Acrobat Reader install from CD?

I have just finished a project for work that needs Flash and Acrobat to be viewed. There is concern that a lot of our clients will not have access to the internet and not be able to download the Reader.
Is there a way to put the installer on the CD so they can install it from there instead of the internet?
Thanks
Ryan

Yes, you can use the full offline Reader installer from
http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
However, I understand that for distributing this, you need a (free) license.

  • Acrobat Reader installed detection via JavaScript

I am curious whether or not Adobe plans on using AcroPDF.PDF.1 as an indicator of the most current version of Adobe Reader (for activeXObjects in Internet Explorer). I know that this will work for detecting whether Reader 7 is installed but now that I think about it, when Reader 8 comes out, if a user already has Reader 7 installed, obviously AcroPDF.PDF.1 will be defined in their registry so eval("new ActiveXObject('AcroPDF.PDF.1')") will return true. Does anyone know, Adobe specifically, how the next version of Reader will be classified in the ActiveX list (or registry key). Will it be AcroPDF.PDF.2?
The reason why I am asking is because I need to detect whether or not our clients have the latest version of Acrobat Reader installed for printing documents from our site. I apologize in advance if the following code looks really messy. This is my first post and I just pasted my code directly into the textarea box. Here's what my detection code looks like and works fine for now (but when Reader 8 comes out....hmmmm):
    if(window.ActiveXObject) { // Internet Explorer  var tryReader7 = true;  for (var iVer = 20; iVer >= 0; iVer--) {   try {    if(tryReader7) {     /*********************************************      Check to see if Reader 7 is installed first.     TRUE: Break out of loop     FALSE: Set flag to false so that this check       isn't executed each pass through       by the loop     *********************************************/     tryReader7   = false; // We only want to check ONCE          var Reader7Exists = eval("new ActiveXObject('AcroPDF.PDF.1'); ");     if(Reader7Exists) {      // User met Adobe Reader Version Requirements      oReader.installed = "True";      oReader.version  = max_ReaderVerReq +".0";      oReader.message  = aMessageStatus[4]; //"Adobe® Reader® installed"      oReader.needsUpdate = 0;      break;      }    }        var ReaderExists  = eval("new ActiveXObject('PDF.PdfCtrl." +iVer+ "'); ");    if(ReaderExists) {     // User met Adobe Reader Existence Requirements     oReader.installed = "True";     oReader.version  = iVer + ".0";     oReader.message  = aMessageStatus[4]; //"Adobe® Reader® installed"     break;     }   } catch(e) { // (minimum|maximum) version not detected    oReader.message  = aMessageStatus[7]; //"You do not have the latest Adobe® Reader® installed or enabled.   }   }

I am trying with Reader 9.
I am not trying to print from the server. The printing will happen on the client computers that is why I am trying to print using javascript from an html page. My clients do have different versions of Reader from 6 to latest
Is there any way to achieve it with out installing anything else on the computers?
    Thanks,

Acrobat reader installed fine, but opens for five seconds and then closes. Using Windows 7 and McAfee on a Dell laptop.

You can try using Windows Explorer to navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement

Are there any settings to enable this with https sites?

  • Adobe acrobat reader install unsuccessful?

I am uninstall a version of acrobat reader, and now I cannot install any version. Why is this?
    Same thing with Safari.
    Thanks!

Don't know. You didn't provide any details so the chances of someone making an informed guess are slim.
Perhaps you should post your question on Adobe's discussion forums since it's their software you're having issues with.

  • Windows 7 check registry for acrobat reader install

How can I check registry to detect if Acrobat reader (any version) is installed. I need to check this for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008.
For Windows XP I was able to do this by searching for key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Installer OR HKLM\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\Installer
and looking for the value of Path key.
    Please let me know. thanks

SInce this is the Acrobat forum and not the Reader forum, I have no idea. You might try the Reader forum for the Adobe Reader product. There has not been an Acrobat Reader since version 5, and then it was also a different product.

  • I have the latest version of acrobat reader installed (10.1.4.38) but it still says it needs updating

Problem started out of the blue a few days ago. When I go to a page with a PDF file, it says "Plugin is vulnerable... click to start anyway" (paraphrased). When I look in Add-Ons, it has the following line about the Acrobat Reader "adobe acrobat is known to be vulnerable and should be updated 10.1.4.38". That is the latest version available.
I tried updating it, removing it from my computer, reinstalling, etc, several times. No improvement - I still get the same message.

Hi garyd11, has Adobe Reader ever run correctly on your PC, in other words, is this a new problem? Actually, regardless of your answer, if Adobe Reader has crashed, I suspect that restarting Windows might help.

  • Acrobat Reader install failing but installer says it completed successfully

I am trying install Acrobat Reader 9 on a Windows XP Pro machine.
The download manager starts, says it is downloading and installing installing the reader, it completes the download, then it says installation was successful, and the download and installation progress bar is at a 100% but it hangs at that point.
Tried closing the download manager it say it is still installing an application, close anyway, and check sure enough Acrobat Reader is not installed.
If I try relaunch, it just goes straight to showing that installation is complete.
At this point if you check add/remove programs the download manager is listed but Acrobat Reader is not.  If reboot, then neither the download manager or Acrobat Reader is listed.
At this point if I go back to the download page, and relaunch the whole process it starts with wanting to install the download manager again.
I have tried this with Anti-virus both enable and disabled now affect.
    Please help!!

  • How can I do Acrobat separate install from CS3

Hi, I previously posted in the Acrobat windows forum but realise here would be better.
I want to install Acrobat from CS3. Remembering past difficulties (couldn't remember exactly what) I thought I'd get instructions before rather than after problems. But eventually thought how hard can it be. Well....
Story so far - Fresh xp install, installed CS3 choosing only Acrobat, seemed to go fine but won't let me open unless I install other program/s.
I don''t want them. Have switched to other graphic apps, and am happy with them and don't want the adobe octopus again on my nice clean machine.
So uninstalled, and instead installed Acrobat 7 standalone till I can sort this.
Possible option, download Acro9 and use my old serial from when I had the full CS3 loaded? Would this work?  I just feel ripped off at the moment. Using an outdated version, when I have a perfectly good newer one doing nothing, only because I choose my own applications thanks.
And another thing (raving now) a warning under the so called setup options that this would happen loading Acro alone might have saved a whole lot of time and reboots.
    Any help appreciated.
    Ta

Thanks so much Bob, (even if I didn't want to hear that!) I would've considered one other, but already, almost immediately I have started having insufficient resource errors. I don't know why. I run very resource heavy apps simultaneously without a hitch normally. Now it happens when I try to open one extra window or copy a few files with nothing else running. Ah, these things were sent to try us.
    Thanks again anyway.

  • Acrobat reader install fails on vista - says close windows explorer

I'm trying to install the latest reader on a Windows Vista laptop but the installation fails with an error message "you must close windows explorer".  In task manager there are no running applications but I can see explorer.exe in the list of processes.  I think this is running the desktop/taskbar so I don't want to close it.  Any ideas how to get round this?
    TIA

    This might work.
    1) Open Adobe Reader
    2) Go to Edit then Preferences
    3) Under Categories on the left side click on Internet
    4) Uncheck Display PDF in browser and click Ok.

  • Does Adobe Acrobat / Reader  upgrade from v8.x  to v9.x  affect ABAP ?

    Hi  ,
There is an ADOBE ACROABAT/ READER upgrade planned from V8.x to V9.x  in our organization .
    1)  Does this affect any of the application/ process where ABAP is involved .. like forms, Fonts printing  ?
    2)  Is there any thing that ABAP team shoud be prepared for ADOBE upgrade ?
    Thanks in advance ,
    Dharma.

    Hi,
If you are only using adobe forms to display data , there is no worry from abap side, but if you have interactive adobe forms deployed then you may have to check the web service configuration and also above version 8.X there is a security warning message which comes on interactive forms.

  • How do I install Acrobat Reader on a computer with no Internet connection?

I have an elderly friend who does not have Internet access.  She needs to be able view PDF files on her computer which is running Windows 7.  I attempted to download Acrobat Reader install file and put it on a disk to take to her computer and install it there.  When I opened the file, it did nothing.  It just sat there.  When I opened the file a second time, I got a message that it had errors.  She lives 35 miles from me, so I need to get it right the next time!  I would appreciate advice on the following:
What (free) Adobe PDF reader product / version would be best for her?
How do I download the necessary file(s) via my computer & Internet connection and copy them to a CD or USB thumb drive, then take the file(s) to her computer, install and get the reader program up and running for her?
    Thank you for your help!

You can get the full Reader installation from here: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/
This is the XI version, which I think is more suitable for a computer without internet access, as the DC version will just nag you about connecting to the cloud and enabling "mobile link", which you obviously can't do without internet access.

  • Error Message: Unable to load Acrobat Reader control.  Please make sure it is correctly installed.

The above error message appears when my client tries to open PDF files from a website.  He is running Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 9.  This problem just started happening about one week ago.  Saving the PDF to a file and then printing from there works, but he has to open and print about 20-30 files per file that he does, so that is not feasible for him to do.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader X, with no luck (he never even had Acrobat Reader installed - ever).  I have uninstalled his anti-virus, but that didn't help.  I have checked for any updates that may have installed recently, but there were none.  He is also having this problem on his laptop, which is running Windows XP with Internet Explorer 8, so this leads me to believe that it is an Adobe issue.
He did not feel like he should have to pay Adobe for them to figure out their own problem, so that was out of the question.  I can't say that I blame him.  Unfortunately, he works from home, so this has really put an impact on his business.  If anyone has seen this before, or if anyone has any solutions, please let me know!  Any and all help is appreciated!  I work on computer's for a living, so don't worry about over-explaining any solutions you may have.
    Thank you!

That file only? And before version X, Adobe did not recommend having Acrobat and Reader installed in the same Win computer...

  • Can't print from acrobat reader

I have a mac mini (2011) running lion. I have the latest version of Acrobat Reader installed. When viewing any pdf file, it works fine. However, if I click on the printer icon, nothing happens. Nothing goes to the print queue. Also, if I hit File>Print, the printer dialogue doesn't appear. Nothing happens at all.
I can print pdf files from Preview, just fine, so I know it's not a printer problem.
I've trashed and reinstalled Acrobat Reader, fixed permissions, rebooted and trashed the Adobe Application Support files from Library.
I'm stumped. I have to have Acrobat, as it's the only program that can open certain government forms. I can't "print as image" since I can't even get the printer dialogue to show up. I'm only having this issue on one machine, so I'm completely stumped.

"IF" You are using, OSX.4.11 Try locating , downloading, installing AppleJack (there currently isn't a version for Leopard or Snow Leopard). The to Run Restart holding down the Command-S keys. This put you in Single User Mode (Raw UNIX).
when a screen full of print scrolls through and your left with a Blink Cursor, Type applejack.
simply follow directions. go by the numbers follow them in order they are given.
Now items 3&4 you have to do once for your system, and once for each User Account (name you gave computer when setting up example you gave name as John Smith name for user account would be johnsmith).
Once completed (1-5)  hit return then choose Reboot or Shutdown.
In your case choose r and then hit return.
when it restarts wait, a whole bunch of cache files were dumped. You may even see the "dreaded "Blue screen for a little bit, and bits and piece of the desktop will appear until completely rebuilt.
    After rebuilt Try printing.
If that doesn't work. Report back and maybe someone else can come up with an idea.
