Adding iOS Calendar event (ics) with JavaScript

Hi,
I would like to add a VEVENT  to the iOS Calendar app. I create the event on the fly and open it with:
//_ics.create() returns an uri-component-encoded icalendar-formatted string which starts with a 'data:text/calendar,'-prefix.
window.open(_ics.create(event));
On Mobile Safari it works as expected. Saved as a web app, i.e. added to the home screen, it doesn't work anymore and produces the message "Download failed...". I've tested it on iOS 7.1.2.
Any ideas why? Isn't the web app essentially a Safari instance without toolbars?
Best
Paul

Never mind. I figured out that I was not setting "Home Calendar" at the top of the screen. Do that and everything works fine

  • I added a calendar event to repeat every two weeks, but it repeats every day.

    I've added a calendar event to repeat every two weeks, but it repeats every day.  The original event was set up for all Day on Wednesday, Nov 5.  Setting up for a single  day worked fine.  Add the repeat option and select every two weeks...and it shows up every day until the end date.  I've re-booted the phone and tried other start dates.  Same result.  This is in the base iPhone calendar.  No other calendars have been installed.   iPhone 6  iOS 8.0.2.  Any suggestions?

    Found a workaround:
    Just change each attribute 1 item at a time.
    Create the calendar entry for one day only with no other settings.
    Go back in and edit it so that its every two weeks, then leave and confirm this worked.
    Open calendar back up and add in the end date.
    That's the only way I could get it to accept those settings, one attribute at a time.
    Misc. bug I suppose.  I miss the "It just works" days.  Living in silicon valley, the QA engineering buds I have at apple go on rants about the undisclosed/undiscovered but known bugs in ios every time we're having drinks.  From what I hear, internally IOS8/8.1 weren't ready for prime time push just yet.

    I purchased holiday add-ons for the UtiliTap Week Calendar.  I wanted basic holidays.  Once added my calendar was flooded with listings for holidays, the majority obscure, repeatedly listed. The "hide calendar" would work only till the next time I opened it. These holidays were listed on the built-in iPhone calendar as well as the UtiliTap Week Calendar. I actually want to delete the two purchases because I tried deleting the UtiliTap Calendar (where I purchased the add-on holidays) and the holidays still showed up on my built in iPhone calendar.

  • IOS Calendar Synch Issue with Google - iOS 8.1.3

    I upgraded to iOS 8.1.3 a few days ago, and since then, am finding that my iPhone is not synching properly with changes to my Google calendar made on other devices. Opening iOS calendar presents me with the spinning wheel for several minutes. To rectify the problem, I have to reboot or shut down the device entirely. When it comes back on, everything works fine.
    If this happened just once, I would have chocked it up to an anomaly. However, the behavior I described just happened for the second time in three days. First time was on LTE and this morning while my device was on my home FiOS WiFi.
    Nothing else appears awry, and upon reboot via a "soft" shut-down or hard reboot, calendar functions return to normal.
    Appreciate some input ....
    Many thanks.

    I Found if I do a soft reset it triggers my phone to start working though it lasts for 20-30 minutes and resorts back to issue again. I've also noticed AirPlay no longer functions properly which I realized after I updated my iPad to 8.1.3 which I regularly used for AirPlay so I tried it on my iPhone and it didn't work as well I tried it on my wife's iPhone and hers no longer works either. Wow! Disappointed to say the least. I know I can't be the only one frustrated with these 8+ updates as I've read it seems to be ongoing with thousands of others reporting online. It's not just the hard earned money spent on Apple products though when life becomes dependent upon using the products it seriously interfere with use

  • Some exchange calendar events missing with iOS 5

    I'm having difficulties with calendar events that are showing up on Outlook not showing up on the iPhone with iOS 5.  These had previosuly synced fine and been on the iPhone calendar before the upgrade to iOS 5, and only some claendar events aren't syncing correctly.  It appears to be doing this for both one-time and recurring events.  Additionally, new events on Outlook are syncing with the iPhone and new events added on the iPhone are syncing with Outlook.

    Try closing all apps completely and then do a reset and see if that helps. To close all apps : from the home screen (i.e.not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
    To reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • C# control event handling with javascript

    How can I get javascript to execute for "onchange" / "OnSelectedIndexChanged" event instead of a CodeBehind method? I think "OnSelectedIndexChanged" event has to be handled by CodeBehind; but how can I replace that (or onchange) with
    a javascript event handler?
    I have the following in my xyz.ascx file:
    <asp:DropDownList ID="ddlTypeCar" CssClass="BatsRefAddressTypes" runat="server"
                      onchange="javascript: testAlert();"
                      OnSelectedIndexChanged="ddlTypeCar_SelectedIndexChanged"
                      AutoPostBack="True" />
    I could not get the javascript to execute, even though I removed OnSelectedIndexChanged="ddlTypeCar_SelectedIndexChanged" and/or set AutoPostBack="false".
    Additionally, I tried added the following in xyz.ascx.cs Page_Load() method.
    ddlTypeOfAddress.Attributes.Add("onchange", "javascript: testAlert();");
    which didn't help.
    Thanks for your help in advance.

  • What way can I format my emails so iphone can create calendar events automatically with all the information?

    I use a website to send emails to myself. It already sorta creates the calendar event but requires a lot of editing. The link-back to the email makes it super easy to just go to the original. But I'm wondering if there's a specific format I can put the emails so that when creating the calendar event, it just has all the information, instead of parts of it?

    Please don't respond with useless comments.  I've already addressed the fact that my screen was broken a few months ago.  My phone may or may not be broken beyond repair either way, as I said before I can't afford a new phone.  It's a strange problem because from what I can tell no one else has posted the same problem anywhere I can find.  Don't be a dickhole.

  • Best way for iOS calendar to /pushsync with PC

    Hi All
    I have a particular request.  My business partner and I both have iphone 4s with iOS 5 installed.  at work, we have PCs running Windows.
    I would like our office staff to insert events into a calendar on the PC and have it push to our devices seamlessly.  Similarly, if one of us adds/edits an event on an iOS device, it gets synced to all devices including PCs.
    Can someone suggest how this would be possible.  We do NOT have Microsoft Exchange at work

  • How to print notes attached to calendar events

    My wife has been adding notes to her iPhone 4 calendar on a daily basis that are critical medical information.  I want to be able to print the notes. The event title shows up in print, but not the note infrmation.  Is there any way to print the note inrormation attached to an event ??
    I've been undergoing chemotherapy since Feb. My wife meticiously records date, place, drug info, medical notes each day as an event in her iPhone 4 iCal app as a note.  We can use the day and place for tax purposes, and looking for a simple way to do it.  Looking for any way other than cut & paste to a text file.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello
    I don't have Outlook 2011 but only guess here.
    Generally speaking, AppleScript's "whose" filter is very limited and does not support list containment test. So perhaps you'd have to resort to something like the following script, which actually scans the events for test.
    tell application "Microsoft Outlook"
        my events_with_categories({category "Conference"})
    end tell
    on events_with_categories(cats)
            list cats : list of categories to be matched
            return list : list of calendar events whose categories contain every item of cats
        script o
            property ee : {}
            property cc : {}
            tell application "Microsoft Outlook"
                set ee to calendar events
                repeat with e in my ee
                    set e to e's contents
                    set cc to e's categories
                    set _match to true
                    repeat with c in cats
                        set c to c's contents
                        if c is not in my cc then
                            set _match to false
                            exit repeat
                        end if
                    end repeat
                    if _match then set end of my ee to e
                end repeat
                return my ee's contents
            end tell
        end script
        tell o to run
    end events_with_categories
    Notes.
    * Script is not tested.
    * IF this works but is too slow, we may try to speed it up by retrieving categories of events (list of lists) in one statement, by which we can dramatically reduce the total number of Apple Events to send.
    Good luck,
    H

  • Inviting an atendee to a calendar event

    Hello. I am a new BlackBerry owner and having added a reminder to my calendar for next week, I want to "invite attendee" (send a reminder to my husband's cell phone). When I click on the "Invite" it then takes me to contacts but I cannot seem to attach his mobile number, it keeps asking me if I want to edit my contact for him. What am I doing wrong? Probably something small but I thought maybe someone here would know. Thanks in advance for your help.

    hello, as far as I know, calendar events work with email, not phone numbers. Did you set an email in the contact of your husband ?
    If your husband does not have an email address, I know many carriers offer a free email address like [email protected] where XXXX is the phone number of the subscriber. There is often a setup to allow the person to receive an SMS with the subject and sender of the email. But I know it defeats the purpose of sending a calendar event. Sorry.

  • How to filter Outlook for Mac calendar events by category using AppleScript

    Hi all --
    I'm trying to write an Applescript on OSX to filter Outlook for Mac 2011 calendar events based on event categories, e.g. find all events tagged as "Conference". For example, I have a calendar event named "WWDC" that is found by the following script:
    tell application "Microsoft Outlook"
      set theCategoryConference to first category whose name is "Conference"
      set theConferenceList to every calendar event whose (subject is "WWDC")
      display dialog "There were " & (count of theConferenceList) & " Conferences."
      set theEvent to item 1 of items of theConferenceList
      display dialog "Categories contains conference: " & (categories of theEvent contains {theCategoryConference})
    end tell
    The above finds 1 event, and the final line displays "true" as this event has been tagged with the Conference category.
    However what I really want to do is find all such events. The following fails to match any events:
    set theConferenceList to every calendar event whose categories contains {theCategoryConference}
    ThIs seems to me like it should work, but returns 0 matching events. Is there a different syntax to use, or is this a limitation of Outlook for Mac that perhaps doesn't allow filtering events based on a nested collection (the categories attribute on calendar event objects)?
    Thanks!

  • Calendar event - how to make it to repeat it self?

    Hi,
    I was surprised to say that I added a calendar event and I can't make to repeat itself.
    For example, I'm using this because I have to take some medicine every day in the morning and I always use reminder for this, to be sure that I take it So it is not a event reminder, which I would like o repeat itself.
    I didn't found anything for this setting. Did anyone find such a thing?
    Thank you.

    Unfortunetly I don't have what you suggested
    Even my Nokia 6100 had it. It's strange that in the N79 I can't find it

  • Changing timezones shifts calendar events (N93, E6...

    It is commonly accepted that if you arrange a meeting for when you get to New York, you arrange a time for the time zone New York is in, (unless you want to leave your phone at home in England) so why do all the calendar events shift 5 hours automatically when you set your clock to -5 GMT? Has anyone noticed this? Very annoying. I have to ignore the timezone function and simply adjust the clock back a few hours (the phone asks if I have travelled to a different timezone, I have to press NO).

    Let me give an example to explain better.
    If i've arranged a meeting in New York for 1400hrs (and added a calendar event for 1400hrs) and then fly from UK to New York, I would normally change my phone timezone to the local timezone on arrival, so for example, 1300hrs GMT arriving in New York my timezone would slip back 5 hrs to a local time of 0800hrs.
    On opening the phone's calendar, a window then announces that 'time zone changed, calendar entries updated', and hey presto my 1400hrs meeting (and everything else in the calendar) has gone forward 5hrs to 0900hrs.
    The event *should* remain at 1400hrs, not to have shifted just because I have changed the time zone of the phone. My Treo never did this, it's quite annoying.
