Adding select/de-select column to salv report

is there a way to add select/deselct column to report?
i am using SALV to create it .

Give your users the layout capability, by using the SALV Standard GUI Status copied from one of the SALV* demo programs in SAP. In SE80, show the GUI status, right click on it and copy into your program name...adjust as needed....Here's what I use in SALV:
data: gr_layout TYPE REF TO cl_salv_layout,

gs_key TYPE salv_s_layout_key,
gs_key-report = sy-repid.
* User can save layout.
gr_layout = gr_alv->get_layout( ).

gr_layout->set_save_restriction( cl_salv_layout=>restrict_none ). "user can do all layout functions including change displayed * columns and sorts, etc.
gr_layout->set_default( cl_salv_layout=>true ). "user can set his default layout.
Or...in your field catalog definition:
( declared gr_column type ref to cl_salv_column_table)
gr_column->set_visible( abap_false ).

Adding a sub-total column in a report

I making changes to a developed report using Reports 2.5 and I need to add a subtotal column at the change of wbs code.in other words I have A26,A27,A28.
At the end of A26, I would like to have subtotal column, and then when I get to A27, another subtotal and so forth.
Can I do this on the query or what approach should I take.

This sounds like a standard requirement in most of the reports. You just need to change your data model. Group by wbs code and put a summary column. However, I cannot explain it any better without seeing your report. Neither can Oracle Team

Conditional Columns in Select Statement for any type of Report

Okay so I had a requirement to conditionally show columns on a report when the data in the column was not null. I played around the "vertical" report mentioned in other posts but it didn't work well for my needs. Also I know that there is a javascript solution for this as demonstarted in Denes Kubicek's app (which was copied from Vikas :) ). Anyways listed below is my approach.... Hope this can help anyone else out as it's just pl/sql returning sql. Also you will need execute on dbms_sql for this to work.

Selecting a column in Answers report based on user prompt/ apply filter

I need to do the following in OBIEE Answers report (version 10.1.3.4.1):
1) Think of a simple table with dim TX_type and some measures like month_jan, month_feb, month_mar
so the fact table looks like (column names) tx_type, month_jan, month_feb, month_mar
2) I need to select the measure column based on a user dashboard prompt, prompt populates a presentation variable var_month = jan or feb or mar
3) I need to select the correct measure (one of these month_jan, month_feb, month_mar) and then apply column filter based on the dim TX_type to split the values of these into multiple columns for report. So the report may look like (in Answers)
Sales , Tax, overheads
where Sales may be defined as sum(month_jan) where rows have TX_type = 'sales'
where Tax may be defined as sum(month_feb) where rows have TX_type = 'tax'
where overheads may be defined as sum(month_mar) where rows have TX_type = 'overheads'
IF the user selects jan
IF user selects Feb then the 3 report columns are based on month_feb and likewise for month_mar
I cannot use column selector option as the report column further apply filter in column filter definitions in Answers...
4) When I try to build the column filter using a presentation variable (var_month), the presentation variable is not getting populated in the column filter.
For e.g. IF var_month = 'jan'
THEN month_jan (let us assume the logical column name is month_jan too)
ELSE month_feb and so on...
However, the var_month always shows 0 in the IF clause. If we used a repository variable instead, it works fine. But since repostory variable cannot be changed on the fly (by user prompt) it is not usable.
We cannot change fact table defintion....and we have 12 measures column and about 8-10 different colum filter based report columns using this measure.

have you thought about a SQL statement in the prompt, something like:

Use this to give you the 12 values for your months then give the prompt column a presentation variable name and set a default value in the 'Default To'. Also set the same default value for the filter.
A couple of points:
1. If you're transforming the presentation variable from 'Jan' to 'month_jan' you may need to edit the syntax for the filter column (not using the dialog box).
2. If you're transforming the behaviour of a dimension / measure column in the report, have you specified the syntax correctly, e.g. sum('@{pres_var}')?

Dynamically selecting column names in report builder ???

Dear members,
I have a requirement in which the user dynamically selects the tables column names. Like suppose take DEPT table. My query would be
select &P Report from dept;
so if the user selects DNAME then i would get the dname values and so on... This is fine but if one gives the value for the lexical parameter as DEPTNO,DNAME then i should get two columns in my report output. The select statement then becomes
select DEPTNO,DNAME Report from dept;
But i am not able to do this in report builder(6i). If i use just one value for the parameter then i get the o/p but if i use more than one (eg: DEPTNO,DNAME) then its giving an error.when i run this query through toad or sql plus then i am getting the desired o/p but wher as in report builder i am not able to get the o/p.
My report triggers are :
Before Parameter form :

After parameter Form :

Number of columns can not be changed at run time. If your data model has three columns, lexical parameter should pass 3 values. If you have query like this in data model:
select &p_1 from table
Whatevere you have as initial value in user parameter p_1, data model captures that info.

The path to get to this report is:

Then (after entering Cntl Area & DB prof), we narrow data using "Dynamic selection" icon & check Company code. Then enter valid company & save.
Then enter project range, then execute.
OR
T-CODE "CJE0".
is there any procedure to insert a column .
I have not used Report Writer/Report Painter previously

I have solved it myself by adding few lines in stored procedure. Would like to share the solution, so that it will be helpful for others.
Open the stored procedure which we are using for the default "List of Incidents" reports.
Add the below under SELECT

First column of this report is check box for row selection. and its binded to primary key of a table. i know that i can get the selected row's primary key (Check box value) using APPLICATION_ITEM.G_FO1() function. What i need is how can i get the other cell values of the selected row ?

What do you want to do with them when you get them?
I can think of 2 possible approaches:
<li>Stick with the current report. On page submit you get an array of zero or more PKs. Create a collection with a row containing each PK. Whatever it is that you want to do next can then use a query that is a clone of the original report query plus a join to the PK values in the collection.
<li>Recreate the report with shadow <tt>apex_item.hidden</tt> columns in the query for each value. In the report column attributes, do not display the <tt>apex_item.hidden</tt> columns, but include them with each displayed column (or stuff them all into one column for convenience) using HTML Expressions. The values will then be available in <tt>apex_application.g_fxx</tt> arrays like the row selector checkbox.
I prefer the first one, but really it depends on what the next step is...
(If it's actually a tabular form then the values will be in other <tt>apex_application.g_fxx</tt> arrays.)

Adding custom column to a report

I'm a newbie using APEX 2.1 on Oracle XE.
I've created a simple page with a report which displays the list of rows in a table. I'd like to add an extra column to this report with an "Edit" button for each row. (So I can obviously edit individual rows in a separate window) But I can't see any way to alter the report output to be able to add extra columns.
Have I approached this the wrong way ? (NOTE: I don't want to edit the row in-situ in the table)

Try using the Form Wizard to create your pages. If you select the "Form on a Table with Report". It will for the most part do all the work for you. Then you just cleanup the UI to look the way you want it too.

Please solve Radio buttons (when selected) will then display on the report

Each of these new Radio buttons (when selected) will then display on the report in the same locations, which is after the existing columns.
Check boxes are by default checked.
When the 1st radio button is selected then a new column will be displayed in the ALV output
Next to A.

JTable: Selecting rows in columns independently

Dear all,
I have a JTable with two columns. I want the user to be able to select cells in columns independently. At present, the entire row gets marked as selected. Is it possible at all to, for instance, select row1 1 to 3 in column 1 and rows 4 to 5 in column 2? If so, where's the switch? Thanks a lot in advance!

Are you trying to use a seperate table for each column.
Thats not a good idear.
Here is what you have to do.
1. Create a sub class of JTable
2. You will have to redefine how the selection is done so. You will need some sort of a collection to store the list of selected cells indexes
2.1 Selecting a cell is simply adding the coordinations of the cell to the selection
2.2 de selecting is just removing it from the collection.
2.3 Here is what you have to override
     setColumnSelectionInterval()
     setColumnSelectionInterval()
     changeSelection()
     selectAll()
     getSelectedColumns()
     getSelectedColumn()
     getSelectedRows()
     getSelectedRow() You migh also need few new methods such as
     setCellSelected(int row, int column, boolean selected);
     boolean isCellSelected(int row, int column);
     clearSelection();
     int[][] getSelectedCells();You will have to implement the above in terms of your new data structure.
3. Handle mouse events.
Ex:- when user cicks on a cell if it is already selected it should be deselected (see 2.2)
other wise current selected should be cleared and the clicked cell should be selected
if your has pressed CTRL key while clicking the the cell should be selected without deselecting the old selection.
---you can use above using a MouseListener
When the user hold down a button and move the mouse accross multiple cell those need to be selected.
--- You will need a MouseMotionListener for this
You might also need to allow selection using key bord. You can do that using a KeyListener
4. Displaying the selection
You have to make sure only the selected cells are high lighted on the table.
You can do this using a simple trick.
(Just override getCellEditor(int row, int column) and getCellRenderer(int row, int column) )
Here is what you should do in getCellRenderer(int row, int column)

}What the above code does is it simply created wrapper for the Renderer and when generating the rendering component it replaces the isSeleted flag with our on selected flag
and the original renderer taken from the super class will do the rest.
You will have to do the same with the TableCellEditor.
By the way dont use above code as it is becouse the getCellRenderer method create a new instance of WrapperRenderer every time.
If the table has 10000 cells above will create 10000 instances. So you should refine above code.
5. Finnaly.
Every time the selection is changes you should make the table rerender the respective cells in or der to make the changes visible.
I'll leave that part for you to figure out.
A Final word
When implementing th above make sure that you do it in the java way of doing it.
For the collection of selected cells write following classes
TableCellSelectionModel // and interface which define what it does
DefaultTableCellSelectionModel //Your own implementation of above interface the table you create should use thisby default
//To communicate the selection changes
TableCellSelectionModelListener
TableCellSelectionModelEventif you read the javadoc about similer classes in ListSelectionModel you will get an idear
But dont make it as complex as ListSelectionModel try to keep the number of methods less than 5.
If you want to make it completly genaric you will have to resolve some issues such as handling changes to the table model.
Ex:- Rows and colums can be added and removed in the TableModle at the run time as a result the row and column indexes of some cells might change
and the TableCellSelectionModel should be updated with those changes.
Even though the todo list is quite long if you plan your implementation properly the code will not be that long.
And more importantly you will learn lots more by trying to implementing this.

I need to do different data selection on a column basis instead of on the whole report. Example, I have 3 General Ledger account numbers.
5100.HOURS
5100.OT
5100.ONCALL
I need to see the units for each of these accounts per customer. My report lists each of the 3 accounts on separate rows and I need them to be side by side in order to do caluculations on the 3 fields.
Th report should look like:
Customer Name Account   HOURS    Units     OT    Units    ONCALL     UNITS        Total
XYZ Corp.             5100        Hours        15        OT      3         ONCALL      2               20
At this time the report looks like the example below:
XYZ Corp.             5100        Hours        15
XYZ Corp.             5100        OT             3

Does anone know if this is possible and if so, how to do it?

A simple way to do this would be to group on customer name\account #.create 3 formulas@hoursif account = hours then units else 0@OTif account = OT then units else 0@OnCallif account = ONCALL then units else 0put these in the details section, sum each formulaand simply put in text fields for hours, ot, and oncall next to each of the sums and you will get the desired layout you are after

I've deleted some of the columns because they are all equal and by doing so, you have less problems in reading it.
In my method i have a matchEm but i'm trying to select a column by using this line:
        dimAnos.setColumnSelection("A2012");
dimAnos is the binding for my table Anos (Years in Portuguese). I even tried another values fro the columnSelection but i couldn't make it selected. Am i doing anything wrong?
Please help me or give me an idea of how can i do this.

Hi Frederico,
The method setColumnSelection is meant to set whether your table supports column selection or not. It doesn't select the column. In order to select the column, you need to set the column attribute Selected to true. So I don't know if its an option for you but you can create a binding to all the columns you have in you bean, and then call the method A2012.setSelected(true), and then add a partial target to the table to re render it and show the selected column.

How to select even the column names of a table?

Hello All,
Is there a way to select even the column names of a table in the select statement?
My select from a table (say X) is in a SQL* Plus script that gets invoked by application tier and displays data in the application tier window. User's can then copy the data into a spreadsheet and do their processing. However, I need to give them the column names too along with the data.

If there is a middle tier that is selecting and
displaying the data, and that's what the users are
copying from, the middle tier would have to address
its presentation of the data to allow users to
include column names. If this is a common task, the
application should probably be modified to give users
the option of downloading the data in a spreadsheet
directly rather than forcing them to copy and paste

The users don't have to copy paste. The application tier has an options in the "Tools" menu item which allows them to copy the entire output to a file (in my case a txt file which is a pipe delimited). Then they have to do text to columns to get the data into each column of the spreadsheet. I could have directly called the stored procedures from the application tier and created ".csv" files and FTP'd them to the user's folders. However, I am having to go this round about because, I am not getting enough support from the LAN team in FTP'ing etc.
OK I'll think of another workaround.
