Add symbol into report column
Hi
In BI 11G, I have created up and down arrow for Total Orders depends upon the Air Date.
but i want to put the up and down arrow depends upon the Previous total order value. if the first value is high, the symbol should be up arrow. if the second value is low, the symbol should be down arrow.
How can i write condition in conditional format?
Thanks
Kavi
Hi kavitha,
is the previous order value stored in a separate column? If so you can write a case statement accordingly.
eg:- case when order>5000 then 1 else 0 end;
How to do it on multiple columns conditional formatting you can check here http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2008/03/12/oracle-bi-ee-101332-conditional-formatting-based-on-multiple-columns/
UPDATED POST
iam not sure that can be achieved.....is it t do with arrows only.
Why cant you try GAUGES and give ranges to it and colour formatting when decreased then it is easily understandable and presentable.something this way
case when order between 10 and 20 then gauge(red colour)
when order between 90 and 100 then gauge(yellow colour) end
hope helps you.
Cheers,
KK

How to render special characters (math symbols) in report column headers
I want to enter the following characters in a report column heading: ng ⁄ μl
In text items they render correctly when I use the following codes:
ng ⁄ μlbut in column headings they render as
Ng / Ml
Anyone know a fix?
thanks in advance
PaulPPaul,
I used it in my Report i don't see any problem, you might want to check it again
i have seen using Μ gives 'M'.
so make sure you are using lowercase 'm'
another solution: use this "ng / µl" directly on to the column or to the header it works,
if you get anything like this "¿", then copy the "µ" symbol from Microsoft Word and paste it, i did the same :p.
Thanks

ThanksYes, I can set "Strip HTML to No" but how would I use my button template. I did create a button template under Apex and modifying theme css file, right now I would like to use this button in my report colum, basically this button will delete uploaded files from the table.
I took this idea to reate my button template: http://woork.blogspot.com/2008/06/beautiful-css-buttons-with-icon-set.html -

Need to add $ symbol in the amount column
Hi All,
i need to add a $ symbol in one of the value column in my SSRS Report.(SSRS 2008 R2).
But , the problem is $ should be Left Aligned and Value should be
right aligned. If the value is zero then also $ has to display as most left aligned as below "$ 0".
Can any one suggest me to get it done.
Thanks n advance.
bala krishnaHi balakrishna141,
Based on your description, you want to add a “$” together with the Amount in one textbox, The”$” align to the most left of the textbox and the Amount align to the most right of the textbox, right?
I have tested on my local environment and find there is some limitation of using the HTML and as you mentioned that the solution provided by Visakh16 have some little problem, so ,we can use another method by creating an rectangle(The rectangle should be
the same size as the cell of the table) and put two textboxes (TextBox1 to put the value of “$”,TextBox2 to put the value of Amount) in it and replace the [Amount] TextBox with this rectangle, then set the properties of both TextBox(TextBox1:TextAlign=Left,
TextBox2:TextAlign=right)
Details steps below for your reference:
Create an rectangle and place 2 textboxes inside a rectangle
In the first text, put the $ and right align it
In the second textbox, put the value of amount and left align it
Make sure that the width of the first textbox1 is less as it just has to accommodate the $ symbol and give more width for the second textbox2 of amount

Interactive Report Column Formating '%' symbol
Hi,
I have an intercative report that shows a column displaying a number and and the sysmbol %. The source query is similar to:
SELECT my_number||'%' as display_percentile
FROM dual;
Because of this the interactive report will only show this column as a string type and not number type, therefore my math filtering options are not available. Is there a way that I can display the column as a number type and still have it display as 50%
I am using Application Express 4.1.0.00.32
Thanks in advance.

Split a field into 3 columns for a report - Shoud be done in R/3 or BW
Hi all,
I have to split a Text Description (TXTMD) into 3 columns for reporting.
This description is available in R/3 table and in BW InfoObject.
What is the best way to accomplish this task ?
Should I enhance the Extract structure and fill those 3 new ZZ fields on R/3?
Should I do it on BW side ? How, please ???
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Venkat. If the purpose of splitting is to overcome the limitation of Infoobject, I would recommend doing that in BW side for a couple reasons: You don't need worry about having R/3 transport and also if you are working on LO extractors you don't need to worry about setup tables. Secondly, it is easy to manage the fields in BW side than R/3, because you will be sending fewer fields.
thanks.

How to add a "custom" link to a report column
I have a "Tasks" report that is based on a view. the view is a union of 2 tables: "Project tasks" and "Non-project tasks", each one of them has its own form to enter the data.
I need to add a link from my report to to either form of the mentioned tables. So, if the task is project related, it should go to the "Projects Task" form, but if the task is no related to projects, the link should point to the second form.
How can I accomplish that in Apex 4.0 ?
ThanksThe view has a column for project name, if it was a non-project task, the column is defaulted to "Non-Project"Add another column to the report query (or to the view if it's a Wizard report), based on that column:
case project_name
when 'Non-Project' then '201' /* Page ID of non-project task form */
else '202' /* Page ID of project task form */
end form_page
...Then add a link to the required report column as described above by Alan, setting the target Page attribute to <tt>#FORM_PAGE#</tt>, the Name attribute of the task ID parameter to <tt>P#FORM_PAGE#_TASK_ID</tt> (the form pages will need to take task ID parameters following this naming convention), and the Value attribute to the task ID column from the view. -
How can I add extra tick-box columns to the Evaluation report template?
Is there a simple way to add additional tick-box columns to the evaluation report template? I want to have a column for every day of the week.
Are you part of a class project? We've just had another query on this template.
+Menu > View > Show Ruler/Invisibles+
The "columns" are just boxes and text aligned with tabs.
Select all of them and slide the tabs on the ruler across to tighten up the spacing.
Add more tabs to the ruler by clicking on the ruler where you want them, then right clicking on the Tab markers to change them to the type you want.
Copy and paste extra copies of the +tabs plus box+ in each line.

How to add a button as a report column
Hi everyone,
I am trying to add a button in a report as a column, thus, as the button press, one of column at current row of the report will be filled. Does anyone know how to do it?
I knew I can do check box as a report column and create a button to process it But request hopes just one button for each row as result.
Thanks!
XWI am not sure what you are trying to do exactly. Adding a button is something you can do for sure in a report ( make the PK column a link and define the link image as a button ), but am not sur what you want the button to do, is it something like <edit> that when you click on it it takes you to another page (form) to edit that record info ? if yes then this is also doable for sure....let me know

Cannot edit a field that is "Standard Report Column" when new row added
Hi everyone,
I have created a master-detail form from the wizard and within the detail report region source I have used apex_item.xxx API
example;
select C1, C2,
CASE when C2 ='N' then
apex_item.select_list_from_query(3, C3,'select a1 d, a2 r from table1', 'ENABLED', 'NO',null,null, 'f03_#ROWNUM#')
else
apex_item.select_list_from_query(3, C3,'select a1 d, a2 r from table1', 'DISABLED', 'NO',null,null, 'f03_#ROWNUM#')
END C3
from table;
All columns C1,C2,C3 are defined as "Standard Report Columns".
The results allows the column C3 field to be enabled or disabled for input depending on a condition.
The problem is when you hit the default button "Add Row" to add a new row. The row is non-editable and is populated with null values.
What I want is to allow input when a new row is inserted into the multi-row detail form.
Can any one help?
Is there a way to change the Display As field for the new row columns to "text field" from "standard report column" dynamically?I think you will need to use the old way of adding rows instead of the new one. I remember having headaches trying to get it working.

How to accessing current row report column value in Lov Query?
Hi,
which access methods (eg. bind variables, substitutions, ...) for getting the current row report column value can be used in the "Lov Query" property of a report column?
As what I know of and what I have read on the forum there are no bind variables for the report columns. For the "Link Text" property it seems that the column values exist as substitution strings (#COLUMN_NAME#). But they don't work in the Lov Query. => And would be good because of a hard parse each time the Lov query is executed.
The following post (Re: Simulating a correlated sub query in lov
is showing a solution to use package variables for temporary storage of the referenced value, but the only problem with that solution is that if a new record is added with the "Add rows to tabular form" process the package variable still contains the value from the last queried row! Is there a way (variable, APEX package, ...) to determine if the lov query is executed for a new record so that the package can return null?
I know that I could write the package in a way that the value is immediately cleared when lov_pkg.keyval is called (one time read), but then I would have to create several variables if I'm accessing the value multiple times in the query or in another query => I think an one time read solution would be very obscurely.
Thanks for your help
Patrick
http://inside-apex.blogspot.comHi Patrick,
I agree that it's a waste to continually use Ajax to go back to the server to get the contents of a dynamic select list.
There are no bind variables for any row item - but what you do have, as per my previous post, is the value of the data entered by the user in the first row. You can pass this into your application process (using get.add("VARIABLENAME", value)), which can use it to retrieve the correct LOV in your Ajax code - this will give you a "bind variable" that your process can use.
What you could do, however, is generate hidden select lists on your page - one for each possible LOV list and replace the contents of the new row's select list with the contents of the appropriate hidden select list. This is easy to do with javascript (using innerHTML functions). Obviously, though, the usefulness of this depends on the number and size of the select lists.
Even if you don't generate them to start with, you can keep a copy of any select lists returned by Ajax in the DOM for use on new rows. So, if you have retrieved a select list, you will have a copy of it in DOM which you can then copy into the new row. If you don't have the list in DOM, use Ajax to get it, store a copy of it and copy it into the new row.
Which method you use will depend on the number/size of select lists needed. If they are few in number and/or size, I would suggest generating hidden lists. If they are large, use Ajax to get them once, store them and then retrieve them from the DOM when needed.
There is another thread here where Arie recommends going to the server every time to make sure you get the most up-to-date data for the lists. If you want to follow this advice, for this reason, use get.add("VARIABLENAME", value) to pass the value to your process. If this is not an issue, you can use one of the other methods I outlined above.

Hi,
I'm working with obiee 11.1.1.6.1 and I need to add images in a report column.
I tried to follow the advices of Gerard for formulas as in
http://gerardnico.com/wiki/dat/obiee/image
but I don't see the images. I used the formula
'<img src="dir/dir/.../myimage.gif">' with data format HTML.
What wrong? Thank for your help.
