Accounts software for sole trader/small business recommendation?

Can anyone recommend software for a self employed business owner. Dosen't have to be detailed, I'm not even VAT registered! Probably more of a book keeping package with end of year P&L account.

Oh i see, yes we have one of those taxes, by a different name.
There is a topic here about invoice software. I don't know if that is suitable.

Generally, any spreadsheet capable application, can provide a simple means of keeping track of business entries. I find Appleworks spreadsheets are sufficient for my simple accounting. Something like that may be all you need.

  • [App Store bad] How to purchase Lion upgrade software for 1-10 small business users?

I think the App Store is great for non-commercial individual users.  However, I think it is preventing both OS X and iOS adoption in small business since it is much easier to purchase PC software as either physical media or software deownloads and keys that can be distributed to the employee who needs it.
Does anyone have any experience on purchasing multiple OS X Lion upgrades for a company similar to the following?
150 employees, less than 10 OS X users.
IT manager insists on pruchasing and controlling all software deployed on the corporate network.
Employees are *strongly* discouraged or just plain not allowed to expense purchases.
I understand a single Appled ID can not purchase multiple OS X Lion upgrades to deploy on multiple machines.  It seems like the App Store is forcing small business to reimburse each employee for software purchases made through their individual personal Apple ID.  What happens when they leave the company?  This is a strategy that I think will make IT managers and purchasing managers reject adoption of Max OS X.
The only option that seems to satisfy the above is the physical media option of the OS X Lion USB Thumb Drive which at $69 per commerical user's machine will exceeds twice the cost of the $29.99 upgrade.
    Thoughts?

Volume licensing requires +20 users so that does not help a small company with a handful of OS X users.
"Volume license contracts and maintenance agreements are available for all Apple products with a minimum quantity of 20 licenses."
For commercial users, you cannot legally install a single $29.99 upgrade on all machines.  Yes, it may be possible but IT managers, even at small business companies, are concerned with what is legal.  I think the App Store is a contributor to additional reasons for keeping OS X out of the small business world.  It complicates the lives of purchasing and IT managers.

  • Accounting software for MAC

  • What is the best account software for ox lion

Please let me know what is the best accounting software for ox lion

Money is very popular, but it's a personal bank account and financial manager app, not business accounting software. There's very few of those to pick from for the Mac that are worth buying.
    QuickBooks for Mac 2013
    MYOB AccountEdge
Two versions of this one. Check the Pro and Basic features to see which one would suit your needs.
    MoneyWorks Gold for Mac
They also have MoneyWorks Express for about half the cost of the Gold version. Depends on how many features you need.

  • Accounting software for small trucking company

I have been looking for accounting software specific to the truckin industry for mac.  I really don't want to go back to a PC just for this.  I can't seem to find anything at all...
    Any feedback would be appreciated...

Industry-specific accounting and business management software is quite specialized and tends to the platform the most companies run, which even after all the gains in Mac market share is still Windows. So it's quite likely that the only software you'll find for the trucking industry is for Windows. That won't preclude you from keeping your Mac, though, if you have an Intel-based Mac. You can run Windows and Windows software on it either by Boot Camp (which runs a bit faster but requires you to reboot your Mac to switch) or one of the virtualization solutions (VMWare Fusion, Parallels Desktop, VirtualBox) which run Windows within Mac OS X and so doesn't require rebooting. You don't get quite as good performance with virtualization, but for an accounting package it should be more than sufficient.

This is most likely the same software that your accountant, if you use one is running. So, it makes it pretty easy just sending your QB files to them.

  • Accounting software for Macs

    Hi,
Can anyone advise me of a good, simple (for small business use) software accounts package that is compatible with Macs. I have a MacBook Pro.
All the packages I know, including Sage, say they are Windows only compatible and I am reluctant to go down the Boot camp route, partitioning my hard drive, with no accountability from Apple or the software supplier.
One favourite firm made very disparaging comments about the Mac - saying it is only for 'designers and not people who run businesses'. As a new Mac user, I am both interested in design and run a business (and want to be able to do my accounts on this machine!).
    Any advice appreciated.
    Thanks so much.

    HI brereton
There seem to be loads of accounting, invoicing and office functions on apple.
Best pop into a apple store or check online APP STORE now, as I've being looking into getting the Bento box thing with diaries and small business functions.
Id like to know if there's a professional invoicing package, money management and over all small business app too.
    Good luck
please rsvp me if you have any luck.
(im popping into the regent street mac store next week so will revisit this chat then)

  • Configuration Guide for Global Trade Service Business Package

    Hello,
Can anyone provide me with the link where I can download the installation/cofiguration guide for the Business Package for Global Trade Service.
    Regards
    Deb

    Hi Deb,
in SAP Note 963735 you will find a description how to obtain product documentation for GTS.
<i>You can access the product documentation on SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/swdc -> Download -> SAP Installations and Upgrades -> Entry by Application Group -> SAP Application Components -> SAP Global Trade services (GTS) -> SAP GTS <Release> -> Installation and Upgrade.
Note that access to the SAP GTS product documentation is subject to a software license audit. You can only follow the listed navigation steps in the path specified above if you have a current license for SAP GTS. If you do not have a product license for SAP GTS Version >3.0, the entry 'SAP Global Trade Services (GTS)' is missing from the link list under SAP Application Components, which prevents you from navigating further if you lack the appropriate authorization. If you have a valid SAP GTS product license, you can access the contents for the release for which you have the license.</i>
    Best regards,
    Martin

  • Client Management for an Active Small Business

    HI Everyone,
I was looking to get advice on setting up our clients for our small business. We have a mixed environment but now are focused on the macs. We have mobile users and desktops and need to find some harmony...
Some issues, questions, I've run into:
    - Do you setup laptops like desktops - requiring the user to log in and using homesync to backup all of their files? Do you suggest another setup with basic (time machine) backup?
    - How can I allow users to install programs on their machines with access? Often times the machine admin's permission is needed to install Skype, Oovoo, or other programs our sales people use to conference call and they need me to enter them in. Is there a way to allow them to install, or have access, to do this?
    Thanks,

Sort of. The mobile devices typically get portable home directory settings. (So that they work when the server is inaccessible.)
Do you suggest another setup with basic (time machine) backup?
The clients get set up with a backup device at whatever fixed location where they're most commonly used.

Folks can typically be configured to allow them to [run stuff out of their own directories|http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/MacOSX/Concep tual/BPFileSystem/Articles/WhereToPutFiles.html%23//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40001411 -BAJHCHJI]; there can be a [~/Application directory|http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/MacOSX/Conceptu al/BPFileSystem/Articles/Domains.html] established for each user.
It's possible to set folks up as local administrators, though I tend not to.

  • Call Accounting Software for CUCM

    Hey,
Hey my company formerly used RSI Accounting solution with our CUCM Version 9 system, but we are looking to explore alternative third party solutions. The new call accounting software should be:
1)A Cisco Certified Developer Partner or Preferred Solution
    2) Compatible with all versions of CUCM( 7x-10x)
    3) Has ability to generate rich informative summary call cost reports
    4) We have multiple phone carriers and we need the software to be able to customize the call tariff rates to mirror as close as possible our local tariffs to be able to have accurate call costing
    5) The software provider must have good technical support in case of problems during installation or normal operation.
    6) send email alerts if any user is abusing company phone calls and be able to identify toll fraud events or prank calling
Can anyone suggest any Cisco Partner party who satisfies the above criteria. I would appreciate any feedback.Thanks.

  • Need accounting software for Mac!

Currently we use MYOB, an app no one provides support for anymore. We were thinking of switching to Quickbooks (I've tried it and don't like it, but we're limited in options!) but we've just received a letter indicating that Intuit is no longer selling this app and will be discontinuing product support after July 31, 2006.
Are there any other Mac compatible accounting apps out there? We really don't want to purchase a Window's machine simply to do our bookkeeping!
    eMac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Thanks all, this is handy information.
One reason that neither MYOB or Quickbooks will work for us is that the Canadian divisions are no longer being supported. Yes, the US companies are thriving, but things like tax rates and payroll don't work well when it's a country specific application.
I'll keep checking the product pages - there are some products there that may work for our company.

  • Accounting software for leopard

With the demise of MYOB is there now any alternative to buying a windows PC and running QuickBooks?

Stolzy - I find myself in the exact same situation. Long term MYOB / Checkout user left out in the cold. What I don't understand is why no one is localizing the US products - it can't be difficult to deal with sales tax and payroll as separate modules on a country by country basis. Everything else is sufficiently flexible to fulfill local accounting rules (especially in the UK as the rules aren't at all prescriptive).
I think there is a huge gap in the market (especially if you look at one of those graphs about Mac take up that Apple trot out at every opportunity).
Come on software developers... get in touch!

  • What might be my best approach for a very small business to install malware protection on Server 2012?

    Hello,
Windows Server 2012 w/ GUI as primary DC, Hyper-V VM's running on this server.  This my 1st stand alone server.
This is a rewrite of the original post to shorten and focus it:
It seems there is plenty of guidance that Defender/Security Essentials can be used on Server 2012.
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831778 (last line of chart)
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/clientsecurity/archive/2012/11/05/more-information-on-microsoft-antimalware-protection-on-windows-8-and-windows-server-2012.aspx
Question 1: Is Defender acceptable from a functional point of view and will it not adversely impact server operation?
The 2nd link above suggests management of security software is an issue.  I'm wondering if my question has been poorly formed because my installation is so simple I'm not seeing the bigger issues of server security.  Obviously security covers a
broad range of issues such as access, protection against accidents, and so on.  And while a server shouldn't be used in a way that exposes it to malware threats, we still have to place antimalware protection on every server, yes?
Question 2: Is the bigger issue with antimalware protection related to managing it across a larger number of servers?  If so, is Defender acceptable in this regard until my systems grows
    larger?
    Thanks.

    Hi Alan Wheeler,
There may have some misunderstand, In Windows 8, Windows Defender replaces Microsoft Security Essentials and System Center Endpoint Protection (SCEP) and Forefront Endpoint
Protection (FEP) will always disable WD during the SCEP/FEP installation process, as far as I know there don’t have the official document indicate the WD support the Windows Server 2012.
    More information:
    What is Windows Defender?

I’m glad to be of help to you!
