Adding data to a bar chart "live"

Is it possible to add data to a series during a presentation so that the bar chart stays on screen but an extra column appears. I don't want to keep fading in and out I want it on screen all the time. I'm trying to do a "live scoreboard" using bars to represent scores. Any ideas? Many thanks....

Keynote builds what's going to be displayed prior to putting it up onscreen. So, there isn't currently a way to alter any of that information once the presentation starts.

  • Data values on Bar Chart in a BI Publisher report (11g)

I have a bar chart that I created via the layout editor in BI Publisher 11g, and I'm displaying the data values on the chart. That part works great. However, we're noticing that the chart adds zeros to the end of the data values depending on the length of the number being passed to the chart. My data item is a number that is 5 bytes in total, with 2 decimals. If the data value is *10.10*, the data displayed on the bar chart shows *10.10*. But when my data value is *1.10*, the data displayed on the bar chart is *1.100*. And if my data value is *.10*, the bar chart displays *0.1000*. The bar chart adds zeros to the end as the number of characters to the left of the decimal decreases.
I don't see a way to make it not do that. Has anyone else run into this, and been able to change it?

Basically what are you trying to do :
Attaching Mutiple Data Definition to a XML Program and deciding which one to call ased on parameter.Sorry you can not do that one Data DEfinition per Report.
ut there is one way of doing that.
Create multiple data defintion( mutiple programs) and then a master program something like
    IF Master Program Param1 = 'X'
    call BI Program 1
    ELSIF Master Program Param1 = 'Y'
    call I Program 2....
    End IF;

    Hi Mirthu
I moved your post to the SAP Crystal Reports, version for Eclipse SCN Space. Unfortunately, all I know about Java is that it's in the cup in front of me . But I will get someone to have a look that should be able to help you ASAP.

  • How to change the color of Data Markers in Bar chart

    Hi All,
In OBIEE 11G, I have Bar chart with 4 measures, each measure is set to a color using Style properties of Graph. Now i want to change the color of the Data markers matching to the Bar color. Which means Bar and Data marker value should be set to same color.
    Please guide me on this.

  • Problems with date in stacked bar charts

I am having a lot of problems trying to generate stacked bar charts where one of the fields is a date. Using the chart generator in word, the stacked bar charts work perfectly if I use (for example) Labels=Country, Series=Product, Values=Quantity(Sum) . The correct quantities are shown.

@Alex: You are right, using your short script in sqlplus gives me also 2009 as result
So, I am now posting the essential excerpts of the procedure because the whole one is to large:

    my_status varchar, my_zyklus varchar,

  • Display ISO week number instead of date on x axis in Bar Chart

    Hi,
I've created a simple SSRS report based on bar chart that shows several milestones. Everything works fine for me except I’m not able to convert the date into ISO week number format.
I played around with different approaches. I was able to convert the date into an ISO week Format directly on the SQL Server. That
    wasn't a problem.
But unfortunately I’m not able to display the week number on the horizontal axis in my Bar Chart. I tried both fields: TaskFinishDate and TaskFinishDateMS...
I would like to show the ISO week number instead of the date within the Bar Chart on the horizontal axis.
    Any ideas/hints/help is really appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
Per my understanding that you want to get the week number of the year based on the field "TaskFinishDate" which is datetime type and display the week number in the x-axis instead of the field "TaskFinishDate", right?
I have check the snapshot you have provided and it seems you have change the format of the datetime field in the x-axis like "dd.MM.YYYY", If you can't make the week number to display correctly in the x-axis, the issue can be caused by you haven't
change the format to Number in the category.
Details information below for you reference:
I assume you have use expression in the Label like below to convert the datatime TaskFinishDate in to ISO week number like below:
    =DatePart(DateInterval.WeekOfYear,Fields!TaskFinishDate.Value)
    or
    =DatePart("ww",Fields!TaskFinishDate.Value)
Right click the X-axis and select the "Horizontal Axis Properties", then click the Number to change the format to "Number" as below:
Preview you will get the weeknumber display in the x-axis correctly.
If you still have any problem, please feel to ask.

  • Adding data labels to column graph

I work in the financial industry and I have to add data labels to all bars that appear in my ten year performance graphs (see http://fundinvestor.calamos.com/ClosedEndFunds/CEFund.aspx?name=CHI under the "Performance" tab as an example). Is there a script that can do this? I saw there's this technique that Adobe offers for column totals: http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/Illustrator/13.0/help.html?content=WS714a382cdf7d304e7e07d 0100196cbc5f-619e.html but that's not working. What am I doing wrong? Adding data labels to bars is ridiculously simple in Excel, why can't I find the way to do it easily in Illustrator?

    That should do the trick.

  • Can you change color of bars in bar chart?

I have made a chart by using the spreadsheet and converting my data to a bar chart. I would like to change the default colors of the bars in the chart but so far haven't figured out how to do it, if indeed it is possible. Is it? If so, how should I go about it? I have been able to change the labels for the bars, but I want to change the colors of the bars themselves. Also, is it possible to change the arrows in the pictogram graph to some other clipart that might better represent the thing I am graphing?
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   AppleWorks 6.2.9

"I tried what you suggested, but it didn't work. When I click on the color square in the legend, a small circle appears in the square, but I am unable to select any of the paint tools. ... (Likewise, when I open the Modify dialogue and try to select the color in the sample box there, AppleWorks won't let me change it."
Paint tools won't work, as the bars are Draw objects, and you have only limited control over them while the chart is still connected to the spreadsheet. Click on the colour square in the Legend. The white dot indicates it's selected.
Now click on the Fill formatting button in the bottom section of the Tools (It's the almost invisible plain white button in the stack of three. The other two are the Pen formatting button—which has a black outline—and the Text formatting button—which has a T.). Then choose a colour from the Colors palette in the stack to the right of the three buttons.
"Similarly, when I open the Modify dialogue and try to delete the arrow symbol in the sample box, it won't go anywhere; I just get an alert sound and nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong?"
    Should work like this:
    Double click the chart.
In the Modify dialogue, click Series.
In the Series dialogue, click the Sample box. A black outline should appear around the box, indicating it is selected.
Press Delete to delete the current image. You should then see only the background colour.
Press command-V to Paste your image.
Uncheck Repeating to get a single copy of the image, stretched to fill the bar.
Check Repeat to get a fixed size image that repeats to fill the bar.
Set the overlap percentage if you want the repeating image to overlap.
Click OK to return to the chart and view the results.

  • BAR CHART

    Dear Experts,
My exposure to portal is very limited and i dont know much about portal development, so i was hoping if u could give me some direction.
We are in the middle of portal upgrade E6. When we run a query through portal, it now gives us this wonderful tool bar at the top with buttons such as Table, Bar Chart, Pie Chart, Line Chart, 3D Bar Chart, Swap Axes, Info, Exceptions, Conditions etc etc.
By default the result set is dispayed as table. For few reports, when we click on Bar Chart, it works well, it displays the data in the Bar Chart format. The problem is for SOME, it doesnt. It just shows, color codes for each key, but doenst show the chart itself.
For one report it even gave a error message to the effect as "there's too much data to display as chart".
Can someone help me, where should i look at, how can this be fixed ?
    Please advise.
    Thank you,
    TI

  • Does  BAM have maximum limitation number(64000) of rows in a bar chart?

    Hello,
I just posted a thread about a problem, these two problems are similar, but this one maybe more interesting.
I want to count the number of service request by day in August and display them in a char chart view, here is the data I got from database using SQL.
    Month
    Day
    Service Count
    8
    1
    139285
    8
    2
    1424
    8
    3
    692
    8
    4
    692
    8
    5
    1939
    8
    6
    1969
    8
    7
    2135
    8
    8
    1625
The data is filtered from 1th Aug to current date, in the bar chart only the data in 1th Aug shows up, and the number on the data label is not correct, it shows 64000. When the data is filtered from 2th Aug to current date, all the data from 2th Aug to current date show up, and the number in the data labels are also correct.
Could anyone tell why it behave like this? is it a bug or a feature of BAM? or does any incorrect config I did? I appreciate your replies.
    Best Regards,

    Hi,
Plz check the profile 'FND: View Object Max Fetch Size'. Set it to a large value.
    Also try using
    vo.setMaxFetchSize(-1)
in your coding. This will retrieve all fetched records.

  • Cant add more data points to numbers chart

I have a 2 axis 2D graph. I would guess i have about 150 data points along the y axis for both lines on the chart. I have been updating the chart each week no probem with new data points. However today, i can only seem to add a few more points - when i try to add past a certain amount of data points, the last 20 or so data points are removed from the series?
It simply will not allow me to add more data?
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated as the charts are for use in my business

Hi Jerrold, thanks for the reply.
I dont have category labels. I have a 2 axis 2D chart, with a line series and an area series on the chart. I add new data to the chart each week by clicking on either the line or the area series on the chart, then going to my data table beside the chart, and by holding apple command button and clicking on the relevant cells to add to the charts. As of this weeks adding, it starts of as usual, adding the cells to the line and area series, and thus adding data onto the existing chart and extending it out to the right, as it normally would. However, i can only add a certain amount of new cells (data points) to either the line or area series. When i go to add more, a very strange thing happens. The series switches from all the cells that are highlighted blue, to another table i have on the same document??? If i look at the Inspector in the Data box under the series tab, the data goes from the typical 'Table 1 :: D18', (highlighted in blue, to the following weird data point : 'D38,SFTGlobalID_CB7D88F601784CAC8DD283ECA59CFB41 :'
Its worth noting that although i an working on a brand new macbook pro, numbers has crashed on me a number of times when adding large amounts of data to the chart The table has 1,120 rows, and 11 columns. Only 1 in every 5 or so rows are plotted (on y axis), so roughly 200 or so data points for both line and area chart are plotted. And only 1 column is used for each chart. Thus i have 11 charts on the one numbers document. Is it a case of too much for numbers to handle?
I have just deleted all the y axis data for the area series for one chart, and added all the data from the whole table again, (rather than just adding this weeks to last weeks, which is where i saw the problem in the first place) to see if it made a difference. But none. Once i got to a certain point, if i add one more cell data point to the chart, the exact same thing happened as above - the highlighted data switched from what i had been highlighting the whole way down the table, to an entirely different table in the same workbook.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  • Stacked Bar Chart - no data found

I have a page with a report and a stacked bar chart. They are both based on the same query condition. When I call the page the report runs and shows the result but the chart shows "no data found" message. After pressing the submit button the chart finaly shows the result. Any clues what the problem could be? Can I create a process that would submit the page when I open it? Eventually only once per session?
This is a funny behavior. It occurs only sometimes. I am not able to reproduce it by will.
    Denes Kubicek

    Hello Flavio,
I know why this happened in my case - I added an additional condition using a page item as a bind variable to my ...WHERE... statement. This item had a default value.
After that the chart showed no data found but everything else worked fine. As soon as I comment out that condition (I have plenty of similar conditions in that statement and they work), the chart would show as expected. It was like the chart select statement would see the item empty (NULL) but the report using the same conditions would find the default value in it.... after submitting the page, it worked fine for the rest of the session.
Just now, I added a computation process for that page item, to set it on a static value (the same I had as the default value) - On Load Before Header. I also added a condition to it to fire only if the value of the item is NULL, to avoid unnecessary processing. After this my chart showed what was expected.....
I am sure your problem is of a similar nature. You need to check your select statement I suppose.

  • How can I show a 0% range in the data value label on a bar chart thanks?

How can I show a 0% range in the data value label on a bar chart thanks?

I'm not sure what the question is.
I know that if you have a bar chart and one of the categories (X-axis) has bar (Y value) equal to 0%, no bar is plotted for that category. Even the addition of a stroke (line) around the bars doesn't make one appear for 0%.  The only automatic way I know of to make it look like there is data in that category is to add the value labels to the bars. Inspector/Chart/Series, select one of the bars on the chart, click on "value labels". Another method that is a workaround is to fudge the number a little in your table so that instead of 0% it is a very small %.  This will get you a thin line on the chart.
But if your question is about the value labels (the numbers that display on or in the bars) and you are not getting one for a bar that is supposed to be 0%, it probably means your table doesn't actually have a 0% in the corresponding cell. A blank cell in the table will not get a value label.

  • SSRS Bar Chart grouping date series into Months, setting scaler start and end ranges

I've been trying to solve this issue for a few days now without writing a sql script to create a "blank" for all of missing data points so that I get a bar for each month.  I have date series (by day) data points grouped by two items
that creates a set of bar charts.  EG:  one chart per product in the tablix detail grouped to site level.
My issue is I would like the start and end of the charts to be the same for all charts and the only way I get it to work is with a chart that continues to show each date on the chart.
    EG:
I have the graph start and end points set and scaling by month as I would like but each bar is a day instead of aggregating to a month level.   My issue I hope to find a workaround for is if I go to Category Groups and define the grouping
to group with a year and month function the series is no longer treated as date data and I cannot control scaling.  It works fine if all months have activity, but I can't figure out how to always have all charts start at "May 2012" in this example.
The only start and end point that I've been able to get to work once doing this are integer based, eg normal start would be 1 for each graph, but 1 doesn't equate to the same month from chart to chart.
I hope SSRS can provide the solution.  I do know I can write a query that creates a ZERO value for each month/product/site but I don't want to leave the client with a query like that to support.
    -cybertosis

    Hi cybertosis,
If I understand correctly, you want to display all month category label in the X-Axis. You have configure the Scalar Axis, however, it cannot display the requirement format.
In your case, if we want the specific data format, we can configure Number property to set the corresponding Category data format. Please refer to the following steps:
Right click the X-Axis, select Horizontal Axis Properties.
Click Number in the left pane. Click Date option in the Category dialog box.
    Then, select Jan 2000 option.
Please refer to the following screenshot below:
If there are any misunderstanding, please feel free to let me know.

  • Ecelsius data from QAAWS do not fit right format to project a bar chart.

    Hello team,
Need some help in formating Xcelsius data from Qaaws link.
    Here is what i have:
I imported data in to Xcelsius using QAAWS link.
What i need to do is to project a bar chart with filters. 'i.e' chart should be projected based on the filter output.
The problem is that when i pick the data through filters it selects just one row.
But i need multiple rows, 'i.e'  for every year.  (as i'm projecting Yearly data. Vs HeadCount)
Excel file has got 4 columns, Project name, Role Name, Year, Head Count.
Filters are based on project type and Role type.
'i.e'  when i select project name and role name using filters : i want the filters to pick the matching data in excel (Headcount) for every year, however it picks for just one single year.
    Sample Excel data:
    TeamName     RoleName     CalendarYear     HeadCount
    engg                ModDel            2007                15
    ProjOff             CV                  2007                 22
    SCM                 CV                  2008                 42
    site                   CV                  2008                 31
    ProjOff             HP                   2008                 22
    PCM                  MM                  2009                 46
    Sore                 ZP                   2009                 22
    Engg                 CV                  2010                 19
    ProjOff             CV                  2010                 26
Any Ideas to develop this formatting would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Anil,
Thank you for a quick reply.
After i tried the combo box instead a filter i got multiple rows picked up, but how will it work for more than one combo box.?
I actually need 2 to 3 filters or combo boxes here, which can pick the data from Xcelsisus and output multiple rows on those filtered conditions, (just like filters, matching rows of input but output multiple rows )
'i.e' Combo boxes are displaying output separately ('i.e' both combo boxes are not in sync) unlike filters
Any ideas on this issue, Let me know if i do not make myself clear here.
    Appreciate your help.
    Regards
    Ravi
