Acrobat Tab for 64 bit Access

I have the 64 bit version of Office 2010 installed along with Acrobat 10.1 Standard. Is there a COM Add-in for the Acrobat PDFMaker for Access 64 bit? The add-ins seem to work for the 64 bit versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook but not for Access. Seems odd they they would make support for everything in Office 64 bit except Access.

bit, so update to 8.1

  • Latest Acrobat reader plugin for 32-bit Safari?

I'm visiting web pages that have PDF that require the latest Adobe Reader.  I'm using 5.1 Safari on an older Intel iMac that is only 32-bit.  The latest download of reader claims it's only for 64-bit macs. Is there a version of the plugin that can in fact 32-bit and read the newer acrobat reader format?

The Reader app is 32 bit.
By default, it opens on 64 bit OS X versions in 32 bit mode.
Having a CoreDuo Mac shouldn't be a problem for Reader 11.0.4.

I can't add a tab for email for windows live mail to the tab bar, I am using windows 7, 64 bit . I can add it to the 32 bit o/s, but not the 64 bit.

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Windows 7 64 bit, Access 2010 32 bit, Oracle 10G client 32 bit, Oracle database 10.2.0.4 64 bit

I am trying to connect to an Oracle 10.2.0.4 database from Windows 7 OS - 64 bit using
Access 2010 32 bit and Oracle 32 bit client version 10.2.0.1 installed on PC.
My user requires a 64 bit Windows 7 OS for other needs.
Oracle ODBC driver is 32 bit from Oracle 32 bit client.
In Windows 7 OS 64 bit, ODBC DSN setup software is located in:
C:\Windows\system32\odbcad32.exe for 64 bit drivers - all DSN types setup and
C:\Windows\syswow64\odbcad32.exe for 32 bit drivers - USER DSN setup
When I run the ODBC Data Source Administrator, I see the Version number is 6.1.7601.17632
I setup a User DSN using the 32 bit odbcad32.exe with a 32 bit ODBC driver.
Our Oracle TNSnames.ora file has our standard entries which have worked for years
(Windows 7 OS 32 bit and everything 32 bit has connected for years too)
So when I configure an ODBC User DSN and leave all the default settings and press the TEST Connection button, it says it works.
But when I open the existng Access 2010 database (which does connect to Oracle in a Windows 7 32 bit PC environment),
    1. I go to Access External Data ribbon tab / Link to the Data Source by creating a linked table / press OK
    2. I select the Machine Data source = to the USER DSN name / press OK
    3. The Oracle ODBC Driver Connect Window opens with Service Name = USER DSN and User Name and it wants a Password
    4. I enter the correct password and I get the following error message:
    ODBC call failed
[Oracle][ODBC]{Ora]ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified
    (#12154) [Microsoft][ODBC Driver manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed IM006 0
             [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed (#0)
I have tried a quite a number of fixes:
I have gone into the PC registry and cleaned out most or all off the Oracle client keys and
reinstalled the Oracle 32 bit 10g client. It didn't fix the error.
I read about the Oracle instantclient-basic-win32-10.2.0.4.zip with ODBC modules but I have Windows 7 64 bit.
Anyone experienced a problem like this and have a fix?

    Thank you for your reply.
I did not get to try it because after I entered my question, I did a lot more internet Googling.
    I found this small comment:
“There's a known issue where you get a 12154 error message running 32 bit software on a 64 bit OS using client 10201, and
It should be resolved by patching the client to 10204, which you do by applying the 10204 database patch to it.”
I searched around for the 10.2.0.4 patch for 10.2.0.1 Oracle 32 bit client.
When I contacted my Oracle DBA to ask if he had that patch, he said that I should try the 11g 32 bit client on the Win 7 64 bit PC.
We have a 10.2.0.4 Oracle database but he said the 11g client should work fine.
I tried it and it solved the problem!
With so many settings, configurations and permissions involved in ODBC, I am inclined to think that I missed a setting but
it was a bug in the 32 bit client 10.2.0.1.
    Solved.

    Hi BIRam,
Based on the current information, the issue may be caused by the factor that the SQL Server Agent Service Account doesn’t have access to the MySQL server. Try to create a SQL Server Agent Proxy account that has sufficient permission on the MySQL server.
In addition, also pay attention to the package protection level setting.

  • Can't Get Acrobat Tab to Display in Word

Hi - I hope someone can help.  I followed all of the steps here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdfmaker-unavailable-office-2007-off ice.html
I especially followed the Repair Acrobat re-install, but nothing seems to work.  I'm trying to get hired to do 508 Compliance and the employer is trying to test my ability, but I can't even begin the testing on my computer (Windows 7 Alienware) because part of the procedure is to have the PDF Maker tab in Word.
It appears that the Maker is there.  See image below:
But after following the various steps at the URL above, nothing seems to work.  Here's a snapshot of my Word.  No PDF tab there:
Please help me on this.  i'm trying to bid on a 508 job and need to get this to work so I can prove to the employer I can do the work.
    Thanks.

"Best Practice" would be to have an install of Acrobat Pro version and MS Office version that result in having a PDFMaker that is compatible with the Office version you are using.
Alternative is to use the MS Office Save As PDF - XPS method to obtain a tagged PDF which you then post-process into ISO 14289-1 compliance using Acrobat Pro.
-A big plus of using Acrobat XI Pro is that it supports creation and checking PDFs that meet the PDF/UA ISO standard (if ISO  compliant a PDF achieves WCAG
Do note that to be Section 508 compliant you need an ISO 14289-1 PDF. This ISO standard is the PDF/UA (Unversial Accessible) standard. 2.0).
Note that older reference information from dot GOV and dot EDU sources may not reflect the ISO standard and should be avoided.

  • How do you control the security of the Acrobat tab in MS Office ribbons in Citrix

To stay in licensing compliance, we control who has access to Adobe Acrobat by using Active Directory for our Citrix users. This works for the actual program, but how do I make it so the Acrobat tab, in Office programs, doesn't even show up for those who aren't in the security group (as of now, it shows up but they can't click on anything inside of it without getting errors). What about the options in the right click context menu? I don't want non-acrobat users to be able to see the option "Combine Files in Acrobat" when they right click on a file.

You can use the Menu Editor extension to rearrange menu items - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/menu-editor

  • Creation of Add-on package for 64 bit and 32 bit SAP Business One Client

Please help me creating package for 64 bit and 32 bit SAP Business One. If Add-on executable is compiled with x86 option then there is no issue of connecting Add-on with 32 bit SAP Business one and if Add-on executable is compiled with Any CPU option then there is no issue of connecting Add-on with 64 bit SAP Business one. Problems are mentioned as below
    1. My Add-on uses MS ACCESS connection and the connection is read using Jet OLEDB 4.0 provider. It works fine for x86 compile mode but not when compile mode is Any CPU. I searched for the issue on Google and found a solution to change MS ACCESS connection provider to ACE.OLEDB.12.0 but again ACE provider is installed according to the Office version i.e. 32 bit or 64 bit office suite. If I install 32 bit ACE provider then Add-on executable compiled with x86 version is working fine but with Any CPU option throws error as provider is not registered on current machine.
    2. Secodly, our license validation activex dll is build using vb 6.0 and therefore when Add-on executable is compiled using Any CPU option, Add-on EXE cannot read from license dll. Any suggestion, how the activeX dll can be compiled whose component can be created from for X86 compiled exe and any cpu compiled exe.
Please help because we are stuck in this issue and cannot move forward.
    Thanks.

    Hi Alejandro,
That is one solution but did your add on used ms access connection? if you used Jet oledb to connection string or ace oledb connection string? what if 32 bit office is installed and what if 64 office is installed? how did you found the office version in install script? after determining the office version how did you installed Microsoft redistributable for ace oledb (32 bit or 64 bi )?
I am sorry that I asked many questions but these are the problems where I am stuck with the addon installer?
    Thanks

  • My Acrobat tab is missing in Office 2013

I have office 2013 (Windows 7) and Acrobat XI (Creative Cloud). I have always had an Acrobat tab and have used it successfully many times to create PDFs. Recently it has gone missing. I no longer have the tab, and I can no longer create PDFs. I can still print to PDF, but this does not create any book marks for headings and such in Word, so the PDF is not very useful to me. I frequently create large documents and really need that feature that the ribbon tab gave me to be able to have all the Word headings converted to bookmarks in the PDF.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling: Acrobat, the PDF Maker, the PDF Maker and Acrobat, and Office all to no avail. This morning I unistalled Office and Acrobat, rebooted, then reinstalled and still nothing. When you open Options in Word, it shows the addin is not checked (disabled) If i try to check it, it does not take. I mainly create PDFs from Word, so this is my primary concern, but I also checked the other Office apps. In Outlook, it shows it also unchecked with a message below that says there was an error loading. Excel and PointPoint interesting enough show the plugin loaded, but there is still no ribbon tab, nor buttons.
    Here are some images:
So I am at a loss. I am not sure how to fix this problem, or what caused it in the first place. As it used to work just fine on this computer.
Any assistance is apprecaited. Thank you.

When you post, do not expect an immediate answer. We users do not live on this site and check periodically. However, one of us is often around. I was considering replying about doing the updates when I got to your second post. Actually 11.0.01 is even old. You should be able to do updates from the Help menu in Acrobat or download them from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows. The updates generally have to be installed in order (most are not cummulative).
WORD 2013 was released after Acrobat 11.0.0, requiring the updates for Acrobat to properly operate. Even if a beta was available, Adobe does not generally target the beta for updates since they are often totally different from the final release, wasting a lot of programming time on the part of Adobe.

  • IFilter 9 for 64-bit on Server 2008 R2 creating thousands of folders

I have installed iFilter 9 for 64-bit on a 64-bit Windows Server 2008 R2. As soon as it was installed I started seeing thousands of folders in the root of c: with the names like A9R1aa0-e3efao.  I uninstalled iFiler 9 and the folder creation stopped.  I deleted all of the folders and reinstalled iFilter 9 and the folder creation started again. Each folder has one E-mail converted to a PDF file.  We have an Exchange server on a different box and it appears that the iFilter is accessing this server and recreating all E-mail on the server that the iFilter is installed on. How can I stop this from occuring?

Did you ever find out what the deal was? I am having a similar issue. Thousands of directories are being created and what's even more scary is that I cannot find the original files anywhere else. There is now nearly 80k files inside random directories on the root of my server.

  • Trying to compare FCP with Media 100 for a Public Access studio

    Hi all,
I am new here. I do most of the review of products for our Public Access studio. We have a couple of existing Media 100 systems and we are considering adding or upgrading our NLE capabilities. Our studio manager had a chance to look at FCP being used at our high school and she came back with a number of impressions that I wonder about and would like to vet with people who know more about FCP. So, any comments would be helpful.
The high school media person demo’d FCP for her and let her play with it a bit. After looking at it herself, she says she would definitely say Media 100 is easier to understand/use, especially if you've never used non-linear editing before. That is fairly typical of the people doing Public Access production in our town.
However, it looks to her like there are a lot of tools that come with FCP that Media 100 either doesn't have or are not easily found in it. For example, she feels FCP’s set up looks more complicated and confusing compared to Media 100’s, but in FCP you can have up to 99 video lines in a program, where with Media 100 we're just going back and forth between the a and b video lines. Plus you can have up to 99 Audio tracks on FCP as well, where our max at the moment is 8. Now as to when you would need 99 video or audio tracks, she is not sure, but it is definitely a capability that we don't have in Media 100.
Titling looked easier to her on Media 100. With FCP there were a lot of filters involved and hoops to jump through, plus she couldn't do a word with each letter a different color, for example, unless she did each letter on a different track.
The media person warned her that FCP is really large. Apparently the program itself takes up like 35 GB of space on the hard drive, and a typical 30 min. project comes in at over 100 GB! She couldn't believe it, but she was assured it’s true. Even with our longest programs, like like a School Committee meeting thqat went 3 1/2 hours, it would came in at a max of 30 GB on the Media 100. She got the impression this big difference was so because Final Cut renders everything you do, including rendering any edits you make on your footage as new files, and stores it all in a huge folder. She thinks with Media 100, you import the footage and use it as is - the only things it will render are screen freezes, transitions, and color effects. Is that sort of comparison correct (and fair), or is something being missed?
She says in her experience that something like iMovie is the most basic as far as what you can do, then Ulead would be a step above that- the editing is basically the same, but you have a few more options. Media 100 would be next as far as ease of use and understanding of the program. FCP seemed a little confusing even to her. Comments or insights?
    G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Welcome to the family, maybe.
I switched from M100 about four years ago, I was never so glad to give that company the boot. A direct comparison just isn't possible but I'll try to answer some questions. There is a Media 100 forum on creativecow.net.
she says she would definitely say Media 100 is easier to understand/use, especially if you've never used non-linear editing before.< </div>
Yes, absolutely, M100 has always had an elegant and refined interface. However, the paradigm in FCP is not opaque. It's far more interesting, deeper, more complex. So, yes, it's a bit tougher to grasp. But don't sell your students/users short. They'll get it.
99 tracks is marketing BS. The serious work is done with nesting. How many public access pieces need more than 5 or 10 video tracks?
Titling in FCP depends on third party filters like Boris or tools like LiveType and Motion. The basic titling tools in FCP are lame and difficult to use, in my opinion, compared to the elegant titler in M100 (as long as you don't launch Graffiti).
The installation includes tens of gigs of animation, movie and music loop resources that you don't need to load. The suite includes Motion, LiveType, Soundtrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro and FCP.
If you're shooting DV, a 3-1/2 hour show is, umm, well, you look it up, DV is DV. But if you're capturing 3 hours from each of three cameras, that's a lot of DV.
Rendering depends on lots of things. M100's native codec handles lots of realtime stuff that FCP can't unless you've got a huge Macintosh. Previewing is not a big deal at lower rez in FCP, you get used to it. .
FCP is really scary. You can look at thousands of "I'm in way over my head, HELP!" posts here. But all those folks find they slip right into the Apple paradigm, the weirdly new workflow and start exploring the wide new world of serious editing that FCP opens up. You'll hate it for a few months because it's so dramatically different from M100. You'll love it, though.
If you want to continue the thread, give the rest of the disaffected former M100 users a few days to post their comments. There are many of us here. Then maybe start a new thread, one question at a time.

  • Acrobat Tab in Word Custom UI

In Microsoft Word (2010 & 2013), I have custom ribbon implemented, but the Acrobat tab does not display when the customization is implemented.  Can I get the XML namespace and idQ of the Acrobat tab so I can make it visible?
I use the startFromScratch="true" element to allow customization that would otherwise not be possible. In this mode, I have to add XML code to display each ribbon tab.
Edit: This subject is also discussed under http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/4ceec588-0090-4093-9a97-1fa413f6928f/ addin-ribbon-control-possible?forum=worddev
