Acrobat Multitasking?

Hello,
I have Adobe Acrobat 6.0 professional. I am a tile contracter, and I use Adobe Acobat 6.0 Pro for estimating. I download .PDF files to run. But my only problem is I don't know how to run Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Pro twice, so I can have two different .PDF files on two different screens. I already have dual monitors setup. I just need to konw how I can have one file on one screen, and one file on the other.
Thank You.

Try setting up a shortcut to Acrobat and include the /n command line switch. Then use the shortcut for each new instance of Acrobat you want.

  • Having trouble merging powerpoint or word files in single PDF in acrobat X professional on mac book pro

    Hi
I am having trouble merging word and poerpoint files into single PDF by acrobat X professional on a mac book pro. Error says its not supported format. Why is that? It works perfectly on windows. Is the feature of merging office files not enabled in Mac version of software?

    Hi Adam,
Welcome to the forums. They've really helped my Mac learning-curve since first getting a Mac in late April.
It sounds to me from reading the different ways you want to use your computer that you would be very well suited for the Macbook. I have the Macbook Pro but I got it about 3 weeks before the Macbooks came out. And I was quite upset. I use my computer mainly for word editing, watching DVDs and picture management. I will have to admit the 15.4" screen is great for side-by-side document editing, but aside from that, I would think that for my needs the Macbook would have been perfect.
For the money I spent on the low end Macbook Pro I could have gotten the fastest Macbook with 2GB RAM. Instead I have the slowest MBP with only 512MB of RAM which was painfully slow when multitasking. I upgraded to 1GB and it was a huge difference.
But really... I never use the video card. And since I love the portability of the Macbook Pro, another 2 inches off the body would be AMAZING since the 15" is a little big...
    That's my 2 cents.

  • Adobe Acrobat Doesn't always open

    Hello,
Recently after installing a new nVidao Quadro K2200 video card and driver, when I double-click on a pdf file the file may or may not open.  Seems like if I'm opening 3 pdf files the first may take 2 or 3 double-clicks and the second and third pdf file may take two or often just one.
But, I just tried the above test and it didn't hold true.
Also testing opening largest pdf first (10 megs) and then smaller keeping first open - no pattern is number of double-clicks to open a document.
Computer is running Windows 7 Professional Enterprise edition 64-bit and has plenty of RAM and processor.
PDF files are in Dropbox.  Moved them to Desktop, no change.
    Trying 4 other PDF files:
    No change.
    Try opening from other PC:
Works perfectly.  Every double-click opens the pdf file first time.
    I uninstalled Acrobat and re-installed:
    No change.
    Contacted nVidia Support:
They advised to contact Adobe.  Thought it was a file association issue.
I think the video card is confused where to open the pdf file.
I'm running Dual Asus 27 inch monitors in portrait mode and using nVidia Grids setup from within the nView Desktop Manager.
Oh, I see something.  None of the open pdf files have the nVidia grid toolbar which allow the user to send the pdf window to a specific grid.
I bet the system delay in opening a pdf is because it's not able to overlay the nvideo grid taskbar thing on top of pdf files.
I'm heading back to nVidia support....

    Hello Rahul,
The .pdf files were opening prior to installing the video card.
nVidia online chat support advised I disable the nView Display Manager program which upon disabling the .pdf file opening problem disappeared.  however, after re-enabling the same program, the .pdf opening problem resumed.
nVidia support requested I use a utility to generate a video system file, which I did, and sent them the video system file for analysis.  nVidia sent me an email describing our online chat and as of yet I have not received a response and continue to have operate with the nView Display Manager disabled.
I think I should mention that the only reason I purchased the nVideo Quadro K2200 card was for the nView Display Manager program which contains a feature called Grid which allows the user to configure the system to divide up multiple large monitors into separate grids which can contain separate application windows snapping into place making for better workflow very helpful while multitasking.
    Kind regards,
    Sasha

  • Filename in XFDF - Acrobat 9?

While submitting the PDF form field data, do we have to manually add the 'f href' element in the XFDF when running on Acrobat 9? Or, is it the acrobat javascript method 'submitForm' which generates the XFDF with field names and 'f href' ?
Please let me know asap. In my project, its observed that 'f href' element (i.e. filename) is missing in the XFDF retrieved in Acrobat 9.
    Thanks.

Just revisiting on this topic and hoping for some assistance.
We are currently generating .xfdf xml form files and they are using <f href=filename.pdf>
This works fine when superimposing the data in the form onto PDF's using Adobe Reader 8 and lower but with version 9, when the client opens the .xfdf file the .pdf file for the form does not load for the aforementioned reason in the previous posts and therefore the user cannot view the document with the XML data superimposed on the PDF.
I would prefer not to have to roll users back to Adobe Reader version 8 to make these forms work so I was wondering, can the code eg. <f href=filename.pdf> be changed to be compatible with Adobe Reader 9 as well as backwards compatible with versions 8 and lower and so forth. If this can be done, how does the link need to be coded?
    Thanks in advance

  • Deploying only Acrobat XI Pro CC package w/ Enterprise Serial # - Still getting "Sign In Required"

Downloaded Creative Cloud Packager to create a serialized package of only Acrobat XI Pro.  I further customize the deployment via Adobe Customization Wizard XI, but did not re-enter the serial number (as suggested).  I am able to deploy from the Exceptions folder with the following cmd, msiexec /i "%inst%AcroPro.msi" PATCH="%inst%Updates\AcrobatUpd11006.msp" TRANSFORMS="%inst%Transforms\en_US.mst" /qn.  Upon launching Acrobat, I receive the a pop-up message, "Sign In Required.  Siging in with an Adobe ID and registering Creative Cloud Membership Enterprise is required within 32767 days otherwise it will stop working."  I don't understand why the serial number and Adobe ID I enterred when packaging did not carry over.  Any insight would be appreciated.

  • How do you deploy adobe acrobat xi from creative cloud for enterprise?

    Hello,
We purchased Creative Cloud Enterprise and our new supervisor wants adobe acrobat on all computers.  I downloaded the package through Creative Cloud and used the customization wizard to customize the msi in the exceptions folder just like the instructions said.  I followed the steps and deployed it out using Dell Kace.  When a user tries to open Acrobat, it tells them they have a trial version and they must register the product.  The instructions for the customization wizard said not to put the creative cloud serial number into the customization tool.  Is there something I'm missing with deploying adobe acrobat and creative cloud?
    Thanks,
    Michael

I'm not a CC expert, but I think normally admins configure Acrobat and then deploy everything via the Creative Cloud Packager. Acrobat certainly needs to be licensed, so when you only have a CC license, it's best to deploy in a standard way so that Acrobat get serialized with the license you have.

  • Acrobat XI very sluggish on Yoga 3 Pro

I have noticed that Adobe Acrobat XI is very sluggish on the Yoga 3 Pro. Specifically laggy when zooming in and out, panning, scrolling, and full screen. This is especially apparent with full screen and quite annoying in tablet mode. However, using the Microsoft Reader app with the same PDF files does NOT experience this lag.
What I then discovered is that this has something to do with the Core M processor and it getting its power limited. If you change the power plan in OneKey Optimizer to High Performance (from Balanced, for example), Acrobat all of a sudden becomes quite snappy.
When in tablet mode, if you simply want to read a PDF file (and use Acrobat), you do not need "high performance", so to extend the unfortunately bad battery life of the Yoga 3 Pro, you would want to put it in Balanced or Power Saver -- this should still be sufficient to read PDF files, but it is not the case with Acrobat XI unfortunately.
I'm not sure which specific CPU limiting feature of the power plan is causing this issue in Acrobat, but I thought I would post this because I couldn't find anything on the internet on this issue.

  • I am trying to create a form in acrobat pro 8 and it can't be filled in in reader 9

When I open the form in reader, it says it is a pdf/a file.and the form fields do not show up unless I go to edit/preferences in reader and tell it to never view documents in pfd/a mode.  I am putting this document on my website for users to fill out, and don't want them to have to do that.  How do I create the form that is not a pdf/a document?  I have been messing around with this for a day and have not been successfull.  I have an old document from last year that apparently is not a pdf/a document and it works fine.  I cannot make this year's document open correctly in reader 9.  http://www.houseofsweden.us/docs/DecNightsSignUps2009.pdf  This is a very simple form created from a word document.

When originally creating the pdf, you would need to choose another pdf conversion setting. In Word if you use the pdf menu, change your settings there: Adobe PDF > Change Conversion Settings. I would use High Quality Print instead. If you use the File > Print method, click the Properties button next to the Adobe PDF printer selection.
For your already created form, you can change the file so your users will not encounter issues. In Acrobat 9, which hopefully is similar in process to 8: Advanced > Preflight > Profile tab > PDF/A compliance > Remove PDF/A information.(You'll have to unsecure your form first).
You can read about PDF/A files in the Help.

  • Preserving PDF links and actions created in Acrobat after editing in Illustrator

I created an interactive PDF in Acrobat from an Illustrator file saved as a PDF.  It's basically an interactive prototype that simulates dropdown menus, highlighted selections and navigation between screens.  Using the Link Tool, I set layers to appear through the layer visibility action, and certain layers to toggle through javascript.  Since the prototype is evolving, however, I have to periodically make minor edits to it in Illustrator.  Once I make an edit and save the PDF again, when I open up the saved document in Acrobat, all the link tool actions are gone.  This is highly frustrating because most of the edits take just a minute or two in Illustrator, but I have to re-create all the links in Acrobat when I'm done, which takes a very long time.  How can I make minor edits in Illustrator while preserving the action elements I created in Acrobat?

Well, that's a bummer.  It's so close to a feasible workflow for generating quick early-stage prototypes that you can continue to work on.
    Thanks for the info.

  • Adding javascript to page open and page close in acrobat 8.1.2

Reading the Acrobat Javascript Object Specification on page 22 it says that you can add javascript to the "page open" and "page close" events of a document.
It then says that under the menu "Document -> Set page action" you can add scripts for those events
I am using Acrobat 8.1.2 and under the document menu there is no "Set page action". And there is nowhere where I can find any "set page action" menu...
    whats the deal?
How can i set the page open and page close events in acrobat professional 8.1.2?????????????
    Marc

    - open the Navigation Panel 'Pages'
    - select the page and open the page properties
    - in the actions tab you can set the page actions

  • How do I transfer an Acrobat serial number from one adobe account to another?

I've installed Adobe DC Pro on one of our user's computers. When it asked for an Adobe ID I entered the ID I used to purchase the serial number. Unfortunately now acrobat always starts on the new computer and displays my name instead of the end user name. So I'm wondering how to either transfer the serial number to the end user's adobe account, or alternatively re-associate the acrobat on the end user machine with the end user's own adobe account.

  • Form creation - what version of Acrobat do I need to achieve ONLY the following:

I want to make customizable card templates which can be downloaded and allow my clinetelle to input text in a specific region, and then modify the font, color, and size. I would also like for them to be able to insert photos. I worked for Staples and then office depot, and both were somehow in possession of these tools which would allow clints to make use of quick, easy christmas card templates as well as calendars. I need this to be something that can be downloaded and then customized at home, and while I know that what I really want to do can be done in Word, it takes a substantial amount of effort to make a walkthrough for that, and I simply do not have the patience to fight with the program. Please recommend me the most basic necessary software to perform these functions, as the cards will be free to download, and as such I would prefer to not spend a fortune just for a very small task which I will perform perhaps monthly. uch appreciated.
Also, any tips, or advice would be much appreciated.
    Thank you for your time.

Any version of Acrobat will do for the fields.
However, the photos are going to be a problem. It will only be possible to achieve in Reader if the users have the photos in PDF format, AND if they have the latest version of Reader (XI).

  • More than one VI at a time (i.e. multitasking)

    Hello.
I currently work in a lab where we use LabVIEW to control an multifunction instrument. We use the sofware both for data acquisition (through Ni-DAQ) and for physical control of things like stages, and frequency generators (e.g. through GPIB). There are a few programs that do very simple things (like move a stage with a joystick, or turn a laser on and off) that I would like to run continuously in the background while I run other more specialized software (like a data acquisiton routine). However, when I run more than one VI at the same time I run into very bad timing problems. Some of my programs require this kind of multitasking and I have implemented it using a sort of Master loop (similiar to the Master/S
lave paradigm discussed on the NI website).
If I were to purchase the compiler and build executables out of some of the VIs, would I be able to run these in the background while LabVIEW runs other VIs without running into timing issues?
Also, if I build executables from some of the VIs would these VIs be able to access global variables that LabVIEW is using (I assume the answer is no, but I figured I'd ask).
    Thanks,
    Josh

First, do you know where your timing problems are coming from? Are some of those background tasks very processor intensive, or is the problem that you're sharing subVIs that aren't reentrant (and hence may be "blocking" each other)? Have you tried multithreading the application yet (running the motion control in one thread and the laser control in another, for instance)?
Splitting your tasks between multiple executables might help, but it will almost certainly increase the overhead of each background task, and you will not have common access to global variables. You could, however, work around that by instituting a common data repository as one of your background tasks (presumably accessed through a messaging interface).
In fact, I would probably suggest
this as a method of performance optimizing your application anyway -- if you are using globals extensively for parallel operation, they might be part of the blocking problem.
