Add new elements to existing document

I have a table with an xmltype column. Is there a way to add additional elements to a document in the database using the built-in SQL functions like updatexml? In the documentation I just see examples of updating the text between elements.

Hi,
Similar to an updateXML() in PLSQL, there is something called insertXML() too. I think this is what you are looking for.
Thanks,

  • E-sourcing Add new Element in Actions dropdowmn list in Project Document

    Hi Evrybody ,
    I am trying to add new element in Actions dropdown list in Project document (in drop down already has Create Auction ,Create demand ,create agreement, Create RFx   elements ) .
    i am able to change the text of existing but not able to add new elements .
    Could you please help me on this .
    Thanks
    Pavan Reddy.

    Pavan,
    My understanding is that the Actions tab is used to execute scripting.  Some of the scripting is embedded in the system, like Create RFx or Create Auction.  This you can not change easily.
    If you want to add a new item to the Actions for Projects create a Script Definition with Script Type: Toolbar and Class: Project (1100).  Keep in mind that you will also have to have a functioning Script Definiton.

  • Can't add new element to model node from web service

    Hi Folks,
    we are using the old WebService (not adaptive one) for calling a service on XI. We are reusing the same service for loading the data and also sending them back to the backend to modify, delete or add new elements. Request and response tree structure consist basically of the same structure.
    Now everything works fine so far except adding a new element to the model tree.
    So what are we doing:
    After calling the service for reading (and invalidate on the response), we copy the received data from response node into the request node. All the view forms are bound to the model elements in the request.
    Modifying single attributes worked just fine (from dialog and programatically). A new element we add to the model tree shows up in the dialog and seems to work equally fine, but when we trigger the service call to send the collected data, every change to the model data is send except the new added element. It just won't be send.
    What's the problem here? Seems to me this must be somehow related to the supplying relation role maybe.
    What code do you need to look at and how do I mark code in the new forum editor so it gets displayed properly formatted?
    Thanks,
      ok

    Hi,
    Can you tell me which code are you using currently for transferrring the data? It might help me to figure out what your problem is.

  • I updated the default task.eddmod edd doc to add new elements to my catalog. How do I have the new element appear on FM application?

    After updating the default task.eddmod.edd document, I have:
    Created a dtd from the updated edd.
    Opened Structure Tools > Structure Application Designer. Selected existing application (dita_1.2_task), selected my updated edd, dtd, and task.template, and saved it.
    The new elements I created in the edd appear in my application now.
    Do I need to create a dtd and update the structure application designer every time I update my edds?

    It looks like you've got two posts with the same question (in the structured forum) .. I'm just replying to this one.
    When you update an EDD you must always import that EDD into the associated template. The structured application only references the template, so changing the EDD will have no effect until you import that into the template.
    I have no idea how the Structure Application Designer works, so can't speak to that, but I'm sure the fundamental relationship of EDD to template still applies. If your EDD changes affect the model itself (adding/removing elements or attributes), you'll need to modify the associated DTD as well. Keep in mind that you can't just change the DITA DTDs and expect the result to be DITA compliant. There are rules about how to make these changes by "specializing" the model. If you change the model it may work for you in FM, but it may not work when you try to process or edit with other DITA-compliant tools.
    One other thing to keep in mind is that if your change is something that you'd expect to be available in other topic types (other than "task"), you'll need to make the same edits to the other topic structure applications.

  • Can't add web page to existing document

    I am new to Acrobat 9 Pro (running on Win7). I love the feature where you can convert a web page to pdf and then add a wab page to an existing document. My probelm is that I saved one page as a pdf then went to a different link on that website that appears very similar and tried to add that page to the first one. As many times as I tried, my second page will not appear.
    I did try going to an entirely different website and adding a page to the very same document and I was successful.
    Is it possible that the program won't add the similar page because it is recognizing the page to be the same? Is there a setting to override this? I need to be able to save multiple web pages that appear the same way to one document quickly and easily.

    Thank you for your response. It is possible to do this but I need the 'Add web page to existing doc' feature to work for me. I will be converting a large number of similar pages to pdf and this feature would be perfect if it worked as it is intended. Going back later to insert pages is counter-productive for me.

  • How do you add new songs to existing playlist on iphone 5?

    Before the update a few months ago I was able to add new songs to an existing playlist by hitting the Edit button.  Now I can only delete songs off of a playlist.  Has anyone figured out how to add new songs or do I just have to create a new playlist?  I really hope I don't because they will all be the same then.

    What could I do to be able to add more pages to a document?

  • How to add new infoobject to existing cube or dso?

    Hi all,
    Can we add new infoobject to exixting cube in BW 3.5 ver? if yes how can we add? Please provide me steps.
    Thank you.
    Sunil

    Hi Sunil,
    If you want to add new info object to the IC or DSO which is already holding data - then you need to make a copy of that particular DSO/IC and load the data into dummy.
    Now delete the data from the IC/DSO to which you want to add the new info object. once the data is deleted it will allow you to add new info object to you IC/DSO.
    save it and activate the IC/DSO
    load the data from Dummy DSO and from new run on wards the newly updated info object will also get updated(historical data will not be updated if its newly added to DS as well).
    If you want the historical data for the newly added field then you need to drop the compelte data and need to extract from source.
    Note: You can't include the new info objects are change the existing info objects if there is data exist in the IC/DSO

  • How to add new class to existing DC (Web Dynpro project)

    Hi,
    How can I add new class to an existing DC (Web Dynpro project)?
    I tried adding it using File - New - Other - Java - Class, but after a build of the DC the new class (and its contents    ) was completely removed.
    Then I created a new DC (java project) and created a new class in that DC. This went fine, but I got into problems because of circular referencing between the new & the old DC, so no build was possible.
    This can't be difficult, does somebody knows how to do it?
    My temporary solution is to add the classdefinition to an exisiting .java file. Very ugly.
    Thanks,
    Jeroen

    Hi Jeroen,
    where did you create the class? If the *.java file is placed in the src/packages folder it should not be deleted by a build. (I suspect you created it in the gen_wdp folder?)

  • LDAP: Recommended way to add new objectclass to existing entries?

    Can anyone help me with the preferred way to add a new objectclass (with attrributes) to existing entries within a directory (via the javax.naming API)?
    I have an application that uses a directory of users. Each user has objectclasses "top", "person", and "inetOrgPerson" with usual attributes.
    The application needs to change to add a custom objectclass, say "ourAppClass" (and its attributes), to each existing entry within the directory. I have already successfully defined the schema for the objectclass within the directory.
    I cannot find examples showing how to add an objectclass to existing entries. Creating brand new entries with custom objectclassess is straightforward.
    When using DirContext.modifyAttributes must I define all the objectclasses again, or is there a way to send only the new objectclass and its attributes only?
    Attributes attrs = new BasicAttributes();
    Attribute classes = new BasicAttribute("objectclass");
    classes.add("top");  // do I need these?
    classes.add("person"); // do I need these?
    classes.add("inetOrgPerson"); // do I need these?
    classes.add("ourAppClass"); // in-house class
    attrs.put(classes);
    attrs.put("ourCustAtribute", "value1"); //
    DirContext.modifyAttributes(dn, LdapContext.REPLACE_ATTRIBUTE, attrs);Does someone have a good example to follow?

    I think I have answered my own question. I think I need to use a ModificationItem to add an attribute to the objectclass.
    final ModificationItem[] classModification= new ModificationItem[1];
    classModification[0] = new ModificationItem(DirContext.ADD_ATTRIBUTE,
                new BasicAttribute("objectclass", "ourAppClass"));
    dirContext.modifyAttributes(dn, classModification);

  • Add new Column to existing Primary Key

    Hi,
    I have a Primary key consisting of 6 columns. Now i want to add new 7th column to that existing key.
    Do i need to drop the existing primary key and then recreate agian with 7th field or is there any other way?
    Regards,
    Jayesh

    I think what Joel was really saying is that dropping/recreating a PK is the only way to change the PK column list in version 6 - 9. Who knows about in 10g? Though I doubt that this has changed.
    If the table only has one or two more columns that are not part of the key you might consider converting the table to being an IOT (indexed organized table).

  • How to add new elements in an array of Objects of Type Figure??

    I have a Figure class which has many attributes(variables). Then I create an array of Figures for example
    Figs[] figures = new Figure[18];
    Later I need to add new Figures to this array at different positions. In my case I have to use the same array.
    Is there any way so I can add new Figure elements to this array??
    If u have an answer to this question, please share with me.
    Thanks
    Amit

    There are many ways to solve this problem, including creating new arrays as needed, and using System.arraycopy() to move things around. However, the best way is to use ArrayList, as discussed above.
    What you cannot do is use toArray() and cast back to String[]. Object[] is not a subclass of String[], even if all of the objects in the Object[] are Strings!
    There are two ways to get around this. Create a String[] and copy the Object[] into it with System.arraycopy, or the easy way, which is to use the toArray(Object[]) method. It allows you to specify by example the array class you wish returned. If the array is large enough, it will populate the array directly, otherwise it will create a new one of the same base class. That means any of the following approaches will work, the final decision is mostly a matter of style:
        // create a zero length array to pass as an exemplar
        public final static String STRING_ARRAY_TYPE[]  new String[0];
        String s[] = (String[]) a.toArray(STRING_ARRAY_TYPE);Or:
        String t[] = new String[a.size()];
        a.toArray(t);Or:
        String t[] = a.toArray(new String[a.size()]);;I prefer the first approach generally, and it avoids any race conditions between the evaluation of the ArrayList size and the toArray; however, since ArrayList methods are not synchronized, you probably should do some synchronizing of your own.
    Hope this helps.
