Active Directory Help!!!!
Hi,
I have a problem binding my iBook to my Win2K Domain. I've heard that I need a OS X Server for Authentication ( I don't know if that is true. ). If anyone could tell me how to bind OS 10.3.9 to a Win2K domain without buying anything extra, That would be great!
Andrew
More Info:
I only have a froward lookup zone. ( if this matters )
I can join to the domain on a PC ( XP pro )
The mac basically says "Can't find domain enter a fully qualified domain name."
I also should mention that i don't own a domain name, I just use Win2k DNS on my local network.

Need Help creating new user in Active Directory
I am trying to create a new user in active directory via a java application. I have included the code that I am using. I am able to successfully bind to Active Directory. I have been able to change passwords, and delete users, but I have not been able to create a user.
ldapHost : "mta101.DOM101.CEL.ACC.AF.MIL"
domainName: "dc=dom101,dc=cel,dc=acc,dc=af,dc=mil"
existing account: CN=Brett K. Humpherys,OU=Users,OU=CEL
I get the following error on the createSubcontext statement:

I have commented out the password portion and change the ObjectCategory to a 32 and get the same error.

Need help to access the active directory
Hi.
I have WinXP and I want to connect to its active directory using JNDI to get the users informations..
I have read from sun tutorial the following :
Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,
"com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapCtxFactory");
env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "ldap://localhost:389/o=JNDITutorial");
but the problem is I have never used win active directory before, so I don't
know its syntax inside my system.
what should I put instead of : ldap://localhost:389/o=JNDITutorial
to access the MS active directory ?
what should I put instead of o=JNDITutorial to access the users informations ?
should I modify com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapCtxFactory ?
should I download LDAP server for windows ?
your help is really appreciated ....Using SIMPLE authentication against the Active Directory, you can use either the fully distinguished name (not a relative distinguished name), a userPrincipalName or a NT Domain style name.
Eg.
"CN=John Smith,OU=IT Admins,DC=Antipodes,DC=Comor
"[email protected]"or
"ANTIPODES\jsmith"If you are using the distinguished name form, even if your initial LDAP Context URL is something like:
"LDAP://mydc.antipodes.com:389/OU=IT Admins,DC=Antipodes,DC=Com"you cannot just use the Relative Distingusihed Name (RDN) "CN=John Smith", you must use the full distinguished name:
"CN=John Smith,OU=IT Admins,DC=Antipodes,DC=Com"Regarding the userPrincipalName, even if there is no value for the userPrincipalName attribute there is an implicit userPrincipalName which is constructed from the user's samAccountName attribute (a mandatory attribute) and the dns name of the domain.
Assume the following attributes for the user object:
Distinguished Name: CN=John Smith,OU=IT Admins,DC=Antipodes,DC=Com
samAccountName: jsmith
userPrincipalName: J.Smith@IT Admins.Antipodes.Com
givenName: John
sn: Smith
displayName: Smith, John
An explicit userPrincipalName is the value stored in the user's userPrincipalName attribute.
You could then either use the explicit form "J.Smith@IT Admins.Antipodes.Com" or the implicit form "[email protected]"Even if the userPrincipalName attribute had no value, you could still use the implicit form "[email protected]" to authenticate the user. -

Hi All,
I need to clean up our Active Directory and the first stage of this is to remove any unused groups. I have been trying to work out what these are using powershell. Can anyone please provide me with a simple powershell script that will identify any AD groups
that have no members in them?
Many thanks

How to query members of 'Local Administrators' group in all computers?
Adding in: Watch out for users having customized groups (e.g groups other than Domain Users and Domain Admins) as their primary group, they will not be reflected in the member attribute and hence not be reflected in the above count, I know it's a rare case,
but could be good to know.

Configuration Help - Sun Java Directory 5.2 and Active Directory Sync
Don't know what I am skipping... but I get stuck with no Domain Controllers showing up in the pick list, when configuring an Active Directory Resource.
I am using DS 5.2.P4 on Windows 2003 Sp1 server, along with Indentity synchronization for windows (ISW) 1 2004Q3 SP1.
I have the installtion manaul and can not get past step 6 of creating an Active Directory Source, becuase no Domain Conroller show up in the pick list, nor can I specify one. I have verified that one of the Domain Controllers is configured as Single Master Operations Role in the AD.
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,nebiyou1 wrote:
1. Is Messaging Server 5.2 compatible with Sun Java Directory Server 6.3?This is obviously not a tested (or supported) combination. That being said I'm not aware of any particular issues with MS5.2 and DS6.3.
If Yes, any documents on how to migrate Messaging Server from pointing to Directory Server 5.2 to 6.3?No.
2. Can Messaging Server 5.2 p 2 run on Solaris 10?Yes. However you need to upgrade to 5.2hf2.18 (last hotfix released) to address known Solaris 10 issues e.g.
5108758 Dispatcher incorrectly determines Solaris 10 version
You can get a copy of iMS5.2hf2.18 from Sun support.

Looking for Help with Active Directory Script to Remove a User from msExchDelegateListLink
I'm struggling to put together an Active Directory Powershell script that will remove a specific user from the msExchDelegateListLink.
It looks like Set-AdUser would do the trick. I would want to remove a user in the format of
{CN=Wood\, Sandy,OU=Networking,OU=IT,DC=my,DC=domain,DC=com}
Has anyone succeeded in doing this before?
Orange County District AttorneyI use this:
$user = '<user name>'
$userDN = Get-ADUser $user | select -ExpandProperty DistinguishedName
$delegates = Get-ADUser $user -Properties msExchDelegateListBL |
select -ExpandProperty msExchDelegateListBL
foreach ($delegate in $delegates)
Set-ADUser $delegate -Remove @{msExchDelegateListLink = "$UserDN"}
Never quite got around to putting it into a function.

there is no answer.
But when we request without corp, we find the servers :
bash-3.00# nslookup -query=any gc.tcp.domain.com | grep sis
gc.tcp.domain.com service = 0 100 3268 serveur02.corp.domain.com.
gc.tcp.domain.com service = 0 100 3268 serveur01.corp.domain.com.
bash-3.00#
Is-it possible to add the possibility to enter the domain name where reside the gc.tcp ?
Thank you.Hello

Help installing Flash Player 12 through Active Directory
Hello,
I signed up to for flash player deployment and downloaded the MSI files for IE and other browsers. I published them in my Active Directory under User configuration for the group policy that is assigned to the workstation's OU. On a Windows 7 machine, I am trying to install it through Control Panel > Programs and Features > Install a Program from the Network.
As a standard user, I cannot do this as the install errors out indicating I need admin privileges. Ok that's fine. However, I logged into the computer as Domain Admin, and it still errors out saying I need admin privileges.
This happens regardless of the "Always install with elevated privileges" being enabled or not in that Group Policy, and yes it was set for both User configuration and computer configuration.
If I right-click the MSI file itself and select Install while logged in as a domain admin, then it works fine, the UAC does popup though to continue and it did not do that during the attempted install from the control panel.
The domain controller is Windows 2000. The workstation is Windows 7 Pro x64. What am I missing that prevents me from installing through control panel?http://forums.adobe.com/message/4041846

Help Apache Tomcat integrate with Active Directory
Hello ,
I am trying to authenticate users in Apache Tomcat 5.5 from active
directory with no such luck.
The way my users are structured in AD is there's a department root OU
and then sub OU's for each department . The Groups OU is in its own OU.
This is the syntax Im using for the server.xml file. I have created
two groups am and thc and put the neccesary users in the groups.
<Realm className="org.apache.catalina.realm.JNDIRealm" debug="99"
connectionURL="ldap://dc1:389"
alternateURL="ldap://fs6:389"
userRoleName="member"
userBase="OU=Departments,dc=2krecovery,dc=com"
userPattern="cn={0},OU=Departments,dc=2krecovery,dc=com"
UserSubtree="true"
roleBase="OU=Groups,dc=2krecovery,dc=com"
roleName="cn"
roleSearch="(member={0})"
roleSubtree="false"
userSubtree="true"
/>
Could someone tell me if this is right? Running a Windows 2000 native
domain level with 2 windows 2000 dc's and one windows 2003 dc.

Thanks,
Hemantat com.thortech.xl.adapterGlue.ScheduleItemEvents.adpADDUSERTOADGROUP.implementation(adpADDUSERTOADGROUP.java:49)
This is definitely a Custom Adapter because OOTB Adapter name is adpADCSADDUSERTOGROUP and NOT adpADDUSERTOADGROUP
So, it is your custom code and in the code you are passing incorrect value of the Active Directory Child process form...
The correct name is UD_ADUSRC and the Group Name column name is UD_ADUSRC_GROUPNAME.
While you are passing UD_AD_CHILD as the child process form and UD_AD_CHILD_GRP_NAME as Group Name column name..
Use OOTB Adapter... Correct these discrepancies... Your addition of group will work
And since you are creating custom adapter, you need to be more careful and remain consistent throughout..
Then if you want to use UD_AD_CHILD_GRP_NAME, use it everywhere consistently... Pass only this value in the adapter...
And even in lookups, if any... Search everywhere... Keep things consistent... They will work... Because good news is that you are able to create user in AD via Java Code...
And if any post is even slightly helpful, it is a good habit to mark it with helpful or correct ... And also mark the entire question as answered so that other people also are benefited. -
Have a very recent Lenovo Ideapad Laptop running Windows 8.1. Connected via USB port to HP LaserJet Pro CM1415 frw Color MFP Printer. Was able to print fine nearly 2 weeks ago, but something recently happened - either a new windows or office 2013 update
or perhaps I blew away a certain file by mistake. I can see the printer installed but cannot print to it from anything (Word, Notepad, IE, Firefox etc.). The one thing to note is that usually when I plug or unplug a USB related device, Windows 8.1 recognizes
this and makes a certain chime noise, but with the printer USB cable it never makes that noise - making me think that it never fully recognizes the printer. Also when I select the printer (from within the control panel) and right click for properties (via
admin rights) It never lets me fully connect to it.
I have tried all the usual remedies - remove, install all drivers, reinstall printer, Windows update, start/stop print spooler and all other printer related services, etc. Its really annoying because this printer was working fine nearly 2
weeks ago. Looking for any advice now. Thanks.
-ChrisHi Chris,
à
I have tried all the usual remedies - remove, install all drivers, reinstall printer, Windows update, start/stop print spooler and all other printer related services, etc.
I noticed that you had reinstalled the printer. Just a confirmation, when un-install this printer, please check
if this printer still exist in registry. For more details, please refer to following KB.
Registry entries for printing
If printer entry still exist in registry, please delete that printer entry and re-install this printer again,
then check if this issue still exists. (Please backup registry entries before operating registry. It will help us to avoid unexpected issue.)
àand now see
message Active Directory Domain Services is not available
By the way, would you please let me know where/when get this
Active Directory Domain Services is not available error message? Or provide a screenshot of it?
(Please hide all protected or private information) Please check if all services are running correctly on the computer. Meanwhile, please refer to following article and check if can help you.

Problem: Active Directory Domain Services is currently unavailable – Why does windows say no printers are installed?
