be prompted with a helpful 'are you sure'
    message.
Is there any way for me to retrieve my information???
I am seriously frustrated. Naturally with myself, but also with Apple. I
don't understand why there isn't an undo option or something. Given that for
most of us our contacts are a very important deal, and so many of us do things almost
on autopilot these days, there needs to be a means for not permanently losing
our contacts, or our notes about them, due to momentary lack of attention or
    coordination or whatever!
    I'm hopeful that
there is a way that I am just not aware of ? Please let me know if you have a
solution and thank you very much in advance!

Thank you again for your helpful response. I actually have 6.0, but have been afraid to update beyond that as I've heard from so many that it is problematic. I know I should upgrade my phone, I just cant make that happen right now.
Backing up at the end of the day would not solve the problem for me though, because the info would have already been deleted. What happens, infrequently, is that I enter all the info in the notes of a contact, and then end up accidentally deleting all of it b/c I accidentally swiped my finger and made the delete option appear. In trying to not delete, I somehow end up deleting the stuff I only just entered, if not paying close attention. So, before I've even had the chance to back the info up, it's been deleted
Anyway thanks for your feedback and suggestions.

  • Accidentally Deleted iMovie DropBox

    Hello Everyone!
    Basic Report:
Here's what I believe happened: Yesterday, I was busy cleaning out screen recordings and other old videos from iMovie, as they were taking up 450GB on my computer and.. Well yes it was in need of a cleaning. After deleting over half of it, I stopped. Today, while I was trying to share a screen recording from Quicktime Player X, it stated "Cannot Locate Your iMovie DropBox." In the process of deleting all those files/movies, I believe I accidentally deleted my iMovie dropbox, making it impossible to share videos to iMovie.
Question: How can I recover my iMovie DropBox?
Note: I'm not clueless about computers, but I'm not the brightest with them either. A basic explanation is much appreciated [:
    Thank you!!

Q: Where and what types of backups do you have?
Are you really using a 65lb Mac Pro or something else?
Normally you move everything to archive or backup, you clone your drive first before making changes, just look on MacUpdate.com for Carbon Copy Cloner.
Buy and have at least two backups. CCC and TimeMachine.
MOVE your files to another drive. Prefer to see drives at 50% and maybe max of 70% full.
You have four internal drive bays. Use 'em. A 2TB WD Black is under US$150. A green 3TB more like $109.
Then leave your drive 'as is.'' and move the system (with CCC) to a small fast 240GB SSD.
All your data on say 2 x 2TB or even just one 4TB drive would be ample. So you don't have to worry about a mere 1TB or so of storage.
And then add external drives using USB3 or eSATA PCIe controllers for your Mac Pro like CalDigit or Sonnet. That way you can have backups off line, and expand your storage beyond just 4 internal drives.
Never delete files until you know they are backed up and safe first.
Now we get to DATA RESCUE 3 demo ($99 for program) and a new spare drive to recover file to. The program is easy to use and self-explanatory but read the guide that comes with it (pdf)

  • Accidental deletion of data in contacts application file

While trying to follow instructions from an application web site to correct doubled listing in my contact file, I accidentally deleted the date in the contacts file under applications rather than the contact storage file.  (settings/applications/manage applications/contacts.  The Droid seems to work OK but I am wondering what I deleted and if I need to take it in and have it somehow restored.  Does anyone know what data was in the Contact file?
    Thanks

It should just be a simple system file that will not affect the use of the device. However if it does begin to affect the use and operation the device you can always perform a factory reset to clear it back to like new.

  • Accidentally deleted exchange account and lost contacts....please help

    Hello all,
I have a unique problem and I'm worried that it may not be fixable but hopefully it is.  Here is the long detailed explanation.
I was trying to start setup for an outlook account to sync my business emails to my phone (which I never got around to doing)  I noticed that under mail/contacts etc.  that there was an exchange account.....with it being early in the AM and still in bed I accidentally deleted it.  I noticed immedietly after that my texts were coming in with numbers rather than contact names.  I don't usually use the start mail (blue with white envelope) I had it archived away.....because I have the gmail app which was much more user friendly.  Whoever set up the exchange account must have been at the verizon store when i bought the phone possibly.  I did not do this myself.  Anyways I have a few more problems that makes this issue worse....for some time now my iCloud has been saying it does not have the appropriate amount of storage......(And I assume is not backing up my contacts)  I've never really had to use iCloud before so I think this may not help either.  I looked on gmail and only certain contacts....older ones were on there.  I went to a verizon store and he helped me re-add my exchange account which im assuming was through my gmail email (Only email I really use) and certain contacts seemed to pop up.  After leaving the store I realized that a lot of the newer contacts I've added were still missing......I'm not sure what else I can do to recover these contacts if anything but I am now up for suggestion.  This is basically where I'm at right now.....not totally missing everything but missing a good deal.  Also would like to get my cloud up and running again so this doesn't happen again.  I haven't hooked to iTunes yet but I never really did that regularly so that might not help either.  Like I said I am up for any suggestion......maybe a way to look up my exchange account if by chance it wasn't under my gmail email account......Thanks in advance!

  • How can I access data from accidentally deleted user?

I was given a MacBook Pro by a family member. I set myself as the Administrator, but could not get rid of the previous owner's name on the Home folder.
In my attempts I accidentally deleted something that made the entire computer unaccessable. I can boot up, however, all the work and applications I installed are unaccessable. I can't even open Preferences.
I used TechTool Pro to start up and explore the drive, and found that the previous owner's name was on a folder with a red-circled minus sign. The data (considerable) was inside, but I can't access it.
Is there any way I can get access to that data? I slaved the laptop to my iMac and transferred the folder (with 32 gb of data).
When I tried to open it I got the message: "The folder "sandy....." can't be opend because you don't have permission to see its contents." I used Get Info on the folder and changed Sharing and Permissions to Read and Write, but still no access.
What can I do, if anything to gain access to that folder?

I just accidentally deleted a video on my iphone 5... Is there a chance I can get it back? If so how?

If  you backed up the phone when the video was still on it, restoring the backup will get it back.  However, anything new on the phone since the backup will be deleted.

  • How can I login in to icloud and retrieve a note which I have accidentally deleted on my ipad?

I Have accidentally deleted a note from my ipad  and I know it has been backed up yesterday onto icloud but I cant seem to login into icloud to retrieve the note? the icloud.com address just throws up Add Icloud to this device, when I know it is already on it!

You can't use mobile Safari on a device to log into icloud.com.  To get to your data, you must use the associated apps.  For contacts, use the Contacts app.  Only with a computer's browser can you log into icloud.com.

  • I accidentally deleted Garageband on my MacBook Pro, version 10.6.8.  The new version of Garageband is only compatible with 10.9 and above.  Is it possible to still get the older version?  OR, can I get another copy of the startup CD  for my computer

I accidentally deleted GarageBand on my MacBook Pro, version 10.6.8.  The new version of GarageBand is only compatible with 10.9 and above.  Is it possible to still get the older version?  OR, can I get another copy of the startup CD that came with my computer so that I can reinstall GarageBand?

The new version of GarageBand is only compatible with 10.9 and above.
If your Mac can run MacOS X 10.6.8, it probably can be upgraded to Yosemite, if you don't have to stick to Snowleopard for other reasons.
Is it possible to still get the older version?
Amazon or eBay are still selling iLife '11 installer disks, and you could reinstall GarageBand from these DVDs. But it will be expensive.
Have you checked your backups, if you can restore GarageBand from a backup?
OR, can I get another copy of the startup CD that came with my computer so that I can reinstall GarageBand?
Sometimes the AppleStore Support will replace missing installer CDs for a fee.

  • How can you restore photo stream photos back to Apple TV after accidentally deleting from your iPad

After accidentally deleting photo stream  photos on my iPad, this deleted photo stream photos on my Apple TV.  How can I restore these photos back to my Apple TV and also to  my iPad?  Suggestions welcomed

If you have a backup of your iPad prior to the date of deleting your photos, you can find them. Otherwise, you might be able to find them.
If you do have this backup, then you'll have to restore your iPad to that point.
If you had a Mac with iPhoto, then when you connected your iPad, iPhoto would store the photos separately from Photostream.
I despise Photostream. It's turned off everywhere on my system. It is one of the most useless pieces of junk that Apple has foisted on my Mac and iOS. But hey, that's just my opinion.

  • How can I resend an Apple Store gift card? The email was accidentally deleted.

I was sent an Apple Store (NOT an iTunes) gift card over email, but I must have accidentally deleted it. I know you can resend iTunes gift cards, is there anyway to resend a gift card for the Apple Store?

I know that I can do that. I don't feel like spending any of my money or going and buying another card. I also doubt that im ever going to need more than 50 bucks on itunes. Im asking for a solution that doesnt require much effort, nor money, nor time. Also most stores sell iTunes gift cards, not just apple stores. And I do have a credit card... but thats beside the point.

How can I restore a purchased iTunes movie that I accidentally deleted? Thanks.  BB

You are not licensed to burn any iTunes video products, regardless of whether it's to a data DVD or a playable DVD.
See the iTunes Terms & Conditions, Usage Rules v.   "(v) You shall not be entitled to burn video iTunes Products or tone iTunes Products."   Additionally, you are only licensed to use iTunes products on iTunes authorized devices, which DVD players are not.

  • I accidentally deleted my backup from icloud on my iphone and now when I go into icloud in the settings it doesn't give me the option to backup my iphone to my icloud account anymore? How can I get my phone to backup to icloud again?

I accidentally deleted the latest backup for my iphone 6 on icloud like a week ago and now I can't backup my phone to icloud at all.  When I go into settings, then into icloud, and then into manage my storage it does not give me the option to backup my iphone to my icloud account anymore. How do I get the "backup my iphone now" option in the manage my storage part of the icloud setting? Thanks.

Hey guys I figured out how to solve the issue.
You need to go to settings>general>restrictions.
Turn off restrictions and your iCloud and twitter will start working.
    Enjoy.
