Add Additional Tag in XML
Hi,
I am using PI 7.0 and sending proxy to soap scenario.
My external vendor is receiving my structure fine but complained that it does not have the following element

My structure is generating only the first one <XML Version>
How do i generate the doctype in my mapping.
Regards
Sam
Hi Sam,
If you add that, the output will no longer be XML. Doctype is used for defining dtd schemas.

Mark

Is it possible to add additional tags?
Is it possible to add additional tags to the finder? There are ten by default, and I know that I can edit them, but can I add an 11th, 12th, etc. tag? And if so, how?
You can add a new tag when saving a file. But I would like to add tag without first saving a new file and cannot find a way to do it. One would think in Finder there would be menu 'File->New Tag'.

Add xmlns tag to Xml file using DBMS_XMLGEN
I am using Oracle Release 10.1.0.4.2 version .
I want to create a xml file according to some data available in the relational database tables. For the same i created object types and then view with the object types since data is scattered in many tables.
Then i used DBMS_XMLGEN.getxml to generate the xml with query from the object view.
Is there an option to add xmlns attribute to the generated xml file.
Please let me know if any additional details are needed.If you want to add the namespace declaration in the root element, I don't think it's possible with DBMS_XMLGEN directly.
You can instruct DBMS_XMLGEN to treat some object fields as XML attributes by prefixing them with "@" (e.g. "@my_attribute") but you cannot control that for enclosing elements.
A possible solution is to add it afterwards using XSLT, or insertChildXML, but apparently the latter is not available in your version.
However...
For the same i created object types and then view with the object types since data is scattered in many tables.Since the data comes from different tables, why not use SQL and SQL/XML functions to build the document?
It's straightforward, simple, and doesn't need additional objects.

Add XML Tag to XML File (Idoc to XML File)
Hi there.
Just a question regarding the addition of a tag header in an XML file please?
Idoc - > XI -> file (XML File)
We have a need to add something like this below in bold to XML Tag Header in the inbound file:

<?POSTEN SND="SE03220037090" SNDKVAL="1" REC="SE03220669500"
MSGTYPE="ORDERS"?>
Any ideas on how this can be managed would be apreciated please?
Thank you.
Mick.Hi Carlos.
Thanks for your reply. I like what you are suggesting, however, I have no knowledge of Java and how to implement this Java addition to the mapping interface.
I would appreciate any hints you may have. The value that I am trying to add to the tag header is exactly as it is below(the value in bold) and it can in fact be fixed, i.e. I am not looking to dynamically determine the values in the additional tag but just add the value as it is below...

<?POSTEN SND="SE03220037090" SNDKVAL="1" REC="SE03220669500"
MSGTYPE="ORDERS"?>
I would appreciate any input from you on that.
Thanks in advance Carlos.

Add a tag and value to an XML document
Hi there,
Is it possible, indeed are there any functions that would help me, to add a tag onto an XML document that has been already created without having to use XSLT?
Perhaps someone could advise a function?The only way in 9.2 is to use DBMS_XMLDOM package or to recreate the entire parent node and use updateXML(). 10g have some new features that are behind an event that allow these operations to be done directly in SQL.

How to add b tags in your XML when changing style to Bold
I'm currently checking if there is an easier way to automatically add tags when changing font style to Bold in your xml. I'm not sure how to override the format of a structured application automatically in FM. Do I need to create a script for this? Or is there any configuration that can be made to make this work automatically?
Most of the discussion on this thread has dealt with the relevance of the Bold button on FrameMaker's Text Formatting toolbar to structured documents.
While someone made the suggestion to create a element and then insert text within the new element, I don't think anyone has yet commented on how easy it is to wrap an element ( or another element) around existing content. You can do so with the Element Catalog. Simply select the content to be wrapped and double-click the tag of the new element (e.g., b) in the Element Catalog. Or click the tag in the Element Catalog and then the Wrap button at the bottom of the Catalog.
If you prefer to use the keyboard, you can use what is called Smart Insert in FM 11 and quick keys in earlier versions. The first three buttons at the bottom of the Element Catalog window are Insert, Wrap, and Change. You don't need to have the Catalog open to use Smart Insert. I mentioned the buttons only because that order is pretty easy to remember--1. Insert, 2. Wrap, 3. Change. The keyboard shortcuts Ctrl-1, Ctrl-2, and Ctrl-3 bring up the Smart Insert or Quick Keys to Insert, Wrap, or Change an element. With Smart Insert, a pop-up menu appears that shows the available elements. You can use the up and down arrow keys to navigate to the one you want, or type a unique prefix. Then press Enter to perform the operation (or Esc to cancel). With Quick Keys, the left side of the status bar at the bottom of the document window or Structure View (whichever is current) will prompt for the element tag with I: for Insert, W: for Wrap or C: for Change. Again, use the arrow keys or a prefix to display the desired element tag and then press Enter.
So, to create a new element to hold an existing string, select the string, type Ctrl-2 b, and press Enter.
That said, I will close with an observation on the use of format overrides in structured documents. While automatic formatting based on element structure is the heart of structured FM, the software was deliberately designed in recognition that as a practical matter it is sometimes necessary for an author to create formatting that the document's element definitions simply do not provide. It therefore allows the user to tweak the formatting (for example, by deliberating making some content bold without using the element structure to do so). Users should understand the difference between element-based formatting and format overrides and use the latter with care if at all.

Thanks in advanceI just did a google search of "XML editor with buttons to add HTML tags via CDATA" and found this.
I usually just write in all my XML by hand that included the CDATA tags if needed.

How do I add Meta tags to my website
I have produced a website in i web and published it to my .mac account.
I need to know how to add meta tags to get it recognised by the search engines.
The company I am using to do this want the ftp info. As I upload directly to my .mac account I am not sure what they need. Can you help please?I think I may have a good workaround here, not sure how it will work with .mac as I dont use it, I am in control of my default page within Apache.
Create your site as normal within Iweb and publish it.
Outside of iWeb create your site's real default homepage by hand, that contains the meta tags and that redirects to your iWeb homepage. In this way any Search engine hits to your site will hit the external page first, reading the meta tags then get redirected to your real home page. Not ideal of course but at least you don't have to keep an eye on your metatag's being overwritten by republishing your homepage.
Here is the code from mine, it appears to work:
+

</t+
+itle>+
+
++

This page will redirect to the "Welcome.html" page created in iWeb.
Hope this helps.

I have an application that loads information from an XML file
and displays in a dynamic text box. That works great. Now, I want
to add HTML tags to the information in the XML file so the dynamic
text box will format it. If I add straight html:
<Answer1>of earth, air, fire, and
water.</Answer1>
I get a null displayed in the text box. If I encode
<Answer1>of earth,
>b<air>/<, fire, and
water.</Answer1>
Then it displays
of earth, air, fire, and water.
Any help on how to embedded html code into an XML document so
a dynamic text box uses the html code?
Thanks.Just use CDATA tags around your HTML values, eg:
<Answer1>of earth, air,
fire, and water.</Answer1>

Add carriage return in XML file
Hi,
I found a topic that correspond to my requirement :
[Add carriage return in XML file|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/XI/HowtoappendCarriageReturnintheendofeachtagofxml+file]
But i don't know where created this udf, which input parameter pass?
Thank you for your help.Hi Frantzy,
The link does not give enough explanation. What I am assuming is if you have xml string in one field then if you need to add new line after each tag then you can follow that.
If you want a udf where you want to insert a new line use this udf:
Create a Value UDF with one input argument 'a' and name the udf as addnewline. Then add this code:
Imports: java.*;
String lines;
lines = "";
lines = lines.concat(a + '\n' );
return lines;
Then where ever you want a new line just add this udf in your mapping. If you want a new line for 10 fields then you can put in all the 10 fields.
Example:
Source field --> logic --> udf (addnewline) --> target.
So after logic if you have the value as 123 then in the target you will see 123 followed by a carriage return.

I have a unique situation (may be not that unique). I want to update or add HTML tags in an XML element I am writing a PL/SQL Stored Procedure to insert, update or delete elements/attributes from an XML Type column based on the input XML (coming from Java application). SP is called from Java app. For example my XML may loook like

<Text>This is a test</Text>

I can update this in XML by creatinga SP which accepts a value (clob or text) and make a simple update call like
UPDATE table_name
SET hotel_xml = UPDATEXML (hotel_xml, Description[@Name=''Sales Message'']/Text/text()', 'This is a Test')
WHERE id = 123;
Hopwever when I have HTML tags in my parameter value, my update fails. For example java pp passes me a string
This is a bold Test
(without encoding it is "This is a Bold Test"
When I run this
UPDATE table_name
SET hotel_xml = UPDATEXML (hotel_xml, Description[@Name=''Sales Message'']/Text/text()', 'This is a bold Test')
WHERE id = 123;
It thinks, I am passing a substitution variable (think < and > as sub variables) and the procedure fails.
How do I handle HTML encoded charcters in Oarcle Pl/SQL? Many of my SPs has to accept XML as clob that may contain HTML encoding. Java always encodes HTML tags in an XML so I have to pass the CLOB(xml) to a SP as it isWhen this type of encoding is there in my XML or input variable, PL/SQL thinks
its a substitution variable and tries to replace it by prompting replacement. I think »substitution variables« is the wrong phrase for this. Probably you mean »entity names«, and all that happens is that special characters are converted to »entity names« to ensure valid xml after the update:
SQL> with table_name as (
select xmltype('

<Text>This is a test</Text>

') hotel_xml from dual)
select updatexml (hotel_xml,
'Description[@Name="Sales Message"]/Text/text()',
'This is a bold Test'
) hotel_xml
from table_name
HOTEL_XML

<Text>This is a bold <B>Test</B></Text>
Do you expect your result to look like

<Text>This is a bold Test</Text>

?? -
JAXB / Needs to add header tag and close the header tag at the bottom
I have successfully generated a XML file based on the XSD. I want to add another tag to my generated XML which is not the part of the XSD. Its like adding my whole xml inside a new tag. Is there a way to achieve it?User_10111723083878.xml
to this xml, I want to add as the parent element "<addRequest targetID="BottomLineTarget" executionMode="asynchronous" xmlns="urn:oasis:names:tc:SPML:2:0">
<data>" and close it at the bottom of the xml.
Is it possible?the easiest way would be to create an xsd which includes this new wrapper element, and wrap the original object with your new wrapper object before serializing.
an alternative would be to serialize the original object into a DOM object, then add the wrapper element manually before serializing that DOM object to your final destination (e.g. the xml file).
