Accordion quick launch SharePoint
hi
I want to modify SharePoint Foundation 2010 quick launch menu as is the photo
thank you
Hi,
To modify the style of the quick launch as you want, custom code using jQuery and CSS would be required.
The two demos below would be helpful, you can adjust the CSS style of the dynamic effect to meet your requirement:
http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/UploadFile/sagarp/accordion-style-left-navigation-using-jquery-and-css-in-shar688/
https://wiki.base22.com/display/btg/How+to+do+an+accordion+effect+to+quick+launch+menu+with+jQuery+in+Sharepoint+2010
Another similar thread for your reference:

How can I remove the Quick Launch area from a SharePoint site
We have a SharePoint site that includes a Quick Launch area by default. We know how to add and delete items from the Quick Launch area but how can we delete the Quick Launch space (this would shift the main body portion over to the left and taking
over the space once occupied by the Quick Launch area)?Hi,
You can refer the below urls.

When we try to deploy a wsp to sharepoint containing code to generate quick launch menu we get the following error messages when running the last enable-spfeature command in powershell. The same code is working in the development environment, but when we
deploy to a test server the following error occurs:
Add-SPSolution "C:\temp\ImpactSharePoint.wsp"
Install-SPSolution -Identity impactsharepoint.wsp -GACDeployment
Enable-SPFeature impactsharepoint_branding -url http://im-sp1/sites/impact/
Enable-SPFeature impactsharepoint_pages -url http://im-sp1/sites/impact/

Quick launch links to documents, can only save the document once
Hi,
We have a problem in SharePoint 2007.
We have some links to documents in the quick launch menu. First, these were opened as read-only per default.
This was fixed by adding file:// instead of the http://
Now we can save the document/excel/... once, but when clicking save a second time, office gives a non-informative error: 'The document was not saved.' with a link 'Was this information helpful?'. So it doesn't save either. This is verified, because when
I close the document after this, it asks to 'save as' to another location.
This is tested with a bunch of accounts, also DC admin accounts, which have full control over sharepoint.
When opening the documents in the library, there is no problem. It's only the links in the quick launch that don't respond as required.
Hope someone has a workaround for this.
Kind regards,
InkendaalJust use again the http:// hyperlink and reconfigure the browser settings correct!
File links are not made for use with SharePoint even the file links are not 100% supported in a web browser... -
How to add a link under quick launch using custom actions?
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/bb802730(v=office.15).aspx
Custom actions allow us to create feature to add a link under site settings, site actions menu and even central admin.
Is there any way we can extend this feature to allow links being added under quick launch? I tried providing location Microsft.SharePoint.Navigation but that had no effecthi
you don't need to use custom actions in order to add links to the quick launch menu. It allows to add links programmatically to the menu items collections directly, see e.g.
Adding Links to Quick Launch. From this link check the following example which adds an item under the Lists heading in Quick Launch.:

How to change the look and feel for Heading of quick launch menu in project server 2010
Hi
can someone tell me how to change the look and feel of Header names in quick launch.
I want the header to be displayed in Bold with Underline to it.
could this be possible for just header in quick launch in project server 2010.Hi Rohan
It does not work this way. You have to use a content editor webpart.
See references below that might help you starting with this customisation:

How to Customise Quick Launch in Blog
Hi All,
I am trying to customise the css for the quick launch on a blog site and cannot get the text on hover color to display correctly?
I have also tried using a theme (built with the palette tool) and the navigationhover text also doesn't display even though it is set and saved in the tool.
Can anybody give me some pointers.
Thanks in advance.Hello Stonecoldice,
Please refer to below mentioned URL. It talks about the same as your requirement. https://www.nothingbutsharepoint.com/sites/eusp/Pages/Brand-SharePoint-Quicklaunch-Menu-links-Backgrounds.aspx
<style>

Need to add link to report library on quick launch
I hid the "Report Library" quick launch link on the left hand side of the Sharepoint portal home page, and then was informed that it needed to be displayed again .I selected "Yes" for "Display this document
library on the Quick Launch?" when setting the report library properties, but it doesn't show up in the Quick Launch bar. In fact, the Quick Launch bar only displays a link to "Libraries," which opens the All Documents page.
Is there some sort of setting in the Site Settings or in Central Administration that can resolve this problem ?
DavidIf the Publishing Feature is enabled go to Site Settings > Navigation (Maybe the link is set to hide or make a new heading).
If the Publishing Feature is not enabled go to Site Settings > Tree view (under Look and Feel) > Enable Quick Launch or enable Tree View. -
Show Quick Launch (Side Navigation) in Search Results page
Hi,
I created a custom search results page in a site (under Pages library). In this page the Quick Launck (side navigation) is hidden. Any solution to display it?
keren tsurYou can try this:
1. Edit page
2. Create a custom text file and insert the following CSS, which will make the Quick Launch menu visible:
<style type="text/css">
#s4-leftpanel {
display:inherit!important;
width:155px!important;
.s4-ca {
margin-left:155px!important;
</style>
Save the file, naming it showQuickLaunch.txt. Store the text file in the Style Library or on the server.
3. Insert a Content Editor Web Part on the page in which you want to hide the Quick Launch menu. Edit the Web Part, entering the link to the showQuickLaunch.txt file.

Subitems on mysite quick launch navigation
Dears,
I was trying to modify the existing quick launch navigation of the mysite (located http://sp2013:8080/sites/mysite/person.aspx) through the navigation settings.
Eventhough i have added the subitems as above, the quick launch navigation on mysite didn't reflect the change as i expcted. the mysite looks as below as usual:
What i am expecting is the quick launch navigation to be look like below:
About Me
Link1
Link2
Link3
Sublink1
Sublink2
I tried changing the StaticDisplayLevels and MaximumDynamicDisplayLevels attributes on the SharePoint:AspMenu and it didnt give me the expected result.
<SharePoint:AspMenu id="V4QuickLaunchMenu" runat="server" EnableViewState="false" DataSourceId="QuickLaunchSiteMap" UseSimpleRendering="true" Orientation="Vertical" StaticDisplayLevels="2" AdjustForShowStartingNode="true" MaximumDynamicDisplayLevels="2" SkipLinkText="" />
please advise.
thanks in advance,
AmmarHi,
I can reproduce this issue in my environment.
We will help to submit the issue to proper pipeline for you.
Again, thank you for your report which will definitely make SharePoint a better products. There might be some time delay.
Appreciate your time and patience.

PowerShell script to update quick launch navigation.
Hi,
We recently did some reorganization, which involved nesting some sites within others. Some of these sites were based on a custom template, and as a consequence, the quick launch URLs, although relative, did not update. I found some potentially
useful PowerShell script, from
here.
function Repair-SPLeftNavigation {
[CmdletBinding()]
Param(
[Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][System.String]$Web,
[Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][System.String]$FindString,
[Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][System.String]$ReplaceString
Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
$SPWeb = Get-SPWeb $Web
$SPWeb.Navigation.QuickLaunch | ForEach-Object {
if($_.Url -match $FindString){
$linkUrl = $_.Url
Write-Host "Updating $linkUrl with new URL"
$_.Url = $_.Url.Replace($FindString,$ReplaceString)
$_.Update()
$_.Children | ForEach-Object {
if($_.Url -match $FindString){
$linkUrl = $_.Url
Write-Host "Updating $linkUrl with new URL"
$_.Url = $_.Url.Replace($FindString,$ReplaceString)
$_.Update()
$SPWeb.Dispose()
The problem I see is that the original URL string is '/data/studysites/site' and the replacement URL is '/researchers/data/studysites/site', and it looks like this script would go through and repair the incorrect links while
breaking the correct ones.
I'm trying to use the -like operator instead of the -match operators to match the $FindString based on a URL that
begins with '/data/studysites/site' rather than contains it, which should (I'm thinking) exclude correct links (which already start with '/researchers.'). This isn't going well though. I am guessing I don't understand how to use the -like
operator with wilodcard variables. Here's what I came up with.
function Repair-SPLeftNavigation {
[CmdletBinding()]
Param(
[Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][System.String]$Web,
[Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][System.String]$FindString,
[Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][System.String]$ReplaceString
Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
$SPWeb = Get-SPWeb $Web
$SPWeb.Navigation.QuickLaunch | ForEach-Object {
if($_.Url -like '$FindString*'){
$linkUrl = $_.Url
Write-Host "Updating $linkUrl with new URL"
$_.Url = $_.Url.Replace($FindString,$ReplaceString)
$_.Update()
$_.Children | ForEach-Object {
if($_.Url -like '$FindString*'){
$linkUrl = $_.Url
Write-Host "Updating $linkUrl with new URL"
$_.Url = $_.Url.Replace($FindString,$ReplaceString)
$_.Update()
$SPWeb.Dispose()
}#endFunction
Help much appreciated!Hi Mike,
Tried that, and in that case, it didn't seem to do anything.
function Repair-SPLeftNavigation {
[CmdletBinding()]
Param(
[Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][System.String]$Web,
[Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][System.String]$FindString,
[Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][System.String]$ReplaceString
Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
$SPWeb = Get-SPWeb $Web
$SPWeb.Navigation.QuickLaunch | ForEach-Object {
if($_.IsExternal -AND $_.Url -like "$FindString*"){
$linkUrl = $_.Url
Write-Host "Updating $linkUrl with new URL"
$_.Url = $_.Url.Replace($FindString,$ReplaceString)
$_.Update()
$_.Children | ForEach-Object {
if($_.IsExternal -AND $_.Url -like "$FindString*"){
$linkUrl = $_.Url
Write-Host "Updating $linkUrl with new URL"
$_.Url = $_.Url.Replace($FindString,$ReplaceString)
$_.Update()
$SPWeb.Dispose()
I ran the script, adding the -verbose flag, and got this:
PS C:\Scripts> Repair-SPLeftNavigation -Web http://loki/researchers/data/WHIStudies/StudySites/ -FindString "/data/WHIStudies/StudySites" -ReplaceString "/researchers/data/WHIStudies/StudySites" -Verbose
VERBOSE: Leaving BeginProcessing Method of Get-SPWeb.
VERBOSE: Leaving ProcessRecord Method of Get-SPWeb.
VERBOSE: Leaving EndProcessing Method of Get-SPWeb.
PS C:\Scripts>
I then tried expanding the quotes to include the whole IF statement:
function Repair-SPLeftNavigation {
[CmdletBinding()]
Param(
[Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][System.String]$Web,
[Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][System.String]$FindString,
[Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][System.String]$ReplaceString
Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
$SPWeb = Get-SPWeb $Web
$SPWeb.Navigation.QuickLaunch | ForEach-Object {
if("$_.IsExternal -AND $_.Url -like '$FindString*'"){
$linkUrl = $_.Url
Write-Host "Updating $linkUrl with new URL"
$_.Url = $_.Url.Replace($FindString,$ReplaceString)
$_.Update()
$_.Children | ForEach-Object {
if("$_.IsExternal -AND $_.Url -like '$FindString*'"){
$linkUrl = $_.Url
Write-Host "Updating $linkUrl with new URL"
$_.Url = $_.Url.Replace($FindString,$ReplaceString)
$_.Update()
$SPWeb.Dispose()
This got me the following error. It seems it is trying to "fix" some URLs that don't need fixing, but not fixing those that do. :)
Updating /researchers/data/WHIStudies/StudySites/AS297 with new URL
Exception calling "Update" with "0" argument(s): "Cannot open "/researchers/researchers/data/WHIStudies/StudySites/AS297": no such file or folder."

Server 2010 SP2 - Quick Launch and Permissions
Hello,
With server 2010, we would like to have on the PWA navigation pane a link to a sharepoint list in the BI Center.
We would like that only PMO's will see this link.
Is it possible to restrict audience in Server Settings --> Quick Launch?
Another question, is it possible to give a permission on the list based on a Project Server Group?
Thanks,
BarakHello,
You can create custom permissions for the PWA quick launch if that helps. See the link below:
For 2007 (but applicable to 2010 too):

Details on 2010 support:

Quick Launch Flyout Display Issue
When I set the :
StaticDisplayLevels="1"
MaximumDynamicDisplayLevels="3"
My Flyouts work, but they are overlapping. In the example below, the Links for (Password Recovery, Client Account Creation, and FBA User Management) are sub menus of the User Maintenance header. Also notice the dark black arrow below User maintenance.
I assume this is a CSS issue, but not really sure where/why. I've been using developer tools, and trying to sort this out.Hi,
We can do as follows:
1. Try to use SharePoint Designer to modify the master page, find the
V4QuickLaunchMenu, Set the value of the StaticDisplayLevels
attribute and the MaximumDynamicDisplayLevels attribute to
1.
2.Check your IE version, it is recommend to use IE10 in SharePoint 2013.
3. Check whether there is customize CSS style. If yes, please provide it for further research.
