Add Ability to Sync Connections via Microsoft Account?

Would you please consider being able to sync my connections between computers via Microsoft Account? This would help so much when I switch to a laptop or other computer. Thanks!

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback.
However, you can save your connections as .rdp files and sync them via OneDrive.

  • Iphone 3G - Calendar sync issue via Microsoft Exchange

I have my iphone sync fine with mail and contacts via Microsoft Exchange with my work PC outlook, but can not get the calendar to sync. I upgraded to Microsoft 2007 and it sync once (possibly after accepting a meeting invite), but then no updates. I have turned calendars off and on and lost all entries. I do get meeting invites though, but they too disappear.
    Any ideas?

Onicabbit has nailed this one. It has to do with appointments not having an end or start date or having a length of 0 minutes. Track those in outlook (use the category view and make sure you have no filter on which could obscure a few nasty ones), fix the dates and duration (open the meeting or event and add or change one of the dates) and the sync should work.

  • Cannot connect with microsoft account

When I want to connect to my skype account I get blank page and it only says ''This page contains errors''.
I'm using Windows XP operating system
    Internet browser is Firefox
Tried to uninstall and re.install and still nothing.
Please help,on my laptop with Vista works fine.

What is the version of Internet Explorer installed on your computer?
In Internet Explorer go to Help -> About Internet Explorer.
P.S. Please, don’t say that you are not using Internet Explorer. This is irrelevant. Skype depends on Internet Explorer.

  • How to add ability to insert Annotations via Reader to an existing PDF form

I have an existing PDF form created in LiveCycle ES2/Acrobat X, with fillable text boxes and all that stuff.  I want to add the ability for Reader users to insert items from the Annotations menu, but can't seem to figure out how to add that permission.  When I look at the Document Restrictions Summary in the PDF properties, it has "Commenting: Not Allowed".
So how can I keep the existing form working as is, but add the ability for anyone to insert Annotations through Reader?

    You have two choices
    1) You can use JavaScript in your AIR application to communicate with the JavaScript in the PDF to fill in the form directly. This can all be done inside of your AIR app. This is certainly the best route to go and there is (IIRC) a sample in the AIR SDK.
    2) You can create an XFDF file from your XML data and then have Acrobat/Reader open the XFDF file to fill in the data.
Both methods will work with Acrobat and Reader - HOWEVER, Reader users won't be able to save the PDF unless it has been Reader Enabled.

  • Connect Microsoft Account to Multiple Domain Accounts

We are currently trialing windows 8.1 tablets in a school environment and would like for the students to have access to the 'Windows Store'
All students log in with a domain account. (Their own domain account)
All of these tablets are being imaged Via SCCM 2012 Task Sequence.
What I would like to see happen either during the SCCM TS or via GPO or some other method would be to have the same Microsoft account connected to anyone logging into these devices this way the student would never require the account credentials
and they would never be prompted to log into the store as well as be able to openly download and install free apps... I'll tackle the paid app issue separately...
    I would enable the GPO:
    computer configuration\windows settings\security settings\local policies\security options\'accounts: block Microsoft account'
so that they couldn't link any additional personal Microsoft accounts.
    thoughts?

    More update...
created the following script (autoit) to create the appropriate reg key entries to connect a Microsoft account to the current logged on user.
    #include <Security.au3>
    Local $aArrayOfData = _Security__LookupAccountName(@UserName)
    $SID = $aArrayOfData[0]

    RegWrite("HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\IdentityCRL\StoredIdentities\<Microsoft Live Account Name>\" & $SID, "LastName", "REG_SZ", "<Enter Applicable Value>")
I am applying this script on logon to the users so they all end up using the same account to access the store.
last challenge is to set it so they don't have to enter a password. where is the password stored?????

  • OneDrive Sync Settings with Domain Account Roaming Profile

This question seems to have been asked in various manners online including here at TechNet but it has never actually been answered that I can find.
Home domain using Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials, client is Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit with Update 1. Logged in as a domain user account with a Roaming Profile and Folder Redirection connected to a Microsoft Account.
Under PC Settings > OneDrive > Sync Settings, everything is greyed out and disabled. I wasn't too bothered about it previously however with Windows Phone 8.1 out now it means that I cannot use Tab Sync with Internet Explorer 11 on the phone.
I have a GPO which excludes the following folders from the Roaming Profile to both allow Folder Redirection to function and also to allow the OneDrive app to function: "Downloads;Pictures; My Pictures;Music; My Music;Videos; My Videos;Dropbox;SkyDrive;OneDrive"
I am using the Primary Computer attribute with a second GPO which limits profile redirection to the users primary computer.
When logging on to my Primary Computer with the Roaming Profile activated, all of the Sync Settings are disabled but on another machine which is non-primary and therefore my roaming profile does not sync, I can connect my Microsoft Account to the local
profile generated on this machine and all of the Sync Settings are available, clearly linked to the Roaming element of the profile.
Is the non-functionality of Sync Settings on domain accounts with Roaming Profiles by design or by virtue of the fact that things are trying to steer away from Roaming Profiles now? I love the Sync features but in that they don't sync everything (3rd party
Application Settings for example) there is a need for both features to exist in parallel.
There is a new section in Group Policy to limit the use of the Sync Settings features for Enterprises which wish to prevent users from using these features so I don't understand the reason for it to not function at all for anyone.

  • Switching or deleting microsoft account

I normally Skype on my android tab or ipod, but i decided to use a friends computer and accidentally connected their microsoft account to my Skype and I dont know how to remove it or change it. Help?

The only way out to delete your MS account is to hard reset the phone, and then log in with the new account, make sure you have taken backup of all the contacts & events and mind you, changing MS account  will not let you usse any purchased app on the earlier account, u will have to buy them again.
In the previous reply there is the process to hard reset the phone, also this may fix your photos issue.

  • The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete - Cant add Outlook accounts

Hi have recently started getting the following error message when setting up new accounts with Outlook 2007:
The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.
Outlook then prompts me to enter the username and password, i do so and get message again. This happens on Windows XP Professional and Vista, i cannot setup any accounts for new machines.
Points to note are that OWA works fine, and previous users who are already setup work fine also. It seems to be limited to setting up new Outlook 2007 accounts.
It can find the username fine. It comes up with green ticks underr the Online Search for your server settings:
    Establish Network connection
Search for [email protected] server settings
Long on to server ---------- then it fails with a big red cross at this point
Recently i did add a second mail server to the network but it was not configured to talk to the other main mail server which was handling all the functions of mail box, CAS, hub transport. I had installed all the same roles on the second server with a view to move it across and retire the old server, the second machine is a different machine name from the main mail server. In summay my servers are:
    svr001              Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 domain controller
    mail                 Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 non-domain controller with exchange 2007 SP1
    mail001            Windows 2008 Enterprise x64 non-domain controller with exchange 2007 SP1
The main box "mail" has been fine until i recently introduced this new server "mail001" into the network.
I am really stuck now and would really appreciate any pointers or steps to debug the above.
    Many thanks,
    Chris

    The FIX IT here
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=319206 works, but only for a user who's already logged in (if you just run the fix it program and do nothing else). To make it work for all users you'll need to manually edit the registry as it says in the article.
To force Outlook to use a pre-defined global catalog server, use the following steps to set the following special registry parameter to point to the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN). Doing this over-rides any setting in the MAPI profile.
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type regedit.exe, and then click
    OK.
Locate and then click the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Exchange Provider
Note You may have to create the registry path.
On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry value:
    Value name: DS Server
    Data type: REG_SZ (string)
Value data: FQDN of the global catalog server
This allowed me to roll out a bunch of laptops and not have to worry about running the Fix It for each user.
update: Sysprep seemed to remove fix. Each time a new user logged into a newly imaged laptop (on domain) same error about Outlook 2007 cannot connect to Exchange. Have tried just about everything, but all I seem to be able to do is run this stupid
Fix it each time. Luckily I don't have 1000 machines to setup because then I'd be screwed.

  • A suggestion for the mouse setting through persistence via SkyDrive/OneDrive: Add a check button to let the user tell if the mouse settings should be "restored" every time the user logs in a "different" computer using the same Microsoft Account.

Every time I log in one of my 2 computers with Microsoft Account, I have to change the main button (left/right) setting, because the settings persistence via SkyDrive/OneDrive.
I have different main mouse button settings in the computers.
Those settings shouldn't be changed, if the account is not a new one, after all, if the user has different settings in old accounts, it means there must be a reason to do it (because of hardware and/or furniture restriction).
Thus, a check button in the mouse settings' window that let the user tell if it should be changed or not would be welcomed.

  • Can't connect to Azure Win 8.1 Enterprise virtual computer via RDP with Microsoft Account but Local Account

    Hello Community,
I have Problems to connect to a virtual Computer on Windows Azure. But only when I host a Windows 8.1 Enterprise Computer in Azure. When I use a Windows Server 2012 R2 virtual Computer I can connect without Problems. Also when I use a Local Account on my
Windows 8.1 Enterprise Laptop at home with which I want to connect to the virtual computer, I can connect to the machine. But when I use a Microsoft Account on my Laptop it fails with "Authentification failure"
I hope anybody can help me. Thanks in advance :)

  • Why do I get error "The LDAP server is unavailable" while connecting to external domain via sync connection in SharePoint UPSA ?

    Hello,
I am trying to connect to external domain via UPS Account having "Replicate Directory changes" permission on external domain while creating sync connection in UPSA.
I have checked below URLS :
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/1912bf88-8fec-4b5d-9d1e-a42db8318e33/ldap-server-is-unavailable-sharepoint-2010-user-synchronization?forum=sharepointadminprevious

And looks like its network connectivity issue - and hence I have verified that port 389 is open by infra team.
Note : I am able to connect to local AD , does it make sense that port is not open for external domain ?
Can anyone please let me know what can be the issue ?
Your help will be highly appreciated as I am struggling to fix this issue since  quite long time but no luck yet.
    Thank you in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Dipti Chhatrapati

    Hi Dipti,
If you have Two-Way trust relationship then not sure if you have tried below:
Create a folder on the SharePoint server
Go to Folder properties - Security tab
Try adding user of the external domain on the folder
Please let us know if you are able to add the user or not. If you are able to add then it means that the connection and trust is proper and you should be able to create sync connection in UPA without any issues or else there is some issue with the connectivity
or the trust which is configured.
Please also make sure that you have given permissions to sync account as per below TechNet:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh296982(v=office.15).aspx
Replicate Directory changes permissions are also required on cn=configuration container, below are the steps:
Grant Replicate Directory Changes permission on the cn=configuration container
Use this procedure to grant Replicate Directory Changes permission on the cn=configuration container to an account.
To grant Replicate Directory Changes permission on the cn=configuration container
On the domain controller, click Start, click Run, type adsiedit.msc, and then click OK.
If the Configuration node is not already present, do the following:
In the navigation pane, click ADSI Edit.
On the Action menu, click Connect to.
In the Connection Point area of the Connection Settings dialog box, click Select
a well know Naming Context, select Configuration from the drop-down list, and then click OK.
Expand the Configuration node, right-click the CN=Configuration... node, and then click Properties.
In the Properties dialog box, click the Security tab.
In the Group or user names section, click Add.
Type the name of the synchronization account, and then click OK.
In the Group or user names section, select the synchronization account.
In the Permissions section, select the Allow check box next to the Replicating
Directory Changes (Replicate Directory Changes on Windows Server 2003) permission, and then click OK.

  • Urgent: how can I add gmail via microsoft exchange?

    Dear friends,
Please help to instruc me how to add gmail via Microsoft Exchange in system Mountain lion.
I already fill in all info probaly, but it does not work, keeps showing "the exchange server ...... is not responding." please help, thanks so mcuh.

All.  I too was hoping that I could set up osx mail using exchange so it is a real shame it doesn't work the same as iOS even in Mountain Lion and still not in 10.8.2 where some more platform unification updates where made but then if it is Google that have to supply the server / make available....
Anyway, My primary reason for wanting to do this was contact sync.  However, I now have contacts synced with OSX contacts following another thread you can search for.  It was as simple as going into preferences accounts in the contacts app and setting up the google account.  The same as selecting the default google type account in mail instead of exchange.
If mail is open, even minimised you will get mail notifications even using IMAP in the new OSX notification centre.  And with contacts google account set up you will see another sync icon next to the time capsule icon.
So now all is working on OSX.

  • Prob & Solution: Unable to make RDP connection using newly added Microsoft Account to win10 tech preview hosted on AzureVM

    Problem description:
After VM deployment is finished, remote desktop into the Windows 10 client OS with the created admin credentials
Open PC Settings -> Users and Accounts -> manage other users (this is the new UX not the old classic add user dialog)
Add a Microsoft account to the desktop, leave it as a standard user
    Log Out
Make RDP connection using login of DNSName\[email protected]
Note: DNSName = connection string you are using in RDP
[email protected] is whatever liveID you are using.
Problem: If it was working you will get a message that this user does not have access rights to remote desktop to the computer
Error: Unknown user or bad password is what I would get
    Solution:
Log back on as admin user with RDP
Using the new UX from " PC Settings -> Users and Accounts -> "  delete the recently created microsoft account
Create a local (not microsoft account) account where with the name that would be before the @ (i.e. user77)
Go to the Old user management interface (either the computer management MMC or the "System Properties->Remote" tab and give the created local user remote desktop access rights.
    Now log off as admin
Remote desktop and use username of DNSName\User77  (note no @outlook.com)
    Let the login process finish
Make sure any feedback questions are answered
Now navigate to the new UX using " PC Settings -> Users and Accounts -> " and link the local account with your Microsoft account.
You will have to authorize the microsoft account, typically with a text message + verification code
Wait 2 minutes (using a A1 size VM there seemed to be some background stuff for account linking)
    Log out
Now log in using DNSName\[email protected]
    Success!
I hope this helps anyone else who is using Azure VM's to test out Windows 10 client technical preview.

    Hi
We use a custom imagine and experience this quite alot.  Usually host name is missing and we have to redeploy.
Seems to have gotten worse as we add more vms.
Should we not sysprep when capturing a vm?
Orginal vm came from the gallary and we've simply resized os to 30gb.
Main role for our vms is job processing so stop deallocate when finish to keep costs down buts prooving to be more trooblesome that expected due vms dieing.
We have a number which we don't shut down which are problem free.  so I suspect the stop deallocate and self heal are still early days.
My monitor has reported issues with 40+ vms this evening.  Are there issues or updates going on in western europe?

  • IPad connected to Microsoft Live mail. Messages deleted in Live website do not sync and delete from iPad.

My iPad 3rd Gen running iOS 7. It is connected to Microsoft Live email, and I have it syncing 30 days of messages. I frequently use the outlook.com website to read and delete messages. When I look at my iPad inbox, the messages remain even though I have already deleted them in the website. This behaviour persists whether I am on Wi-Fi or cellular data.
Do I have a configuration set incorrectly, or is this a known issue with MS Live?

My experience is with hotmail not live mail, but might be something to look into. I had to go into the options of my hotmail and enable the ability for the device to update mail. Prior to that, I'd have to delete the same mail off my iPod and iPad, but after I enabled that I could delete off my iPod and have that reflected on my iPad.
So maybe poke around in the settings for live mail and see if there's a setting to allow your devices to delete from the server.

  • Connect MS account instantly fails 0xd0000022 "We're sorry but something went wrong. Your Microsoft account wasn't connected to this domain account"

First. I'll make another post about this but worth mentioning - the dialogue when opening Cortana then having to connect with a MS account is barely usable. The "Next" button is completely black so had to guess that was where to click. When I select
any other window or click outside the dialogue disappears until I hit the Start button, Windows Key or the Cortana/Search button. Makes it near impossible to say copy what is written there when something goes wrong...
Not that MS will care or do anything right?
Anyway. Domain account, no restrictions that I know of from that side (my home/test domain). Attempt to connect MS account and get below literally not even a second later, it's basically an instant failure with the message:
    So what now?

Nevermind, did have GPO there blocking it!
