Add Image Metadata as Text in SlideShow?

I have a slideshow in Premiere Pro CC 2014. I've taken the time to add a 'description' or captions within the metadata of the images themselves. I'd like to create a text field at the bottom of the slideshow so that the field queries the photo description as the video progresses along. I've got 580 still images, so hand typing the captions [Again] is not a desirable option (such as titles or closed captioning). I've not been able to find any good documentation on doing this, which is concerning and leads me to believe it cannot be done. Perhaps (hopefully) I'm searching the wrong keywords?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Best,
-Randy

Hi Randy,
Thanks a lot for the reply.  Your post got me thinking that it's actually a flash problem, as the actual descriptor text shows 123,etc and "&".
The trouble is that the icons are dynamically loaded from the XML to movie clips on the flash file.  I've asked the flash forum to see if they could take a look.
Thanks again.
Mike

  • Using Javascript & Actions to resize an image and add the filename as text

    Hello,
    I am currently working on a way to take an image, resize it and add exactly what is in it's file name (before extension) as a text layer. I have succeded in this BUT am having issues with file names that require more than one line of text.
    I need the text to align to the bottom of the image & the script or action must then resize the image so that the text does not overlap.
    Any ideas on how this can be done?
    At the moment I am using:
    -"Fit Image.jsx" to resize my image to a specific size (This was included in the Photoshop CS5 scripts)
    - A script to add the file name without extension and place the file name at a specific position.
    AdFileName.jsx
    if ( documents.length > 0 )
    var originalRulerUnits = preferences.rulerUnits;
    preferences.rulerUnits = Units.PIXELS;
    try
      var docRef = activeDocument;
      // Now create a text layer at the front
      var myLayerRef = docRef.artLayers.add();
      myLayerRef.kind = LayerKind.TEXT;
      myLayerRef.name = "Filename";
      var myTextRef = myLayerRef.textItem;
      // strip the extension off
      var fileNameNoExtension = docRef.name;
      fileNameNoExtension = fileNameNoExtension.split( "." );
      if ( fileNameNoExtension.length > 1 ) {
       fileNameNoExtension.length--;
      fileNameNoExtension = fileNameNoExtension.join(".");
      myTextRef.contents = fileNameNoExtension;
      // off set the text to be in the middle
      myTextRef.position = new Array( docRef.width / 2, docRef.height / 2 );
      myTextRef.size = 12;
            myTextRef.font="Arial-BoldMT"
            //set position of text
            myTextRef.justification = Justification.CENTER;
            myTextRef.kind = TextType.PARAGRAPHTEXT;
            myTextRef.width= docRef.width;
            myTextRef.height= docRef.height/ 2;
            myTextRef.position= [0, docRef.height * 0.88];
    catch( e )
      // An error occurred. Restore ruler units, then propagate the error back
      // to the user
      preferences.rulerUnits = originalRulerUnits;
      throw e;
    // Everything went Ok. Restore ruler units
    preferences.rulerUnits = originalRulerUnits;
    else
    alert( "You must have a document open to add the filename!" );
    Can the position be changed to allow more rows of text but keep it aligned with the bottom of the layer?
    How can I script in a way to make the image resize based on the amount of text lines?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    You can add a text layer any where the only thing you need to worry about is the size of the font you use.  You can normally calculate a font size by saving the images resoltuion and then setting its resolution to 72 DPI calculate a font size basied of the images pixel width and the number of characters you want in a line. After adding the text layer you can restore the image to its original resolution and align the text layer by making a selection and alignint the text layer to the selection.  There are nine posibilites like the positions in the selection you can align to like a tick tack toe board. You need to use a script to add the text layer because your retrieving the filename.  The positioning of the text layer could be done easily in an action the would use the scriot to add a text layer the do a select all  the align the added text layer to the selection.
    About your script don't make text paragraph just add new line characters to make a multi line text layer So it can be positioned easily
    I do just that with my stampexif action.  The action uses my stampexif Photoshop java script to add a multi line text layer containing some formatted EXIF data then the action centers the text layer and add a layer style to it. Link http://www.mouseprints.net/old/dpr/StampExif.jsx Example

  • "Add Images" option not showing in Muse Slideshow

    I've also tried > Edit > Place > (my images) and they aren't going in the slideshow.
    And since the button to 'Add Images' is missing from the Composition Options for my slideshow I am unable to change the images.
    Help please? Many Thanks.

    Hi WebLadyKim,
    It looks to me like you are using the wrong tool for creating Slideshows? I say that because as I see in your screenshot it says 'Composition Options' at the top of the dialog box. This tells me you are using the 'Composition' tools instead of the 'Slideshow tools.
    You should see 'Slideshow Options' at the top instead if using the right tool.
    If I am wrong, can you tell me what Slideshow from the panel you are using?

  • Is there a way to add images , text and button in the individual marquee of a carousel

    Is there a way to add images , text and button in the individual marquee of a carousel ?

    Write a custom carousel.  Usually carousel components are just ULs that use something like jQuery to rotate through the LIs.  The foundation carousel component is really just designed for some specific use cases.  Generally I would just recommend rolling your own.

  • How can you add images and text to UIScrollBar Component

    I can only add the text, can't add images. Also how can you make paragraphs out of long text in a UIScrollBar?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    UIScrollBar Component can be attached to a dynamic text filed and the text field can be set to Render Text as HTML option which in turn can display both text & images(using <img> tags).
    Refer http://www.flashvalley.com/fv_tutorials/loading_HTML_in_a_dynamic_text_field/page2.php that may help you getting what do you want

  • Can't add images to slideshow

    I just installed Web Premium. I created a slideshow and have
    just opened the xml file to add images. When I click the "create"
    button I get the following message: "slideshow XML file has be"
    That's it. It does nothing else. It hangs up right here. It
    looks as though there should be more to the message because
    according to the instructions after you add more images to an
    existing slideshow and click on "create", you will be prompted to
    update the file, then the slideshow will be created with the new
    images.
    Does anyone else have this problem and will I have to
    uninstall the whole suite and re-install?

    When Fireworks CS3 creates a slideshow, it generates two
    folders.
    One is called “scripts” that you do not need to
    mess with and then the other, which is where the generated photos
    are stored, is named by you when the slideshow is originally
    created. This file, which I usually call “Gallery”, has
    two sub-folders, called “thumbs” and
    “notes”.
    To add a new photo to a current slideshow:
    Edit the image size (I use Fireworks) of the photo, with the
    exact dimensions of the other photos, located in the
    “Gallery” folder. Place a copy of the edited image into
    the "Gallery" folder.
    Also, create the thumbnail of the same photo, with the exact
    dimensions of the other thumbnails, located in the
    “thumbs” folder, and then place a copy in the
    “thumbs” folder.
    Now the images are located where Fireworks is going to look
    for them when you edit the program.
    Open Fireworks > Commands>Creative Slideshow.
    Click on “Open Existing Album”
    Search for the XML file located in the root for the slide
    show.
    Click the title of the slideshow in the Albums box to display
    the images in the images in the Images box.
    Now, Click the + button and add the new photo you placed in
    the “Gallery” folder by clicking the
    “…” button. Search for the image and click Done.
    Click create…If you see the stupid half-message that
    says, “Processing… Slideshow XML file
    (“slideshow.xml”) has be…" Don’t worry,
    click Close to get the message to go away, and then click the X on
    the window to close the slideshow program.
    That’s it…you should now have your slideshow
    updated.
    To remove a photo from the slide show:
    Delete the photo from the “Gallery” folder and
    then the “thumb” folder.
    Open Fireworks > Commands>Creative Slideshow.
    Click on “Open Existing Album”
    Search for the XML file located in the root for the slide
    show.
    Click the title of the slideshow in the Albums box to display
    the images in the images in the Images box.
    Click the photo you want to be removed from the program, then
    click the – button.
    Click Create…that’s it.
    Good luck!

  • Image metadata is not retained(stripped) in lightbox slideshow widget

    How is this corrected

    Can someone at Adobe please confirm that there is no reading of the image metadata.  I thought it was limiting that it was only the caption field available.  I am stunned if this is the case that no metadata is being read.  I am working on a photo web site and got to the point of importing photos with the 'captions' checked.  Huge surprise.  It is hard to believe that something as fundamental as basic metadata fields (caption, title, filename, copyright) isn't pulled with the image and available as needed.  C'mon, you are the company that has Photoshop and Lightroom.  Do you guys talk to the other teams?
    I was looking at Muse galleries as an alternative to the LR web module for 2 reasons:  one is flexibility in layout, and the other is speed, since the LR gallery export cranks along at a glacial pace to the point of being almost unusable.  And this is the LR4 upgrade; much slower than LR3.  See the LR threads on this if you're interested.  Still waiting for that fix.
    The thought of manually entering caption info to a dozen galleries, each with 20 or 30 images, is nonsense.  This makes Muse a non-starter for photo galleries.  This is basic capability.  Adobe should be embarrassed that LR4 doesn't do what it should in this regard, and that the feature needed don't even exist in Muse.  Everyone expects a few bugs in the early days of a new software, but not missing essential, fundamental features to make web galleries useful.
    Rant now over and I will happily apologize if the metada fields are, indeed, available.  Please explain how.  Thanks.

  • How do I add images to the jquery slider provided in Dreamweaver CC?

    I have inserted the slider using the DW CC Insert > JQueryUI > Slider, but find no Properties options to add images to it. Is there a missing interface for that or some tutorial? Can't find anything. I'm not a coder, which is why I use DW.

    I've never used the widgets in DW because honestly the code seems very bloated for such a simple task.  By comparison, the code for jQuery Cycle2 is very light and easy to understand.   Copy & paste this into a new, blank document.  Change images to your own.  SaveAs cycle-test.html. • Trouble with "add note to replace text" annotation

    When I use "Add note to replace text" in Reader XI, the note acts as if it is locked even though it is not. The Locked box is not checked, but yet the options are grayed out; and I cannot delete the note, though I can edit the text box. "Strikethrough" and "Insert text at cursor" work fine.
    I am using the latest update of XI and have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times; I've also tried various older versions of XI. It happens with documents I've created or documents others have created; it happens on docs created from Word or those created from InDesign; it happens on docs downloaded several years ago as well as ones from the past month.
    I CAN delete these add-and-replace notes if I receive a file with them already put there by someone else--I just can't delete my own that I am adding right now. When I send the pdf to other people they have the same problem--in fact, someone told me that in her case ALL of my notes appear locked, not just the Add note to replace text one--yet when I send it to her, on my side, I have not locked any of them.
    Also, I do seem to be able to delete my own annotations I put on documents fairly recently--I have files from Sept 9 and Sept 17 that I can do this. But if I try to add notes to those same docs now, they act just like all the other ones--I cannot delete those particular notes and they appear locked.
    Help please!!

    You could write an html-text file that revers to the image file
    after that you could even convert this html-file to an rtfd file (which is a package after all) using textutil

    Hi,
    Thanks for the quick response.
    The problem is that when I keep the logo as a watermark, the pdf is not adjusting itself to include the logo as header.
    But if I add a header text via Tools -> Headers and Footers, the pdf is adjusting itself so that the header text is at the beginning , not overlapping with the contents of pdf.
    But while using logo as watermark, some times overlapping of the pdf contents and logo is happening.
    Is there any way to add a logo in the Header and Footer via the option in Tools -> Headers and Footers
    Thanks,

  • InDesign CS3 Scripting XML Import Multiple Images into same Text Frame

    I am having trouble importing multiple images into the same Text Frame using XML import. I imported 5 images into the text frame. However, all 5 images are laying on top of one another. Does anyone know if there is a way to have all images laying out like how Microsoft Word handles inline images, i.e., laying out next image to the right of previsous image in the same line and if there is not enough space left in the line, then wrap to next line. Thanks in advance. I understand I could use JavaScript to do post import processing, e.g, calculate the image size and place each images accordingly. But I am trying to see whether there is a way to do this without scripts.

    You can apply an object style to all anchored images by script. A text frame containing main flow should be selected.
    var doc = app.activeDocument;
    var textFrame =  app.selection[0];
    var rectangles = textFrame.texts[0].rectangles;
    if (rectangles.length > 0) {
         for (var i=0; i < rectangles.length; i++) {
              rectangles[i].appliedObjectStyle = doc.objectStyles.item("Cover");
    However, there is a better approach:
    Step 1
    Create place holders for a single "Book" element and format it as needed -- apply an object style to the cover.
    Step 2
    Import the xml file -- the placeholders are replaced with data from the 1st xml element
    Step 3
    Drag & drop the element containing all "Books" elements into the main flow -- all elements are placed and formatted the same way as in step 1.
    Finally, add a new page, click the overset text icon and autoflow text to add pages so that to fit all the text.
    Hope this helps.

    Let's say the text field's name is "Text1", and the combo is called "Combo1". You can then use this code as the MouseUp script of the Add button:
    var f1 = this.getField("Text1");
    var f2 = this.getField("Combo1");
    if (f1.value=="") f1.value = f2.value;
    else f1.value = f1.value + ", " + f2.value;
