ACE and Client cert headers

Hi all,
We currently use a Cisco SCA for SSL off load. When adding client certificates to the SCA, there is an option to "Add Client Certificate Info" - which uses a check box to enable this feature. This feature, to the best of my knowledge, sends the headers to the server. We have configured a new service on an ACE context but need to enable this feature, is this possible and how do we enable the same feature on the ACE.
ACE version A2(2.3)
Thanks in advance for any assistant with this matter.

Hello,
it is possible on ACE too, at least in recent sw versions:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/interfaces_modules/services_modules/ace/vA2_3_0/configuration/ssl/guide/terminat.html#wp1169219
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/interfaces_modules/services_modules/ace/vA2_3_0/configuration/ssl/guide/terminat.html#wp1169832
as you can see here:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/interfaces_modules/services_modules/ace/vA2_3_x/Release/Note/RACEA2_3_X.html#wp586054
this was introduced in A2(3.0) so if you'll need to use the feature you'll have to upgrade.
Hope it helps,
Francesco

  • BASIC_PLAIN and CLIENT-CERT for SAML2 authentication

    Hi,
    I recently managed to set up kerberos on weblogic 10.3.5 using the negotiate provider so that I can log in to the console automatically with my windows authentication token.
    I also have saml2 IDP set up on the same weblogic server for logging in to Salesforce.
    I was hoping that I could configure weblogic to automatically log me in to Salesforce as well. The weblogic saml2.war file in WL_HOME/server/lib contains a web.xml file and I changed the login in this from BASIC_PLAIN to CLIENT-CERT. However when the call is made to /saml2/idp/login I get a 403 authorization denied message back. The debug seems to indicate that the browser did not return a SPGNEGO type token. If I revert back to BASIC_PLAIN I can log into Salesforce again, but only after entering my credentials in the basic auth window.
    I wondered if anyone might have any tips to solve this?
    Thanks,
    Ed.

    Regarding message level you can encrypt the message using certificates.
    For both of this basis team has to deploy the releavant certificates in XI ABAP Stack or Java stack.
    Generally if the scenarios are intra company we dont use any transport level or message level security since the network is already secured.

    HI All:
    I am trying to setup 2-way authentication in wls7.0. I have not been able to pin
    down all the requriments for using client-cert authentication with 2-way authentication.
    I have done the following:
    1. enabled client certificate enforced under SSL tab
    2. specified client-cert as login mechanism in web.xml
    3. specified a security constraint and "INTEGRAL" as the transport mode for the
    URL pattern /SnoopServlet.jsp
    4. installed CertGenCA.der and client2certs.der, cerificates
    for CA and client (generated using utils.CertGen) in the browser
    when I hit the jsp I get a page cannot be displayed.
    Any ideas what settings are wrong?
    TIA,
    -Sandeep

    Hi Sandeep,
    You did not mention the following necessary step.
    - Configure the Trusted CA File Name for the client cert
    If this step does not help, you can enable server-side
    debugging by setting the following property on the java
    command line when starting WebLogic.
    -Dssl.debug=true
    I hope this helps.

  • Defining an Authentication Scheme for user ID and password and client certi

    Hi,
                    I do need to define an Authentication Scheme for user ID/Password and client certificate,, both at the same time, so whenever the end user access the SAP Portal he/she will be asked to provide user and password as well digital certificate,
                    Despite of the whole idea behind o f the concept of digital certificate, my client sill wants to keep the user ID and password to complies with business requirements.
         I found a documentation that discuss Authentication Scheme with example using both ID and Digital certificate, but the priority was set different for each authentication method.

  • Client Certs for just one directory using IIS

    I am using JRun 4 and IIS 5 on one site and IIS 6 on another, and am using SSL and requiring client certificates. I have all that working through IIS's site properties but my issue is that I only want to accept client certificates on one directory, in fact I only want the request for the client cert to pop up on that one directory. By setting the JRun.dll to the proper security settings to accept client certificates in IIS, any jsp file will prompt for the cert.
    Do I not want to want to use IIS to set up my SSL and client cert request as opposed to doing it in the web.xml? All my research pointed me to do this through IIS. Using IIS, do I need to use another ISAPI Jrun connector? How do I do that?
    Can someone tell me a way to get this working for a client cert prompt only for the one directory either though IIS or application security?
    Thanks for any input you can provide.

    Hello Bill,
    I am sorry but I do not have an answer to your issue. It just
    happend that I am trying to set up SSL connection between JRUN 4
    and IIS 5 using JRUN ISAPI connector. Unfortunately every time I
    try to run the "*.jsp" test page I am getting "fetchprops" error
    message on JRUN ISAPI connector. Would you be able to give me some
    hints as to what could cause this issue. By the way, I am testing
    it only with trial version of SSL certificate on IIS.
    Thank you

  • Enabling CLIENT-CERT and FORM authentication in same web-app

    Hi!
    I try to enable same behaviour in WLS 8.1 SP4 as is available in WLS 9.2 (one can define in web.xml to have many <auth-method>s, for example <auth-method>CLIENT-CERT,FORM<auth-method>, which states that first one tries authentication with token (Single Sign On case, for example) and if it is not successful then go to log-in page.
    My steps are as follows in my custom Servlet. We are using IE 6.0 as our web-client. We have configured our auth-method to be FORM, and in the <form-login-page> we have direction to that custom Servlet, which does the handling described below.
    1. If client does not send tokens in request, then set response header:
    response.setHeader("WWW-Authenticate", "Negotiate");
    response.sendError(response.SC_UNAUTHORIZED);
    This works fine and client starts to send his tokens
    2. Now check token, if it is valid, let user in, if not forward him to custom log-in page, for example:
    RequestDispatcher dispatcher = request.getRequestDispatcher("/login/login.html");
    dispatcher.forward(request, response);
    3. Client is forwarded to a log-in page as requested and he gives his credentials. Pushes OK
    log-in page is as defined in edocs:
    <form method="POST" action="j_security_check">
         <table border=1>
              <tr>
                   <td>Username:</td>
                   <td><input type="text" name="j_username"></td>
              </tr>
              <tr>
                   <td>Password:</td>
                   <td><input type="password" name="j_password"></td>
              </tr>
              <tr>
                   <td colspan=2 align=right><input type=submit value="Submit"></td>
              </tr>
         </table>
    </form>
    Now the interesting thing happens (I have investigated TCP traffic at server machine): client (in this case IE) seems to override somehow the credentials (j_password and j_username for HTTP headers, does not send them at all) but keeps on sending this 'Authorize'-field with invalid token instead.
    I have tried a Servlet that does not request WWW-Authenticate at all (in which case client does not start to send 'Authorize'-field). In this case those values are put to HTTP header OK and authentication is able to take place.
    Anyone has any ideas how can I force my clients to send those values from the HTML FORM described above? SHould I set something at response while I do the forward to the custom log-in page. I have tried virtually everything I can imagine (which seems to be not too much :-))...

    Solution found:
    The trick is to return "401" in response if ticket is not valid (do nothing else). This will end the negotiate between client and server
    In your web.xml, forward your 401 code to login page:
    <error-page>
    <error-code>401</error-code>
    <location>/form_login_page.html</location>
    </error-page>
    There might be a more straightforward way to do this (have all the page management within servlet), but I did not have time to investigate it further. This one at least works

  • ACE SSL - Modifying certs and keys

    I'm having a problem updating the certs and keys I have in my ssl-proxy service.
    My cert is about to expire and I've purchased a new cert. I've uploaded the new cert and key, but I still see the old cert when I go to the VIP with my browser. I thought that by deleting the proxy-service and re-adding I could get the ACE to recognize that it's got new certs but that didn't seem to work.
    Is there a trick to make the ACE see the new certs? Does it cache the certs instead of reading them from flash? What's going on here.
    Thanks!

    I changed my certs hot while the application was still running worked like a charm.
    What i did was.
    - import the new certificate into the crypto store (pkcs12)
    - prepare a textfile with the necessary commands
    no key old
    key new
    no cert old
    cert new
    - paste the commands into the running config.
    I had several Customers and Application Admins test the App. while i was changing certs. They didn't even notice something happened. After approx. 60 seconds all new connections were using the new cert old connections were using the old cert. No trouble at all.
    And yes the ACE caches the certs if i am not mistaken.
    If you want to make sure that it works just create a test context or try it on a test farm first. That's what i did prior to changing the certs and the config on the production enviroment.
    Hope it helps.

  • Force client cert only for anyconnect and not for ssl-clientless?

    I need to configure different authentication for anyconnect clients and clients logging in using the ssl portal in the browser.
    I want both AAA and certificate for anyconnect but i want ONLY aaa for the ssl portal (clientless)
    I tried using two tunnel groups with different authentication settings but i need the same alias available for both clientless and anyconnect and when i tried that it said i cant have two with the same alias.

    Did you ever get an answer to this question?
    It seems you should be able to set up a two different client profiles.  Under Authentication, ssl-client would would specify "Both" and the sslclientless would specify AAA.  You would likely have to duplicate much of the other work but the requirement would be satisfied.

  • Is strong 2FA with client cert and AD using AnyConnect possible?

    Is it possible to configure AnyConnect to require a client cert that matches the AD username?  Which attribute should be used?  Common name (CN) or something else?  Can anyone point me to the appropriate documentation on setting up this configuration?
    Thanks in advance!

    Jaime,
    If you want binary comparison of the certificate I  believe it's only possible with EAP methods.
    That being said, you can extract multiple things from certificate to be used a authentication username.
    Have a look at this doc
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/security/anyconnect-secure-mobility-client/116111-11611-config-double-authen-00.html
    It shows a couple of different ways to do this on ASA.
    On IOS, I'd suggest looking at FlexVPN feature.

  • Web service call with v3 client cert in CF8

    I'm trying to call an external web service which requires a

    CF8, which I understand supports v3 certs. I've imported the

    You should not import the client certificate, but the server
    certificate:

    The certificate for the HTTP call should be on the filesystem
    in PKCS#12
    format. Then use the following code:

  • Web App Security Fallback (client-cert then form-based)

    Can you setup a web application to fall back to form-based login if the
    client-cert (i.e. identity assertion token) is not available. I think this
    would be very valuable because once you've configured the web app to use the
    "client-cert" authentication, you can't access the web app directly (i.e.
    browser->weblogic server). You will always need to go through the perimeter
    authenticator so the token gets sent.

    Solution found:

  • Client-cert auth impl in web.xml does not work in Oracle Application Server

    Hi,
    I am new to implementing security features on the web applications.. I have developed a new web service using jdev1012 and deployed in OAS 10.1.2. Its working fine according to the business requirements, but I am in need of implementing client-cert authentication to enable the web service available to only those who have client certificate.
    My server details are:
    Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2)
    Server certificate is in place and SSL mode have been already enabled.. able to access my web service through https://<mydomain.com>/myws/TreqWS as well able to see the WSDL file through https://<mydomain.com>/myws/TreqWS?WSDL.
    I tried to include the following in my web.xml file as part of implementing CLIENT-CERT authentication.
    <security-constraint>
    <display-name>SecurityConstraint</display-name>
    <web-resource-collection>
    <web-resource-name>WSCollection</web-resource-name>

    <transport-guarantee>CONFIDENTIAL</transport-guarantee>
    </user-data-constraint>
    </security-constraint>
    <login-config>
    <auth-method>CLIENT-CERT</auth-method>
    <realm-name>WSCollection</realm-name> <!-- am not sure about this realm-name and its purpose -->
    </login-config>
    It is not woking as expected, though I have restarted my oc4j container after including this content to the web.xml file. i.e, I am able to invoke the web service though my sample java client program, though I donot have client certificate/keystore.
    I believe I am missing something..Can anyone help me in this regard to implement CLIENT-CERT authentication successfully?
    Thanks,

  • Jax-RPC Client side: How to use multiple X509 client certs ?

    hi, (excuse me for my english)
    i'm looking for an answer to this question:
    I'm using the JAX-RPC libraries (JWSDP 2.0) for a web services client application in my app server (tomcat 4 under 1.4 Sun JVM) with HTTPS connection. All works fine when i'm using system.Setproperties for keystore and trustore.
    Buk now, I want to use different client SSL keys for the same app to consume the web service (one SSL client key for a group of users).
    Is it possible ?
    i've tried using custom SSLSocketFactory and custom KeyManager but it won't works: when the SSL connection is well established once, i can connect to the app with an invalide client cert ! (it seems SSL connection is in cache and i dont't know how to disable this cache).
    I have read some threads on this problem without answers ! (http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=331&threadID=333010 and http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=331&threadID=600372)

    I configure Kerberos services, so we have succefully access to our application through the Windows session.

  • Urgent!!! Cisco ACE and asymetric routing assistance needed

    I am wondering if someone can give me pointers on the cisco ACE
    and asymetric routes. I've attached the diagram:
    -Cisco IOS IP address is 192.168.15.4/24 and 4.1.1.4/24
    -Firewall External interface is 192.168.15.1/24,
    -Firewall Internal interface is 192.168.192.1/24,
    -F5_BigIP External interface is 192.168.192.4/24,
    -F5_BigIP Internal interface is 192.168.196.1/24 and 192.168.197.1/24,
    -host_y has IP addresses of 192.168.196.10/24 and 192.168.197.10/24,
    -Checkpoint has static route for 192.168.196.0/24 and 192.168.197.0/24
    pointing to the F5_BigIP,
    -host_y is dual-home to both VLAN_A and VLAN_B with the default
    gateway on host_y pointing to VLAN_A which is 192.168.196.1,
    -host_x CAN ssh/telnet/http/https to both of host_y IP addresses
    of 192.168.196.10 and 192.168.197.10.
    In other words, from host_x, when I try to connect to host_y
    via IP address of 192.168.197.10, the traffics will go through VLAN_B
    but the return traffics will go through VLAN_A. Everything
    is working perfectly for me so far.
    Now customer just replaces the F5_BigIP with Cisco ACE. Now,
    I could not get it to work with Asymetric route with Cisco ACE. In
    other words, from host_x, I can no longer ssh or telnet to host_y
    via IP address of 192.168.197.10.
    Anyone knows how to get asymetric route to work on Cisco ACE?
    Thanks in advance.

    That won't work because ACE uses the vlan id to distinguish between flows.
    So when the response comes back on a different vlan, ACE can't find the flow it belongs to and it drops it.
    Even if we could force it to accept the packet, ACE would then try to create a new flow for this packet and it will collide with the flow already existing on the frontend.
    You would need to force your host to respond on the same vlan the traffic came in.
    This could be done with client nat on ACE using different nat pool.
    Gilles.
