Adding a second subnet

Just so I understand, you are currently using 10.0.0.0/23 but it conflicts with another network when you use VPN. So now you need to use a second subnet of 10.115.110.0/23? If this is the case, why not just renumber your current subnet to the new range. I can understand that it will be a job since you have a /23 subnet and you probably have more than 250 devices. But in the end it will be much cleaner.
(by the way don't add vlan to this discussion, this is a pure subnet thing. vlan will just add confusion until we know more)

Hello all,
Our network is 10.0.0.0/23 (subnet 1) but we need to add 10.115.110.0/23 (subnet 2).
The reason is because we need to set up a site to site vpn and to avoid an overlap we need this ip range. We use ASA5510.
What are the steps I have to take? Would a V-Lan be something to consider?
Can I also make subnet 1 communicate with subnet 2 using the ASA5510?
Thanks in advance!

    I have followed the instruction relating to Icloud connection.When i went to system preferences, my Apple address is continually rejected. I have added a second email as suggusted by an Apple site but i still get the same message. Im not told why the Apple ID/email is not accepted when it is accepted in all other Apple sites. I changed my password numerous times to ensure it wasnt the password but to no result. It continued to state that my Apple ID was the problem. I live in Malta,Europe. Have new Apple Mac Pro and Ipod. The annoying thing is that ICloud continually send me the problem notice but do nothing to tell me how to fix it? Can i switch this notice off? Help???????

    Welcome to the Apple community Yao.
    If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID.
    This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
    However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
    The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device.
    You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

  • Adding a second time capsule?

    I've reviewed some of he discussion on adding a second Time Machine but two issues arise.  The information relates to older Time Machine software and leads to confusion.
    I have an Airport Extreme with S/W version 7.6.4 and would like to add a newer Airport Extreme to back up the older one.  Reading the suggestions on adding a new TC didn't cover the newer Time Machines and I could find Apple's instructions for doing it.
    Somewhere I read that the new TC could be connected to the old TC but forgot the port setup.  Also, newer instructions for adding a second TC so both the old and the new acquire the same data could not be found.
    Hope This question is clear.  Is there help on this?

    The network setup is fairly trivial.
    Plug TC2 into TC1. (the hardware is Time Capsule.. TC as per your title.. or is it Airport Extreme as per your question..?? Time Machine is software on your computer.. and totally unrelated to the hardware.)
    Makes no difference which way around you do it. Plug WAN of the 2nd device into LAN of the 1st device. And setup the 2nd device in bridge.. wireless is up to you.. off or on?? Roaming or not??
    As far as backup is concerned.. you need to be clear in the question. And sorry it is a bit mixed up now.
    But I can tell you what you cannot do.
    You cannot backup to both units at once. You can however setup Time Machine in the computer to backup sequentially to both.
    See Q34 http://pondini.org/TM/FAQ.html
    The TC itself cannot backup to another TC.
    (extreme with hard disk amounts to the same thing.. with caveats)
    You can backup one TC to another manually via a computer.. it is slow and I do not recommend it.. if a fault creeps into backup1, you are simply copying said fault to backup2.. AND it is poor for another reason.. Time Machine cannot do it.. you will need another utility eg Carbon Copy Cloner.. and even then you will probably end up backing up a huge amount of data every time.. since TM works so strangely you cannot just backup differences.

    I am considering a Apple iMac but would be interested in adding a second monitor. Does it have to be an Apple monitor or can i add any monitor with a thunderbolt cable and DVI or vGA adapter?

    I found that the Thunderbolt input accepts the mini-DVI (in my case converter to VGA for a tutorial use monitor)
    BUT, you have to really oush it in 'til it clicks.  I thought it too loose until I tried it.  works just fine!!

  • Adding a second internal HDD on a Satellite A350-20s

    I have a Satellite A350-20s.
    It is described in its documentation as having the option to add a second internal 2"5 hdd, and a indeed there is a place reserved for it..
    The problem is that when I remove the cover to insert the hdd there is no connector.
    So, how to do it ?

    Hi buddy,
    Well, I have even checked the manual of my Satellite A350 and there you can see that the manual shows second HDD slot. But as Paolo30 wrote installing such a HDD is depending on the HDD controller You can only install such a HDD if you have a second HDD connector.
    In my opinion all its ok because the manual doesnt mention that adding a second HDD is possible on every notebook. ;)
    By the way: If you need more disk space you can use an external HDD, for example 2.5 one. Such HDDs dont need an additional power supply, you need only an USB cable to connect it. ;)

  • How to change security questions after adding a second email address?

    I'm at a loss and really really frustrated with Apple for the first time in my life.
    I've added a second email address and tried over the last 3 days on my iPad and Mac to change my security questions. There is no option present that I can see that allows you to do this without first entering the answers. (to which I don't know anymore)
    I called Apple support (even in english) and every time the call has been dropped.
    In all the years since switching to Apple I've always been impressed with the level of customer service. This is the first time that I've felt this level of sincere frustration.
    I'm not sure why I have to book a time to speak with someone. Updating or changing security questions, should be a process one can do over the internet. I'm confused either way why questions are necessary if the apple password entered was correct. It's not my bank account; why the need for such extreme security just to download an app paid for by an iTunes card!
    Any help or direction would be appreciated!!
    Thank you
    Kate

    Hello there, Kate.
    Apologies for your frustration. For your security the existing questions need to be answered before new ones can be created. The following Knowledge Base article provides some additional steps to try if you are unsure of the answers to the existing ones:
    Apple ID: All about Apple ID security questions
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5665
    Specifically:
    What should I do if I don't remember the answers to my Apple ID security questions?
    Try answering them at least once to see if you can get them right, even if you are not sure you remember the answers to your security questions.
    If you are confident you can't remember them, try one of the following:
    If you have three security questions and a rescue email address
    sign in to My Apple ID and select the Password and Security tab to send an email to your rescue email address to reset your security questions and answers.
    If you have one security question and you know your Apple ID passwordsign in to My Apple ID and select the Password and Security tab to reset your security question.
    If you have one security question, but don't remember your Apple ID password
    contact Apple Support for assistance. Learn more about creating a temporary support PIN to help Apple confirm your identity when you contact Apple Support.
    Note: If you have forgotten your password and answer your security questions incorrectly too many times in a row, you will be unable to try to answer your security questions for a period of time. During that time you will not be able to reset your password and will not have access to your account.
    Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

  • Adding a second optical drive

    Hi,
    I've have just added a second optical drive to my MP, it's an LG, "HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4120B" according to system profiler. I'v left the original apple superdrive as-is, and put this in the second bay. I'm pretty sure I've set it's jumpers to "slave", but it was in an external bay and I don't have a manual or anything, so I'm not 100% sure.
    Both drives work fine, on their own, but they don't seem to want to work together. Programs seem to have to wait for the 2nd drive to finish whatever it is it's doing, before they can get access to 1st drive (or vice-versa).
    I was under the impression that both drives can be working at the same time, and it would seem pointless having two drives if they can't work at the same time?
    I don't have to change anything about the original superdrive when adding a second drive, do I?

    Looking at your specs. the drive is an LG. I have an LG as well not the same model but I set my jumper to Cable Select, that is what worked and it is the same setting as the original Sony SuperDrive.

  • Adding a Second Airport Express

    Is there a trick to adding a second Airport Express?  My network is created by an Airport Extreme.  Six months ago, I added an Airport Express to get better coverage upstairs (no problems).  Now I want to add a second Airport Express to extend coverage to the back of our house.  I plug in the Airport Express but it never shows in the Airport Utility.  I have tried over and over and it never appears.

    The second Express can "extend" the signal provided by the AirPort Extreme, but it cannot "extend" the signal from the AirPort Express that is already "extending".
    The Express always needs to be located where it can receive a strong signal from the main router in order to "extend" that signal.
    Might that be the issue here?  The second Express is possibly located too far from the AirPort Extreme?
    If we need to do some more checks, is your Mac runnign OS X 10.6.8 as your profile indicates?

  • Added a second IP to our server = Now users can't log-in

    Hi,
    I had a server that was working fine. It had one external IP address. I then added a second external (dedicated) IP address to the same ethernet port, by adding a second port in "Network Preferences" and manually typing in the IP configuration - just as I did for the original ethernet interface when the server was originally configured.
    The reason I added a second IP address is so that I could run Apache2 on port 80 on the new IP while continuing to run Apache1.3 on port 80 of the original IP.
    Of course now I've screwed up the reverse DNS and such and my users can't login over AFP (though SMB is ok). My initial IP has a properly configured reverse lookup, the new IP does not. The new IP is using the ISP's default domain name.
    In a situation like this, am I supposed to configure both IPs to resolve to the same computer name? myServer.company.com ? Or should each IP resolve differently..
    Thanks
    Woody

    Of course now I've screwed up the reverse DNS and

    How do the users connect to AFP? WAN or LAN, Hostname or IP ?

    Reverse lookups (PTR records) shouldn't come into it. If users use a hostname to connect then all you will need is an A record to convert the hostname to an IP. If they use an IP to connect, then no DNS is accessed. So if you cannot connect directly using the IP address then it suggests firewall or config - test for open 548 port etc.

  • Itunes page pops up continually on the pc since we added a second ipod. how do I stop the pop up? help/ to the same pc

    itunes page pops up continually on my windows Vista pc since we added a second ipod and sync it to the same pc. How do I stop the pop ups??

    Many thanks lllaass,
    The Touch Copy third party software for PC's is the way to go it seems and although the demo is free, if you have over 100 songs then it costs £15 to buy the software which seems not a lot to pay for peace of mind. and restoring your iTunes library back to how it was.

  • Problem with adding a second Categories field to my Enterprise Wiki Page template

    I wanted to add a second category field beside the default wiki category. So I did the following steps:-
    Inside my enterprise wiki site collection, I added a new Site Column, named “customer” with a managed metadata type.
    Then I added the site column to the “Enterprise Wiki Page” content type.
    After that using the SharePoint Designer , I added the new “Customer ” column to my EnterpriseWiki.aspx page layout.
    The result was that I got a new category field , but I am facing these two problems:-
    When selecting items for the new metadata column, the items are not clickable, unlike the default Wiki Category field, which allow users to click on the terms , as follow:-
    The new category column was not displayed inside the Tree View , same as for the default Wiki category, as follow:-
    So can anyone advice how I can solve these two problems ? Thanks

    The Visio Web Part displays Visio diagrams that are located in SharePoint.  Once you log out it won't have access to your desktop anymore.  Instead you should upload the Visio document to a SharePoint library and then reference it from
    there.  It would be nice if it was integrated into a single process, but I suspect its not something MS thought enough people would do to spend the time writing the extra code to integrate it.  So at least for now its a two step process.

    Please remember to mark your question as "answered" if this solves your problem.
    so to add a visio diagram , we need to do the following:-
    1. upload the visio to SP.
    2. add a web part.
    3. Browse for the Visio drawing.
    by defualt there is no way to directly upload a new Visio diagram...

  • Adding a second household iMac under my owner name and iTunes account?

    We have 2 iMac's in the house. To simplify things, I added all the household iphones and ipads and ipods of the family only to my imac machine, and only under my itunes account.
    So when ever the family wants to add apps, movies, anything in itunes, I use my only imac to do this since all itunes purchaes are only under my one itunes account. All our household-family i-Devices are registered under my itunes account, so that everything I purchased can be easily added or shared between any one of the household i-devices.
    But.... on our second household imac, that iMac was originally registered under one of the kids name. They do not use itunes on their iMac (the second machine).
    If they want music or movies, or apps added to their iphone, we plug that into my imac only so everything can be shared via only my itunes account (remember, all the iphones and ipads are registered to my itunes account only).
    So they never plug their i-Devices into the second household imac, only mine.
    Soooo.... I was wondering if I factory-restore the second household imac, fire it up, and re-register that second Imac under my name and itunes acct, would this make it possible to also share all of my itunes purchases (mirror) onto that second iMac in the house?
    So in that way, they could use the second iMac and itunes mirrored on the second machine (having re-registered to my account) to load itunes stuff onto their i-Devices?
    In other words, if a person had two imacs that they owned, both registered to one owner, then signed into itunes on both machines with only their itunes account info, would that extend the itunes stuff in iMac #1 to iMac #2?
    Like having two or more iPhones under one itunes account (for sharing purchases), does this method also work for two (or more) iMacs as if both were owned by one person.
    I know.... there are probably other ways to share itunes purchases between machines and different accounts, but I hoped to keep it simple. Just have both imacs under my name, my one itunes account. Wouldn't that be fairly easy?
    When we added the other iPads and iPhones under my machine, under my itunes account, that method has worked great for sharing.
    So if someone wants songs. movies, whatever purchased under my itunes account, added to their i-Device, they just bring it to me and tell me what they want as far as music/apps/movies, and I easily add it to their i-Device. No pain, no sweat.
    I just wanted to "also" add that ability to a second imac in the house. And thought to do so, I could just factroy-restore that second imac, and re-register it under my name only, both machine now under one owner. Then fire up itunes and sign into my itunes account on the second machine.
    PS. factory restoring this second iMac is not an issue since about the only thing we would have to save off and transfer are their safari bookmarks.
    Oh.... And since my iMac has been updated to Lion via the app store, could a second machine registered under my name also share that same app store Lion upgrade? Or is Lion one upgrade per machine, per the same owner? Not installable on two machines, under that same owner?
    (Buying Lion a second time is no big beal, however)
    But mainly, my question is with re-registering that second iMac under my name, as with the first imac.
    Or think of it as if I were to buy someones used iMac, and add it to my ownership.
    Can iTunes then be shared or mirrored between two iMac's? One owner?

    I guess my issue then is just with itunes...
    I was looking at the solution the long way around originally, I guess.
    I read somewhere that one could have 5 computers (iMac's in my case) under one itunes account.
    But the i-Devices can only be linked or synced to one computer.
    Sounds fair.
    So... on this second iMac, how can I mirror my itunes media to that second machine?
    The easiest way.
    Can that be done?
    So my itunes media can be accessed on both iMac's?
    That second iMac can be apple-registered to the other family member, and still can be setup to acces "my" itunes media?
    BTW.... I do have my itunes media-purchases on an external hard drive already. Always have done it that way.
    I was hoping I could "share" that itunes media drive between the two machines. My itunes account.
    So no matter what computer a device (iphone) is synced to, the same "itunes" media will be available for syncing,
    mirrored, between the two computers?

  • Adding a second printer of the same model

    I am currently printing successfully to two printers on my AEBS, an Epson C86 and an Epson CX7400. I am attempting to add another Epson CX7400. The Print/Fax panel allows me to add the third printer and the Airport Utility recognizes it. However, when I print to the third printer it never prints. Yet if you look to the completed jobs for that printer, the job shows as having been printed.
    I've restarted the computer and printer after adding it to the print/Fax panel in the hopes that that might help but with change. I've changed the name of the second CX7400 thinking the process might need to differentiate printers by their names. That didn't help either.
    All the while, both the original CX7400 and C86 still faithfully print. Is it just that two of the same model printers can't be networked together?

    It looks like the AEBS keeps track of the printers via the model number supplied as part of the USB Plug and Play standard.
    I guess the Apple engineers never figured someone would want two if the same printer on the same base station, (or else they figured that noone would need more than 2 printers per AEBS.)
    You may have to get a stand-alone print server for the new printer.

  • Adding a second ExpressRoute connection to an Azure virtual network with networkconfig.xml

    We are trying to add a second ExpressRoute connection to a vNet in an Azure subscription. We have already successfully completed the connection to our first ExpressRoute (we are using the Exchange Provider method) using a combination of the virtual network
    GUI and powershell cmdlet tools.
    However... the GUI only supports adding one site-to-site VPN via ExpressRoute.
    The method for adding a secondary site-to-site connection is to export the network configuration (via the Azure portal) and edit the resulting NetworkConfig.xml file - and then re-import this via the portal.
    All good, in theory.
    The NetworkConfig.xml file exported from the gui:
    <Gateway>
    <ConnectionsToLocalNetwork>
     <LocalNetworkSiteRef name="XXXX">
      <Connection type="Dedicated" />
     </LocalNetworkSiteRef>
    </ConnectionsToLocalNetwork>
    </Gateway>
    In conjunction with MS Support (with whom we are still engaged), we determined the following should work:
    <Gateway>
    <ConnectionsToLocalNetwork>
     <LocalNetworkSiteRef name="XXXX">
      <Connection type="Dedicated" />
     </LocalNetworkSiteRef>
     <LocalNetworkSiteRef name="YYYY">
      <Connection type="Dedicated" />
     </LocalNetworkSiteRef>
    </ConnectionsToLocalNetwork>
    </Gateway>
    However, attempting to import this generates the following error message:
        "The gateway in virtual network site XXX-XXX-XX referenced multiple local network sites and uses a connection type different than 'IPsec' for at least one of the connections. If a gateway references more than one local network site, the connection
    type to all local network sites must be 'IPsec'. 'IPsec' is the default connection type."
    This appears to suggest multiple ExpressRoute connections on a single vNet are not supported, which would be contrary to the MS FAQ here:
        Can I have one virtual network connected to more than one ExpressRoute circuit?
        Yes. You can link a single virtual network with up to 4 ExpressRoute circuits. All ExpressRoute circuits must be in the same continent. They can be ordered through different service providers and in different locations.
    (from <link to ms site snipped>)
    Does anyone have any idea how we should proceed?
    Thanks

    Hi Rich,
    It looks like you are trying to combine S2S and ExpressRoute. Although at some point in the future we will have the ability to have them coexist, you cannot do so today. Therefore, you must delete the S2S gateways and create ExpressRoute gateways.
    You could refer the following link for details:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn606292.aspx
    Can I use site-to-site and point-to-site connectivity for virtual networks in conjunction with ExpressRoute?
    No. A virtual network connected to an ExpressRoute circuit cannot be used with site-to-site and point-to-site.
    Regards,
    Malar.

  • Adding a second hard drive for my W520

    I'd like to add a second drive for my W520.  I need more space to run vmware for demonstrations.  I was reading in this article - http://www.storagereview.com/lenovo_thinkpad_w520_upgrade_guide
    That I could add a second drive by removing the cd drive and adding some kind of adapter.
    Does anyone know the par number for that adapter?
    Also, I'd like a 7200 rpm drive for this additional one - I don't need SSD.
    Oh, and a part number for that would be great, too, if you know it.
    Thanks!
    Jon

    'afternoon.
    i know you mentioned not needing an SSD, but if you don't use WWAN, have you at all considered an mSATA SSD installed under the keyboard? you could run the OS/swap/temp/apps from it, then use the platter drive for data/documents and keep your bay flexible for addtional HDDs or the optical drive.
    just a thought...
