Activate a flash object
I'm using a flash object in my html and I would like to avoid
the annoying click every time a flash object should be activated. I
know there is a way by using a 3th party program or script
(swobject or something like that) but isn't there a Adobe
Dreamwweaver/Flash way of doing that?
/Rudy
Very simple javascript will override the IE7 settings, and
allow the flash to play each time, without user intevention.
There's not really another way as far as I know, because this
depends on the user's browser. Anything that would be done from
Dreamweaver would be server-side, whereas the Java runs client
side:
- Underneath the last <object> in your HTML page,
insert the following line of Javascript:
<script type="text/javascript"
src="ieupdate.js"></script>
- create a file called ieupdate.js, with the following
content:
objects = document.getElementsByTagName("object");
for (var i = 0; i < objects.length; i++)
objects
.outerHTML = objects.outerHTML;
- Upload the file to your web root.
Fixed!
Hmmm, my first post on this forum - It's a bit bland. Can't
even add code tags around code. Can't see emoticons without
previewing the topic. Gosh!

Flash objects (images/buttons/etc) does not display on some PC's
I am trying to deploy an out of the box web application called the Mid-Tier, where some forms/pages in the application have embedded flash images/buttons/icons that do not display on IE despite the fact that there is Flash installed on these PC's. Most of the PC's are XP.
I suspect it is some of the security settings in IE. Unfortunately security options are disabled to end users so I cannot even get to see what these settings are..
This web application works perfect on some test PC's that have default browser settings and the same flash version installed.
The flash objects appear on these screens as white boxes instead of some control buttons and icons that should have been displayed.,. Hence these pages are non functional.
Any hints?
JoeHello David,
except the latest Flash Player you have also and the latest Java installed (Next Generation Java Plug-in 10.25.2 for Mozilla browsers) , check if you activate the plugins : [https://support.mozilla.org/el/kb/troubleshoot-issues-with-plugins-fix-problems#w_determining-if-a-plugin-is-the-problem Determining if a plugin is the problem], select always active.
see also: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/why-do-i-have-click-activate-plugins#os=win7&browser=fx23 Why do I have to click to activate plugins?]
you said : ''One guy said you could fix it by going Tools > options > content > make sure Automatically load images is checked (but there is no such thing on that tab in my Firefox????)''
not exist any more from 23.0 version and above (see : http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/23.0/releasenotes/) because of this : http://limi.net/checkboxes-that-kill , if you 1 (as a value) in '''permissions.default.image''' in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config about:config] you are OK (checked[v]).
also many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
Thank you. -

to me! could this be the cause of the problem?
I am running XP Pro, IE 6.0, and FireFox 2.0.
any help is appricated.John has the right explanation. Here's some more info....
It's IE-only behaviour as a result of changes Microsoft made
several
years ago to their browser, regarding how Active Content
(Flash, Quicktime
etc)
is handled, after losing a high profile court case.

I've got dotted lines round my flash objects
Hello - if anyone could help me with something, I'd be
eternally grateful!
I'm building a website with Dreamweaver, and it's got several
flash elements, like buttons and pictures.
When I preview the site on my BT browser, everything looks
great - but when I preview it on my IE browser, it's a mess.
When I hover over a flash element, a box of dotted lines
appears around the flash object, and the words "click to activate
and use the control" appear.
When I then click on the object, the box disappears, and I
can then use the buttons etc.
My dreamweaver site is made with tables. The dotted-line box
surrounds the CELL that the flash object is in, rather than the
flash object itself.
I've no idea what this is, or why it only happens in my IE
browser and not my BT one. If anyone can give me some pointers, I'd
be very grateful. At this rate, I'm going to be at my PC all
Christmas Day!
Thanks in advanceFrom an identical question in this forum about 12 hours

Using the <embed> tag in the HTML code to "embed" the
Flash file in the page
(which used to be the normal way of doing it) triggers the
new IE behaviour.
The 8.0.2 updater calls the same Flash file via Javascript
instead so the
new IE behaviour is not triggered..
Once the updater has been applied you upload the changed HTML
page PLUS the
new Scripts folder, containing a Javascript file, which has
just been
created by the 8.0.2 updater.
Note: DW 8.0.2 does not tell you anything about the existence
of, and need
to upload, the new Scripts folder that it has just created.
You're just
expected to know (or find out). Lazy programming by Adobe.

Having to Double-Click Flash Objects in Browser to use
Hello,
Has anyone else experienced the annoying Double-Clicking of
Flash objects in your browser?
In other words, a Flash object will load and play just fine
in my browser, but I have to click it once to activate it then
click again to use buttons.
I'm assuming this might be a security setting for my browser,
but I can't figure it out.
Can anyone assist?Ok - you really just need to use the search function here -
soon this thread will contain replies
from everyone telling you to search first - because this is
asked literally everyday and often
several times per day - yet, it seems to be the least
searched topic - just google it or search the
forum - been asked and answered several times per day for
months - not flaming, just trying to help
because so often, questions have already been answered here
many times and searching is just plain
quicker.
go here:
http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search?q=group:*flash*&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
(it is the google groups archive of this forum)
and type in "active content"
over 1600 returns.
It is the reult of a Eolas vs Microsoft patent lawsuit that
was top web/tech news just a couple
months ago. Tons of resources on it - search google or
adobe.com or microsoft.com.
good luck

How to activate the Info object catalog in Business content
Hi,
While trying to activate the Info object catalog, I found that some of the info objects under this catalog was earlier activated by some other developer. I brought this catalog (0SALES_CHA01) over to the Business content activation panel ( with only 'necessary object settings ) and all the info objects that also came along were de-selected since I didn't want to install those again). When I tried to install these I get an error indicating that some of the info object in question are not already active.. and ultimately the catalog doesnt get activated , although more than half of its infoobjects are already active under the '0CHANOTASSIGNED' node.
Please let me know whether I can get only the Catalog activated without getting any existing activated info object merged or installing those which are not already activated.
Thanks
ArunavaHello Arunava,
Just drag the infoobject catalog as u did earlier to the left in the bus cont installation screen with "only necessary object" option.
Dont try to deselect any object. Go ahead with the default options and install in background.
Now you can check for the available objects in the catalog. if you have some objects missing, and available in unassigned node, double click on the newly installed infoobject catalog, select the required objects (which are not yet assigned to this) from the left side and bring them to the right side.
this will make the unassigned objects assigned to the required catalog.
Hope it helps..

Firefox shrinks flash objects if dynamically written from javascript but not if static in html
firefox shrinks flash objects if the code for the and are written to the page via document.write() in javascript during page load. The object is rendered correctly if the same and are tags in the html document.

How to read a local file using as3 in a flash object in HTML? [urgent]
My web site contains a flash object.
I want to use as3 to read some local .txt file
by getting the user directory of the file.
i know AIR can support this by sth like:
File.desktopDirectory.resolvePath
but when i open a AIR file for this, it seems
the action cant be run when i embed it in html.
And i tried to use the above function in a normal
flash file in the action script.
But it cant recognize the File. class..
How can it be done ?
It's reli urgent,
please help...
Thanks !a web based flash app can't detect user directories. you can use the filereference class'es browse method to let the user locate a file in any directory the user wants. flash can then retrieve the file's name and type. but, as mentioned before, flash can't determine the file's directory.

Flash Player dosn't work in IE 11 even shockwave flash object is activated
Hello,
Flash Player dosn't work in IE 11 even shockwave flash object is activated.
I've installed Adobe Flash Player Version 16.0.0.287 (today).
then
I checked on this page:
http://helpx.adobe.com/de/flash-player.html
says Flash Player not installed or not activated
Active X Version 16.0.0.287
Internet Explorer 11
Win 7 SP1 32 Bit
Please help me.
Thank you in advance
PaulFirst, confirm that ActiveX Filtering is configured to allow Flash content:
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968
Internet Explorer 11 introduces a number of changes both to how the browser identifies itself to remote web servers, and to how it processes JavaScript intended to target behaviors specific to Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, this means that content on some sites will be broken until the content provider changes their site to conform to the new development approach required by modern versions of IE.
You can try to work around these issues by using Compatibility View:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11
If that is too inconvenient, using Google Chrome may be a preferable alternative. -
How to activate all inactive objects for current user
Hi
How to activate all inactive objects for current user ...
... I have found a (long winded) way to do this:
- Environment / Inactive Objects
- Add to Worklist
- Display Worklist
- Select All
- Activate
this will open a dialog titled "Inactive Objects for <username>"
which has the exact functionality I need ... but I can't figure out how to get to this dialog directly - without so many intermediate steps
the SAP docs repeatedly mention the ability to activate the inactive worklist - but do not mention how
does anybody know the TCode for this dialog?
thanks
ps does the term "mass activation" apply to importing change requests rather than development activation?
Edited by: FireBean500 on Jun 4, 2010 11:07 PMNo other way. But usually it's far more simple as all objects are already in our own worklist.
I wonder why your objects are not already in your worklist, as everytime you create or maintain an object, it is added to your worklist. -
Can there be buttons/links on or in flash object?
Hi, I have no idea how to ask this question properly. I am only designing this, not making it, so simple answers for me would be good, but also technical answers that I can pass on to the flash person.
On my home page, I am going to have 3 images that switch out, each that need to have a "learn more >" link and a 1, 2, 3, and pause buttons.
My question is whether or not these image buttons/links can be placed on or embedded in the flash object. I read this is not possible and that buttons or links have to be separate from flash. Ideally if I wanted to place a "go" button on top of my flash image, that would be great.
However I have been told the only option is to make one side of this in photoshop where I have the buttons and then place that next to the flash image. My example of this would be the msn.com home page.
If further descriptions are needed I can post an example.Your image hasn't loaded yet, so I'll describe what you should do. Chances are you will only need one set of buttons to manage everything rather than creating a set for each image.
If you want to convert each of these items into usable buttons, then select one of them, being sure that all its pieces are selected, then right click on it and select Convert to Symbol ( select it and in the toolbar choose Modify -> Convert to Symbol).
In the interface that appears, select Button (you could also select MovieClip, but for now, select Button) and give it a name that relates to its functionality in some way, just so it is recognizable by its name in the library. Click OK.
Do that for all of the items you want to turn into buttons. To make things easier to manage, you should place the buttons on their own layer in the timeline.
If you are handing this over to someone who knows Flash, they should be able to deal with coding the buttons to function the way you want.
