Adding mp3s on ipod

Hi,
I need help with my ipod mini. I would like to add lectures, which are in mp3 format, but ipod/itunes will not let me. I can't seem to figure out why. Help!?
iPod Mini   Windows XP

What do you mean iPod/iTunes will not let you?
Are the MP3s in iTunes? Do any error messages come up? How are you trying to put the songs onto your iPod? What settings does your iPod have (go to the Music tab when you plug in your iPod, assuming you have downloaded iTunes 7).
You should put your iPod into Manual mode by going to the Music settings, then changing it appropriately. Then, try to drag the MP3s to the iPod.
Post back with results! I hope this helps!

  • I am having problems when adding mp3

So when I sync the whole ipod touch, it's fine, but when I try to sync music or manually add music, i get some error windows.
When I first got the ipod in Jan2010, it was fine when I manually added mp3s, but recently I tried to add more music, it wouldn't allow me to.
I tried restoring to factory settings and restore from my back up, it didn't help.
I disabled my anti-virus (CA), still having trouble adding mp3s manually or syncing.
Everything else related to syncing works.
I tried my other ipods for this current PC and I was able to add music to those, but still not with the ipod touch.

    Many thanks.
Okay ... swinging into "basic principles" troubleshooting mode. I'm suspecting most strongly either a damaged pref file or library file here. If that's what is going on, then these errors should be specific to a single Windows user account on the PC (because there's a different set of iTunes preferences files and library files for each different Windows user account on the PC).
So I'd like to do a little experiment to check to see if this is a user account specific or system-wide problem on the PC.
Quit iTunes if you have it open. Head into your User accounts control panel. Create a new user account with full administrative rights.
Now log out of your usual user account and log into the new account. (Don't use fast user switching to move between accounts.)
Launch iTunes in the new user account. The iTunes set-up assistant will run. Don't add any files to iTunes when prompted to do so ... just let iTunes eventually launch to an empty library.
Now in iTunes go "Edit > preferences". Click the Devices tab. Make sure the "Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically" checkbox is checked and then click OK.
Now add a small number of mp3 to the new empty library. (Preferably, make them files that have transfered successfully to the ipod in the past.)
Now try attaching the iPod. Do not associate the iPod with the empty library. Now try checking that "manually manage" setting.
Attempt to do a manual transfer of the mp3s to the iPod from the new library. Do they transfer across without the error messages?
Now add a small number of the files that haven't synced successfully to the iPod (in the usual user account) to the iTunes library in the new account. Again, try a manual transfer of some of those files to the iPod. Do those transfer without the error messages?
(If both types of manual transfers take place without errors in the new account, that strongly suggests we should try to fix any library file or pref file issue in the usual account. If just the new mp3s refuse to transfer, then I'd be suspicious about a problem with the files themselves. If both types of files refuse to transfer, that would tend to rule out a library file or pref file issue, and we'll start checking on other possible causes of the issues.)

    Hi,
What is the iCloud status of these tracks?
You can add icloud status column to song view - go to menu > view> view options and tick box. This will tell you what has been Matched, Uploaded, Purchased, Inelligible, Duplicate or Waiting.

  • Adding MP3 in Dreamweaver CS3

    Hi,
I am new to this forum but I really need some help.
I am trying to link some mp3s onto my website using Dreamweaver CS3. I have tried two options:
    Using a Flash button
    For example: <a href="../music/track.mp3">Services</a>
Both instances do play the mp3 but they both open in a new window. They both open Windows Media Player.
Is there anyway I can press the play button without opening a new windows? I just want to be able to stop, play, pause, etc. just from that button.
Didn't consider embedding the files because I'll have a number of them a page.
    Any help?

    Thanks a million.

Get Wimpy MP3 Player.  A single, Flash based, streaming media player can handle all your audio files from a playlist. Easy to set-up, dirt simple to add or remove media files later.

  • "Recently added" playlist on iPod Touch problem

I don't know what happened but suddenly my recently added playlist on iPod Touch stopped sorting my songs as they were added (by date) they are all random now. It's pretty annoying since sometimes i just want to listen the the previously imported songs and it's impossible to find them.
Now, as for the recently added playlist on my iTunes, they appear sorted the way i like them.
Does anyone know how can I tell my iPod to sort my songs this way?
    Thanks

This is a known bug with the 3.1.x OS. As a workaround, either go into the playlist definition and un-check "Live Updating", or you can add some criteria that intentionally breaks Live Updating (e.g. add the criteria "Playlist Is Music", where "Music" is the general iTunes folder for music items).

WHY do I lose all my playlist etc when adding to my iPod? Do I seriously have to keep everything in iTunes permanently?

Keeping everything in an iTunes library, which you also backup, is the recommended way to deal with things. That way should your device need restoring you can connect to iTunes, restore and reload your content easily. The alternative is to manually manage the device, however should you need to restore it, damage it, or lose it, then you will also have lost the effort involved in ripping and organizing the media that you put onto it, and would need to repeat that process.

The Touch Copy third party software for PC's is the way to go it seems and although the demo is free, if you have over 100 songs then it costs £15 to buy the software which seems not a lot to pay for peace of mind. and restoring your iTunes library back to how it was.

  • I have an iPod Touch and I have added mp3s and want to know where the id tags are being stored so I can transfer it to another computer

I have downloaded AAC files but I have also added some Mp3s I made earlier from CDs I own and I have updated the info for them in iTiunes and it doesnt seem to have updated the ID3 Tags.
Does anyone know which file I need to copy to transfer the info data to my computer at home, and can I just copy the file into My Documents iTunes folder and have the info displayed in iTunes?

  • Why do manually added mp3s in the Podcasts app all show up in the same folder?

    Let me explain!
I like to download lectures and talks and audio books from other sources than iTunes.
I like to add these mp3 files to iTunes, change the Media type of them from Music to Podcast, and transfer them to my iPod Touch. This is so I will more easily know which ones have been listened to and can be removed.
This worked (and works) well in the Music app. Everything was separated into folders based on what album name I had manually assigned to the ID3 tags of the files.
But in the Podcast app, all of these files are now lumped into one folder.
I currently have eight un-listened-to episodes of Philip K. Dick's Valis on my iPod Touch. But the folder shows a count of 106 unheard episodes in relation to this audio book, because it lumps all of my other manually added podcast media tracks into the same folder.
    Why is this?
Why does the Podcasts app refuse to let me separate manually added files into individual folders based on album information?
Had the My Stations feature let me populate its playlists in a more rational manner, and also allowed me to manually change the running order of the tracks (something which only seems to be possible in the On-The-Go playlist), I would not think that this omission was such an annoyance.
I have been searching for months for mentions of this problem, but I have not seen a single one, and so I have finally decided to make my own thread.
Let me know if the nature of my problem remains unclear.
    Joakim

    That doesn't do anything.
When I plug my phone in and attempt to sync it with iTunes and click on "Steven's iPhone" under "Devices" the display to the right just says "loading..." and it stays like that for hours. Nothing happens.
As far as I can tell, there is literally no way for me to delete the photos from my iPhone and I therefore, cannot upgrade to the newest software, download new apps, etc.
