Addin for Excel

Hi Experts,
i tried the addin for Excel but when use the function "Send selection" or "Send Sheet" no data displayed or dataset created on "bi.ondemand.com".

Hi Andrea,
At first I wasn't aware of an excel addin, but after going looking I found a very old plugin that sounds like what you are describing. It seems to have been part of a trial or demo site associated with bi.ondemand.com. As of early 2011, we shut down all those demo sites leaving just bi.ondemand.com.
This plugin doesn't seem to support bi.ondemand.com and was never really supported for bi.ondemand.com so I would suggest you just ignore that plugin.

Which TDM Addin for Excel 2007?

I downloaded what I think is the latest TDM add-in for excel 2007. When I go to open my file a message comes up saying that my file has more than 65000 rows. I know the limitation is not in excel 2007. Will the add-in only load 65000 rows of data?

So the installation of the addin went smoothly? You did not have to add it in manually like in this KB?

You may want to check the specs on the trial version of excel 2007 that you have. Did you get this from the web? I don't know if Microsoft would do this, but sometimes the trial software won't have all of the features of the full version. I just installed the addin on my machine with full version of excel 2007 and was able to open a TDM file with a million random numbers stored in it.
A good way to test this would be to just create a spreadsheet file with 100,000 numbers in it, then try to open that in excel just to see if it throws the same error. That would eliminate the possibility of the addin being to blame. If the file opens without error, then you may want to check that the addin was installed correctly by referencing the KB linked above.

Adobe addin for Excel loses Print Quality settings

I have Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin from Acrobat 10.0 installed in Excel 2010. I have a workbook with numerous worksheets. Normally, the print quality is set at 600 dpi. Some of the worksheets sometimes switch randomly to 72 dpi. There are 2 problems with that. One is that it messes up the pagination which isn't a big deal. The other is that every time the print job hits a worksheet with a different dpi setting, it forces a new file instead of printing everything as one output file. Resetting the Print Quality settings and saving the file does not keep it from happening over and over. What would cause this and how can it be fixed?

Thanks for your response. I guess I should clarify a few things. The PDFMaker addin actually shows up in the printer list as 'Adobe PDF'. So, yes, I am changing the printer to Adobe PDF before I "print" to the PDF file. I do not know what a "settings file" is. Can you elaborate on that? I should also mention that this process worked fine for a couple years before it started acting weird a few months ago.
I am skeptical that the Excel file itself is the problem, only because the dpi setting is in the printer driver and is not one of the settings accessible using the VBA macro language.

SAP EPM Addin for Excel 10 - SAP BW (INA-Provider) connection

We are trying to connect with the EPM Excel Addin 10 on our SAP BW on HANA 7.4 SP7. We are trying to use the SAP BW (INA-Provider) connection as described in documentation. There is a screen where you could choose the SAP GUI connection and you have to fill in the port number and client. We are using HTTP protocoll.
But the connection doesnt work. We are facing the following error message:

There is one special thing in our SAP GUI. We have a router string for the connection. And I think there are some problems with BO tools and such connections.
Does enybody has some expierence with this connection?

We have definitely heard your frustration, and Microsoft understands the position our customers are in and we are actively working to find a solution besides a FixIt that can be deployed to remedy the issue.
We can also remove the MS14-082 Microsoft Office Security Updates for December 2014 by temporary bypassing this issue.

BI publisher Addin for Excel not showing up

Hi all,
Recently i installed the latest version of bi publisher desktop into my computer.
First i was not able to see the BI publisher tab in both the word and excel (Office 2013).
but after running the "TBMenusSetup" i am able to see the tab in word but not in excel.
Is there any solution to make this tab show up in excel?
Any help is appreciated.

I think that you need the add-on Report Generation Toolkit in order to have a choice of Excel. Standard and HTML are the only options with the standard report thatships with LabVIEW.

Beginner installing SQL Server 2014 for Excel Data Mining

Hello, I'm a complete beginner with servers but Im desperately trying to gain access to the SQL server for use with the data mining addin for excel.
Could someone please help. When I try to make a connection in Excel by choosing DATA MINING> <No Connection> New> it then asks me for a Server Name in the connect to Analysis Services box. How can I find out what my Sever name is please? I have
tried all sorts of names that I have found such as SQLEXPRESS or localhost but nothing works. It also tells me to 'Ensure that the Server is running'. Another error message I receive: No connection can be
made because 'the target machine actively refused it'.
I would be really grateful for some troubleshooting tips.

Retrieve attribute description to Excel Addin for MDS

I propose a new feature:
retrieve attribute description to Excel Addin for MDS - as
separate row, which would be above attribute-row.
This is especially useful for users - translation into other languages.

Do you think, it would help if we add description as comments of the column name. So user have to hover the mouse to see it?
Also, we already have a work item to support multiple language in the model/entity/attribute name. So based on the client OS, it would show different language for the column name. But I cannot promise when we will deliver it at this moment.

Excel Addin for MDS - break the layout of the sheet

1) breaks the layout of formatting cells
2) if I added my own rows above the row with system attributes and I apply server filter, then my rows are deleted

Excel Trying to Load PowerPivot Add-in (version 11.1.3129.0) for Excel 2010 even after Uninstalltion of the Add-in.

I am trying to Package and deploy Powerpivot Add-in for Excel 2010. I have the Powerpivot_X86_(11.1.329.0) .MSI which installs Unattended, but Uninstallation will not remove entry from COM ADD-IN list in Excel and at first re-launch (even after
Power Pivot Uninstallation) it will try to load Powerpivot add-in and will give an error.
Downloading file.///c:/Program files (x86)/Microsoft analysis services/AS Excel Client/110/Microsoft.AnalysisServices.XLHost.Addin.VSTO did not succeed.
this above path is the [InstallDir] which gets wiped off with the unistallation of the .MSI. So, before uninstallation,I stop the excel process and am running a script to delete HKCU Add-in Reg key entries.
and also, I thought it may be implicitly loading the add-in from folder such as,
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\XLstart
%appdata%\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
but nothing is installed there.
Second Issue
when I re-install,
it doesn't automatically show up in the Excel ribbon (even after reboot and even if regeistries are created at the same location) but instead we should add it through COM ADD-IN list in Excel Manually.
Appreciate any idea's and suggestion's.

is it possible to make it completely installed per system rather having user entries?

Guys, I think I solved the
issue:
Symptoms
1. Power Pivot SQL 2012 32-bit installed over the old version without
deinstalling it
2. Installed with a user with administrator rights
3. It worked under the profile with admin rights, it didn't work under the
normal users w/o admin rights and threw this error message: Downloading file.///c:/Program files (x86)/Microsoft analysis services/AS Excel Client/10/Microsoft.AnalysisServices.XLHost.Addin.VSTO
did not succeed.
4. In the admin profile, it went to the path "110": C:/Program
Files (x86)/Microsoft Analysis Services/AS Excel

5. In the normal profile, it went to the - wrong - "10" path:

Analysis
IMHO the issue lies in the fact, that the Power Pivot
installer creates two problems:
The first issue is that the path to the add-in under
the NORMAL user is simply wrong and points to a wrong location (the
"10" in the path). In the admin profile, where it was originally
installed, it points to the "110" path which is correct.
The second issue is that the installation procedure
somehow needs to create a registry key (the one under point 4 in the solution)
to complete it self and if this key already exists it fails to install and
throws up weird error messages. If you delete or rename this key, it is created
again (exactly in the same way) but then everything works out.

Master Data Services Add-in for Excel Issue

I am trying to configure MDS in the Production server. I am running into isssues.
(I was able to do the whole process successfuly in my local system - Versions are same in the local and server - Only difference is local machine is windows 7 server is Windows 2008 R2)
I have installed SQL server 2012 Enterprise Version SP1. I am able to browse the MDS URL. User has got full permissions. When I try to access the MDS via Excel I get the below error.
Can any one help me please I have spent days on this withou any joy.

I have finally found a solution for this problem! Every time I opened Excel (unless I ran as administrator) I would have to activate the MDS add-in; this was time-consuming and annoying. It seems like there was no solution posted online anywhere! Well
after much aggravation, I have finally found a solution:
Fixing the Microsoft MDS Excel Add-In so it Stays Enabled
Press the Start button (Windows button)
In the search bar type “REGEDIT”
Open regedit.exe
A pop-up will ask permission for the Registry Editor to make changes to the computer, select Yes.
In the Registry Editor expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER
In the HKEY_CURRENT_USER folder, expand in the following order: Software -> Microsoft -> Office -> Excel -> Addins
Select Microsoft.MasterDataServices.ExcelAddIn
Double-click on LoadBehavior in the right panel
In the Edit Value popup, change the value to
Press OK
Exit the Registry Editor
The excel add-in should now be active anytime you open Excel. If multiple errors occur while using the add-in, the Load Behavior may change back to 0. If that occurs simply follow these steps so the add-in will be active when Excel starts up.
I hope this helps some of you avoid the long hours of trying to find a solution to this silly problem.

BPC for excel Add-in Conflict

Hi,
I'm trying to find out if there any known excel add-ins that conflict with BPC for Excel (v7) and how the conflicts manifest themselves.
I am currently specifically interested in conflicts with SAP BW BEx Analyser but would be interested in any others also.
Would be grateful if anyone could shed some light on this.

Usually, Crashing means excel will show crashing error message and restart it.
Excel will just return excel error message. NOT BPC or 3rd Party ADD_IN error message because it happened at the EXCEL while it is processing request from BPC addin and other 3rd partty Addin. (Of course BEX is SAP product. that's why BPC NW support BEX report in 7.5 but still it is not fully integrated with MS.)
Sometimes it happens when retriving data from BPC or sending data. As you know those are critical functionality of BPC.
Again, it depends on the addin but based on my experience, Hyperion Addin and BEX addin had a problem when it runs together with BPC addin. some simple addin might not have any issue but still recommendation is not using 3rd party addin because we don't know where the error comes.

How to check from code in Excel Addin that Excel is embedded in Microsoft word

We've developed an Excel Addin in C# for Excel 2010 and it works perfectly OK. But one issue is reported very recently as below.
1. Microsoft word document is created with an embedded excel work sheet.
2. Save the document and close.
3. Open the word document and try to edit the work sheet there.
4. Following error comes.
"The program used to create this object is Excel. That program is either not installed on your computer or it is not responding.
To edit this object, install Excel or ensure that any dialog boxes in Excel are closed."
5. This is because, our Addin is initialized and one excel process is running.
6. If the Excel Addin is disabled, above work flow works correctly.
Please let me know how to determine from the Excel Addin that the excel worksheet is embedded in another applicatoin. Because I want to disable the Addin in those cases and enable it if the Excel is opened standalone. The Addin is developed in C#.

Note: Delete the Excel instance running in the background(Go to your task manager and delete it) before opening your Word document and edit your embedded Excel.
If the issue still exists, please see the article and try the solution which I copied here:
"The basic simple answer is to place a Marshal.ComReleaseObject(Wb) at the end (or better, in the Finally block) of your event handlers. This will properly allow Word and excel to handle the OLE communication by not having VSTO hang on to an instance
handle of the workbook, therefore causing the error.
And this is not carte blanche to start placing ComReleaseObject() all over your code. I have found VERY VERY few limited cases where using ComReleaseObject() in an add-in necessary. And this is one of them."

Accessing the Solver AddIn to Excel from LabVIEW

I would like to be able to set the parameters and run the Solver AddIn in Excel from LabVIEW. I know that from LabVIEW you can install the different AddIn's but is there anyway to access the actual AddIn once it has been installed?

I believe your answer is ActiveX.
Briefly, ActiveX allows application a (e.g. LabVIEW) to control application B (e.g. Excel, Word, etc.) programmatically. The kicker is that application B must export that functionality to LabVIEW. We ship an example with LabVIEW that controls Excel via ActiveX, it will give you a head start. We do not provide extended support for ActiveX programming simply because there are literally thousands of applications we could control. Microsoft might be able to shed more light with an Excel ActiveX programmer's reference or some relted document.
