Add music to itunes

I bought some music from MuscleMixes (for classes i am teaching).  The music is in my desktop library but I can't get it to show up in iTunes.  I dragged and dropped, I created a Playlist, I renamed them, nothing.  When I right click and say OPEN the screen goes to my iTunes open which is open but nothing happens.  The downloaded music is MP3.  How can I get it to iTunes??  I need to transfer it to my iPad for teaching classes, but first it needs to be in iTunes.  Can anyone help?

You have to import your music to your iTunes library sync it to your phone.  Launch iTunes and go to Help>iTunes Help.  Read the section entitles "Import music, videos and more".  There's also a section on syncing your iPhone.  You'll also find videos under Help>iTunes Tutorials.

  • Can't add music to iTunes 10.6.3

    Hi there,
I am running iTunes 10.6.3 on my OSX 10.5.8 . All of a sudden (well, maybe I just noticed it, but definitely within the last three weeks) - can't remember if I updated in that time period), I am unable to add music to iTunes. I can't drag and drop, can't do file --> add music to library, nothing. If I get music by converting youtube to mp3, THAT opens in iTunes, but I've just downloaded an entire album and don't really want to go converting fifteen+ songs one by one.
I don't have Cloud, don't have match.... can anyone help me?

Hold down the option key while starting iTunes, then select library.  Your library is stored in your Home > Music > iTunes > iTunes Library.itl file
iTunes can be picky about mp3 formatting and not all mp3s files are created the same.

To prevent a sync when plugging in the iPod/iPhone - hold down the 'option' and the 'command' keys when plugging in the iPod/iPhone - key the keys down until the iPod/iPhone is listed under the Devices list in iTunes - this will prevent a sync from taking place and you will be able to change your settings.

In general, itunes has DRM (copy protection) so it will only work according to the license... and as far as I know, Apple's license does not allow use in a new product, only in the Apple player... new product being the video you want to create

  • How do I add music from itunes to imovie

How do I add  music  from  itunes to imovie?

    Hi
    I do
    • Never use .mp3 (or other strange formats)
    • Never import directly from iTunes
    • Convert all to .aiff 16-bit 48kHz or from Audio-CD 44.1kHz .aiff
In iTunes I collect needed audio into a new PlayList
    - then burn them as a Standard Audio-CD (.aiff)
to convert .mp3 or other formats to .aiff I use - Audacity™ (free from Internet)
and in all my movie projects in - iMovie HD6 or iMovie'11 or FinalCut Express or Pro - I use these .aiff files.
I have near to Zero problem with Audio in my projects.
Yes - tedious. Yes there might be better ways - BUT - YES I hate to re-do my projects and the Audio never makes me to do that this way.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

  • I can't add music to iTunes with latest software and updates.

I just updated to Mavericks and I have version 11.1.3 (8) of iTunes.  I still had music in a folder that was not in the itunes media folder and now I can't add this music to iTunes or even play the music.  Is there anything I can do to fix this so I can add the music to iTunes?

Just try to downgrade to older ITunes version, there's serioud problem with lastest ITunes upgrade.
Time machine can fix this problem is ur latest backup was a few months ago and contains an older ITunes version.
Version 11.3 doesnt support iPod classic & 3th gen Ipod & Iphone anymore.
Its a matter of Apple politics.

  • Can't add music to iTunes Library

As the subject states, I am no longer able to add music to my iTunes Library. If I try to add a song, it tells me that I do not have permissions to write to my Music folder. I went to the Music folder's Get Info window, and under Ownership and Permissions, this is what it said:
    You can: Read & Write
    Details:
    Owner: admin (lock is locked)
    Access: Read & Write
    Group: admin
    Access: Read & Write
    Others: No Access
By the way, 'admin' is my short name. I have tried repairing my permissions with Disk Utility, but it did not correct anything in my Music folder. I have looked at permissions for other folders, and some say 'staff' as the group. Should I change the group to that? This is becoming very frustrating. If anyone knows what may be going on here, please _do not hesitate_ to tell me.

Have you tried authorizing your computer? In iTunes go up to Store, then Authorize Computer. Type in your user name and password and click "Authorize". You will then get a pop-up window stating if your authorization was successful or not. Hopefully this will give you access to do as you please with your Music Library.

  • Cannot add music to iTunes

I've just put some new music on my external hard drive, and now want to add it to iTunes. I've tried both the "Add folder to iTunes" and "Add files to iTunes" options, as well as dragging and dropping both the folder and music separately from windows explorer, but nothing works. iTunes will however play the music on my external hard drive that I've added previously.
I'm using the latest version of iTunes (10.0.1.22), and am running Windows XP SP2. This is driving me crazy, can anyone please help?

running iTunes as ADMINISTRATOR in WINDOWS 7 will shut off the drag and drop music feature, quit iTunes and run it as a regular user NO admin option checked in the properties and compatibility tab

  • Help Iphone 5 trying to add music from itunes version 10

I just got an iphone 5 and I want to add music from my itunes, which is version 10. when i tried to add music it said that the iphone 5 requires the itunes version 11.1 or later. so, i tried to download the latest itunes and it said that: "This update requires OS X version 10.6.8 or later." My computer is mac version 10.5.8. Somebody please help..

Get more information about your computer. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then  "About This Mac".  Write down what it says about "version"and report that here.  Now continue to "More Info..."  Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present).
If you have a PPC Mac you cannot sync your idevice without a newer computer.  See the end of this post for options.
If it says you have an Intel Mac you can upgrade to Snow Leopard, but check system requirements first:
    Snow Leopard 10.6 Technical Requirements - http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
You can buy Snow Leopard at:
Snow Leopard disc source - http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
After installing run the updater to 10.6.8, then upgrade iTunes.

Options if you cannot upgrade:  iTunes Store purchases can already be downloaded directly. Use iTunes Match to put non-Store music in iCloud, then download to your device from there.  Backup your device directly to  iCloud over a wireless connection.  Photos can be downloaded from the Camera Roll using iPhoto or Image Capture.

  • How to add music to itunes library from ipod

how do i add music from an ipod to itunes library without losing what i already have

1). Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you only want to copy your purchases to the computer that can be done using iTunes, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (including purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
    Floola Mac & Windows
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive
