Hello All,
I am trying to add an attachment to a DOM generated XML document, does anyone have any idea as to how I amy be able to do this.
Hi
Happen to see your posting. Did you get any response for your question. I have a similar requirement. If you have any pointers, please let me know. Thanks for your help in advance.

Adding XML Declaration and Document Type Declaration.
I'm using Oracle's XML Class Generator C++ version 1.0.2.0.0. I can create classes from a defined external DTD and create my XML document. But the document does not contain the XML Declaration <?xml version='1.0?> nor does it contain the Document Type Declaration <!DOCTYPE root-element-name SYSTEM "system-identifier">. What do I need to do to get these as part of my XML document? Does the class generator have methods to do this? Could someone show me an example?
If you invoke the print method on the top-level ELEMENT, you get
just the body of the document with no DTD or XMLDecl. if you invoke
print on the top level NODE (the DOCUMENT node), then the output
document will contain the XMLDecl and DTD.
So please try to print from DOCUMENT node. -
Below is a method which reads a specific file and uses xml dom to find some values
public void createDBFromXML(File file){
try {
DocumentBuilderFactory dbf = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
DocumentBuilder db = dbf.newDocumentBuilder();
Document document = db.parse(file);
document.getDocumentElement().normalize();
//System.out.println("Root element "+document.getDocumentElement().getNodeName());
NodeList node;
//node = document.getElementsByTagName("cat");
node = document.getElementsByTagName("question");
final int N = 4;
Question q;
for (int i = 0; i < node.getLength(); i++) {
Node firstNode = node.item(i);
if (firstNode.getNodeType() == Node.ELEMENT_NODE) {
Element element = (Element) firstNode;
String question;
String[] selection;
int answer; int category;
NodeList qElemntList = element.getElementsByTagName("q");
Element qElement = (Element) qElemntList.item(0);
NodeList qE = qElement.getChildNodes();
//System.out.println("q:"+ ((Node)qE.item(0)).getNodeValue());
question = ((Node)qE.item(0)).getNodeValue();
selection = new String[N];
NodeList c1ElemntList = element.getElementsByTagName("c1");
Element c1Element = (Element) c1ElemntList.item(0);
NodeList c1E = c1Element.getChildNodes();
//System.out.println("q:"+ ((Node)c1E.item(0)).getNodeValue());
//Node node = c1E.item(0);
selection[0] = ((Node)c1E.item(0)).getNodeValue();
System.out.println(node == null);
NodeList c2ElemntList = element.getElementsByTagName("c2");
Element c2Element = (Element) c2ElemntList.item(0);
NodeList c2E = c2Element.getChildNodes();
//System.out.println("q:"+ ((Node)c2E.item(0)).getNodeValue());
selection[1] = ((Node)c2E.item(0)).getNodeValue();
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}the file looks like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<c1>choice1</c1>
<c2>choice2</c2>

A valid XML file always has a defined encoding. If nothing is defined in the XML header then it's UTF-8. If your XML file doesn't define anything else and still contains non-UTF-8 encoded data, then it's invalid. -
Problems with XML Instance Generator
Hi.
I still have problems with the XML instance Generator. I had the problem other people have commented here before:
parsing a grammar: newspaper.dtd
generating document #1

I read somewhere that xercesImpl.jar was necessary. I have downoladed a version of it of about 3 Mb size, and now the message I receive is the following:

after executing the command: java -jar xmlgen.jar -dtd newspaper.dtd
All .jar files coming with the xmlgen.zip are in the same directory where I type the command. Does anybody know what am I doing wrong?
Thanks to all.Hi,
I am also getting the same problem.
Thanks

Can you customize what folder MAIL goes to when adding attachments?
Can you customize what folder MAIL goes to when adding attachments?
My friend has 2 email addresses for businesses.
He has invoices in folders for both, and wants to set up the Mac like this:
When he writes from one email address and attaches documents - he want the Mac always to go to the corresponding folder for that company of his. Same for the other email address...
Make sense?
Can this be done?
Thanks in advance....Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether your problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -
ANN: XML Class Generator for Java Available
The Oracle XMCL Class Generator for Java is now available as an
initial beta release on the Oracle Technology Network at
http://technet.oracle.com. Select 'xml' from the Technology menu.
The XML Class Generator will generate a set of Java source files
based on an input DTD. The generated Java source files can then
be used to construct, optionally validate, and print a XML
document that is compliant to the DTD specified. This is an early
beta release and has the following features:
* Creates Java Classes from DTDs to enable the programmatic
construction of XML documents.
* Supports validation mode to assist debugging.
* Works with the Oracle XML Parser in Java.
* Creates documents conforming to the W3C XML 1.0
Recommendation.
* Supports creating documents in the following encodings:
UTF-8
UTF-16
ISO-10646-UCS-2
ISO-10646-UCS-4
US-ASCII
EBCDIC-CP-US
ISO-8859-1

Nullpointer exception while multiple users reading from XML DOM object
We are getting a null pointer exception when we are trying to read from a Static XML DOM object . We are getting the exception in weblogic 7.1 very rarely but started getting the exception in weblogic 9.2 more frequently. When multiple users are trying to access the Static variable we are getting null pointer exception. I think it is a memory related issue. Making the whole method synchronized is resolving the issue. But that is not the right thing to do. Can any one know what might be the issue here?
I am giving the code and the XML. I have tried to give the latest Xerces parser from the Apache site but got the same exception. Please help me in this regard.
The XML is also provided below along with the code.

AshishJust for anyone else who hits this problem: I encountered the same issue with an XML document that XMLSpy claims is quite well formed. I opened the document in a hex editor, and there at the from was a three-byte byte order marker - the marker that I believe the UTF-8 standard says is optional. I removed these three bytes, and the file was parsed correctly.
In this case, the XML file was created using a Microsft DOM (save).
My solution is to make the java parser - as I use it - a tad more robust: Open the file and create an input stream - a pushback input stream. Read the first three bytes; if they are NOT a BOM, then push those bytes back. Now - in any case - give the stream to the parser to read.
try {
// Open file for reading.
f = new File(path);
FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream(f);
PushbackInputStream pis = new PushbackInputStream(fis);
byte[] buf = new byte[3];
pis.read(buf, 0, 3);
if (! (buf[0] == 0x00EF) && (buf[1] == 0x00BB) && (buf[2] == 0x00BF) ) {
pis.unread(buf, 0, 3);
builder = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance().newDocumentBuilder();
doc = builder.parse(pis);
catch (Exception x) {
x.printStackTrace();

Problem in Coverting XML String into Document
Hi,
I am getting some problem while parsing a String XML in to Document object.
CODE :
public static Document converDocument(String xml){
DocumentBuilderFactory factory=DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
DocumentBuilder builder = null;
try {
builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
} catch (ParserConfigurationException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
Document document = null;
try {
document = builder.parse(new InputSource(new StringReader(xml)));
System.out.println("Document is after parsing ====>>>"+document);
} catch (SAXException e1) {
// TODO Auto-generated catch block
e1.printStackTrace();
} catch (IOException e1) {
e1.printStackTrace();
return document;
The xml which I am passing is :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<note>
<to>Tove</to>
<from>Jani</from>
<heading>Reminder</heading>
<body>abc</body>
</note>
It is giving the document as null;
Can anybody please help?
Regards,
sheeetal.>

Remove the "=" sign, this code will work :
CALL TRANSFORMATION ('ID')
SOURCE XML lv_output_str
RESULT ref = <fst_dyn_table> . -
How to Parse a string into an XML DOM ?
Hi,
I want to parse a String into an XML DOM. Not able to locate any parser which supports that. Any pointers to this?Download Xerces from xml.apache.org. Place the relevant JAR's on your classpath. Here is sample code to get a DOM document reference.

Adding attachments to Web Service call
Hi
Does Bea's web service classes include support for adding attachments to the soap message sent by a web service?
How do I do it? or otherwise, how do I get through the abtraction down to the soap message so I can add it manually?
I have both a weblogic.webservice.core.rpc.StubImpl and a javax.xml.rpc.Service to work with, I'm guessing it's somewhere deep down in the context of the Service...?Hi

Adding attachments to an e-mailable form
I am creating a form that is to be filled out and then
submitted and sent to an e-mail. I want to make an option available
of adding attachments to the form being sent to the address but I
don't know how. Is this something that I will have to do in a .php
code?The type of thing you want is possible, but if it needs to work with Reader the document must be enabled by LiveCycle Reader Extensions so it includes the embedded file usage right.
The best you can do with a file that's been Reader-enabled with Acrobat is to manually attach a file as a comment. A button can be used to display instructions, but that's it. There is also the licensing restrictions that come into play when you enable with Acrobat. -
Jbuilder compiler problem with xml DOM - please help.
my problem is that I am using jbuilder 4 professional to compile/run my code.
However I want to use the XML DOM but jbuilder does not appear to support the necessary packages for use with XML.
How can I get round this.
Can I compile instead from the command line - I am using JDK1.4 which supports the java xml packages necessary. Or is there a way of adding the necessary files to my project?
thanks, BAdd the required jar files to your project properties->classpath in JBuilder
The only problem is that. I have been using JBuilder without any problems. -
How to merge multiple XML or Text documents into 1 Word Document?
Hi all,
We're looking for a way to merge multiple XML or Text documents into 1 Word document.
All the XML or Text documents are oriented as a 'Paragraph', meaning smaller pieces of text.
By selecting some of these XML documents, the system should be able to create a new Word document with all the selected text paragraphs included.
The Word document can then be edited for applying a correct lay-out and the document is ready.
Actually, we are trying to do some kind of 'mail merge' but with multiple XML or Text documents!
Has anybody an idea whether something exist already or give us a direction how to proceed?
Thanks in advance,
Pascal DecockYou use Assembler for this purpose.
1) Assembler can be accessed through LC Java API. See http://help.adobe.com/en_US/enterpriseplatform/10.0/programLC/help/index.html
API Quick Starts (Code Examples) > Assembler Service API Quick Starts
2) Last week I posted on generating and merging PDF's from PostScript. Take a look at the assembly service instance in the .lca. Assembler uses DDX (Document Description XML) to describe document construction. NOTE the .lca was developed with ES 3 (aka ADEP). The .lca It contains the most basic DDX.
