ACER S7 191 11.6 NOTEBOOK UPDATE WITH BETTER BATTERY 8GB RAM 512GB SSD QHD DISPLAY TOUCH SCREEN.

I have owned an Acer aspire S7 191 "11.6" for few weeks and it is a wonderful invention by Acer engineers. i am really puzzled as to why you have discontinued this model.I think it needs few adjustments and you need to release it with these refinements. if you look at dell XPS 13 with infinity display and QHD resolution you can see that they have achieved simillar form factor but with much better specs.Acer S7 191 needs the following improvements.latest CPU i7 with turbo boostat least 512gb SSD if not 1TB ssd model rate zerothinner bezels with more screen size possibly 13" with WQHD displayled indicator for caps on button.most importantly much larger battery capacity 9hrs-12hrsbetter key travel for key board.love the bluish/green light on the keyboard but it needs to be brighter.the bezels of the edges needs to be champered to give it a smoother better feel instead of sharp corners.keep the branding on as it is with aluminum bodyimproving the touch pad slightly for better responsiveness to gestures.if you guys can acieve this you will have a killer notebook on your hands. i know you guys are not scared of trying new ideas but you have developed a brilliant notebook. the only notebook that can compete with apple 11.6 macbookair. lenovo have tried it with their spectre 360 but failed, it just doesnt have that specialness about it. where as the Acer S7 191 is a wonderful notebook and deserves to be refresshed with much better specs.everyone who sees my notebook wants to buy one. the only let downs are that its not up to date with current CPU and memeory and most importantly battery life.so please acer listen to your customers and get a refresh out for the 11.6 inch Acer S7 please.kind regardsAsifLondon, UK

Thanks for writing, Osteo.  So you have the S7-191 notebook, which is our very first iteration of the S7 series.  We have released several newer models of S7 since then that are better, faster, etc.  Check out our website and see how close we came to what you want.    Thanks!

  • Problems deploying Windows 7 x64 computers with more than 8GB RAM

    SCCM 2012 R2 CU1
    Windows 7 x64
We have a weird problem after upgrading from SP1 to R2 CU1. We have built a Windows 7 64 bit image with the latest updates (currently September 2014 updates). It deploys fine to all computers. But after some days – don’t know exactly – guess after 4-7 days
    - we start getting errors on computers with more than 8 GB of RAM. The errors just start out of the blue. We didn't change TS, image or driver package.
The error shows in 3 different ways – depending of the computer model.
    1) BSOD – STOP 0x000000F4. Disk error.
    2) Task Sequence error 0x87D00269 when installing the first Application in TS. The error seems to have something to do with Management Point not found.
    3) Task Sequence simply stops after installing CMclient. No errors - it simply stops.
For instance we get the BSOD on the Lenovo ThinkCentre M93p. But on the ThinkCentre M83 we get the TS error 0x87D00269. M93p and M83 uses the same driver package. They consequently  fail every time after the error has begun. If we reduce (remove physically)
the memory to max. 8GB of RAM, they successfully run the Task Sequence.  We get the above errors on both Lenovo and HP machines with more than 8GB.
I made a copy of the production TS and started testing. I created a new driver package for M93p/M83. It contains only the NIC drivers. Now M93p an M83 successfully finishes the TS. Adding sata or chipset or MEI/SOL drivers to the package I get the 0x87D00269
error on both m93p and M83. At least not the BSOD on the M93p ;-)
Tried setting  SMSTSMPListRequestTimeout to 180 in the TS. Also tried putting in a 5 minute break before installing the first Application in the TS. Also tried putting in SMSMP=mp1.mydomain in the installation properties for the CMclient. It is still
    the same problem.

    you have not previously used.
Hopefully this is a bug in translating the errorcodes? Just to be sure I checked all the SCCM serviceaccounts and none of them have expired passwords.  And again why only on computers with more than 8GB RAM.
Anyone else had problems rolling computers with more than 8GB og RAM?
Why does this happens after a few days? To begin with, it runs just perfect and then starts failing on all machines with more than 8GB. Without a change in TS, image and driverpackage. We have seen this pattern for the last 3 month after
updating our image with the latest Windows Updates. It all started after updating from SP1 to R2 CU1.
Why does it only affect machines with more than 8GB RAM?
How to get rid of the 0x87D00269 error?
Seems to be somehow related to driver installation mechanism in SCCM in combination with Windows 7 64 bit, +8GB RAM and SCCM 2012 R2 CU1 or perhaps just R2.
Any help or hints would be appreciated!
    Thanks
    Anders

We have the same workaround, using a x64 boot image resolved all our issues with WinPE 5.0.

No updates from Microsoft, they are still looking through the logs, but we have updated our boot images and all is well now. Our case it still open with Microsoft, they are researching the logs.

I have a 2009 Macbook Pro with 1T hdd 8GB Ram and ran Maverick without problem...Yosemite installation has me completely frozen, nothing works but the spinning ball...I had to force shutdown last night, and haven't turned it on again...what do you advise?  During installation emptied cache, etc. Backed up using time machine, fortunately.

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
    5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible

  • Anybody using M83 with Win 8/8.1 and a non-Lenovo touch screen monitor?

    Colleagues,
My first post, thinking of buying a couple of custom ThinkCentre M83 and wanted to make sure they work well with Windows 8/8.1 and a non-Lenovo touch screen monitor.
    Thanks in advance.

That is a very good question.  The reason I am asking this is because Lenovo also said that the AIO C325 were touch screen and I bought 3 of them for a small business I have.  None of the 3 screens work as touch screens and, of course, they are already out of warranty.
In this case, I plan to purchase 2 M83's which will not be particularly cheap once I add all the components I need and I will not be very happy with Lenovo if a third party touch screen didn't work.
So, I am looking for forum users who have M83's with third party touch screens to make sure I won't get into trouble again.
    Regards.

  • Will Logic Pro X run on the latest MBA with i5 and 8GB RAM?

    Hi,
want to buy the new Logic Pro X but I´m not sure if it will rum smoothly on my MBA 2013 with i5 and 8GB Ram.
I saw some very promising posts on the i-net regarding Logic Pro 9 which seems to run nice. But does the latest version of Logic require more hardware power?
Can anybody share any experience on this?
    thanks!

Logic Pro X has got some system requirements, and your MacBook meets all of these requirements > https://www.apple.com/logic-pro/specs/
Have a look at the Logic forum and read experiences. Also, there are reviews over the Internet, but if Logic Pro 9 works properly in that MacBook, Logic Pro X will also run properly

  • Pavilion g6 updated to windows 8.1 now tv won't display the screen

I cracked the screen of my HP Pavilion g6, so I usually connect it through HDMI to my Coby TV and it usually worked fine. Now, after updating to Windows 8.1, my TV won't display anything. I believe it is because the screen is black, and my TV never displayed a black screen before, it only showed the screen once the laptop has started up. I've tried pressing f4 and i can see that the screen is blue in the small area of my screen that still works, but it still isn't showing through my TV so I don't know how I can fix this problem because I cannot see the screen. Please help!

  • Is there anyone with *better* battery performance on the 3GS?

OK, there are a lot of posts complaining about the 3GS battery life. I'm now curious to find out if there's a bad batch of batteries, or if it's a software issue involving all iPhone 3GS.
My question: is there anyone out there who's getting better battery performance on the 3GS when compared to the 3G, as advertised by Apple?
I understand that there are at least 3 kinds of battery issues showing up in this forum:
    1. abysmal battery life caused by Exchange Push acting up
    2. defective battery
    3. "it seems a little worse than the 3G, something must be wrong"
There's nothing that can be done for categories 1 and 2, and I think it's interesting to talk about case 3.
Could it be that the 3GS battery indicator is simply more linear (and better calibrated) than the one on the 3G? I am one of those people experiencing subjectively worse battery life on my 3GS when compared to the 3G. But then I stopped and asked myself how I actually measure this.
Well, the difference is that the 3G stays at 100% much longer, then starts to go down very quickly. The 3GS, on the other hand, doesn't like staying at 100% and starts going down earlier but slower. But if I let them both drain, the performance at the end of the day will probably seem similar.
I tried to drain my 3GS with some heavy Safari surfing over WiFi and 3G, 30 minutes of 3G calls, using some third party apps, and with a 1-hour Peggle play. Then I finally played some videos, and it went dead after 5 hours of usage and 15 hours of stand by.
Is that the performance that can be expected, or can we hope for more? I never did the same test on the 3G, because I never noticed the battery meter going down like that, but I'm pretty sure it would turn out quite similar.
    What do you think?

Battery performance depends on what you have running on your iPhone.
e.g. If you have Brightness set to high (or full) with Auto Dimming Disabled, Locations Services, Push Notification (set Fetch to Manually), Bluetooth, Wi-Fi (ask to join networks enabled too) and 3G all enabled your battery will get used a lot quicker, especially if you use Third Party Apps on top of all these other things.
If however you activate Wi-Fi when you want to use it, or Bluetooth etc as your needs require, battery performance will be better (as in your battery will last longer before requiring a charge). If you are on a low 3G coverage area, why have your iPhone constantly trying to join a 3G network? Switch 3G off and use the conventional carrier (2G) until you return to an area where you know 3G coverage is better.
I know these measures are less convenient than just having everything switched on, but if you want to maximise battery use between charges try activating the features you require when you require them, then disable them when you don't require them instead of having everything switched on permanently.
I have noticed when Push is enabled (3G has to be enabled also), it absolutely canes the battery

  • How to properly install updates with kernel changes on MBP w/ SSD

I downloaded and installed Yosemite security update 2015 003, and on reboot it would have a progress bar of the updating which would not complete and would show the prohibited sign (circle with a line through it).
    I tried the following:
I held the power button to shut it down and perform a hard restart, the problem would not go away.
Tried clearing the PRAM, but since it was in the middle of the update reboot, it was busy and would not properly clear the PRAM. No chimes.
I tried holding option to select the boot drive manually, but that did not work either.  I could not even get to the boot drive selection screen. Just the continued seeing prohibited sign.
I was able to plug in my external hard drive and boot from that after multiple tries to use Disk Utility to restore my backup partition onto the internal SSD. Luckily, I frequently backup, so I didn't lose any data by being forced to wipe my SSD and restore my backup.
This is on a 13" MBP 7,1 (Mid 2010) with an aftermarket Intel SSD and 8GB of aftermarket RAM. Had TRIM enabler installed and on when downloading and installing the update. Is that the cause? After researching this and coming up with no solution, I discovered this security update seems to change the kernel. Is this kernel change conflicting with TRIM enabler? What causes this hanging problem when attempting to update? I have done multiple "Computer must restart to install changes" updates on this SSD in the past without this problem happening.

I don't know enough to explain it. I've read that you need to disable TRIM before upgrading to Yosemite. And disable it before doing updates. Updating may not always cause problems, but you never know till it happens. Enabling TRIM disables Apple's security measures built in and this may be why a Security Update affected it.
Here is one article on TRIM with Yosemite:

  • Early 2013 Macbook Pro Retina 2.7 i7 512GB SSD and 16gb Ram with Serious Cuda Problems! Trying to teach Apple their Macbook Pro Retina isn't a Pro Jan. 11. 2015.

Apple replaced the logic board, wiped the computer, did a fresh instal of the OS, and also a fresh instal of all the programs during the beginning of 2015. The GeekBench scores are the highest of any of the similar computers (at least on the day of my testing). But here's what's happening. The Macbook Pro Retina has a GeForce GT 650m with Cuda Technology and it can't handle editing in Premiere Pro with Cuda Acceleration turned on. Open CL, a second form of graphic acceleration on the Macbook Pro, appears to be functioning properly.
At the Apple Store on 1-10-2015, I was told that since the logic board and the graphic cards have been replaced that there is nothing they can do and they recommend contacting Corporate. This comes after they told me to buy a new logic board and that that would solve the problem. This comes after Apple did not listen, for over a month, about the possibility that they didn't properly build a professional notebook computer.
The computer displays a black program monitor screen, at random times, when the user edits footage with Cuda Acceleration enabled. It used to lead to an entire system crash and/or a Premiere Pro crash before the operating system was completely re-installed. My solution, since I bought the computer, was to edit in Open CL... However, I've come to learn that there is a major difference in performance between Open CL and Cuda Acceleration.
For the Macbook Pro Retina, Adobe Media Encoder render times are about 20% faster with Cuda Acceleration than Open CL. The 2013 Macbook Pro Retina appears to be able to handle Cuda Acceleration in Media Encoder, but I have had a number of issues leading to program crashes on every project before the new logic board and operating system were installed. For over a year and a half, I actually never used Cuda Acceleration. Having sent every crash report and user data to Apple over that time, I truly expected an update of some sorts and it never came.
FYI: The latest Macbook Pro Retina uses the GeForce GT 750m... This is essentially the same graphic card that performs about 10 - 20% faster due to a new "boost mode." More importantly, it actually has the exact same number of Cuda cores. Having the same number of Cuda Cores means that the Cuda Acceleration is essentially the same when exporting or viewing video. To prove a point to Apple that their 2013 Macbook Pro Retina isn't functioning properly, I bought the latest computer with the 2.5 i7, 16gb Ram, 512gb SSD and I can honestly say that the 2014 model works perfectly fine with Cuda Acceleration turned on while editing in Premiere. I can also say that a proper render test proved the 2013 and 2014 model to be the exact same.
I'm new to this whole pay $2700 for a computer that your manufacturer didn't / can't test properly, so I will be contacting Apple and speaking with Senior Advisors, their Customer Support division, and will soon speak with their Corporate branch. I'm confident that the Early 2013 Macbook Pro Retina with a 2.7 i7 16gb Ram and a 512 SSD is nearly the same at rendering video and editing video, provided the Cuda Acceleration works, as their latest 2014 Macbook Pro Retina with the 2.5 i7 processor 16gb Ram, and a 512 SSD. It's truly a great computer and a great build, minus their current inability to properly test / diagnose their computer.
Knowing that the latest graphic card in the Macbook Pro lineup is essentially the same model, I feel that Apple is not directly looking into the viability and life span of their current Macbook Pro Retina product line. They can't test for performance issues relating to their graphic cards, so why consider buying from them when the end user is actually in a position to experience up to a 20% decrease in certain professional programs.
For future reference, I'd strongly urge other individuals to avoid purchasing Apple products if they offer Cuda Technology. In my opinion, Apple is an Open CL organization, at best, who is not responsibly manufacturing / producing computers that fit their organization's strengths. For a fact, they can't test their Cuda Technology and won't even attempt to address Cuda Acceleration errors for Apple owners (01-11-2015). I say this having walked out of the Apple Store on 1-10-2015 with virtually no support other than to contact Corporate.

    Looks like a RAM issue.

Ah, here we go. The alert can be safely ignored. Your drive is fine:
    Symptoms
When you test your Mac notebook using an SSD or Flash storage drive with Apple Hardware Test (AHT) diagnostics, you may encounter the following message if the test is looped multiple times:
    4HDD/11/40000000:SATA
    Resolution
The alert is erroneous and generally takes multiple loops of Apple Hardware Test to induce.
Before starting Apple Hardware Test, looping can be enabled or disabled by pressing the L key on the keyboard. If the message appears and there are also other issues with the computer that appear to be related to the solid state drive (SSD) or Flash storage drive, schedule an appointment at an Apple Retail Store or contact an Apple Service Provider.
