Add EULA to Air app?

Hi
Has Adobe implemented a way to allow a EULA to be added to the instalation of an Air app yet?
Not much turns up in searches for this info.
Thanks guys
Shaun

Thanks Joe
I'll put the EULA on the download page too, so they have to accept before they can download the installer.

  • How can I set connection to external XML file with Dreamweaver to buiild AIR app?

    Hello,
    I try to do simple AIR app in dreamweaver. It's not problem
    to use static data. But I'd like to use dynamic data from external
    XML file. I try to use Spry and evrything works fine in web browser
    but i have problem with loading external XML data into my app in
    AIR. Can I simply transform my spry based html app into AIR?
    What should I add to do this?

    What are the requirements and steps for arranging to receive this large file using File Transfer Protocol (FTP)?
    Usually, we don't speak of "receive" when using FTP, since the file is transferred from server to client, so it's more of a case of "download".
    At your end, it's simple. You use an FTP client; under SL, that includes Finder and Safari, so you don't even need to get any additional software.
    At the other end, it's more complicated; the 'sender' must set up an FTP server on his machine.
    Alternatively, you can set up your own Mac as an FTP server, and have the 'sender' connect to you with an FTP client and upload the file; but, if your Mac lives behind a router, then you have more work to do with the router settings.
    That's why it's much easier to use the file sharing services mentioned above -- if they are available in both sender's and receiver's locations. (Keep in mind that some countries block access to all those mentioned -- except perhaps <www.transfer.ro>, of which I know absolutely nothing.)

  • Example working Flex AIR app for Android?

    I'm having trouble getting even the most basic AIR app working on Android. Here is the code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <s:WindowedApplication xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
                            xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
                            xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" xmlns:local="*"
                            width="600" height="600">
         <fx:Declarations>
             <!-- Place non-visual elements (e.g., services, value objects) here -->
         </fx:Declarations>
         <mx:Label text="Hello World"/>
    </s:WindowedApplication>
    It works fine running on  Windows in Flash Builder, obviously it's pretty simple. Here are the  commands I use to put it on a Samsung Galaxy Tab with Android 2.2.
    C:\Users\Ryan\Adobe  Flash Builder 4\Test2\bin-release>adt -package -storetype pkcs12  -keystore C:\Users\Ryan\STG-Android.pfx Test2.air Test2-app.xml  Test2.swf
    password:
    C:\Users\Ryan\Adobe Flash Builder 4\Test2\bin-release>adt -package  -target apk -storetype pkcs12 -keystore C:\Users\Ryan\STG-Android.pfx  Test2.apk Test2-app.xml Test2.swf
    password:
    test
    C:\Users\Ryan\Adobe Flash Builder 4\Test2\bin-release>adb install -r Test2.apk
    2286 KB/s (419172 bytes in 0.179s)
             pkg: /data/local/tmp/Test2.apk
    Success
    A Test2 app icon shows up on my Galaxy Tab  under Applications but when I run the app I just see a plain white  screen, I don't see the words "Hello World". Any ideas? Does anyone have  an example Flex AIR app that works on Android and can post the code so I  can try it on my Galaxy Tab? I know AIR is installed correctly on my  Galaxy because I installed an AIR app called South Park Avatar Creator  that I got from the market and it works fine.
    Thanks,
    Ryan

  • AIR apps developed using HTML+Javascript

    Hi…
    I am working on Adobe AIR.
    And now I have 3 options to develop AIR applications 1)Flex
    2) Flash 3) HTML+javascript.
    But can you please explain me when do I exactly use Flex Or
    HTML+JS Or Flash.
    One of the reason I know is Flex used for Rich UI
    applications
    Is there any list of requirements for which one of the 3
    option is most suitable to use.
    And I have some more questions.
    1) Can AIR applications(developed using HTML+Js) invoke a web
    service running on a different server
    2) Can AIR application(developed using HTML+Js) detect the
    connectivity of USB drive (I have developed 1 application that can
    detect the Network connectivity and periodically reports the status
    I want the same in case of USB(plug & play) connectivity)
    3) I have one AIR application that has one HTML form on click
    of button I am posting the form Data to Java Servlet using
    “air.sendToURL()” as shown
    <script src="AIRAliases.js" />
    <script>
    function sendURL()
    var url = "
    http://localhost:8080/InvokingServlet/Registration";
    var variables = new air.URLVariables();
    variables.username = document.f1.username.value;
    variables.password = document.f1.password.value;
    var request = new air.URLRequest(url);
    request.data = variables;
    air.sendToURL(request);
    alert("Data has been added to Remote DB...");
    </script>
    The data goes to Servlet and then Servlet thru Jdbc
    Connectivity adds the data to database “MySQL” database
    named “user”
    If I read the data from database and print in Servlet it
    displays that to “tomcat server window(log)” But I want
    the data from Servlet to send back to HTML page where I can display
    it on the same HTML page where user entered his details. So even if
    I put the result into some Scope like session or request, but Can I
    read that it in HTML+Javascript page .

    This question gets asked about once a week. You
    can find my latest answer
    here
    and a little searching will dig up more opinions.
    quote:

    service running on a different server
    An AIR application isn't hosted on a server, so all web
    servers are "foreign" to your AIR application. An AIR app does get
    downloaded from a server, most of the time, but it doesn't maintain
    some kind of special connection to that server.
    Because of this, there are no cross-domain restrictions in
    AIR like you have in a regular web browser.
    quote:

    connectivity of USB drive
    AIR does not allow low-level system access, and has very
    little in the way of platform-specific capabilities. So, you'd have
    to use a high-level, platform-agnostic way of checking for the
    drive, such as by looking around to see what files are available.
    Things like USB insert notifications are way outside the scope of
    AIR.
    quote:
    I want the data from Servlet to send back to HTML page where
    I can display it on the same HTML page where user entered his
    details.
    That question isn't on-topic here. Ask on a forum dealing
    with JSP servlets.

  • Can individual Adobe Air apps be installed without local admin permission into a user-owned folder?

    Is this a supported scenario?
    Windows 7 PC.
    Adobe Air runtime (latest; 4.0) has been installed by an administrator using a local admin account and the eulaAccepted file is present under the "All Users" profile.
    User logs in using her own account which does not have local admin rights.
    User downloads an Air app and tries to install it to C:\Users\<username> where she has full write permissions to the disk.
    What I observe when acting as the User is that the Windows UAC (security escalation to local admin rights) dialog pops up. Can anyone clearly state what the Adobe Air installer is doing that requires the UAC escalation when installing an app to a user's folder? Thanks.

    Thanks for your reply, Chris. We're working around these problems by deploying the Air runtime + the application separately using an administration tool, which is fine for now.
    I logged the question because I don't see any registry edits or privileged folder access taking place. I suspect that the UAC escalation has something to do with the "eulaAccepted" file; checking that it exists. I doubt that escalated permissions are really required for this. In the long term, it'd be good if this "use case" could be added to the test cycle of Air; perhaps the UAC dialog could be avoided, improving the flexibility of deployment options.
    Ideally the test would start with an adminstrator-installed Air package *without* the EULA being accepted. The user should be able to install apps and approve the EULA without the UAC dialog popping up at all.

  • Air apps not working on Vista 64 bit since 1.5

    The Adobe Air 1.5 update went fine on my Vista 64 bit system,
    both apps (Thwirl and Spaz) worked fine. Then both apps released an
    update and they crash when attempting to update. Download manually
    the .air file and it can't find the software to open the file and
    will not install. Uninstall Air, reinstall Air. Go to Adobe's Air
    site and try to install any Air app, not a single one will install.
    Air shows up in Add/Remove Programs but now I cannot use a single
    Air application. Have installed (as administrator) and unstalled
    Air a few times, same result. The result I get when I try to
    install something from the Adobe site:
    "Something went wrong trying to install this application.
    Please install the latest version of Adobe Air"

    Unfortunately I can only generate a log for the Air install
    itself. Once Air 1.5 is installed and I try to install any Air
    Application, it fails immediately with the error message in my
    initial post. I created the .airappinstall.log following the
    procedures in kb403123 and echo was on when I went to the Thwirl
    site and clicked "Install Thwirl" and the error message comes up
    instantly and no data is added to .airappinstall.log. And when I
    download the .air file manually Windows cannot find Air at all to
    associate with the .air file. Here is the text from the fresh Air
    install I performed right before trying to install Thwirl (taken
    from the .airinstall.log file):

  • AIR app won't debug or compile in FB 4.7

    So I have an AIR app that's been around quite awhile, going back to Flex Builder 3 and AIR 2.x...
    I've recently upgraded to Flash Builder 4.7 and I had no troubles with this app until today when I tried to run it in Debug mode -- I got some errors about namespace, did a Google search, found out that I needed to overlay the AIR SDK onto the Flex SDK (http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/how-overlay-air-sdk-flex-sdk.html) and I followed those instructions...
    Then when I re-loaded Flash Builder 4.7, I started getting stuff like "Could not resolve <mx:Module> to a component implementation."  So more Google searches, and I found out I needed to change the name-space from xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" to xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx".  So fine, I did that...
    Now I'm getting "Unable to resolve MXML language version. Please specify the language namespace on the root document tag."  Can't find anything on this on Google -- well, nothing that works at any rate...  Found someone suggesting I add the fx: namespace, so I did: xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
    But when I add that namespace, I get "Cannot resolve <mx:Script> to a component implementation."
    WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!  I just want to debug my AIR app like I used to be able to in Flash Builder 4.6.  HELP!
    Thanks,
    L.

    I changed <mx:Script> to <fx:Script> and now it seems to work fine...

    "Fatal signal 13 (SIGPIPE) at 0x00004de8 (code=0) adobe air"
    Any help or fix would be highly appreciated.

    From the docs that I could find (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/build/WSfffb011ac560372f-5d0f4f25128cc9cd0cb-7ffd.html), it appears that "auto" mode = cpu mode.
    The default value is auto, which currently falls back to cpu mode.
    Is this happening on multiple devices or just the one?  Any chance we could get access to your application to try it out?  If so, could you please open a new bug report on this over at bugbase.adobe.com?  If you'd like to keep your app/code private, feel free to email the attachment to me directly ([email protected]).
    Once added, please post back with the URL so that others affected can add their comments and votes.

  • How to compile an .air app from the ADT command line?

    Hi,
    I would like to compile an .air app from the ADT command line.
    Does anybody have an example?
    I don't know how to add the AIR SDK path and a folder to it.
    Is there a generator for the command line availabble?
    Thanks

    Correction: it seems that Applescripts and some similar scripts can be called from the command line using "osascript scriptname". I don't speak automator but you might like to try it. osascript seems to come with severe limitations though, for instance it doesn't allow user interaction such as dialogue boxes.

  • Google AdSense & Adobe Air: Got banned for achieving success with my air apps

    I don't know if this is the right place to post it, but I'd like to tell you my little success story and warn about the implications that might come from the use of google adsense - probably
    the most popular mobile ad provider after google gave up on admob. Here it goes:
    Today I received an email from uncle Google stating that my account had been suspended due to the implementation of mobile AdSense ads in my apps, which is supposedly against the rules, even though I couldn't find anything specific that would support their claims in their terms of use. Nevertheless, to cut long story short, I've been easily making EUR50-60 and having 30-40k views a day (just in 2.5 months since the day I developed my first app on google play). So, as you can see, we're talking here about a really nice revenue, and it's just from my AIR apps.
    Unfortunately, when a developer does achieve success, people at google start checking them up in hopes of finding any reason to claim their hard-earned money and ban their accounts (I had on my adsense account somwhere around EUR 2000 - about EUR 1700 from apps and EUR 300 from my websites, and yes, google has taken it all, even the cash from the websites).
    This entire situation is really aggreviating and saddening. I mean, I've spent so much time, and money as well, promoting and developing my apps, and the only thing I get is a slap in the cheek . God that feels bloody awful. I believe that taking the matter to the court won't help either, as google has a paragraph in their terms of use stating that everything belongs to them, and that they can ban you at will without giving the reason. But what is the most insolent and infuriating is that they thanked me for "my cooperation and understanding, and wished me a nice day." - for realz google, you don't have to kick a lying men...
    The punch line of this depressing story is that if you only have the opportunity to transfer the money from your adsense account, or from any other ad provider your using on a daily basis, just DO IT and don't wait till they find anything on you and claim your revenue.
    Dear ADOBE, what's the real point of Air apps if we don't even have a viable and safe way to monetize our applications. Why do we have to be treated by the mobile ads providers as "subdevelopers"? We just want to get legally paid for our work. Is that too much to ask?
    Feel free to repost it whenever and wherever you want.

    Swyze

  • Admin rights to install AIR apps on Windows?

    Hi
    I have the  AIR framework 1.5 already installed on a Windows XP PC.
    After this, are admin/power-user rights required to install AIR apps on the same machine to the "My Documents" folder? I would assume NO. Pls clarify.
    If admin rights are required, are there ways to disable certain install features (Add/Remove control panel entry etc) to remove this admin requirement?
    Thanks in advance

    You must have the correct permissions to install anything.  This includes AIR applications.

  • Beefing up Secirity and Encryption in Air Apps

    Hello,
    We are working on an AIR app currently and concerned about
    security when it comes to local data and content. We have come up
    with a few ideas which may help.
    1. Storing Data in the local encrypted datastore
    This is a great feature, unfortunately, you need to get the
    information into it in a secure way. Storing usernames and
    password...urls etc in plain text in the AIR file is a bad idea.
    Pulling the info down from the server and firing it in is better,
    but this adds reliance on a server, which developers may or may not
    have access to, and still may have security issues.
    Would it not be possible to have a new option/panel added to
    the Air settings window that allowed developers to add a list
    variables/values that they wanted set in the local encrypted
    datastore upon the initial install of the application. These
    variables could be encrypted in the AIR package perhaps, using a
    key/encryption routine known only by Adobe and removed from
    existence as soon as they were added safely to the local enc
    datastore. Perhaps a function could then be added to the API that
    allowed these variables to be pulled back out and decrypted. I
    realize the local datastore is encrypted, but what we are talking
    about is getting the data into it in a more secure way that does
    not necessarily rely on a server or having to store the keys in
    plain text in the air package.
    2. Encrypting the descriptor file and/or SWF content.
    Although the swf format is easy to decompilable, if you
    encrypted it, it's a much harder go. The end user really should
    have no need to ever see this info, and developers could then
    potentialy use things like the Application ID or publisher ID to
    help secure other aspects of their app. Also, if its encrypted,
    perhaps this is were extra variables could go. Once again, the
    encryption routine/method used to pull this off could be
    proprietary and known only to ADOBE. If developers could safely
    store there own encryption keys in the local datastore, they could
    even come up with there own routines, or use other encryption
    standards that already exit to protect there content.
    Just to wrap up, I really think AIR is great, but I think it
    could be fantastic if ADOBE worked a little magic and chipped of
    the security aspects in AIR a bit. I think this is one of the only
    major stumbling blocks I can see for mass adoption for serious
    industrial strength apps using AIR.
    Where there's a will there is a way, and perhaps there are
    others out there with innovative ideas that could contribute to
    beefing up AIR security.
