Adding data source-JDBC
Hi Guys,
I have another problem on adding data source on EID. When I try adding a data source on EID as a JDBC source I get error that says "Could not establish a connection"..Do you tell me step by step what I have to do when I add a data source on Endeca? My data has based on SQL 2008.
The Studio Administration and Customization Guide includes the information on creating and managing data sources.
Adding and editing data sources in the Data Source Library
I don't know anything about the specific format of a connection URL for SQL 2008. That should be fairly standard, though.

Can you check that the following service is running: Oracle Application Testing Suite Agent Service

How adding a data source-data destination inside SSIS 2012-SSDT
Hi,
I need to see inside a SSIS 2012 project a new SSIS installed component but in the SSDT 2010 I cannot see the SSIS Data Flow Items tab for adding data source/data destination respect to the choose toolbox items pane:
It seems a SSIS bug.
Any helps to me, please?
ThanksHi,
In SQL 2012 you are no longer required to manually pick the tasks and components you want to use. You have to select from the new custom SSIS Toolbox to use the additional components you need.

JNDI failure. Unable to lookup Data Source at context jdbc/AppsDatasource
I'm not able to run my Application locally due to issue "JNDI failure. Unable to lookup Data Source at context jdbc/APPSnonXA", I did the following under debugging.
1. Finding SPACE in DataSource, I verified
1a. The data source for spaces and could not find any spaces. Also the "Test Connection" was successful.
1b. The PATH, CLASSPATH variables for SPACES. Removed other Tool paths. But no Use.
1c. Jdeveloper Installation Location Path. none of the folder names have spaces.
1d. Application Location path. Doesn't have spaces.
I'm attaching the log file that has the PATH,Classpath variable info.
Please help me out.
I did all the above by taking help of oracle forums.(https://forums.oracle.com/forums/search.jspa?threadID=&q=Re%3Aoracle.jbo.DMLException%3A+JBO-27200%3A+JNDI+failure.+Unable+to+lookup+Data+Source+at+context+&objID=f83&dateRange=all&userID=&numResults=30&rankBy=10001)After doing the following two things, The issue is resolved.
#1:
Configure Default Server for Datasource (Web logic console --> Data Sources --> jdbc/AppsDataSource --> Targets --> select, if not default server not selected --> Save --> restart the server.)
Note:
If we don't deploy while JNDI creation then below is correct. "You can select one or more targets to deploy your new JDBC data source. If you don't select a target, the data source will be created but not deployed. You will need to deploy the data source at a later time."
#2: If The Jdeveloper is newly installed, Create a dummy UI application. & run a test.jspx page. -
Hi all
I wrote my first jsf-adf project as discussed in cue cards in developer 10.1.3 using sql server 2005 , I configed my oc4j and app module as discussed in "Developing Oracle ADF Business Components for a SQL Server Database " paper in the same release of jdeveloper but I have 2 problems
1. when I Config my environment without adding data-source into data-source.xml
I get jbo-30003,jbo-29000 and jbo-26066 errors in the ie
2. If i define my customized data-source in data-source.xml I get this error:"Unable to create com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource "
my data-source code is
"<data-source

I don't know how to determine which server the DBAdapter is targetted to.
But I found the following information:
Under Deoloyment->DBAdapter->Monitoring->Outbound Connection Pools
Outbound Connection Pool Server State Current Connections Created Connections
eis/DB/SOADemo AdminServer Running 1 1
eis/DB/SOADemo soa_server1 Running 1 1
eis/DB/soademoDatabase AdminServer Running 1 1
eis/DB/soademoDatabase soa_server1 Running 1 1
The DbAdapter is related to the following files:
C:\ Oracle\ Middleware\ home_11gR1\ Oracle_SOA1\ soa\ connectors\ DbAdapter. rar
C:\ Oracle\ Middleware\ home_11gR1\ Oracle_SOA1\ soa\ DBPlan\ Plan. xml
I unzipped DbAdapter.rar, opened weblogic-ra.xml and found that there's only one data source is registered:

Then I decided to use eis/DB/SOADemo for testing.
For JDeveloper project, after I deployed to weblogic server, it works fine.
But for OSB project referencing wsdl, jca and mapping file from JDeveloper project, still got the same error as follows:

You may need to configure the connection settings in the deployment descriptor (i.e. DbAdapter.rar#META-INF/weblogic-ra.xml) and restart the server. This exception is considered not retriable, likely due to a modelling mistake.
It almost drive me crazy!!:-(
What's the purpose of 'weblogic-ra.xml' under the folder of 'C:\Oracle\Middleware\home_11gR1\Oracle_OSB1\lib\external\adapters\META-INF'?

I select the shared datasource from the data source propeties dialog, test the connection and everything is good.
I add a dataset by selecting "use a dataset embedded in my report" option within the Dataset properties dialog.
I select the newly added data source, click the "Stored procedure" query type and drop down the list box and select my intended stored procedure.
the timeout for the dataset is "0" seconds.
I click the "OK" button and I'm presented with the parameters to the stored procedure.
I enter valid data for the parameters and click the "OK" button.
I then get the following error message after 30 seconds:
The problem is, all of the timeouts, that I'm aware of, have values of zero (no timeout) or high enough values that 30 seconds isn't even close to the timeout.
I think the smallest timeout we have is 120 seconds.
I have searched this site and many others and the solutions all involve altering the stored procedure to get the fields into report builder and then revert the stored procedure back to its original form.
To me, this is NOT a solution.
I have too many stored procedures that need to be brought into Report Builder.
I need a real solution.
Thank you for you time, Tim Caldwell.
Timothy E CaldwellI don't mean to be rude, but really, check to see if the stored procedure can return data rows???
Maybe I'm not being clear enough.
The stored procedure runs perfectly fine.
it runs perfectly fine in the production environment and the test environment.
I can access the stored procedure in several ways and have it return correct data.
I can even trick report builder into creating a dataset with parameters and run the stored procedure that way.
What I cannot do, is to get report builder to not timeout after 30 seconds on the initial creation of a dataset with a Query type of stored procedure.
I have seen this issues posted again and again and again on may different sites and the "solution" is to simplifiy the stored procedure by creating a stored procedure that has a create table and a select in the stored procedure and that's it. After
report builder creates the dataset the developer then has to replace the simplified stored procedure with the actual stored procedure and everything works fine after that.
HOWEVER, having to go through this process for 70 or more stored procedures is ridiculous.
It would appear that there is something within report builder itself that is causing this issue.
The SQL Script included is an example of a stored procedure that will not create fields create a dataset with fields and parameters in Report Builder 3.0:

How do I select a data source for my webapp?
Wel, I'm obviously not looking in the right manual because this ought to be like falling off a log!
I have developed a web application in JDeveloper 10.1.3 and I'm deploying it (using a WAR file) to an OC4J container in OAS 10.1.3.
I have created a JDBC data source (JNDI location jdbc/bmra89) to connect to a 9.2.0.7 Oracle database and testing this through the interface is successful. The data source is associated with a new Connection Pool.
I ensure that a default data-sources.xml file is NOT bundled into my WAR file from JDeveloper (because the database I want to connect to from the OAS is different to the database I want to connect to from the deployed web app) so it should be looking for one it builds itself. In fact, data-sources.xml exists in the j2ee/<webapp_name>/config directory that contains the details of the data source and connection pool I created.
During deployment of the generated WAR file, I have chosen to Edit the Deployment Plan and in here I have entered the name of the data source (jdbc/bmra89) into the box labelled "defaultDataSource" and the boxes labelled "connectorsPath" and "dataSourcesPath" I've left empty.
It all deploys OK, but when I try to access a page I get the following error:
500 Internal Server Error
JBO-30003: The application pool (model.AppModuleLocal) failed to checkout an application module due to the following exception:
oracle.jbo.JboException: JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: oracle.jbo.JboException, msg=JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: oracle.jbo.JboException, msg=JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: oracle.jbo.DMLException, msg=JBO-26061: Error while opening JDBC connection.
at oracle.jbo.common.ampool.ApplicationPoolImpl.doCheckout(ApplicationPoolImpl.java:1954)
So, any ideas where I'm going wrong? (I have to admit to being pretty lost with all this!)
Thanks,
AndyLet's try to do this as easy as I'm capable of explaining.
Deploy the EAR to the Application server/OC4J standalone that you're trying to configure without modifying or removing any of the files in the EAR or WAR file and using all of the defaults.
Now start up the Application server control in you choice of web browser, my URL is http://localhost:8888/em.
After logging into the console select the "Adminstration" Link, and there will be List of Administration Tasks, one of which being the JDBC Resources under, Services.
After selecting the JDBC Resources "Go to Task" you will see 2 areas, Data Sources and Connection Pools. Somewhere in all of this you should see the jdev-connection-pool-bmra89, jdev-connection-managed-bmra89, and jdev-connection-native-bmra89.
I normally modify the jdev-connection-pool-xxxxx first to use the correct URL connection. IE- jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:bmra89 to jdbc:oracle:thin:@138.51.128.100:1521:bmra89, changing localhost to a specific database IP address.
Then I'll click the Apply, and then go back and do the same to the jdev-connection-native-bmra89.
At this point you should be able to test the connections successfully, and get the Web Service to connect.
I hope I've covered it and that this helps, and you're not being thick. The data sources part of this stuff can be confusing.

Data source of an existing custom data library in DLL
Post Author: tyakimov
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
Using Visual Studio .Net 2005
I am trying to bind Crystal reports Data source to an existing custom data library, located not in the project code, but DLL. My library contains business object implementations.I am using the "Database Expert", creating a new connection to an ADO.NET source, selecting the .dll from the my directory, and selecting the Class Name from the list of business entities that Crystal Report has detected from the assembly. But when I try to expand the newly-added data source, "... no items found ..." is displayed instead of the properties of the business object. I use similar aproach (BindingSource) when I bind my custom objects to the grid. Is there any way to to bind to classes defined in a .dll located in a folder ?There are many examples if the class implementation is in my project code, but I could't figure out how to do that, using classes from a DLL Any suggestion/help is appressiated regards,YakimoPost Author: bfs

No not yet, I'm still trying to find a solution. If I find one or discover that this is not possible, I will post it here.
I've just sent an email to customer support pointing out this thread, hopefully they can provide some help. -
Configurable data-source in orion-ejb-jar.xml
Hi,
In my orion ejb-jar.xml file, I have hard coded data-source entries for all entity beans , i.e.
<entity-deployment name="Customer" data-source="jdbc/slldev02DS" table="CUSTOMER">
Is there any way, I can make this customizable, i.e. feed in or define a parameter?
thanks in advance,
KevinJingzhi -- If you define the correct EJB-QL you should get the correct SQL generated for the finder. If that's not happening can you verify it against the OC4J v903 production release and see if it is still happening. I don't know if this helps with the JDeveloper problem specifically but if you don't need to create your own finders then that I hope should help.
Thanks -- Jeff -
What is specified in jta-data-source in persistence.xml??
When searching on the web I find examples like:
<jta-data-source>java:DefaultDS</jta-data-source>
or
<jta-data-source>jdbc/MyDataSource</jta-data-source>
What exactly is specified here? Prob dumb question but I can't figure it out.
Tyhi user644732
This says ...
http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence/persistence_1_0.xsd
"The container-specific name of the JTA datasource to use."
(tip : You can use "Your Control Panel" to make your name visible in forum posts.)

Deploy failure due to jta-data-source in persistence.xml
Hey All,
This is driving me insane. Every example, including the Sun tutorials (which don't work on my instance of Glassfish), list persistence.xml files like:
"<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<persistence xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" version="1.0">
<persistence-unit name="persistence_sample">
<provider>oracle.toplink.essentials.ejb.cmp3.EntityManagerFactoryProvider</provider>
<jta-data-source>jdbc/SamplesDB</jta-data-source>
<non-jta-data-source>jdbc/SamplesDB__nontx</non-jta-data-source>
</persistence-unit>
</persistence>"
I've tried every combination of <persistence...> tags, with namespace definitions, posted in examples on the internet, but my problem is, any time I deploy my ear with a "<jta-data-source>" tag specified, I receive the following failure from the App Server:
"Error loading deployment descriptors for module [pi-0] Line 26 Column 24 -- Deployment descriptor file META-INF/persistence.xml in archive [pi-ejb.jar]. cvc-complex-type.2.4.a: Invalid content was found starting with element 'jta-data-source'. Note that this only happens when I have a <jta-data-source> element in the persistence.xml file. When I comment out the jta-data-source, it deploys without problems (though it doesn't do much). Here's my persistence-unit code:
<persistence-unit name="prodcontext" transaction-type="JTA">
<provider>org.hibernate.ejb.HibernatePersistence</provider>
<class>OneOfMyClasses</class>
<jta-data-source>jdbc/SamplesDB</jta-data-source>
</persistence-unit>
Please help.
Thank you,
ToddOkay okay, my mistake (staring at this thing too long).
The solution is, I confess I overlooked it, the jta-data-source node in the xml has to follow the exact order specified in the xsd. I was putting it below the class nodes, which is a no-no. -

Error initializing data-source 'jdbc/DSPropiedadesCoreDS': DriverManagerDataSource Driver 'com.borland.datastore.jdbc.DataStore' not foundLiliana,
From the [lack of] information you have posted, I am assuming you are using OC4J stand-alone version 10g -- but I'm not sure because I couldn't find any of those details in your post. It always helps to include version and platform information.
If my assumption is correct, then the default location for third-party JAR files (including your JDBC driver) is the
"j2ee/home/applib"
subdirectory of the OC4J installation. For example, on my Windows XP machine (again, I couldn't see what platform you are using, so I am assuming it is also Windows), the actual path is:
C:\OC4J_10_0_3\j2ee\home\applib
If you want to see other examples of "data-sources.xml" files (apart from the one that comes with OC4J), try searching the following Web sites:

Good Luck,
Avi.
