ACE20 Modules in VSS - power disabled on switch 2

This past weekend, we installed new ACE20 modules in switch 1 and switch 2 of a VSS pair. On switch 1, the power was enabled and there were no problems. In switch 2, however, when power enable command was issued, it was not allowed and the following syslog entries showed up:
Oct 11 12:37:24.407: SW1_SP: Switch 2 Physical Slot 4 - Module Type LINE_CARD
inserted
Oct 11 12:42:36.168: %ONLINE-SW2_SPSTBY-6-INITFAIL: Module 4: Failed to enable m
odule
Oct 11 12:42:36.168: %C6KPWR-SW2_SPSTBY-4-DISABLED: power to module in slot 4 se
t off (Module Failed SCP dnld)
The card was removed and reinserted, without any positive results. Also the cards were swapped from switch 1 to switch 2 and had same results.
Is there a VSS switch configuration that we are missing?

Sorted!
I'm not sure how this worked, but the Ipod is working fine on the port now. I changed to mouse from the hub to the PC, so I could click the notice when it came up, AND I put the Ipod on the charger until the Ipod said CHARGED.
I have plugged the Ipod back into the hub and it's been accepted, with no errors. AND I have access to my pics - thank goodness!

  • How can I disable auto-switching desktops?

I've long appreciated the spaces/mission control feature of OS X. However, it seems more oriented to organizing desktops by application rather than by project.
Like many users, I suspect, I use different desktops for different projects, each of which requires a variety of applications (finder, word docs, spreadsheets, etc). When I'm working on project 1 in desktop 1, I never want to be whisked away to desktop 2. In fact, I never want to be switched to a different desktop automatically. If I click on an application, I want it to open a new window for that application. If a new iteration of an app can't be opened (ie, Mail), I'd like it to pull Mail to me rather than send me off to it. Aren't apps supposed to come when we call, not the other way around?
I have unchecked "...switch to a space with open windows of that application" in System Prefences, but my desktop continues to auto-switch, especially with Finder.
In short: is there a way disable auto-switching entirely? I'd like to be able to assign windows and navigate manually without being constantly pulled away from the project I'm working on.
Thanks for the help; I really appreciate people spending their time helping others on forums like this one.

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode.  Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

I am using Photoshop CS5 on a new iMac with a wireless keyboard.  I used to be able to hit F11 to perform a custom sharpening action but now the F11 key is the volume control key and I have tried everything to disable or switch the volume key. I have also tried assigning other function keys to initiate the action. Is there a simple solution to this? What am I missing?

Try unmounting the volume on your iMac using Disk Utility. Then mount it again. You may need to reboot the laptop or relaunch its Finder process (using the Force Quit window) after remounting the drive on your iMac. Remember that no process may be accessing any files on the drive you plan to unmount, or the unmount will fail. Unmounting and remounting an external drive on my iMac made it become visible on my MacBook Pro after it had disappeared.

  • Internal error int reply to ClientHello on ACE20 module with end-to-end SSL

    Hello, world!
We have weird behaviour of our Cisco ACE20 module configured for end-to-end SSL (initiation+termination) - the module from time to time replies with SSLv3/TLSv1 alert "Fatal: internal error" message to the client right after client have sent 'ClientHello' SSL message. So sometimes SSL connection works and sometimes will be immediately closed due to this fatal error. The behaviour is very similar to the one described below:
CSCtc52085—After a client sends a ClientHello message, the SSL hand shake may fail with a fatal alert internal error sent by the ACE. This behavior is intermittent and may occur under the following conditions:
    1. An SSL service is configured with the session-cache timeout command (session reuse).
    2. SSL connections are aborted by the client after the client sends a ClientHello message to the service in condition 1 and before an internal resource state is changed. This behavior puts the internal resource in an improper state. This error is very timing sensitive.
    3. The next connection that uses the internal resource in the improper state fails with a fatal alert internal error. That connection does not have to go to the service in condition 1 to experience this error because the internal resource is shared by all the SSL services.
    Workaround: None.
But we have software version A2(3.1) and this bug must have been resolved in this release (at least it's listed in resolved caveats section of release notes).
    Software
      loader:    Version 12.2[123]
      system:    Version A2(3.1) [build 3.0(0)A2(3.1)]
      system image file: [LCP] disk0:c6ace-t1k9-mz.A2_3_1.bin
Again, we don't have session-cache timeout configured on the ACE.
On the ACE we have following stats:

The "Internal error" counter increases with failed connections.
    Printscreen from wireshark attached.
Maybe someone has the problem like ours? I have no idea how to troubleshoot these "internal errors"... :-(
    Thanks for your replies.

    Thanks for your reply.
The problem is not server-related, I have exactly the same situation if I do SSL termination only, with unencrypted connection between ACE and backend servers (another servers, with blank apache installed and listening on 443 port for non-SSL traffic) - generally speaking, it works, but often with these "internal errors" - not suitable for production.
Here is the output from the commands

  • Grey screen with message "turn off computer with power button until switch off then press again power button"

    Dear all,
I'm very hungry with my iMac and my Time Capsule :
I try for two weeks to restore my iMac without any success...
I wait 80 hours to finally have the message again and again : "to restart your computer : turn off computer with power button until switch off then press again power button".
But my iMac do not work !
    Could you help me?

    Hello, that's a kernel panic...
    http://thexlab.com/faqs/kernelpanics.html
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X 10.6 Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

  • ACE20 Module, webservices and regular expressions.

    Hello All,
I am trying to loadbalance requests for webservices in a serverfarm. But for some reason, ACE20 module y not making matches on the requests.
We have a serverfarm Prod1 with 2 real servers and another serverfarm named WSDL with other 2 real servers.
The idea is the following, if we receive the following string, /App.WebService, the ACE should redirect it to serverfarm Prod1, but if it receives /App.WebService?wsdl, it should be redirected to WSDL.
    Request with string /App.WebService --------------> ServerFarm Prod1
Request with string /App.WebService?wsdl -----> ServerFarm WSDL
We use regular expression in L7 class maps to make the loadbalance to happen.
    class-map type http loadbalance match-all APP.WEBSERVICES-L7-SLB
      2 match http url /App\.WebService\?wsdl
    class-map type http loadbalance match-all APP-L7-SLB
      2 match http url /App\.WebService
    policy-map type loadbalance first-match L7_SLB-POLICY
      class APP.WEBSERVICES-L7-SLB
        serverfarm WSDL
      class APP-L7-SLB
        serverfarm Prod1
      class L4_SLB_DATAPOWER(9050)
        loadbalance vip inservice
        loadbalance policy L7_SLB-POLICY
        loadbalance vip icmp-reply
        appl-parameter http advanced-options HTTP_PARAM
        ssl-proxy server wildcard.test.org
        connection advanced-options TCP_PARAM
But the ACE20 Module seems to be removing the ?wsdl from the URL and only the class-map called APP-L7-SLB is being matched.
Any comments or suggestions on why this could be happening?
    Thanks in advance,
    Fernando

    Hello Kanwal and all,
Finally, after reading and reading I found a fix to this problem. Seems that the HTTP protocol uses the question mark (?) character as a delimiter for data appended to the URL. So, if you get the following:
    www.test1.org/App.WebService?wsdl
If you configured a L7 class map to parse the URL, it will only parse until the question mark (?).
So you need to create a PARAMETER-MAP changing the URL delimiter start. Here is an example:
    parameter-map type http HTTP_PARAMETER_MAP_WSDL
      persistence-rebalance strict
      set secondary-cookie-delimiters ;!@?
      set secondary-cookie-start ;
    I used the semicolon ( ; ) as delimiter.
    Hope this helps.
    Fernando

  • Iphone5 faulty power on/off switch

I'm having trouble with my iphone 5 power on/off switch. The problem started about 10 months after purchase, but I thought it was a problem with the 3rd party case not the phone. Problem is now much worse, & after  buying new case, I discovered the problem is actually a faulty power switch on the phone.  Apple declines to fix the problem unless I pony up $295, because the phone is now 2 months out of warranty period. So much for ecouraging customer loyalty.
Looking on the internet, it seems this problem affects many other iphone 5's, & may be a design flaw. I'm trying to determine how prevalent this problem is, and if this is the same switch device that failed in-mass on the iphone 4, for which I am told there were more than 5 million failures. Do I have any other recourse at Apple, or do I just have to throw the phone away, and start buying phones from another vendor?
    Thanks!

Just read an article that they will be replacing switches if you have an affected home. Check phone serial through apple site.

  • Core (4500x vss) with Access HP switch spanning tree

    Hello Friends,
i need your support to guide me for this type of topology network in-order to avoid loops...
    like
2  4500X series switch configure as a VSS working as core switch
in access layer i have HP switches which are connected with 1G fiber uplinks to each other (cascaded) and back to these Core switch for Vlan forwarding.
i need help to configure  spanning tree  for such topology and avoid loops.
    Topology is in attached..

    Hi,
you mean to say, connect each HP switch back to core (VSS) with 2 uplinks and configure as a ether-channel?
    Yes, exactly.
actually that is  not possible because the lack of fiber cable between the cabinets (core to access) are not much cores.
How could it not be possible? According to your drawing in your current design ASW-HP1 and ASW-HP3 both connect to the core VSS, core anyway. So it is just a matter of connecting ASW-HP2 to the core.
Of course you want 2 uplinks from each HP.

  • [Request] cryogenic kernel module to reduce power consumption

    Hi there,
I found a very interesting kernel module to reduce power consumption. It is called cryogenic:
Cryogenic is a Linux kernel module that allows to reduce energy consumption by means of enabling cooperative clustering of I/O operations among the various applications that make use of the same hardware device. In order to achieve this target, Cryogenic provides an API that enables applications to schedule I/O operations on SCSI and network devices at times where the impact the operations have on energy consumption is small.
    https://gnunet.org/cryogenic
Is someone interested in packaging this for the AUR?
    Thanks!

What part of that document led you to think it would automagically reduce power consumption without application support?
I saw that document (and it is the same as your first post... 106 pages..meh), all points me to (still) think that applications have to explicitely support cryogenic to take advantage from it, is pretty clear:
    Page 28
In this section we present the way developers should use Cryoge nic’s API in order to
benefit from its capabilities . We illustrate with examples the code that must be added to modify the behaviour of any application and give a clearer idea of the execution flow .
Did you read that document, yes?

  • Why have many of my add-ons and extensions been disabled after switching to firefox 6

Many of my add-ons and extensions have been disabled after switching to Firefox 6.
    None of the Java extensions can be used;
    my Microsoft frame is disabled;
    my media player is gone;
and my google toolbar with all of my important bookmarks is missing.
How can Firefox 6 be considered an "upgrade"?
How can I '''retrieve Firefox 4 or 5'?''--there's no point in using a browser that limits so many necessary add-on sites!

    Hi, mhaoo7--
Tried your plugins updating suggestion; no go.
    Then tried updating to FF7.
This time the Yahoo! toolbar was no longer compatible with FF.
Scoured sites discussing problems with versions 6 & 7
and decided to retire to version 3.6.19.
Now both Google and Yahoo! toolbars are re-installed and
working....Only deficit may be that FF no longer supports or
soon will not support this version.
    I have stashed all of my necessary bookmarks on Google's toolbar;
    I like its drop-down menu as it doesn't change the page/window I'm
    in the process of using;
I don't want to see that menu listed separately in a new window (too chaotic).
Same for the Google dictionary and Thesaurus, which are straightforward
and easy to use, again requiring nothing more complicated than a drop-down menu
to search for words and concepts.
--I checked Firefox 6 and 7's Dictionary/Thesaurus options but unfortunately
    found none.
So if Firefox continues to upgrade with diminished returns, I'll likely have to go
    to Google Chrome.
    Would rather not do that.
Maybe I can keep FF 3.6.19 without incurring nasty repercussions.
    Hope so.
Have enjoyed being with Firefox for a few years.
    Thank you for your attention.

This event has nothing to do with the show commands you collected.  This event says that the CPU of module 8 of device IT-swi-in-pjtc-1 was at 100%.  It has nothing to do with any environmental problem.  I'm not sure what module 8 is exactly, but something is taking up all of its CPU time.  You should identify what that is, and see if the process or task is misbehaving.

How can I disable wi-fi switcher, which on the front of the laptop under the power, battery and hdd leds?
    If it possible :)
    Thanks.

Sorry buddy but I do not understand why you want to do this. I believe you are the first one who ask something like this. Can you please tell me why you want to do this?
If you do not want to use WLAN switch it OFF and be happy?

  • Analog signal change(module 9381) in labview when activating switch on relay module (NI9481) on seperate circuit

We are getting analog voltage changes in Labview on several different inputs (not found with multimeter). It happens when we activate the NI 9481 relay module with a 24V DC signal to power a solenoid. Don't understand why this is happens or why it shows on three different inputs in LabVIEW but not when testing the points with a meter.

That picture is of little help, since the devices will report what they measure, wether it is the voltage of interest or not
To find the root cause of that effect, you 'just' have to follow the current. However current and to note _fast changing current_  can go funny, not always so obvious ways.
That's why I asked for details of the setup, and every wire counts
(and ground is a con......   see sig)
And a as fast as possible sampled voltage channel while a switch is actvated (say 20ms) would help too.

  • Two wism module in vss mode

i have two switches 6509 connected by vss technology
i add two wism module ( one in each switch 6509 )
i need to know if  two wism are operate active - active in vss or active - standby ?

    Hi Mohammad,
Redundancy for the APs is achieved by configuring primary, secondary and tertiary controllers.
There is no redundancy between controllers in a way that one controller is in standby mode and keeps verifying whether another active controller is operational.
In your case, you could for example consider the following options:
    N + N redundancy:
150 APs with primary controller A and secondary controller D for example.
150 APs with primary controller C and secondary controller B for example.
This will allow an easier redundancy configuration.
    (pseudo) N + 1 redundancy:
100 APs with primary controller A; 50 of them with secondary controller C and other 50 with secondary controller D.
100 APs with primary controller B and secondary controller D.
100 APs with primary controller C; 50 of them with secondary controller A and other 50 with secondary controller B.
This is a bit trickier, but it would allow less load per controller and still a fairly robust redundancy in case one of the two Cat6k's goes down.
