Actinic Version 7 into Dreamweaver

I need to import a web site created in Actinic Version 7 into Dreamweaver.
I have a snapshop of the Actinic Site taken from the Application and also the files which are hosted,
Can anyone advise if it is possible to import the site into dreamweaver and keep the formating.
If so can any advice be given on how to do this.
Thanks in advance.

I don't see any reason you can't use DW for the site as long as your host supports FTP.
With that said, I definitely think the site is due for an upgrade away from frames.

After the latest update I can no longer paste text into dreamweaver.  I'm sure it's because of some corrupted file but don't know where to find and make that correction.
    Thanks Adobe, really appreciate it.

Well I can't paste any text into any DW document, file, blank, page name, nothing
The paste command does not work in DW
    I have deleted corrupted cache
    I have tried Restore Preferences
Nothing allows me to paste text in any format from any file format period.

  • Can I transfer the font list into Dreamweaver CS4?

    Hi and thanks for reading,
I just installed Dreamweaver CS4 after depending on DW 8 for
the last few years. It's a fantastic upgrade. But I miss my old
font list. I spent a lot of time creating a great list of cascading
fonts for my style sheets in DW 8. Is there any way to grab that
list and import (if that's the right word) it into Dreamweaver CS4?
I'm referring to the list of installed fonts that DW displays
after typing the CSS font property.

I think it can go either place. The former location is
    vulnerable to a
reinstall, though, while the latter is not. I'm assuming
    that's what you
    are asking....

  • Problems putting published director files into dreamweaver

Hi, Im a recently graduated Graphic Designer and I'm on my
first job creating a website for a printing company. Anyway the
issues im having are, ive created a small interactive director
movie to go on the home page, it has the same kind of feel to the
flash on the home page of www.samsung.com. So ive published it and
put it into dreamweaver and previewed it, and it worked fine. but
when my boss tried it on his computer its not working due to the
fact he needs to download the most recent shockwave software, but
he doesnt want to do this and argues that he never downloads
software updates, and if he doesnt then its most likely his clients
wont either. I need to know if theres a way of gettin it to work
anyway. I have flash on the site and that works fine its just the
director stuff that wont. Ive tried creating it in flash but im
having problems, with the rollovers it wont do the same things
director will, and i dont know how to use the actions buttons
    properly.
Any help anyone could give would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks From Nikky

    Hi Nikky,
The Shockwave plugin is required for viewing Director content
on the web. And so if
someone doesn't have it and doesn't want to download it, that
    person won't be able
    to view the content.
The Flash plugin is installed on a far greater amount of
    computers. Recent stats
say that something like 97% (or thereabouts) of web users
    have the Flash plugin
while only 50% or so have the Shockwave plugin. So, designing
    with Flash is easier
    in that respect.
Director Shockwave is used more for specialised purposes on
    the web rather than an
all purpose site. So, if the plugin is an issue for your
    project and you can
achieve the same things in Flash, then Flash should be your
    tool to use. If you're
doing something that's just not possible in Flash, for
    example real-time 3D, then
you'd argue that the Director is required and the price to
    pay for having that type
of content is that your visitors will need to download the
    plugin to view it.
Whether you're using Flash or Shockwave, it's a good idea to
    warn your visitors
before they enter that page that the plugin is required and
    that they may need to
install a newer version. People will be more suspicious and
    hesitant to install
something that seems to be forced on them rather than offered
    in softer manner.
Hope that's helpful. Good luck with your project.

  • Unable to Insert Adobe Edge Animate files into Dreamweaver CS6!

I have just tried the new Insert Edge Media feature in the new Cloud version of Dreamweaver CS6, but I can't get it to work!!
I have the option, but all the files in the Edge folder are unhighlighted (grey'd out) and I am unable to select anything Edge has published. I have noticed that the file extension has recently changed from .edge to .an with the launch of Animate.. Is this the problem?
Its a shame as its really quite tricky to put edge stuff into a web page at present..
    Any ideas?
    Wesley

Do you have an HTML5 web document open?
Below are instructions from the DW CS6 Reference document
    http://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/dreamweaver_reference.pdf
Import Edge Animate compositions | Creative Cloud
This feature is available for Creative Cloud members and point product subscribers only.
You can import Adobe Edge Animate compositions (OAM files) into Dreamweaver. The composition is placed at the location of the cursor. Dreamweaver extracts the contents of the imported OAM file to a folder named edgeanimate assets. You can change the default location in the Site Setup dialog.
    1. Ensure that your cursor is at the location where you want to insert the Edge Animate composition.
    2. Select Insert > Media > Edge Animate Composition.
    3. Navigate to the location in your computer containing the OAM file, and open it. The animation is placed at the specified location.
By default, the contents of the OAM file are extracted to the edgeanimate_assets folder. A sub folder with the name of the file is created. The contents of the OAM file are placed in the Assets folder under this location.
You can place Edge Animate Compositions into individual pages not part of any site. The files are extracted to the location of the page.
    Location of extracted files
         A. The edgeanimate_assets folder
         B. The folder created using the file name of the OAM file
         C. The Assets folder containing the extracted files
    4. Preview the inserted Edge Animate composition in a browser or in the Live View.
Change default location for extracted files
    1. Open the Site Setup dialog for your site.
    2. Under Advanced Settings, select Edge Animate Assets.
    3. In Asset Folder, modify the location for extracted files

  • Can't paste into Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 after opening any browser on Windows 7 system...

I couldn't paste anything in Design or Code view after updating to Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 this week on my Windows 7 system. I discovered that if I rebooted my computer and opened Dreamweaver without opening any browsers (have tried Chrome, Firefox, IE, Safari, and Opera), then I could paste in both Design and Code views. After I opened ANY browser, however, I could no longer paste in Dreamweaver and couldn't paste in Dreamweaver again unless I rebooted and didn't open any browsers. At first I thought it was a problem with Chrome (a common culprit) and uninstalled all of my extensions, but Chrome clearly was not the culprit this time. All five of my browsers (with tedious system reboots in-between) triggered the same inability to paste into Dreamweaver. I had not installed the update on my Windows 7 laptop yet, and I found that that still was working just fine, so I uninstalled the 2014.1 update from my desktop system and reinstalled the previous version. That eliminated the problem, but I'd sure like to be able to keep my Adobe software updated without experiencing these deal-breaking issues.

Thanks, Preran. After uninstalling the 2014.1 update and reinstalling the previous version, I now installed the 2014.1 update again. Instead of jumping straight into restoring the preferences, I decided to test it out as-is, and it worked! No problems with pasting after opening any of my five browsers. I wonder what may have gone wrong the first time...or what was corrected during the uninstall/reinstall process. In any case, it is working again now and I am grateful. Thanks!

  • How do i install "webassist-free tools" into dreamweaver cc?

Dreamweaver cc will not allow me to install "webassist-free tools".  I read somewhere that "MLX" or something like that, will not install into dreamweaver cc.  It must be configured or converted. Is this true?  If so, can someone please to do that.

The producer of this extension used incorrect attribute name in the mxi file. CS6 is more fault tolerant so it can be installed. But we have rewritten all the code in CC and removed the fault tolerant processing so as to simplify code and improve performance. As a result, without update this extension can't be installed in CC anymore. We have asked the producer to provide a new version for CC but haven't got response.
I just checked http://www.webassist.com/dreamweaver-extensions/free-tools and found that the latest version was released about two weeks ago. It should have fixed this issue. Please try the latest version.

  • Why Can't I Copy/Paste Into Dreamweaver CS6?

I am running Windows XP Professional w/ Service Pack 3 and I have Dreamweaver CS4 and CS6 installed.
When I work on sites in CS6 I find I'm having issues with copying and pasting.  It doesn't matter where I try to pull the information from, it won't paste into Dreamweaver CS6 (code view or design view). It seems to work fine in CS4, as well as every other application I try to paste to.
I don't have CS4 and CS6 open simultaneously. I just kept CS4 because it had a bunch of info on other sites I need to transfer over, as well as testing CS6 before fully commiting to it.
Any insight or help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

I have this problem, too, and it's driving me f'n crazy, too!
While I'm happy other forum members are offering to help by asking diagnostic questions, why grill us over what we have installed and what we can and can't do? This is a problem shared by many users. Why is the burden of "proof' on our shoulders? No offense meant, Nancy and Murray, but are you going to be able to resolve this bug? Unless you work at Adobe, I doubt it! It's not something WE are doing.
I've been using Dreamweaver since version 1.0 in 1998 or so, and I've never had this problem. It seems like something that should be pretty basic to identify and fix. Shouldn't Adobe be on these forums asking what programs we have installed on our machines and what we can and can't do? What help is it if a fellow forum member asks these questions? Adobe is a major corporation that should be listening to our issues, especially if we're forking over $600 PER YEAR for Creative Cloud!
This problem needs to be fixed, and it needs to be fixed now. I can't work like this!

  • Inserting FLASH into Dreamweaver cs3

I am trying to build a VERY basic website in Dreamweaver. Using their single fixed column, centered, template, i would like to ad 2 flash items, a menu and small movie, in to he top of the column. (Both flash items are larger than the column with, if that matters,i was going to resizxe them  nce  i  got  this part of the  cose  correct)
For some reason the flash movie shows in my Dreamweaver preview, but not when i load it live online  @ www.srg-buffalo.com.
The address i have used for the flash movie is: http://www.srg-buffalo.com/flash/header_v8.swf
The website is hosted at www.swq-buffalo.com, if you want to check out the source code.
I have no idea what I am doing wrong, i thought it was pretty simple, there is no flash block via my go daddy host.
How i  inserted it  via dreamweaver  cs3:
    Insert> Media> Flash.
    URL= http://www.srg-buffalo.com/flash/header_v8.swf
    What am  i doing wrong?
    Thanks for any help.

    Thank you,
    That rung a  bell.
I uploaded  both  saved .SWF documents to  the Scripts directory.
There was also  a  Scripts dirrectory saved  with index.html,  in this directory was the  AC_RunActiveContent.js  file, any thoughts on that?
i  uploaded it to  scripts, along witht he  others, and the space  dedicatd to the flash events is there, but they are not  showing.

When you insert the SWF, you shouldn't have to actual type anything - it's a browse and select process and will automatically enter the correct path to the SWF. Then you have to upload the page and the SWF file. This next part I think has changed in later versions of DW, but in CS3 I'm pretty sure the process will also create a folder named Scripts. This folder along with it's contents also need to be uploaded.

  • Frontpage Sites into Dreamweaver CS4

OK I am a newbie to both Mac and Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 on a MacBook Pro and I do not have the option of running Frontpage under Parellels as I have tried it about 20x and Frontpage cannot see my Frontpage files on my Mac .psf network solution . . . so . . . I have to learn DW in one days time; but first, I have to get Frontpage sites into DW.  BTW, have no sympathy for me, I do stupid things like this all the time, it's how I became an expert at Avid Liquid and how I'm doing the same on Final Cut Pro and will probably do on Premier Pro CS4.  Learn by "doing."  However, please be gentle, I'm a novice at Mac.
Anyone tell me how to get Frontpage sites into Dreamweaver CS4?  Also, is DW CS4 version 8?  MX?  Or do none of these versions apply?
Thanks in advance to all who respond.

    Dr Dimento,
I have to confess that the first time I opened DW at the beginning of this week, my first reaction was OMG, what have I done, this is going to be impossible!  I then spent a couple of hours just playing around and it all started to make some sense.
Before even installing DW, I spent some time studying the superb videos here:
    http://tv.adobe.com/product/dreamweaver/
In particular, I would suggest you watch all the videos here:
    http://tv.adobe.com/show/learn-dreamweaver-cs4/
These videos got me to the point where I now feel comfortable with DW.  Some of the videos go by pretty quickly, so watch them twice.  They are really excellent!
I would also suggest you read this:
Migrating from Microsoft FrontPage 2003 to Adobe Dreamweaver 8
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/frontpage_to_dw8.html
Hang in there.... I suspect we will both be glad we left FP behind once we get more familiar with DW.

  • Importing Flash Catalyst file into Dreamweaver

Is it possible to import or use a swf file created in Flash Cataylst into Dreamweaver?
    stevent2011

Yes, Flash Catalyst content can be used in Dreamweaver. However, the version of swfObject might be out of date. You might need to look at the object code in the html. When you publish from Flash Catalyst, there is also a main.html file that you can use a reference for the html.

  • Problems importing Word Doc footnotes/endnotes into Dreamweaver CS4

I am having a problem importing a Word doc with footnotes/endnotes into Dreamweaver. When I do the import (or a copy and paste) I get the references without the actual number for the endnotes in superscript!
I currently have Dreamweaver CS4 (though have also experienced this issue with Dreamweaver 8)
I am currently using Word 2007 (but experienced this same problem with earlier versions of Word).
The document has a standard sort of endnote. In the middle of the text there is a number in superscript that refers to a note at the end. When I do an import I get the nice set of back and forth references with anchors and links but missing the number! Let me copy and paste an example:
Here is the text I have:
the largest multilateral recipient of UK aid,[i] with the UK
    [i] DFID (2010) DFID in 2009-10.
Now here is the HTML I get when I import:
the largest multilateral recipient of UK aid,<a href="#_edn1" name="_ednref1" title="" id="_ednref1"> </a> with the  UK
    And as an endnote:
    <div id="edn1">
        <p><a href="#_ednref1" name="_edn1" title="" id="_edn1"> </a> DFID (2010) <em>DFID in 2009-10</em>.</p>
      </div>
      <div id="edn2">
    What I really need is:
the largest multilateral recipient of UK aid,<a href="#_edn1" name="_ednref1" title="" id="_ednref1">1</a> with the  UK
    And as an endnote:
    <div id="edn1"><p><a href="#_ednref1" name="_edn1" title="" id="_edn1">1</a> DFID (2010) <em>DFID in 2009-10</em>.</p>
      </div>  <div id="edn2">
Does anyone know why these superscript numbers are missing? And how I can get Dreamweaver to put them in. I have long documents with 50 or more footnotes and would hate to have to redo this by hand!

The problem is that some of the material in the endnote/footnote is explanatory in nature rather than just a reference or citation. So I need a way to include explanatory text and don't want to put multiple sentences in ( ) in the middle of the text.
I would have to say clearly someone at Adobe did think conversion of endnotes/footnotes is a worthwhile endeavour, because Dreamweaver is designed to do it! You can see clearly from the code snippet that they programmed Dreamweaver to do an import with a very nice set of back and forth anchor references. Just somehow the actual reference numbers don't show up. In fact the HTML code for this provided by Dreamweaver is very clean and nice (contradicting bemdesign's assertion that you can not turn a word doc into a good HTML doc), with the exception of the missing number references!
Is there a setting somewhere that I might need to play with to get this to work better?? Or something I need to do with the Word doc text before I do an import? Any other work around.

When I try to install extensions into Dreamweaver CC, I get the following dialogue box in the Extension Manager CC:
"Failed to update database. The extension will not be installed."
    What may the problem be?

    Good day to all,
The problem that we were having was caused by a case difference between two folders, like Carl pointed out. The line that created the issue was written like this:
    <file source="File1.htm" destination="$dreamweaver/Configuration/Shared/MyExtensions"  />
    <file source="File2.htm" destination="$dreamweaver/Configuration/Shared/myExtensions"  />
The correct folder was with an upper case ("MyExtensions").
The extensions are now installing correctly however it seems to take significantly longer to install than on previous versions of EM (even previous version of EM CC). Has anyone been experiencing the same long install time? This only happens on Windows OS. On Mac the extension is installed pretty fast.
Any idea how I could lower the install time? We do have a long list of files. Maybe try to use only folders instead of individual files?
    Cheers,
    Andrei
