Adding parameters to xcelsius dashboard

Hello All,
I am new to xcelsius and would like to have advises and help regarding my needs.
I have selected the columns which I want from the "Universe Query" and get the data in the excel sheet in xcelsius. Now, I have added a scorecard and it is reading perfectly from the xcel sheet. The user had requested for additional requirements that they want parameters to select the dates which they want for example "1-1-2011"-"2-1-2011"-"3-1-2011"-"10-1-2011". So, how do I implement this? Any advises? Tutorials?
Thanks for the help

Hello Maas,
I think there are several ways to do so, but I can only think about two ways by the moment:
One way is by using a Selector component, select as Labels the colunm with the dates, and on Data Insertion, Insertion Type select Filtered Rows. This option will filter the Source Data you select from the choosen date, and use the Destination to put it on another sheet. Then you can create your Charts over this flltered data.
The other way is by using the query filter, as explained below:

Hope it helps!

  • Xcelsius Dashboard based on BI Query

    Hi,
We want to embed an Xcelsius dashboard into our application. All other forms of Xcelsius dashboard work except for the one based on a SAP BW Query. The Xcelsius dashboard work fine in the portal when we embed the Xcelsius dashboard into an iView.
We identified that if we pass the following parameters to the dashboard it should work but not sure what it means. Can you help us identifying what does it mean and from where can we get these paramaters.

  • Excel sheet on sharepoint to be used as source for Xcelsius dashboard

    Hi Everyone,
We have to build an Xcelsius dashboard based on an excel sheet's data. This excel sheet is placed on a sharepoint, which will be updated periodically.
I would like to know what kind of dat a connection i can use to fetch this excel data and publish this dashboard.
I couldnt find any suitable type of connection in the data manager...please suggest me a way to get this done.
    Thanks,
    Shesha.

    Hi Ryan,
Yes our customer does have sharepoint, can you please let me know how the sharepoint can expose the Excel spread sheet as a web service. I think this solution will work out, if i can get the web service. Please share the steps for this.
Does it involve any 3rd party tools? .
    Thanks,

  • Issues migrating Xcelsius Dashboards from Dev to QA in BO 4.0

We are currently using BO 4.0 SP2 for enterprise landscape  and Crystal Dashboard 4.0SP2 for dashboard design. We have Webi Reports created on top of BEx queries and BI Web Services are created on top of WEBI Report blocks used as the data sources for Xcelsius dashboards. All the dashboards work fine in Development environment. Now the problem is when we migrate the dashboards to QA, dashboards doesnt work anymore as the Web Services based on Webi Report blocks have the  BOBJ Dev server name hard coded in the Web Services URL and still shows the same in QA. I can change the web services url to point to QA in XCelisus, however can't edit the web service in QA to change it to point to Dev. Has anyone experiences this issue?
    Thanks

  • Disable login prompt for SAP NW based Xcelsius Dashboard

    Hi all,
Need assistance to understand what needs to be done in the below case:
    Current scenario:
    1. Developed Xcelsius Dashboard based on SAP NW Connectivity on BO XI 3.1 SP2+.
    2. Configured trust between SAP BW server and BO Server using steps outlined in integration kit(login/accept_sso2_ticket, etc).
Imported user roles in BOE and enabled SAP authentication.
After this, WEBI Reports based on Bex queries refresh in Infoview without prompting for Login id/Password.
    3. Configured SAP Server to enable portal/interop switch to display the Xcelsius Dashboard within Infoview which is the existing BI portal. Used Hyperlink object for enabling the link.
In the hyperlink, I am using the same link which gets generated when I use the option Xcelsius 2008>>file menu>>SAP>>Launch
Issue: On click of Hyperlink, I get SAP EP Login window. Once I fill up the SAP user id and password, the dashboard comes up
    Server Configuration:All on same domain
    SAP system ID=X(SAP BW server)
    SAP system id=Y(SAP EP Portal)
    BOBJ system Z(BOBJ Server)
User roles stored in X. Entitlement system defined in Z for SAP BW Server X.
Dashboard is not available in SAP EP Portal in any folder as of now. Have not created any roles yet.
As per the various posts and KB articles,
Do I need to enable SNC for both X and Y? or trust between Infoview and SAP EP portal can be enabled without enabling SNC?
Just like SAP BW server, does the SAP EP portal also has *.cert files that can be used to exchange with BO Server to enable trust.
    Thanks,
    V Fernandes

    Hi Ingo,
Thanks for your explanation. I was referring the configuration mentioned in the wiki article for displaying Xcelsius Dashboard in Infoview where this was explained as a possibility. Even though its not Lean.
    Link: [http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/IntegrationofanXcelsiusdashboardinBOE+Infoview]
The only difference in my case is the use of SAP Authentication instead of Enterprise.
Thus as per your last update the following workflow is only valid:
    1. User logins to Infoview using SAP Authentication.
    2. User clicks on Xcelsius Dashboard Hyperlink object.
    3. SAP Enterprise Portal login pops up within the Infoview Workspace.
    4. User has to fill in the Login credentials again.
    5. Dashboard load up successfully.
Please correct me in case I am wrong.
Thanks for the response. In case there is any other way this can be achieved, then please do let me know. Appreciate for all the help.

  • Connecting ORACLE 10G, SAP R/3 to Xcelsius dashboard

    Dear All,
I have a scenario with a customer, where in we have to develop an XCelsius dashboard over Oracle 10g source. Customer is keen on building dashboards directly on top of Oracle 10G (or) SAP R/3.
Could you please let me know - which approach is good for Performance of Dash boards?
    1)ORACLE 10G>NON SAP Universe>WEBI Report>Live Office> XCelsius
    2)Oracle 10GSAP R/3 (Using of Data Services)>ABAP Function Module>Crystal Reports2008>Live Office> XCelsius.
    3)Oracle 10G>Crystal Reports2008>Live Office-->XCelsius
    Thanks and regards,
    Raghu

    HI Raghu,
    1)ORACLE 10G>NON SAP Universe>WEBI Report>Live Office> XCelsius
Here we can make use of the background scheduling of webi reports and use latest instance if the volume of data is more in the tables.
As webi is a very good tool we can consolidate data and optimise the performence of the dashboard..
Note: Universe designing should be done very carefully.
    2))Oracle 10g/SAP R/3 (Using of Data Services)>ABAP Function Module/Infoset>Crystal Reports2008>Live Office> XCelsius.
    SAP R/3>function module/Infoset>Crystal repotrs 2008->liveoffice>dashboard.
Here we can make use of the background scheduling of Crystal reports and use latest instance if the volume of data is more in the tables.
it is good if you implement all the logic in ABAP side and simplify the  work at Crystal report side so that the dashboard performence is good if the refresh option is ONDEMAND.
    Note: ABAP consultant is needed.
    3)Oracle 10G>Crystal Reports2008>Live Office-->XCelsius
In this case you have to implement all you logic in Crystal reports and schedule the data and use latest instance for better performence of the dashboard.
Decision has to be made depending on the volume of data logic behind report to display the final data..
if you are using webi in ur flow you can have better staging and adhoc analysis can be given to the user .
Case 2 is also good if ur making every thing at ABAP level .
    i dnt suggest 3rd case.
    Hope this helps you ..

  • Connecting SAP R/3 to Xcelsius dashboard

    Hi all,
I've a requirement where I have some reports in SAP R/3 and based on those reports I need to build a single Xcelsius dashboard.  What I know is I have to use Crystal Reports which fetches the data from R/3 tables and in turn use these Crystal reports as data source to my Xcelsius Dashboard and I want this dashboard to be a live one.
But how should I connect to the Crystal reports data directly from Xcelsius ??
Is it through Live Office, if yes can someone describe the process to do it as I'm unaware of it ??
    Thanks
    John

    Hi Anil,
The reports in SAP are standard reports where each report is having 4000-5000 lines of code, and to replicate
the same logic in Crystal Reports to build reports which in turn can be used a data soure to Xcelsius dashboard is a
huge task and time consuming as far as I know from outside of it.......
Is there any other approach to achieve this ?
    Thanks
    John

  • Best practice to implement different Xcelsius dashboard for different users

I'm implementing an Xcelsius dashboard that requires to show each individual user with different content (e.g. When a user logins in, the dashboard shows her name and job title, her performance and her subordinate's performance).  I'm just wondering what's the best practice to implement scenario like this?  Thanks.

    Hi Thomas
What you are looking at is "Row Level Security" within BusinessObjects and the options you have are determined by what type of data you are reporting off of (relational data, OLAP data, BW data, etc.)
For instance, if you are using relational data with a Universe you could setup a database table with the BusinessObjects username to correspond with their e-mail address or other unique identifier. From there, you could add security to your universe using the @variable('BOUSER')
That way, any objects created off of the universe (whether it is a Crystal Report, Web Intelligence, BI Web Service, QaaWS, LiveOffice, etc.) will filter the data based on this security model. So any Xcelsius dashboard based on this underlying data will also be filtered.
And that is just one of the options you have, depending on your data source.

  • Open the WebI report from Xcelsius dashboard

    Hi All,
I would like to know how to open the WebI report from the xcelsius dashboard.
Looking at the previous posts I followed the following steps to implement the same but that is not working.
Inserted the component URL button and used the folowing link:
    http://servername/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sType=wid&sIDType=XXX
But this is givingerre: " Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"
Also, tried the copying the reprot link, but that is opening the Infoview login page.
I want the report to opened when we click the URL button.
Could someone please provide me a solution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Sindhu

did you try passing the iDocID parameter? When prompted did you try to login to InfoView and check whether Report gets displayed?
Ideally the URL should be as below:
If you want to bypass the logon screen, you need to modify the OpenDocument.jsp to pass logon token to the above URL i.e.token=+token where the +token is being retrieved by sdk.

  • Problem while opening xcelsius dashboard in Infoview

    Hi all,
I created an Xcelsius dashboard which contains 3 tabs and in each tab i placed different components. Everything works fine.
I exported it to BO platform and while opening it in Infoview it looks very small. Not even in visible size.
My Qn is how should I enlarge it to view it properly???

    Hi Vasu,
Open the xcelsius file and in designer, please click on Fit Canvas to Components which will be available 2 buttons next to Data Manager icon. Once this is done, all your components will be fit in the canvas. You can always click on "+" button next to Data Manager icon, to maximize the canvas size. Once this is done, save the XLF and then export to BOE. Hope this helps you.
    Thanks!

  • Can you pass parameters to the Dashboard in a URL?

    Hi,
I'm trying to launch a dashboard from a weblink in a new window but I can't figure out how to pass any parameters into the dashboard. I would like to set the prompt or the presentation variable or anything that could be used to filter the results of the 4 reports running in the dashboard. Right now the dashboard comes up with all results from all accounts and I want just results from the account with the weblink.
    Is this possible?
    thanks

    Ok,
I just tried that and it still doesn't pass anything to the prompt.
I changed the prompt to an edit field and I made the following weblink but when i click the link from an account it doesn't put anything in the prompt and all data for all accounts is shown.
This is the URL maybe I messed something up...

  • Using 2 data (SAP Netweaver BW) connections in Xcelsius dashboard

I have a situation when using 2 data (SAP Netweaver BW) connections in Xcelsius dashboard.
    Break-down of issue:
I have a toggle button in our Sales dashboard which displays Top Ten Customers versus Bottom Ten Customers.  I use the value of the toggle button to trigger the data connections.  When a user clicks the toggle button for Top Ten Customers the value of the toggle button would be a 1 which would trigger a BW query to capture sales data for the Top Ten Customers.  When a a user clicks the toggle button for Bottom Ten Customers the value of the toggle button would be a 0 which would trigger a BW query to capture sales data for the Bottom Ten Custoemrs.  NOTE: all the key figures in both querys use a scaling factor of 1000.  So for example, if invoiced sale has a value of 100,000 the scaling factor of a 1000 would display this key figure with a value of a 100.  The issue I am having with the dashboard is when I click the toggle botton for the Top ten Customers, the value shows as 100 and if i click the toggle button for Bottom ten Customers the value would show as 100,000.  I need the toggle button to show the values using the scaling factor coming from the BW queries for both Top Ten Customers and Bottom Ten Customers. It's only using the 1000 scaling factor coming from the Top Ten Customers.
Any help on this issue would be graetly appreciated...
    Thanks,
    Joe

Hi, I get both. I think the errors are connected. On the one hand it is not possible to create any SAP NetWeaver BW connection, because you cannot enter the connection details- just as in the screen above. The only option you have is to use the "browse" button, but then the blank error appears.
When trying to open a Dashboard from Portal you have to use SAP->Open and then SAP GUI should appear, but here I get the error "Could not open from SAP" instead. I have installed BEx and SAP GUI of course, reinstalled all of them two times just as recommended above, also reinstalled MS Excel, Flash, Java. Furthermore I tried to repair the installation and to change between different editions, personal, departmental etc.
In the meantime I think it should not be possible at all to connect to BW with the departmental license key. Can somebody confirm that?
