Excel sheet on sharepoint to be used as source for Xcelsius dashboard
Hi Everyone,
We have to build an Xcelsius dashboard based on an excel sheet's data. This excel sheet is placed on a sharepoint, which will be updated periodically.
I would like to know what kind of dat a connection i can use to fetch this excel data and publish this dashboard.
I couldnt find any suitable type of connection in the data manager...please suggest me a way to get this done.

Yes our customer does have sharepoint, can you please let me know how the sharepoint can expose the Excel spread sheet as a web service. I think this solution will work out, if i can get the web service. Please share the steps for this.

Can anyone shed some light on how to apply a toggle button for multiple connections using xcelsius dashboard.
I created two SAP connections in my xcelsius dashboard. The first connection uses query 1 (bottom ten customers) and the second connection uses query 2 (top ten customers). I wanted to use a toggle button where the user would click Top Ten customers versus Bottom Ten customers. Which ever the user clicks in the toggle botton would run that query.
If the toggle button is not the way to handle this can someone explain a better approach to run either query in the same dashboard.

I've never had to do this so have no practical experience. However in theory you should be able to do the following (assuming the data connection type youu2019re using has the "Usage" tab):
Set up the two connections as normal - On the usage tab set the detail query to Refresh before components are loaded and make sure that this is unchecked for the other query. Set both queries to populate the same range so that one query will overwrite the other in the Xcelsius spreadsheet.
Bind a toggle button to a cell e.g. A1
Back to the data connections again and set the "Refresh on trigger" trigger cell to A1. And set the "When Value Becomes" to either "On" or "Off" dependent on how you've set up the toggle button. Repeat for the other query.

To achieve these are the steps that I had followed :
1. Add the document Library path into Central Admin -> Application Mgmt -> Manage Service App -> Excel Service App -> Trusted File Locations
2. Add Documnet Library link to Trusted Connection Proivder
3. Open Visual Studio as Run as Administrator
4.Create an SharePoint 2013 Empty Project.
5.Add Service Reference : http:\\<server>\_vti_bin/excelservice.asmx
6.Service added successfully
7.Create a class file and add the Service Reference namespace
There is no such class as ExcelService to call.
Please let me know if somebody knows how to open the Excel file into C#(2012) either using ExcelService or any other way to open. I tried old methods of Sharepoint 2010 server but it's not able to access classes.

Sending an excel sheet of to mail Ids using file to mail scenario
Hello,
I have a folder with three folders archive exception and log. Log folders have the details of exception. I want the XML files that are in Exception, to be sent to resp email ids with the data in it to be stored in an excel sheet( data will be collected from the log file for the correspondng file in exception).
eg: if test.xml is in exception its log will have an exception detail somethng like " Enter a value".
In this case i want to give the exception details as well as some relevant details with it like material number etc , time at which the exception occured . These details are to be given in an excel sheet .
Is it possible to do using file to mail scenario. Please help by explianing the procedure.
Regards.This can be done with the help of some Java and ABAP coding. I can give you a general view on how to do this.
1. Configure a file adapter for sender to pick up the exception files.
2. While doing the mapping, create a UDF to store the values (which you need to send it to excel file) in a table in ABAP Stack.
3. Create a ABAP Program in R3 (which can be schedule on regular intervals depending on ur req) to create an excel sheet based on the the data in the table (created in previous step). I am not sure how easy to code ABAP program to create an excel sheet.
4. Create one more file adapter to send this excel sheet to the corresponding mail ids.
This is a very high level view on doing this. -

Link ECC roles to Portal roles (Portal is using LDAP source for UME)

If a user is assigned a certain ECC ABAP role, they should also receive a related portal role. Our portal is using LDAP.
If our portal ume source was an ABAP system, I think it would be easy to achieve the ECC to ABAP role linkage.
We were thinking of developing a UME java webservice and have an ABAP proxy class consume it to allow our abap system to assign the correct portal role, and delete the portal role.

Thx for your reply. Can you provide any more details as to the design of your solution with the web service? We are thinking of running a batch job nightly with a some mapping table in ECC to determine what ABAP role should link to the portal group then call the webservice to add the user to the portal group or delete the user from the portal group.
A second question is...does SAP Identity Manager offer any solution for this type of requirement?

ShrinivasYou need Acrobat Standard or Pro to convert the scanned image to readable text (OCR) and then save it as a Excel file (if Acrobat recognizes that it's a table, which I doubt it will). Maybe there are some 3rd party plugins that can help you further.

I want to download SAP vendor master data into excel sheet and the file should be stored in SAP Application server Location with padding zeros.

You can download the data into application server using the following code. You will have the vendor details in the internal table. Then you will open a file and transfer the data as follows.
* Download internal table to Application server file(Unix)
DATA: e_file like rlgrap-filename value '/usr/sap/tmp/file.txt'.
open dataset e_file for output in text mode.
lOOP AT it_datatab......
transfer it_datatab to e_file.
ENDLOOP.
close dataset e_file.
In application server you will have only files and not excel sheets.

To make Excel sheets from sqlplus, you can use the markup html tag in sqlplus.
Here's an example.

Hi All,
In a ALV report, i would like to donwload the final internal table into an excel sheet.
The requirement is that the data should be filled from 8th row of excel sheet.
I am using GUI_DOWNLOAD and it makes the data to dump from first line of excel sheet itself.
How to incorprate the logic for these requirements?

I think you have written a separate sub-routine for this. Use another internal table IT_XLS which has a similar structure as the int. table for ALV display (IT_ALV, say).
Now try this piece of code:
DO 8 TIMES.
APPEND WA_XLS TO IT_XLS. "Populate 8 blank rows in the table
ENDDO.
LOOP AT IT_ALV INTO WA_ALV.
WA_XLS = WA_ALV.
APPEND WA_XLS TO IT_XLS.
CLEAR WA_XLS.
ENDLOOP.
Use GUI_DOWNLOAD to download IT_XLS. Can you please tell what do you want to populate in these 8 blank rows?

I am new in scripting and excel, i am looking for below solution as my job requires daily work of this kind and i came to know by automating this work lots of time can be saved.
Compare Server Names in Excel sheet from column1 with column 2 and exact matched server names should be saved in column 3 in same Excel sheet.
Looking solutions first using excel i.e.vlookup itself so that it will not require any approval in my job else using powersell ,vbscript.
