I would like to add number of records in one table with number of records in second table. How can this be done?

i am in need of simple sql script where i can compare two table record count.
i have something like below:
(select count(*) from table1) minus (select count(*) from table2)
now the problem is if the table1 count greater then table2 count the output is fine.
If the table2 record count is more then i am getting zero as the output.
how can i get the difference in two tables record count?

Doing a MINUS between the counts does not yield the diff.
e.g. if table A has 100 records and table B has 70 records then,
SELECT count(*) FROM A
minus
SELECT count(*) from B
will give 100 and not 30.
Try this:

Get user count from two tables and display in 1 row

I have 2 tables.....
Table1 Table2
user date user date
With 1 query, I want to display the user, the count of the number of times a user appears in Table1.user as count1 and the count of the number of times that same user appears in Table2.user as count2 between a specific time period. I have looked and tried things including joins, unions, nested loops but can't get anything to work. The result would appear like this:
USER COUNT1 COUNT2
john 100 2
doe 1000 200

Welcome to the forum!
I think the easiest way to do this is to do a GROUP BY query on each table separately, and then combine the results, using FULL OUTER JOIN or UNION.

As Solomon pointed out, I forgot the GROUP BY clauses in the sub-query.
Without the tables, I can't test it.

SQL Query question : how to add data to two tables connected by third Junction-table.

Maybe this is the wrong formum but I've got a question for which you probably have the answer, i hope.
Situation
John is member of Group_A and Group_B
Bill is member of Group_B and Group_C
Allison is member of Group_A and Group_E
How can I create a query to input Allisons username into table 1 and groupmembership into table 2. Also updating the relationship within junction-table3 must be done automaticaly. I want to avoid duplicate records.
The final situation I want is given in red text.
The relationships between the tables are as follows
Table1 (PK)ID-Userinfo    [ONE]    <------------> [MANY] Table3 ID-Userinfo

Adding count from two select statements

Hi,
How to add counts from two select statements in a single SQL statement.
For ex: I have
SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT COL1) FROM table1
and
SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT COL2) FROM table2.
I want to add the counts from these two sqls in a single select query. How to do this.

Union two tables with diffrent count of fields with null and float value

Hello,
i want to union two tables, first one with 3 fields and second one with 4 fields (diffrent count of fields).
I can add null value at end of first select but it does not work with float values in second table. Value form second table is convert to integer.
For example:
select null v1 from sessions
union
select 0.05 v1 from sessions
result is set of null and 0 value.
As workaround i can type:
select null+0.0 v1 from sessions
union
select 0.05 v1 from sessions
or simple change select's order.
Is any better/proper way to do this? Can I somehow set float field type in first select?

Hi Lukasz,
in a UNION statement the first statement defines the structure (number, names and types of fields) of the resultset.
Therefore you have to define a FLOAT field in the first SELECT statement in order to avoid conversion to VARCHAR.
Be aware that NULL and 0.0 are not the same thus NULL+0.0 does not equal NULL.
In fact NULL cannot equal to any number or character value at all.
BTW: you may want to use UNION ALL to avoid the search and removal of duplicates - looks like your datasets won't contain duplicates anyhow...

You can try by creating a 2 line template (1 Template, 2 linetype) under a loop note.
So your smartform tree structure will be shown like this:
LOOP
TEMPLATE1.
On the LOOP part, pass the internal table of your data to the working areas.
On the template put all the data of the summary on your first linetype, and put
the detail data on your second linetype.

Using a view to join two tables

Thank you in advance for any advice you can lend.
I am using this code in my MySQL db to create a view.
select
    job.id as job_id,
    umr_cost_calculation.plant_name,
    max(umr_cost_calculation.id) as max_id
from
    job,
    umr_cost_calculation
where
    job.id = umr_cost_calculation.job_id
group by job.id , umr_cost_calculation.plant_name
I did this so I can join two tables and pull in the most current cost data for a specific plant. The report will, at times, show the wrong (older) data. I can re-run the report, filter to just the one job and see again the wrong data. When I add the max_id to the report, it display the id and updates the report with the correct data. It appears that the view was stale and by adding the ID to the report this fixed the issue.
1) Is this the best way to make this join? I don't see how Crystal supports a subquery to make a join (this is why I used the view).
2) If I leave the max_id on the report, will this force the view to always update?

How to add connection between two Web Part Data Views in sharepoint designer 2013

Hi I have problems with connect two data view
I have a SQL server database named Mini
In Mini database I have two tables: dbo.Table_A and dbo.Table_B
Table_A design and Table_B design
In the internet browser it look like this after I add the connections, the problem is there is no connection when I click at the Blue link id 2 and 3 ??? John's and Jes's Lastname did not show up, the links is dead. that's my problem
The must strange is that, if I do the same below, in sharepoint 2010 designer it do well ?? so what in the .....

Generate delta records by comparing multiple fields from two tables?

I have two tables with similar fields. Let's say Table 1 (T1) has fields Customer, A, B and C. Table 2 (T2) has fields Customer0002, A0002, B0002 and C0002. For each customer (each record) I want to check whether there is any difference in field A and A0002 or B and B0002 or C and C0002. If there is a difference between any of these pairs of fields then I will update that customer's record. Currently I have a piece of code
   DATA: ls_source TYPE y_source_fields,
        ls_target TYPE y_target_fields.

Deleting data from two tables

The data is migrated to our production database by accident and I would like to delete those records by using the created date and created by. this information is exits in two tables and I am wondering what i need to do to
delete the records from both tables. refvendor is the main table. please help.

Maintaining distinct counts in summary tables - thoughts

Hi,
We have a 3bn row transaction fact table of sales by product_id and customer_id.
We have some very large summaries on this. e.g product/multiple.
Wish to add at the summary leveks a distinct count of customers whio have been supplied or returned at these aggregate levels.
At moment,code merges into summary tables latest batch of data on daily basis. Fine for sums, but when updating the summary table only want to read the latest batch of data, rather than having to scan the entire lower level table to get the count(distinct)
How can we efficiently increment the counts but ensuring only increemnt if a brand new customer being supplied.
Mat. views impractical at this stage due to volume of data.

So if you have a calculation(Webi) function(Excel) built into the two tables you are using from the data source you might try 'configuring' the data as 'Occurance' from the workspace you created or after the file in index if you're using excel. If you are using a universe as a data source for the exploration view set you can attempt to drag the 'measure' needed (count) into the workspace option "measure" when creating the workspace.

We have a requirement where we are asked to find data differences between two tables and one of the tables reside on remote database. The database version is same ( 10g ) and datatypes for the tables are similar.
The client is looking for a sql report or kind of utility to display the data differences for each column ( if possible count differences ) with some meaningful error messages.
Could anyone let me know the best possible way of doing it..?

To check whether there is any size mismatch between columns of two tables

Here i got two tables T and M where i am going to migrate data from T to M. But before migrating i need to check whether all the data in source table fits into destination table columns. The datatypes of all columns in source table T is of Varchar2 only as it is a temp table.
Ex :- Table 'T' (Source table) with columns
T_Lat Varchar2(50);
T_Amt Varchar2(50);
T_Cat Varchar2(50);
T_Vat Varchar2(50);
Now I have another table 'M'(Destination Table) with columns
M_Lat Varchar2(50);
M_Amt varchar2(25);
M_Cat date;
M_Vat number;
Now my task is I have to do a prevalidation of the data in 'T' that whether all the data in those columns will suit for the destination table columns respectively (to check whether there is any size mismatch). This check should be done dynamically.
For suppose, in T_Amt(source column of T table) if text is abt 50 characters, it cant fit M_Amt(destination column of M table). In this case it should throw an error indicating that destination column size is less for the source column.
Note:- There is no unique mapping column for these two tables and there are about 400 columns in the source table to be validate
I think it can be done using arrays or plsql tables.
Can any one help in this regard.

Just because the source table T_Amt column is defined as 50 doesn't mean any of the data is really that long. So the data itself needs to be checked. That is just what a simple query can do.

There are 14 total records, 2 where JOB is null, 4 where the JOB is SALESMAN. The MIN length of the JOB data is 5 and the MAX is 9.
Look at the date values. The results tell me I have some problem data.
The length data tells me if I try to put the JOB data into another table I need to define the length as at least 9 or it won't fit.
For your use case you might find that all of the data in the T_Lat column is shorter than 26 and will actually fit into the M_Lat target table column.

built two tables (Table A and B) with different type of data from a database and each of it will update when user click a button.
The problem that i have is how to make sure that when user click a row in Table A, any selection in Table B will be deselect.
I am new in programming and still barely understand in Swing components.

where should I put the line of code.add a mouse listener in table A
put the code on mousePressed.
e.g.
tableA.addMouseListener(new java.awt.event.MouseListener() {
            public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e) {
            public void mouseEntered(MouseEvent e) {
            public void mouseExited(MouseEvent e) {
            public void mousePressed(MouseEvent e) {
                tableB.clearSelection();
            public void mouseReleased(MouseEvent e) {
        });
