Actual and relative file paths - CS4(mac)
Is there a way to save your file so that it ALWAYS looks for the relative paths of all its content?
My issue is that when i xfer the prproj file to another computer it asks me to reconnect everything. The other computer has exactly the same folder structure as the one i'm copying from minus a different harddrive name. (I just copied and pasted the whole project from computer to computer).
Its really getting to become a huge hassle....any work around and whatnot would be great....thanks!
I deal with this often (yesterday in fact). Things get ugly when you try to re-link a project that has media placed in multiple folders within the main project folder. Even worse when there are a hundred cryptically named P2 mxf files.
Try this:
Open the *.prproj file in Notepad and do an "Edit" "Find" for the word: filepath
Keep searching down till you get a drive letter.
This will show the original drive letter the project was last saved with.
To save time, and avoid relinking everything, do one of the following two... your choice:
1.) Do a find and replace in Notepad of a short "phrase" of code containing the original drive letter, in the document. Replace it with the identical phrase containing the currently assigned drive letter.
For Example:
Find: <FilePath>E:\
Replace With: <FilePath>G:\
OR:
2.) After noting the original drive letter in the *.prproj file by doing the "filepath" search in Notepad, simply assign the original drive letter back to the drive in "Computer Management"/"Storage"/Disk Management.
*WARNING: Premiere is unforgiving of even the slightest error in a *.prproj file.
ALWAYS EDIT A COPY OF YOUR PROJECT IN NOTEPAD

Dreamweaver templates and relative file paths
It seems on occasion - especially with the embed tag - a
relative file path in the dwt file becomes an absolute file path in
the file it makes. The worst thing is that it doesnt happen
consistently, Ive created 4 files from a template and now all of a
sudden when i make a new one the path doesnt update. I'm also using
coldfusion with these tags which could be the problem. Either way I
dont want to have to reedit every page with notepad. Heres my code
template code:
<object

allowscriptaccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
pluginspage="

/> </cfoutput>
</object>
code rendered from template:

/> </cfoutput>
</object>
on a side note, in the object param tag when using the output
tags inside the quotation marks of the value it turns all non
alphanumeric characters into ascii
any help on either problem will be much appreciatedWhe you spawn the child page from the template, you will see
ALL of the
links look like that until you save the page. Once you save
it, DW knows
how to adjust the links so that they remain relative to the
saved document.

Common URL format for sharing file paths between Mac and Windows?
Hi -
I have to integrate several Macs into a Windows environment. We need to be able to copy and paste file paths to share between all machines. Is there a common URL format that can be used between the platforms?
On Windows, I have:
\\server\share\file
On the Mac:
smb://server/share/file
Thank you for your help,
SteveOn Windows you have what is known as a "UNC".
On the Mac, you have a "URL". It starts with the protocol to use "smb" then gives the path to the item using standard conventions.
UNC is Microsoft mainly.
The only way I know for Windows to use a URL is with an application like a web browser or ftp client.
On the Mac, you can use UNCs but they must be modified as follows.
In Terminal:
smbclient \\\\servername\\sharename\\filename -U username
And enter a password if prompted.
Notice that you must double up the slashes. This is due to how UNIX shells treat the backslash.
You will connect to the share, but it will only be in Terminal. -
CS3 Templates managing relative file paths in AC_FL_RunContent
Hi,
If I insert a Flash media resource (e.g. a .swf file) into a template, Dreamweaver CS3 inserts two sections of HTML into the template to display the resource; a <script> section and a <noscript> section. Then if I create a number of HTML files from the template which are stored in sub-folders which have different relative file paths to the resource from the template, then when DW builds the HTML files from the template, it correctly edits the relative file paths in the <noscript> section but does not correctly edit the relative file paths in the <script> section. So the resource does not display in browsers which have javascript enabled for the files which have different relative file paths from the resource.
Is there a solution for this that I can use with my CS3 other than: (a) manually editing the code by hand outside of DW; or (b) upgrade to CS4 or CS5; or (c) have multiple copies of the resource in different locations with the correct relative file paths from the HTML files.
I have read something about Edit > Preferences > Code Rewriting > uncheck the Active Content preferences but I do not know if that is in a different version of Dreamweaver because my CS3 version does not appear to have that.
Thanks,
-A Novice.Oh, BTW, I forgot to say, I/we cannot use site-relative file paths because this question is posted on behalf of a school where the kids are taught to use DW to create web-sites but the sites are not actually ever published to any web servers. The sites are only ever viewed by previewing the site in DW or by double-clicking on the index.html page from Windows Explorer. And because the kids are not being taught how to hand-code HTML (or how to hand-code anything come to that), editing the HTML by hand is not a solution. Really, we need a solution where DW will do it automatically and properly (without spending money on upgrading to CS4 or CS5 (if possible).
Thanks again,

What is a Logical and Physical file path in sap?
what is a Logical and Physical file path in sap?
Hi,
Physical file is what you see from the OS level.
Logical file is what ABAP code can call certain functions to read/write.
Transaction FILE would link them together. Typically the logical path ends with "<FILENAME>", and the logical file refers to the logical path.
To extract the physical path from the logical path name
DATA: lf_mandt TYPE sy-mandt,
lf_opsys TYPE sy-opsys.
lf_mandt = sy-mandt.
lf_opsys = sy-opsys.
To extract the physical path from the logical path name
CALL FUNCTION 'FILE_GET_NAME'
EXPORTING
client = lf_mandt
logical_filename = p_unix
operating_system = lf_opsys
IMPORTING
file_name = gwa_input
EXCEPTIONS
file_not_found = 1
OTHERS = 2.
IF sy-subrc EQ 0.
Concatenating the physical path and the input unix file name
CONCATENATE gwa_input p_file INTO gf_file .
ENDIF.
Reward if helpful.

Logical and physical file paths
Hi,
can anyone elobrate me on what are logical and physical file
paths ?hi,
Follow this link
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/fc/eb3deb358411d1829f0000e829fbfe/frameset.htm
File format determination (Required / optional fields and field checks).
Logical File Path configuration through transaction 'FILE'. A new physical file path should be created on operating system level or an existing one can be used if agreed. The Basis team member should create a new file path at operating system level, if required.
Hope this helps, Do reward. -
How do I port my Windows Word, Excel, and Powerpoint files to the MAC? What software is needed on the MAC to use them? Thanks.
You can certainly use iWork, though I hesitate to recommend it to a seasoned Windows user simply because it would add another level of the unfamiliar with which you would have to gain familiarity. The iWork applications are certainly very competent and in most respects both easy to use and surprisingly powerful. They are not 100% compatible however, though that typically manifests itself in document formatting issues rather than anything more significant.
I have never attempted to import emails from a Windows system into MacOS - other than in Outlook connected to an Exchange server, thus not really an issue at all. I doubt that the Mail app in MacOS can import directly, but of course you could always set the account(s) up on the Mac and then forward emails you want to keep from the PC. Not elegant, but it works. Virtually any Windows document or file, whichever application created it, can be opened or converted for use on a Mac, and using both systems on my desk each day I rarely see any issues switching stuff from one machine to the other. You may stumble over one or two issues, but likely not significant.
In switching platforms there will be some inevitable issues, not so much with being able to import your stuff because there's usually a workaround or a utility that can help, but just with getting familiar with the platform and the differences between Windows and MacOS that can obscure their similarities. From time to time the support community here hears from a user who has found the migration very problematic and regrets it, but for the most part the phrase 'I should have done this years ago...' is rather more prevalent! -
I'm not able to copy and paste files from my mac to hard disk and usb. I have tried dragging the items I want to copy to those devices but it won't work. I also have tried copying and pasting those files onto those devices too but that doesn't work too. Can any one help?
Hi BobRz
Thanks for you suggestion but it didn't work - are there other ways for solving this problem? Or is it because my files that I want to copy and paste onto my hard disk etc are too big? (However there is space on my hard disk and it works on a PC) -
i have a windows 7 desktop with an external hard drive setup on my home network, will i be able to access this on my home network to save and retrieve files from my mac air?

Diff between logical and physical file path
Hi ,
Could you please explain difference between logical and physical file path's and their importance in ABAP.
Thanks and regards,
shylaHi
The function module FILE_GET_NAME convert a logical path into its corresponding physical path.
The advantage of using logical pathes within your applications is obivous:
If you need to change the physical path you just adjust it within transaction FILE yet no changes are required to your application.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005vp/helpdata/en/25/ab3a57df3b11d189fc0000e829fbbd/frameset.htm
The file names that you use in ABAP statements for processing files are physical names. This means that they must be syntactically correct filenames for the operating system under which your R/3 System is running. Once you have created a file from an ABAP program with a particular name and path, you can find the same file using the same name and path at operating system level.
Since the naming conventions for files and paths differ from operating system to operating system, ABAP programs are only portable from one operating system to another if you use the tools described below.
To make programs portable, the R/3 System has a concept of logical filenames and paths. These are linked to physical files and paths. The links are created in special tables, which you can maintain according to your own requirements. In an ABAP program, you can then use the function module FILE_GET_NAME to generate a physical filename from a logical one.
Maintaining platform-independent filenames is part of Customizing. For a full description, choose Tools ® Business Engineer ® Customizing, followed by
Implement. projects ® SAP Reference IMG. On the next screen, choose Basis Components System Administration ® Platform-independent File Names.
For a more detailed description of the function module FILE_GET_NAME, enter its name on the initial screen of the Function Builder and choose Goto Documentation. On the next screen, choose Function module doc.
Another way of maintaining platform-independent filenames is to use the Transaction FILE. The following sections provide an overview of the transaction.
To create a logical filename, choose Logical filename definition, client-independent from the Navigation group box in Transaction FILE, then choose New entries. You define logical filenames
You can either define a logical filename and link it to a logical path (as displayed here), or you can enter the full physical filename in the Physical file field. In the latter case, the logical filename is only valid for one operating system. The rules for entering the complete physical filename are the same as for the definition of the physical path for the logical file. To display further information and a list of reserved words, choose Help.
If you link a logical path to a logical file, the logical file is valid for all syntax groups that have been maintained for that logical path. The filename specified under Physical file replaces the reserved word in the physical paths that are assigned to the logical path. To make the name independent of the operating system, use names that begin with a letter, contain up to 8 letters, and do not contain special characters.
Save your changes. -

ShambhuThe functionality that you require is not available to VBA/COM - it is only exposed via C/C++.
However, you could retrieve the ENTIRE page image to the clipboard and then use whatever VB/VBA methods you choose to grab a section of the image.
Of course, this all assumes that Adobe Acrobat is installed on each person's computer that will be using the solution since Reader does not have the necessary APIs and Acrobat can't be installed on a server. -
Backup DB with dynamic sql - want to substitute in dbname and disk file path
Re: Backup DB with dynamic sql - want to substitute in dbname and disk file path
Hope I can explain this. Below is a small snippet of code. I want to set @SQLTemplate_TSQL once at the top of the script and then execute the SET @SQLCommand and sp_executesql in a loop that reads a list of databases. It all works, except for the
BACKUP DATABASE. Right now it evaluates when the SET @SQLTemplate_TSQL is evaluated. I want it to evaluate when it is executed. I want the DB_NAME() of the USE @dbname.
-- change @dbname and @dbbackuppath
DECLARE @SQLCommand NVARCHAR(MAX)
DECLARE @SQLTemplate_TSQL NVARCHAR(MAX)
DECLARE @dbname varchar(128) = 'Bank04'
-- one time setting of @SQLTemplate_TSQL
set @SQLTemplate_TSQL =
DECLARE @dbbackuppath varchar(128) = ''''d:\backups''''
IF RIGHT(@dbbackuppath, 1) <> ''''\''''
SET @dbbackuppath = @dbbackuppath + ''''\''''
SET @dbbackuppath = @dbbackuppath + DB_Name() + ''''.bak''''
PRINT @dbbackuppath
BACKUP DATABASE ' + DB_NAME() + ' to DISK=''' + QUOTENAME(@dbbackuppath, CHAR(39)) + '''
-- Execute this several times over different databases
SET @SQLCommand = '
USE ' + QUOTENAME(@dbname) + ';
EXEC(''' + @SQLTemplate_TSQL + ''') '
PRINT @SQLCommand
EXECUTE sp_executesql @SQLCommandHere is a stripped down version of my code. Someone writes a script. I then take the script and seperate it by GO statement block. Each GO block gets its own row into the
#SQLTemplate_TSQL. I then replace single quote with 4 quotes and run it. Then I run against my list of databases. I am unable to get the BACKUP DATA base to work with this model.
Run scripts against multiple databases.sql
Do a FIND on "CHANGE THIS" to see the databases returned from the SELECT statement

How do you play MPG and WMV files on a MAC?
I am no longer able to play MPG and WMV files on my MAC. I have Flip4MAC, which is I think what I used to use to play them (but not sure). All I know is that I used to be able to before but now they won't play. Do I need some sort of different software or has Microsoft started making these files in a way that won't allow MAC users to play them? If anyone is kind enough to help, please explain in the most basic terms as I'm not that computer literate.
If the .mpg/.mpeg files are non-rights-protected you should be able to play them in Quicktime or iTunes. If the wmv files are non-rights-protected you should be able to use Flip4Mac. If the mpg/mpeg or wmv files are rights-protected you'll need the software or subscription that allows you to view copyrighted files.

How to play AVI and MKV files on a Mac?
First let me say I'm converting to mac soon. Hence these questions.
I know VLC player can play AVI and MKV files on a Mac. But I want to use DivX Plus Player cause it has a prettier user interface. Does DivX Plus Player play all AVI and MKV files on a Mac?
Does Perian still work on the latest version of Mountain Lion?
Does converting AVI and MKV files to MP4 using the free software Handbrake cause severe loss of quality?
Does an App exist on the Mac App Store that can play AVI and MKV files?
Thank you.VideoLAN - Download official VLC media player for Mac OS X
