  • Why does my mini display port to hdmi adapter cut out intermittently?

I have a MacBook Air 2012. Using a bestbuy mini display port to hdmi adapter connecting to a sony led tv.  The picture and sound transmits to the tv, but the signal would cut out after 10-15 seconds and it would last about 3-5 seconds and then the picture would come back again.

to me something happened similar to me but after removing the connector and put it back was solved, and now to use it with my TV I have to make sure both are well connected to both the Mac and plug the HDMI cable and adapter tv .
I hope that solves your problems resolved as mine
    Blessings.
    Bendiciones.

Anyone else had the same problem?, wich adapter recommend apple for this?
    Thx!!!

Oh... well has more possiblities that the problem is in the adapter and not in the mbp (i hope so)

    Google translate:
More than a month I have in my hands a Mac Mini Late 2014. I am very happy with the purchase, is not it a bullet at the beginning a little less, say I should have caught with Fusion Drive, but no regrets. In video editing goes well with Final Cut, not great, but better with Adobe Premiere Pro.
After the praise comes my big complaint. Since I had bought a Mac Mini, I decided to buy a Full HD, I2367FM AOC monitor, which has two HDMI and VGA connections. After connecting the Mac Mini HDMI to AOC, I noticed that the colors and sharpness, left much to be desired. I am owner of a Macbook Air 2014 and I know of what I speak. After much tinkering, I managed to make colors nailed to my Air, but no sharpness, which causes the letters give a feeling of being slightly smudged and some icons sawtooth be appreciable. Desperate, bought a Mini Displayport adapter -> HDMI, the result was exactly the same. I can not believe that having a FULL HD monitor results are lower than those offered me the LCD screen of my Air.
In short, do not know what to do to get the sharpness which is supposed to get a FULL HD screen and a brand new Mac Mini.
    I hope your answers,
Have you tried changing the setting on the monitor? Is there a sharpness or similar settings?

  • Mini DVI to Video Adapter - S-Video Resolutions / HDMI

    Hello,
I just got my Mini DVI to Video Adapter and I using a S-Video cable to plug to my HD LCD 32'' TV.
When I connect everything, the resolution drops from 1280x800 to 1024x768.
How can I change back to 1280x800?
I don't know but I'm kind of disappointed with the QUALITY of the video... is there any way I could improve this? Perhaps using a Mini-DVI to HDMI Adapter? Does it exist? Will upgrade the resolution and/or the quality of the video?
I've read that audio is not supported using the Mini-DVI. To be honest, I don't really care about the audio... I can use the analog. But I'm very very disappointed with the quality of the video...
    Thanks anyone

    Well,
Based on what you said, I should have three options:
A: MacBook -> MiniDVI to DVI Adapter -> DVI to HDMI cable -> TV with HDMI input
C: MacBook -> MiniDVI to DVI Adapter -> DVI to DVI cable -> TV with DVI input
B: MacBook -> MiniDVI to HDMI Adapter -> HDMI cable -> TV with HDMI input
    What should work best?
My TV does not support DVI input, so that's kind of narrow it down, right?! Leaving options A and C.
I don't have any of the adapters. In both ways I'll end up having to buy stuff. Which is less expansive?
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers.

  • HDMI Output not work on Encore Tablet

    Hi guys,
First post and a new user of the Toshiba Encore.
Some background - I had a faulty Encore previously, but it would connect to my HDMI screen. The replacement, now 3 weeks old, works perfectly, except yesterday I tried HDMI out for sound (to an HDMI amplifier) but nothing. And then I decided to see if it would do HDMI out video - and nothing.
I plugged in the same cable that worked on the faulty tablet and to the same screen. I hit the devices charm and duplicated (and even tried extending) the screen. Nothing. I tried both HDMI ports on the screen. Nothing.
The last (faulty) tablet would make the sound that a new device was installed when I plugged HDMI in. This one makes no sounds. It's like the HDMI port isn't connected at all.
What advice would you give? I have downloaded all BIOS and Windows updates. I used the Intel update tool and everything is current. So what could I try to troubleshoot to get this to go?
Will happily provide more info if needed.
    Cheers

This HDMI connection still does not work. It only shows on the TV not on both. I have spoken to Toshiba Software and they have a fix which are some special tools at a one off charge of £84. They say the problem is to do with the HDMI only sending at 30 Hz and the TV being at 60Hz. They also say the fix will provide mirroring as the resolution of the TV and Encore are not compatible. As I only paid £177 for Encore I am reluctant to pay such a high amount. They also advised that you must be connected with the mains adaptor because the battery is not powerful enough to sustain the signal. My laptop works fine and I have a new HDMI cable for Encore.
    Any further thoughts?

  • How to connect my Satellite C650 to TV with HDMI cable?

Connecting my laptop with my television??
I have Satelite C650 laptop which isnt that old, but ive connected my laptop to the television using a HDMI cable and it isnt working.
The television is a samsung 1080p one, i would be grateful for some advice.
    Many thanks
    Claire

    Hello Claire
I presume you use your notebook with original preinstalled OS that you got with your notebook so it should work without problems.
Connect your notebook to the TV with HDMI cable. If your TV has several HDMI ports please enable right port on TV and after doing this use FN+F5 key combination to switch from notebook to the TV.
When you use FN+F5 key combination can you see several options including HDMI option?

  • How to connect my loptop to my tv using hdmi

how do i connect my loptop to my tv using hdmi i have it hooked up but how do i get tv to identify my computer

Try this: Connecting Notebook to TV with HDMINote that the Computer should be Shut Down when the HDMI cable is connected.Turn off both the computer and the TV.Connect the HDMI cable to the computer and TV.Switch on the TV.  Adjust the TV settings to receive HDMI audio.Boot the computer to allow it to detect the connection to the TV.Start > Control Panel > icon view >Sound >Playback tab > Select HDMI as Default Device > OK If it doesn’t “take” the first time, REPEAT one or more times. I hope this helps.Say “Thanks!” by clicking Kudos Star in the Post that helped you.Mark a Post “Accepted Solution” to say your issue is solved.

  • Does the mini DVI port cary audio if using a Mini-DVI to HDMI Adapter?

    Hello everyone,
I've heard it is possible for a DVI port to transmit audio data to a HDMI connection if a DVI to HDMI cable is used, which will allow the sending of both audio and video to your TV. see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DigitalVisualInterface
I'm assuming this is not possible using apples mini DVI port, but just wanted to check to make sure. My main goal is to get surround sound out of my powerbook. To do this by simply adding a Mini-DVI to HDMI Adapter would be GREAT!

    Hi Jonathan,
I'm assuming this is not possible using apples mini DVI port
Yup, no audio, unfortunately. The audio will have to transmitted separately via the analog audio output.

  • Help with sound to LCD TV when using HDMI

I would love any assistance with a problem I am having. I have a new mac mini with a 40" Proscan LCD. I am using a mini-DVI to HDMI adapter and am getting great video - 1080. My issue is that via Keynote I need to get sound to the LCD TV. It is coming through the mini speaker - what do I need to do to get the sound over to the TV? Any assistance would be appreciated!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
The user guide which came with your TV should cover the issue in the different connections available for your unit.
DVI is video only. HDMI is audio and video. If you are using an adapter to connect DVI to HDMI there is no audio because of this. So to connect a Mac mini with a DVI to HDMI adapter you will also need an audio cable to run the audio from the mini's audio outport to an audio inport on the TV. This is why I refer you to the user guide for your unit, because it should point out the correct port to use on the TV, as well as point out if you have options for using analog or digital audio. The mini's audio ports can do both.

  • My macbook pro no longer connects to my TV with the mini dvi to hdmi adapter. A while ago the computer fell down and hit the cable. How can I tell if the computer is working ok. Doesn't show mirroring any more.

My macbook pro no longer connects to my TV with the mini dvi to hdmi adapter. A while ago the computer fell down and hit the cable. How can I tell if the computer is working ok. Doesn't show mirroring any more. Was working while watching a movie but when I pulled it out from the computer and put it back in the system would no longer mirrorr the screen on the TV.

The best option is an appointment at an Apple store genius bar.  The evaluation will be for FREE!
    Ciao.

  • Cannot Connect Imac 24" via mini dvi to HDMi adapter cable to Sony Bravia 3

    Hello Everyone,
I'm having the worst time in trying to connect the following:
    1. Imac 24" 3.06 dual with dvi connection
    2. Mini dvi to HDMI adapter (this mac with this connection was produced only for a short while!).
    3. 10' (foor) HDMI wire
    3. Sony Bravia 32" model KDL32L-5000 with 3 HDML connections
i.When I wire everything up, I keep getting"no signal" on my Sony Bravia TV.
ii. It doesn't matter whether I connect the HDMI wire to HDMI 1,2, or 3 on my Sony
iii. On my Imac Hard Drive>>Applications>>System Preferences>>Displays
all I get is a list of different resolutions. There is no mention or mirrors etc.
Nothing happens when I press "Gather Windows" or Detect Displays"
Can someone out there please help!!!!!
Can you also give any solution in very simple and small detailed steps!
    Thanks,
    Stacey Bindman

Majortrout, there is a major disconnect going on here.
    1. You are showing an Ebay link with a mini-DVI to HDMI adapter.
    2. You report that you have an Early '09 24" iMac.
    3. That iMac does not have a mini-DVI port. That iMac has a mini-DispayPort.
    4. You need a mini-DisplayPort to HDMI adapter.
It is physically impossible to attach the adapter to which you link at Ebay to your iMac. So you need to take a step back and figure out what you really have; which iMac, which adapter, etc.
