Acrobat Pro XI - How to check 32bit of x64 ?

The about box only shows Adobe Acrobat XI v.11.0.06
Out of curiosity: how to see if it is a 32bit or x64 version?
Thanks

That's easy: Acrobat is 32-bit.

  • Acrobat pro properties how to usefull screen mode and keep page display at 100%

I am trying to create a pdf that will open in full screen mode and be a self running presentation but will display at 100% or at the actual page size and resolution.
When full screen mode is selected and with 100% selected in the properties or with actual size selected in the properties, when the pdf file runs on large screen monitor it enlarges the page display so it is no longer at 100% of size or it actual size (pages are set up at 8.5 by 11 inches full screen mode on large 20 monitor make them enlarge).
Is there setting combination that can use the full screen mode and thus use the self running presentation but still maintain the image display size and correct resolution 100% at 72 ppi.

Not having problem with the pdf file autostarting, there are no movies or sounds in PDF file only transitions with auto flip are used. My issue is getting the file to display at correct size and resolution with the full screen mode also turned on in the document properties (running acrobat 9 pro on mac os 10.5.8). Using 100% or actual size or fit page in the initial view setting seems to not effect this when the full screen mode also is selected. I want the file to display at its correct size and resolution, I thought that using 100% vs actual size would make the file display at its 8.5 x 11 size or what ever size is used regardless of monitor size it is displayed on. PDF file seem to do this when the full screen mode is not used.
I thought that I had gotten this to work with full screen mode before, maybe this has changed with acrobat pro 9 on mac?
It seems there is no way to affect the display within the fullscreen mode. So for example if you set in document properties under the initial view the magnification to 50% when the the full view mode is checked it overrides this magnification setting this seems to be so if using the actual or the 100% setting. Yes the 20 or 27 inch monitor displays it larger and also distorted because the file resolution is intentionally kept at screen res 72 ppi because I need to maintain a small file size. This is not what I want to happen. I thought there was a way to control how the file displays when using the fullscreen mode. this is my making me crazy issue.

Actually what you are seeing is what it shows on your monitor. and will be different for each person's monitor. 100% on a 15" monitor is going to show much smaller than on a 27" inch monitor.
As for the autostart. On Macintosh only sound and movies are allowed to autostart, and even then only from computer or if your using Quicktime , or possible for music iTunes. PC's are the ones that allow anything and everything to autostart. I don't know if its as big an issue now oas when Apple begaan the policy. But it was apple actually looking after the users best interest. You see a lot of Virus, Trojan Horses, worms, and other malware were installed using autostart commands so Autostart simply does work  Now you could create a PDF to be burned on a DVD and sent to people, That can be set to AutoStart. but it would fail for your mac users.  it doesn't take but a second for a person to click on a PDF to run it.

  • Acrobat pro 9 - How do I reference the text in another textbox on another page?

Near the top of each page on my form I have a text box that users are to enter their company name.  Unfortunately, there is the same information requested on each page in the form.  It is too far down to use a header, but I don't think you can place a field in the header.
I know that you can use the Calculate tab to reference the numeric values of other fields, for mathematical purposes.  What I would like to do is: Have the other company name fields in the rest of document reference the first one so the user only has to enter it once.
I have been searching and googling without success, and I even checked the manual but found no reference in the logical areas.  Can this be done with Acrobat Pro 9?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Huh.  Whaddya know, it does.  Such an easy solution.  And it is probably documented somewhere.  I guess I should have done more than skim through the manual.  Thanks Gilad.

  • Once you create a printable form in Acrobat Pro 9, how do you add a submit button?

I have created printable PDF forms, but don't know how to add a submit button so they can be filled out and emailed. Currently if the people filling them out only have Reader they can only be printed out. They cannot be saved, and they cannot be emailed. Can the submit functionality be added in Adobe Acrobat Pro, or do you have to do that with a third party software?

Yes, you can use the Extend Features in Adobe Reader, shown here but grayed out since I don't have a form open.
When you do that, the people filling out the form will be able to Save a copy of the form for themselves and to forward a copy of the PDF to you. You might want to make a copy of the form first if you might have to make changes in the future since the Extended form cannot be edited directly.

  • Acrobat Pro 11 - How to suppress default application pop-up

We've got the Creative Cloud desktop apps license, so I used the creative cloud packager to build an Acrobat Pro Package. I just deployed the pkg to a test Mac OS X system with no problems. Since this is for a school computer lab environment I need to suppress the pop-up box that says "Adobe Acrobat Pro is not the currently configured to be the default application for PDF Files. Would you like to make PDF files open with Adobe Acrobat Pro instead of Preview?" (See below). I do not want to change the default application, and most importantly I do not want users presented with this pop-up. I combed through the com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.plist file in ~/Library/Preferences and nothing's jumping out at me. I've read through a lot of the documentation on this site and can't seem to find a list of all of the keys, sorry if I'm missing something obvious, and thank you for any help.

That is an OS setting not an application setting.  There are utilities that can help you do this but you probably will need to write a she'll script to do it.  This link might help explain what needs to happen but you will need to create/write the script on your own.

  • Acrobat Pro Extended - how can I add links to 3D-objects?

    Hi there,
I'm using Acrobat Pro Extended 9.0 and I would like to attach links to different filetypes to a 3D-object in a 3D-PDF. I tried to use the link-tool but it seems like that only works for 2D-PDF. Also in the 3D-Reviewer I haven't found a way yet to make it work.
    Thanks
    what eva

It's possible, but not in the simple tools-based way.
The "easiest" way is to add a Javascript to the 3D annotation which hooks the mouse event, scans the event.hits array and reacts based on the contents. If a mesh object is clicked the hits array will contain the mesh name in position 0 (then everything behind it in order). Your only issues arise when you want the "normal" clicking action to work as well (for selecting nodes, etc.), in which case you have to ensure your script passes the events about.
Many of the example files on the acrobatusers.com 3D gallery use that principle, and there are also some in the adobe.com section on 3D Javascript. The idea of a '3D linking tool' is a loooong way off - the way 3D is handled by Acrobat isn't set up to understand things at that level - the UI sees the 3D model as nothing but a black box that can be shouted at.

  • Acrobat Pro XI - How to Modify Existing Alt Text?

My name is Pete Edwards and I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI [version 11.0.0.379] on a Windows 7 platform. I receive PDFs (typically several photos in a gallery-type format) from clients for upload and I run the Make Accessible Wizard to verify that all of the information is correct. Often I determine that the Alt Text for some images is incorrect but I am unable to make any edits to the Alt Text because the Wizard tells me "There are no figures with missing alternate text" [see insert]. Can anyone help me with this problem? Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi Pete,
One way to edit alt text is in the Tags pane. Along the left of the screen you may see an icon that looks like a tag. Mouse over text will read "Tags: View and edit structured PDF information". If it is not there then View > Show/Hide > Navigation Panes > Tags. Once you open the Tags pane, locate the Figure tag with inaccurate alt text, right click it and select Properties. Alt text is on the Tags tab of the Object Properties dialog, and should be displayed by default.
Another way is to select the Touch Up Reading Order tool, then right-click the image and select "Edit Alternate Text".
    Hope this helps.

  • Acrobat Pro 11 - how do I add more review servers?

I have reviews in progress, so I do not want to remove the present server. I need to add at least one more server, but I don't see any way to do this, I only see a way to remove servers. What is the procedure for adding servers (this is not in the user manual), and how many can I add?
    Thanks

You can add reviewers in Acrobat from Tracker with the following steps:
    1. Open Tracker(from View menu).
    2. Under Reviews->Sent node on Left hand panel, Click on the review  for which you want to add the reviewers.
    3. Right hand panel shows the details of that review and options to Add reviewer/Change deadline/End Review etc. Click on the Add Reviewers Option to add reviewers
Or Right clikcing on the review at step 2 also, shows an option for Add reviewers under contextual menu.

  • Acrobat Pro 9 - How To Get Sum of Highlighted Text

I am trying to find the best way to add numbers from scanned documents. I would like to use the highligh feature to mark the numbers I am going to add up and get a total sum of those combined numbers as I go. Is there a way to do this?
If not is there a way to take just the highlited areas and put them in a line by line so it would be easy to see  just the highlited text?
    Expamle Line by line:
    $1.50
    $2.50
    $11.95
    ect..
Even better would be to have a line by line of the highlighted text with a sum.

    Lots of issues!
A scanned page is just an image no text. So you need to OCR the document.
"Highlight" is a comment and only the highlight annotation and has no content unless a comment text is added to the highlight. So just the highlight over an image or text knows nothing about what is covered but you could find its location.
Acrobat knows only words and location of words on the page. So you would need to have a script to match the location of the highlight's location to a words location. You may need to adjust for rotation of pages.
You then need to convert a text field with numbers as text to numbers.
To display the number, you will need to dynamically add fields and the computed value or the formula to compute the value.
All of this is just to much to cover in a single forum post.

  • Acrobat Pro X - How to allow user to save form with data

I'm evaluating the trial version to make sure it does what we want.  I want the user to be able to save a form to their PC with the data they've typed in.  In my search of the forums I found an answer that said to look at File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF but for me all of the further sub-choices are greyed out.  Is this a limitation of the trial or am I on the wrong trail?  Does the software have the feature we want, and if so, how do I add it to my form?
    many thanks for your help

OK I think I answered my own question.  When I re-opened the file and looked at the options they were no longer greyed out.  That's a strange way for software to work, but I guess that's par for Adobe.

I already went through the "send for shared review" process, with the file in a network folder, but need to add more reviewers.  Do I just forward the email it created for the original reviewers to the new reviewers?  I don't see a way to add reviewers from within Acrobat.
