I would like to add a new attribute to the membership.xml, what can i do to create the new attribute in the directory server and then add it to the form of autoregister?

Can you restore your DAI service by restoring LDAP entries with ums.xml or umsExisting.xml files. One of them should be backed up before modification. If you didn't, then you can restore it from another installation.
Follow the steps:
0) Delete Membership using amadmin -r Membership
1) Restore old file Membership: amadmin -s <file.xml>
2) Delete DAI Service entries
3) use amadmin -s ums.xml or umsExisting.xml to populate entries under DAI branch
4) restart the service (web srv: stop && start; appsrv: asadmin stop-appserv && asadmin start-appserv)
Try to login again and to create a new account.
It should work.

You cannot add custom fields and do provision or recon for it.I have opened the SR with Oracle and this facility will be available in 9.1. which is launching after 4 months.You need to request the source code and modify it to get the custom fields.

Add a new attribute to a user

I would like to add a new att to an user, that is i would like to have more atts in a user, but these atts aren�t in the inetusergroup, so do you know how to add more attributes to an user? I would like to add for example the att yuuuuuuu but i can add it,. I must create a class that descend for inetgroupuser and add the att, that is easy but the problem is how i do to recognize that for identity server at the time of register.

The best approch to add new set of attributes are define a custom object class which is extended from the inetorggroup. Add that class in to the Directory Server instance.
After that the custom object class and it's naming attribute and other attributes you update in the ums.xml.
Once updatation is done, drop the DAI Sevcie and load it again to make these changes effective.

I tried to add an attribute using transaction VEB1, but there is no attribute in the list that gives me the amount. Does anyone know how to handle that?

To add a attribute in a char:
1) Go to info object/char in change mode and add the additional attribute you want and select navigational attribute in attribute tab if you want. (Create these additional attribute first in info object catalouge)
2) Activate the Object/Char
3) open info cube in change mode and pick the characteristic from left panel to info cube dimension.
4) Activate infocube.
5) Go to multi provider add the char in one of the dimension and do identification for this char and activate.

How to add new attribute as descrition to 0Material infoobject?

I am trying to add a new attribute to 0MATERIAL. The new attribute called Z_DESC which will be displayed as Material Description.
My problem is how can I get Material long description show on this new added attribute. Since the master data load from different datasource: Attribute, Text, and Hierachy, how can I get text to show on attribute?
I looked up on 0MATERIAL_ATTRIBUTE datasource there is no field NAME or DESCRIPTION but there is long description on 0MATERIAL_TEXT. Should any have idea how to get text show on added new attribute?

How was the symptom and how the Message no. RSDMD217 show?
If you have encounter the problem as mine: I added new attibutes to I/O 0MATERIAL and then tried to load the data to I/O 0MATERIAL again, it shows error message Message no. RSDMD217 and I cannot be able to see the data on new added attributes.
I checked on PSA and found some records didn't sound right such as on material code column is filled with text so I use T Code RSRV to check the consistency of the I/O. It shows an errors as
Characters are not allowed in characteristic values (characteristic 0MATERIAL).
So I click on Correct Error Tab and try to reload again. It works.

You can use LDIFDE command from to export the schema attributes to <filename>.ldf (can be edited using notepad) as given below,
ldifde -f c:\<filenmae>.ldf -d "cn=schema,cn=configuration,dc=<mydomain>,dc=<com>"

for that i modified the VO and added my attributes and by personalization wanted to add a new column to that ...but its not happening......

Coming to your specific question, by new attributes do you mean new technologies being listed in the list of values ?
If so, yes you can add them (though there will be a standard warning message from SAP) in the view tables version of the following tables, from SM30.

Addition of New Attributes to existing Infoobject

Hi all,
I need to add new Attributes to an InfoObject,
which is already in Prod Env for my next release.
Can I add the new attributes in Dev and Transport the same to Prod without deleting the Data in the InfoObject in the Prod. env? we don't have option to get the data back if it gets deactivated, when transporting the New attributes to Prod as it is live and used in reporting..
Please suggest me the best way to do that and some important points to consider when dealing with the above scenarios.

Hi,
You can add new attributes for the existing object and it will not be a problem to teh data.
since you are doing it in dev you can even follow the below method.
Create a new infoobject in dev with same attributes of the existing object and load data to the newly created object. Add attributes to the existing one and load back the data from the newly created object. Check out this. It will let you ensure about the data.(Assuming that the infoobject is master data object)

New Attribute

I have an Infoobject where I need to add a new attribute. This Infoobject is used in a Cube and a Multiprovider.
Also I have to pull data from another table in SAP to populate this field.
What are the steps involved in this. Do I have to modify all the queries which has the infoobject to reflect this change ?

Hi,
You have to add this field to the extract structure's append structure.
If there is a user exit already for the datasource,u will have to modify it to populate the data for the new field.
In the user-exit use the R/3 table to derive the new field's value.

You must start from defining the new Attribute in an exisiting or new Set Type. Use transaction code COMM_ATTRSET. Once you have the attribute / attribute set defined, you can assign this to your catalog - in the header data as the Basic characteristic List.

See catalog/ProductDetailISA.jsp for tips - search for catalog.isa.attribute. The catalog item WebCatItem has all the details available already.

How to add new attributes to HardgoodShippingGroup

I added new fields to the user's home address using this item-descriptor:
<item-descriptor name="contactInfo" >in the userProfile.xml file. This fields were automatically added to ACC and they can be invoked in the code by using RegistrationFormHandler.value.homeAddress.newField without needed to change anything in the java classes.
To add the new fields to ShippingAddress I've changed the orderrepository.xml file using the following item-descriptor:

Added new attribute to WBS

Here is my current issue.
I added a "deleted indicator" to the WBS_ELEMT_ATTR on r/3, then created a new infoobject in BW (did not flag it w/master data) and added this new infoobject as a navigational attribute to the WBS_ELEMT infoobject in BW.
Went to the infosource for WBS_ELEMT and added it to the transfer structure and the comm. structure. Activated it. Then reloaded the master data for WBS from r/3. Went to "Maintain Master Data" for WBS_ELEMT and I can see the new field is populated correctly in the new field I added to WBS_ELEMT.
Then I went to the cube 0PS_C04 and marked the new attribute I added to WBS_EMEMT as a navigation attribute and re-activated it and the update rules.
The problem is in the query and when viewing data with list cube or cube contents the field is blank. But its not blank with maintain master data for WBS_ELEMT.
Does anyone have any clues as to my mistake or what I need to do. I'm needing to restrict a query based on 0PS_C04 by this new attribute I added to WBS.

Hey Richard,
WBS_ELEMT is a navigational attribute in 0PS_C04 and "deleted indicator" is a navigational attribute of WBS_ELEMT. So, "deleted indicator" is a second level navigation attribute for 0PS_C04. This will not show you any data in the query even if you can see the data for this field in WBS_ELEMENT. One more thing is that in the update rules for 0PS_C04, you have mapped only WBS_ELEMENT but not "deleted indicator". Hence, the data is not displayed in the report.
You can handle this in 2 different ways.
1. Add "deleted indicator" to the cube directly and map it all the way down to the data source.
2. Add the "deleted indicator" to the cube and in the update rules, map it as an attribute of WBS_ELEMENT.
Unless it is mapped to the cube from the comm structure in the update rules, you can not see the data in the report. Try one of these and let us know if it works.

Adding new attribute to Master data - Not present in ECC

Hi,
We want to add a new field in the master data object 0plant. the new field is not present in the R/3 side. So we are planning to maintain it manually.
Is it feasible? Can someone explain how to approach the situation?
Since it is not going to come in Process chain or any of the mappings below InfoObject will the process chains work properly?

if you cant impliment any logic you cam maintani it mannually.
First add attribute to master data object and activate.
Do master data load if required.
Then right click on materdata addtribute and manage -> content tab -> Content
display complete data and you can maintain attribute values individually for all ercords one by one (will be pain even for 100 records).
another alternative is of doing file upload for this attribute.
