Add Network Share to the Favourites Menu

Hi all,
My Macs are bound to AD and OD. I'd like to know how to get the network share (userarea) of the current user logged in into the Favourites Sidebar. I want to do this so when the user goes to save their work, they can select their user area from the dropdown menu.
Their userarea is displayed in the Dock so they can drag and drop files into it but would be great if it was in the Favourites Sidebar as well.
I would imagine you could do it by editing the "sidebar.plist" and serve it through OD but I wouldn't know what to put in the plist to get it to point to the logged in users network share.

The default value of the command keys you create should be "StikyNot.exe"
(Since it is in the system32 folder, you do not have to enter the full path)
Omit the %1 part of the command because you only want Windows to launch the app, not try to pass anything to it.

Only Favorites can be displayed as a submenu of the Start Menu. You can convert your Firefox bookmarks to IE favorites as follows:

Your suggestion worked perfectly. I can't believe there is nothing in any of the instructions I have seen online at the Yahoo and Apple help sites about the making sure the right default account is checked. I don't think I was even aware there was a "default account" setting. Thank you so much.

Add an item to the Apple menu

I would like to know how to add an item to the Apple menu using OSX Lion, any help would be more than appreciated.

1. You don't need to use Apple Menu Options for this; to add the item, double-click your hard disk's icon in the Finder and then open the System Folder. You can change the contents of the Apple Menu Items folder as if it was any other folder.
2. Open the Preferences folder in the System Folder and drag the item named Apple Menu Options Prefs inside to the desktop. Try opening the control panel again.

How do i add a network share to the library without copying everything

i have a windows machine at my house that is set up as a media server with locally shared folders. my old ibook g4 simply doesn't have the space to store all of the media i have. i mounted the shared folder using samba but every time i open a song or a movie itunes needs to copy everything onto the local computer before playing it. i need someway to tell itunes to open the files off of the share and stop filling up my hard-drive by copying everything to the local itunes folder. all i want is a way to add the mounted volume to the library while keeping the files on the network share.

Simply Command+K and add the SMB shares accordingly using the SMB:// prefix.

Add network share on client desktop

Upon a group of SL clients logging into our SL server, I want them to see a network share, similar to how a group folder shows up on the desktop as a "connected server drive".
I can not figure out how to do this. I can get the group folder to mount automatically, but not a different afp share.

I should add that I tried the things mentioned at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2089664?start=0&tstart=0
and have searched for any information on getting a folder to show up on the desktop of a client.
No luck yet... can you please offer a suggestion?

Problem when trying to add a link to the left menu item!!!!

I am trying to put a new menu group on the left menu,with a link in that group for every one.On checking with the customization guide this is what i did
for one link i did add the following lines in each of the files
1)xlWebAdmin.properties
- menuGroup.Misc-Menu=Misc Menu
- menuItem.Misc-Menu.My-Nomination=My Nomination
2) xlDefaultAdmin.properties
- menuItem.Misc-Menu.My-Nomination.link=mynomineefrm?showfrm
3) repacked the war and the ear
4) Restarted my server
When I login into the administration(xelsysadm) page I didnt see any menu item with name "My Nomination" which i am supposed to see.
secondly it shows the menu item when ever i select some group and click on assign menu item.
Moreover, when I try to assign this menu item to all users group it gives me this error
On browser it prints

Even you have to assign first to System Administrator group
First go to Manage Group
Select System Administrator Group
Select Menu Item
Click Assign and select newly craeted Menu Item and click Confirm
These are the steps to see the new menu item. To make this menu item working:
you'll have to write action class, form bean class and you'll have to create JSPs and make their entry in struts-config as welll as in Tiles-def.xml
Then your menu item will work.

How to delete ADD-INS listing in the "Tools menu

I deleted a couple of "ADD-Ins" I didn't need anymore "CalcTax" and "cTax"
stored in this directory: "C:\Users\John\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AddIns"
The mistake I made is that they where active and now I can't delete the two menu listed in the "Tools Menu".
I tried to redo the Add-Ins but it doesn't work.
I ran the "Remove Control macro" below but no success.
I checked the Registry for the two Add-Ins but found nothing.
Below is one of the two Add-Ins macro but not the original one. I deleted them.
and "No Backup"
Does anyone know how I can remove the two entries in the "Tools menu.

To remove any item from the menus...
Right-click in the menubar area and choose Customize (a dialog box is displayed).
Drag the unwanted menu item off of the menu and drop it over the worksheet.
Close the dialog box.

Is it possible to add UNC paths to the favorites menu with a batch script?

Hi all,
at present the office I work in uses mapped drives, this works well for people in our office but one people talk with the other offices things go south as they have no idea what a t drives is. So I would like to move my users away from the mapped drive and
add the folder locations to the favorites menu.
Short of making the shortcuts and asking each person to copy them in to the folder location there must be a way to write a script to do this? I have looked at using mklink but that failed.
This is the code I used
mklink /d %userprofile%\Favorites\tech \\brisfp01\Tech
Any other ideas?

Add a link to the navigation / menu bar

I would like to add a home button infront of the My Workspace button in the navigation/menu bar at the top of my Vibe page.
What jsp of file should I edit to achieve this?

I didn't look for that JSP, but used the branding for a high level "menu" AND wrote my own JSP to have a dynamic horizontal menu based on a portion of the workspace tree. The problem with changing Vibe's grey menu bar is that any upcoming updates might destroy your tweak. I have a few of those I need to keep in mind whenever an update or patch is done.
With my JSP adding, removing or modifying workspaces/folders in the identified branch automagically changes on the fly generated horizontal menu with the next refresh/visit of the landing page using the JSP. The menu can be for any branch of your workspace tree. If a visitor doesn't have access to a workspace or folder, the menu skips right over it automagically as well.

It allows you to reorder the menu items and even drop some workspaces/folders from the menu with a simple trick explained in the article.
To see the JSP at work, go to CSDECSO - Conseil scolaire de district des écoles catholiques du Sud-Ouest or any of our 30 or so school web sites being implemented within our existing Vibe instance. You won't be able to change the tree branch, but you will see the menu. Some schools have slightly different menu choices, if you poke around long enough to find these differences. I just made them accessible to the public a few weeks ago.
Don't forget to use the integrated GoogleTranslate (generally near the Vibe printer icon in upper right corner beneath the branding and grey menu) to convert the bulk of our sites' content to any one of the 60 or so languages supported by Google. HELP - Windows 7 saves an entry of a connection to a network location in the start menu

Hello Technet.
I have a question regarding what the title says.
After i connected to a network path on a client PC, from the start menu search, like; \\Fileserver01\Files$,
even after a restart of the client, it still saves the entry in start menu if i just type in "\\"
Is there any way to turn this off?
I dont want my users to get any good ideas if you know what i mean ;)

Intel imac network view via the go menu (problem)

why can I not use the go menu and go to network and view? it does not give me a window. I can open my hard drive and see it there, I should be able to use my menu option

This was a problem with Mac OS X in the past and the work around was not to auto login. Try changing that setting and see what happens.
In System Prefs/Accounts it is located under Login Options. If Login Options is grayed out you need to click the lock at the bottom and enter your Admin Password.
Let us know what happens.

Is it possible to add Library permanently to the GO menu?

I need to back up my website project that is listed under GO/Library/Application support. I like to back up frequently so I'd like to access it easily.

Sure it is but why not simply drag it to the Finder Sidebar, it's a lot easier to locate then. If for some reason you want it permanently it's always there, just hold down the Option Key when clicking the Go menu.

Why can't I add network volumes to the sidebar? It just spits them back out?

So it appears the most useful feature of the sidebar, which appears in each and every open dialogue box, is to provide me quick access to working folders.
I work in an office which, unsurprisingly, uses a file server to store files.
Naturally it would be very convenient to drag the various network drives from the file server into my sidebar.
It appears this is just not supported. It just "spits them out" as soon as I drag it in.
Am I doing something wrong? (OSX Lion)
How can the sidebar implementation be so collossally shortsighted? Not everyone stores files on their local mac!

The servers should appear in your sidebar under "shared" whenever they are mounted.
