Adding to beans

I will completely shorten this post just so i can get a roungh idea. I have a competitor bean like so.
package myWork;
import java.sql.*;
import java.util.Vector;
public class CompetitorBean {
     String nationality;
     String firstName;
     String lastName;
     String timeSet;
     public CompetitorBean(){
     //no param constructor (default) to comply with javabean rules
     public void setNationality(String n){
          nationality = n;
     public void setFirstName(String f){
          firstName = f;
     public void setLastName(String l){
          lastName = l;
     public void setTimeSet(String t){
          timeSet = t;
     public Vector searchCompetitors(String event2, String round2)throws SQLException{
          String event = event2;
          String round = round2;
          return CompetitorInfo.searchCompetitors(event, round);
}And i also have a CompetitorInfo class like so
package myWork;
import java.sql.*;
import java.util.Vector;
/**Class which creates a CompetitorInfo Object*/
public class CompetitorInfo {
     private String nationality;
     private String firstName;
     private String lastName;
     private String timeSet;
     /**param constructor requiring 4 parameters*/
     public CompetitorInfo(String nationality, String firstName, String lastName, String timeSet)
          this.nationality = nationality;
          this.firstName = firstName;
          this.lastName = lastName;
          this.timeSet = timeSet;
     public static void initialize()
          CompetitorDAO.initialize();
     public static void terminate()
          CompetitorDAO.terminate();
     public static CompetitorInfo newCompetitor(String nationality, String firstName, String lastName, String timeSet)throws SQLException{
     return CompetitorDAO.newCompetitor(nationality, firstName, lastName, timeSet);
     public static Vector searchCompetitors(String event, String round)throws SQLException{
          return CompetitorDAO.searchCompetitors(event, round);
     /**Get Nationality method*/
      public String getNationality() {
          return nationality;
      /**Set Nationality method*/
      public void setNationality(String nationality) {
          this.nationality = nationality;
      /**Get FirstName method*/
      public String getFirstname() {
          return firstName;
      /**Set FirstName method*/
      public void setFirstname(String firstName) {
          this.firstName = firstName;
      /**Get LastName method*/
      public String getLastname() {
          return lastName;
      /**Set LastName method*/
      public void setLastname(String lastName) {
          this.lastName = lastName;
      /**Get timeSet method*/
      public String getTime() {
          return timeSet;
      /**Set timeSet method*/
      public void setTime(String timeSet) {
          this.timeSet = timeSet;
}Now through my main servlet i would like to perform a search on the competitors in my database. The problem is that i want the search to be returned dependant on the choosen event and round (It will return a Vector of CompetitorInfo Objects). So can i add the methods setEvent and setRound into my CompetitorBean, even though they are not part of a CompetitorInfo Object?

Yes, the bean and the CompetitorInfo are basically the same, i was following my tutors examples, but was wondering why he needed both of them, i shall remove one. As far as adding event and round to my CompetitorBean, i have a jsp with two combo boxes. One the user chooses the event and the other the user chooses the round. When they click search, the parameters are passed the the searchCompetitor method in the CompetitorBean. Eventually, after a few other things, the method returns a Vector of competitors in that event and round (will change to ArrayList). I then need do display this list in my jsp in a table. So in my CompetitorMain class, which is my servlet i have
import myWork.*;
import java.io.*;
import java.text.*;
import java.util.*;
import javax.servlet.*;
import javax.servlet.http.*;
public class CompetitorMain extends HttpServlet {
     public void init() throws ServletException{
          super.init();
          myWork.CompetitorInfo.initialize();
          System.out.println("Init - Servlet");
     public void destroy() {
          super.destroy();
          myWork.CompetitorInfo.terminate();
          System.out.println("Destroy - Servlet");
     public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
     throws IOException, ServletException{
          doGet(request, response);
     public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
     throws IOException, ServletException{
          String address = null;
          String operation = null;
          if(request.getParameter("Submit")!=null){
               operation="Search";
          CompetitorBean  competitor = new CompetitorBean();
          request.setAttribute("competitor", competitor);
          if (operation.equals("Search")){
               address = "/SearchEdit.jsp";
               String event = ((String)request.getParameter("Events"));
               String round = ((String)request.getParameter("Rounds"));
               List<CompetitorInfo> searchResult = competitor.searchCompetitors(event, round);
          RequestDispatcher dispatcher = request.getRequestDispatcher(address);
          dispatcher.forward(request, response);
}So i am basically forwarding the List to my JSP. So how would i go about displaying it if its not a bean? Normally i would do somthing like
<jsp:useBean id="competitor" scope="request" type="myWork.CompetitorBean" />
<table border="1">
  <c:forEach var="item" begin="" items="${competitor.CompetitorInfo}">
  <tr>
    <td>${item.nationality}</td>
    <td>${item.firstName}</td>
    <td>${item.lastName}</td>
</tr>
</c:forEach>
</table>The method which gets the List is still in my Bean, so could i still display it like this?

  • Info on adding attachmentlink bean in Controller

    I need to add attachmentlink bean for PO_HEADERS entity in the controller code. I need to use PosPOSummaryVO as a view instance. I also needed to add 'FromSupplier' category filter.
    I have searched dev doc, forum and metalink for instructions. I really appreciate for any leads for the info.
    Thanks!
    Srini

    Srini,
    attachmentLink items are allowed through the personalization. You probably might be trying to add it at a place where it is not supported. Try to add a region first and then add the attachmentLink in that region.
    Avoid customization as long as personalization can be used.

  • Adding Java Bean to alot of Forms?

    What is the easiest/best way to add a Java Bean or PJC to alot of forms?

    I have tried with the following tool:
    http://forms.pjc.bean.over-blog.com/article-13596554.html
    I have created a jdapi_test.olb file in the Forms builder, add a tab named BEAN, then drag into it a block that contains a Bean Area (CTRL.BEAN), then save the object library.
    Here is what I put in the xml file:
      <!-- -------------------------------------- -->
      <!-- properties for single specified module -->
      <!-- -------------------------------------- -->
      <single_modules>
        <module>
          <name>D:/Projets/Atena/Forms/DnD/DND2.fmb</name>
          <compile>true</compile>
          <!-- olb subclassing -->
          <subclass_olb>
            <lib_name>D:\Projets\Atena\Forms\jdapiutil\jdapi_test.olb</lib_name>
            <tab_name>BEAN</tab_name>
            <object_num>1</object_num>
            <target_name>CTRL_BEAN</target_name>
          </subclass_olb>
        </module>
      </single_modules>
      ...And it worked fine. I could find the new CTRL_BEAN block with its Bean Area in my module.

  • Web-Service Proxy and Web-Service Client access in a Bean (EJB 3.0)

    Hello Community,
    i want to access the SAP Knowledge-Management via the Webservice "RepositoryFrameworkWS", which resides on our Portal-System, from my Java-Application, which runs on a NW CE 7.11 Ehp1 Java Server.
    I choosed to create a WS-Client as a deployable client. So i created an Bean Project, imported the WSDL and created a WS-Proxy in that project. Additionaly i added some beans to that Bean-Project which use the WS-Proxy to access the KM.
    So far so good.
    But the WSDL also creates a Service-Endpoint, which already has an url for the WS-Target and Authentication-Information (in my case it seems that no Authentication is active) in its body.
    Because my client shell run on different systems in the future i searched for a way to easiliy deploy my application and adapt target-information elsewhere. I found in the documentation, that after deploying the deployable WS-Proxy/Client this can be done in the NW-Administrator under SOA-Management->Application and Scenario Communication->Single Service Administration.
    To my surprise i found my deployed WS there. And the entry for the there listed Port was configurable. But unfortunatly this customization is ignored by the application. For example i changed authentication to a HTTP-Authentication with a specific user and also changed to Target-URL. But with no success.
    What's wrong here?
    i accessed the WS in my bean in the following way:
        public Class xyz
         @WebServiceRef (name="RepositoryFrameworkWS")
         RepositoryFrameworkWS service;
          RepositoryFrameworkWSViDocument vi = service.getPort(RepositoryFrameworkWSViDocument.class);
         vi.findResources(rid,....)

    Hi Matthias
    In Single Service Administration there are two views: Webservices and WS Clients configurations. First of all you should enable BASIC HTTP authentication in WS configuration. Then go to WS Client configuration and enter user/password in HTTP BASIC authentication settings.
    Hope this help.

  • Trouble when embedding a Bean in an Office Document

    Hello all,
    I have to embed a Java Bean into an ActiveX Container like a MS Office document via the axbridge.
    Let me mention, what I have (successfully) done so far:
    - Create a Java Bean
    - Create a Jar file (incl. the manifest file)
    - Run the packager and register the Object
    - Test the control in the MS ActiveX Control Test Container
    System: Win2k, JSDK 1.4.2, JRE 1.4.2_03, Office 2000, Visual C++ 6.0 SP 3
    The ActiveX control works fine in the MS test container. When I try to embed it in another Container like a MS Office document or Macromedia Authoware, the Container Program hangs up without an error message. Also the Java Console contains no message.
    On the other side, the Control can successfully be created and used within VBA:
    Sub myTestApplet()
        Set myTest = CreateObject("TestApplet.Bean.1")

        Set myTest = Nothing
    End Sub Doing so, the control works correctly, but isnt displayed in the document.
    I tried to use different Superclasses for the Bean like Component, JComponent, Panel etc. and at last I used an empty Bean inherited from JComponent. Every try works well in the MS test container, but as soon as I try to embed it into an Office-Document the Application hangs up.
    The ActiveX Bridge from the 1.4.2 SDK/JRE Bundle doesnt work at all, even not in the MS test container. Thus I installed the 1.4.2_03 JRE, which makes the controls work in the MS test container (but still not in other Containers).
    Can somebody help me? I have no idea for a workaround and Im blocked now. Any advice is very welcome!
    Regards,
    Oliver

    Thank you very much for your interest at my problem.
    I try to describe exactly, what I do: I want to integrate a Java3D program into a Macromedia Authorware application. Therefore I want to convert the Java3D program into an ActiveX control (and use the ActiveX Bridge). Authorware must be able to access methods of the J3D program and the J3D program must be able to throw events to Authorware. I think this is nothing special for an ActiveX control.
    In order to avoid additional problems, I use a simple test application without Java3D (source code enclosed).
    I work on:
    WindowsXP,
    JSDK 1.4.2, JRE 1.4.2_3,
    Visual C++ 6.0 SP3 and I also tried Visual Studio .NET.
    Authorware 7
    MS Office 2000
    What have I done so far?
    - compiled the code and created a jar archive (manifest file enclosed)
    - packaged and registered the Bean as described in http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/beans/axbridge/developerguide/index.html
    - successfully tested the ActiveX control in the ActiveX Control Test Container. The exported methods appear (and work) correctly when I choose "invoke methods".
    Now to the problem(s): If I try to embed the control in Authorware or an office document via the ToolBox, the container program hangs up. But as already mentioned above, Visual Basic .NET embeds the control successfully. Therefore I try to create an ActiveX control in VB .NET, which integrates my Java Bean. Let's say a wrapper control. Here are the steps:
    - I opened Visual Studio .NET and created a new VB project based on template "Windows Application".
    - added the Bean to the ToolBox
    - added the Bean into the VB Form.
    - added a button into the form. The form designer created the Bean and button as:Friend WithEvents AxActiveXTest1 As AxActiveXTest.AxActiveXTest
    Friend WithEvents Button1 As System.Windows.Forms.Button
    Me.AxActiveXTest1 = New AxActiveXTest.AxActiveXTest()
    Me.Button1 = New System.Windows.Forms.Button() - in the form designer double clicked the button and entered the following code: Private Sub Button1_Click_1(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
        Me.AxActiveXTest1.appendText("Hello World")
    End Sub- test the form and click on the VB button.
    Now the error message listed above appears ("cannot invoke method 'appendText' at this time"). I have no idea, why VB crashes when I try to access a method of the Bean. Somewhere I must have made an error. Each assistance is very welcome.
    Thank you in advance and please excuse my less good English.

  • Removing a CMP Entity Bean

    I'm trying to remove a CMP Entity Bean from my project but after I do this the application becomes useless. When I start the application afterwards I get such a warning:
    "TopLink found problems in toplink-ejb-jar. Please ensure that there are corrected before deployment"
    After that, at runtime, there are lots of DescriptorExceptions, IntegrityExceptions and NullPointerExceptions. When I added the bean once more I get a bunch of compilation errors because of multiple declarations of the bean methods. I removed the bean once again, closed JDeveloper and removed all reference to that bean within the project (grep). Despite that I am unable to get rid of the aforementioned errors. What should I do?

  • Bean State is not maintained in producer

    Hi,
    In my application, whenever we click on the 'Add' button, document is added to bean and page is submited again and the same apge is displayed. For e.g, I have employeeDetails.xhtml apge and whenver I add any document, document is added to Bean, and employeeDetails.xhtml page is shown again. but now in portal, employeeDetails apge after adding docuemnt is throwing exception. the reason which we found out is that, bean state is not meintained and due to which RenderRequest reinitializes the bean and all saved data is lost.
    Can you pelase help on this?

    In Create Mode od material Master: MM01 Enter the material code & enter the same in Reference material & enter. In the next step select Purchasing, as it refers to not have maintained & enter Organization data & enter. Now maintain Purchasing Tab page.
    This process in SAP is known as Extending Material Master.  You can extend the material master for adding Views not maintained, also for extending material to another plant or combination of Sales Org & Distribution Channel, & so on ...
    Hope this resolves your issue.
    Regards,
    Rajesh Banka

  • Updating / Creating new Beans

    Whenever I update or create a new bean, I can't seem to read anything from the bean, although it seems to have no problem recognizing that the bean is there.
    All my old beans work just fine, but whenever I make a change to one or add one, I can't use it. All my fields retrieve as "" (strings).
    I'm running tomcat, and my beans have all been properly compiled and put in WEB-INF\classes\packagename
    Thanks,
    --k

    They are identical to any other variable in the bean, just renamed obviously.
    In JSP page:
    <jsp:useBean id="sLibBean" class="releaseFormBeans.subLibBeanRDATE" scope="session"/>
    Bean:
    For:
    package releaseFormBeans;
    import java.util.*;
    import java.text.*;
    public class starTeamBuildBeanRDATE
    These were added:
         String paramRdate = "";
         String paramRtime = "";
         String paramRzone = "";
    added to bean with get/set methods added as well.
    thanks,

  • Trying to use ProgressBar demo to build own bean

    Hello, I have a working form and I'm experimenting with PJCs. I'm using the progress bar demo as the starting point. My form only shows a grey box; communication with the bean does not seem to work.
    I have added a bean area to my form. I have created jar file with two classes: an LWComponent and a VBean. I have formsweb.cfg ARCHIVE referencing this jar (along with frmall.jar). I have the jar file in the CLASSPATH in the default.env file. The jar exists in the directory referenced in class path (and has permissions to it). I have signed the jar using a modified sign_webutil.sh (it appears to succeed). I have restarted OC4J.
    I have a when-button-pressed trigger set to do this:
    BEGIN
    SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY('IMAGEVIEWERPJC', 1, 'CLEARALL', 1);
    SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY('IMAGEVIEWERPJC', 1, 'APPR_ID', :appraisal.app_id);
    SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY('IMAGEVIEWERPJC', 1, 'CONNSTR', GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(CONNECT_STRING));
    SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY('IMAGEVIEWERPJC', 1, 'POPIMAGES', 1);
    Message('Should have: ' || :appraisal.app_id || ' Got: ' || GET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY('IMAGEVIEWERPJC', 1, 'APPR_ID'));
    SET_CUSTOM_ITEM_PROPERTY('IMAGEVIEWERPJC', 'CLEARALL', 1);
    SET_CUSTOM_ITEM_PROPERTY('IMAGEVIEWERPJC', 'APPR_ID', :appraisal.app_id);
    SET_CUSTOM_ITEM_PROPERTY('IMAGEVIEWERPJC', 'CONNSTR', GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(CONNECT_STRING));
    SET_CUSTOM_ITEM_PROPERTY('IMAGEVIEWERPJC', 'POPIMAGES', 1);
    Message('Should have: ' || :appraisal.app_id || ' Got: ' || GET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY('IMAGEVIEWERPJC', 1, 'APPR_ID'));
    END;
    The bean should should see the POPIMAGES property being set and then use the other information to access a database and display images. But the bean area is always grey.
    The messages show that :appraisal.app_id is "46" (which is correct) and "Got: " is blank(null). So the beans APPR_ID property is not being set.
    I don't seem to be able to communicate with the bean... IF it's even running.
    I'm hoping there is an obvious step that I'm missing. 8-)
    Thank you for any help.

    New development: I modified formsweb.cfg. This time the webutilarchive variable. It now looks like this:
    WebUtilArchive=frmwebutil.jar, jacob.jar, ImageViewerProfile.jar
    After restarting OC4J and hitting the URL, a window popped up and said "downloading libraries"; three progress bars, one after the other, zipped by. Then the pop-up went away.
    Woohoo!
    The java bean area is still grey. And my button still doesn't change anything. And the debug messages I output still show that forms is not able to get/set any of the beans properties.
    But I got a pop-up!! 8-)

  • Weblogic not finding javax.naming classes when instantiating bean

    Hello,
              I am developing a JSP which contains a JavaBean.
              This bean is a wrapper for a session EJB, the getProperty() methods in
              the bean call methods on the EJB's remote interface.
              I have tested this bean as a stand alone application by adding a
              main(String[] args) method to it and it works.
              However, when adding the bean to the JSP, the JSP does not show in the
              browser, I get a n internal server error 500 instead.
              It seems that Weblogic is not finding the javax.naming.NamingException

              yes, weblogicaux.jar is definitely in the weblogic.class.path. i've even tried starting the server from the command line, declaring the classes there. my "trade.xml" document has the URI set as "http://localhost:7001/BizTalkServer". when i enter this on the "BizClient.jsp" form, i get the error discussed below. however, if i enter "http://localhost:7001", even though this is not the explicit location of the BizTalk server, the server returns:
              Thank you! Your trade has been recieved. A BizTalk document has been sent to http://localhost:7001/ with the following information: etc...............
              So there appears to be something wrong with the "/BizTalkServer" setup on my machine. Any ideas?

  • Error displaying Bean

    Hi, I have made a bean (a JPanel) in netBeans using the palette. It consists of a couple of textFields and one textArea and one jLabel.
    When I created a new application and added the bean to the palette, I tried to drop the bean on to the panel however the bean does not show up on the panel.. it does however show up on the Inspector, so i know it's adding but its displaying incorrectly.
    anyone know whats up?

    That's because you are trying to ouput an Arraylist of your Bean (with your Properties).
    You canno't bind an arraylist to only one outputText-field. That's why you are getting this kind of error.
    When you need to output the entire arrayList, you need a h:dataTable around your outputText, and iterating through your List of props.
    Example:
    <h:dataTable var="myprops" value="#{applicationErrorBean.appError}" .... >
      <h:column>
        <h:outputText value="#{myprops.appServer}" />
      </h:column>
    </h:dataTable>Hope, that helps!

  • Web based worklist not working...

    Hello,
    (on wlpi 2.1 on weblogic sp2)
    I've created a process that utilizes a stateless session bean. Every thing works
    fine when using the fat-client worklist.
    I wanted to use the web-based worklist with my process, so I did the following:
    1.) Installed the %wlint_home%/samples/bpm_api/jsp/worklist.war from the weblogic
    console.
    2.) Tweaked the "startWeblogic.cmd" file (I'm in NT) to add the wlpi-worklist.jar
    file into the classpath. (this is all in the reamde file in %wlint_Home%/samples/bpm_api/jsp/)
    This works at first, as I can get to the login screen, but as soon as I log in, I
    get a "Classnotfound error" saying it can't find my home interface for my session
    bean.
    So, I figured, "Must not be in the classpath (somehow)". I added my bean .jar file
    into the classpath, and then try again. I get a different error that says "Classnotfound
    error" for the EJBHelper. Same error happens on the fat client in both cases.
    I can simply take out my startWeblogic classpath changes, and restart the server,
    and the fat-client works again (but the jsp worklist doesn't not -- no surprise.)
    Has anyone been able to get the jsp-based worklist to work with a process that uses
    an EJB?

    I totally lost my internet connection via the router WRT54GS V6
    I am connected directly into the computer from my cable modem.
    I have tried everything. Upgarded firmware, factory default reset, setting the software again and again.
    When I run Easylink Advisor it always reads, no internet...like I said the modem is working when plugged directly into my computer.
    All proper lights are working on the router and modem.
    Could the router be just be broken?
    It seems to be getting worse and worse.
    help please.

    There are two scenarios one of which is working and the other is not. The details are below:
    Scenario 1: (Working)
    There is an ejb module in the ear (say ModA) which has two session beans (SessionA and SessionB having Remote interfcaes RemoteIntA and RemoteIntB).
    There is another ejb module in the ear (say ModB) which has few more session beans.
    Now I want to add an ejb which will extend from SessionA.
    So, I did following changes:
    i. added a remote interface in ModB - RemoteIntPA implements RemoteIntA
    ii. added session bean SessionPA extends SessionA implements RemoteIntPA
    iii. added ejb related annotations in SessionPA and removed the annotations from SessionA (i.e., SessionA is just a normal class by itself)
    Now in the application.xml I declare both modules (ModA and ModB) as ejb modules.
    I deploy the application everything works fine.
    Scenario 2: (Not Working)
    For some reason, I didn't required SessionB in ModA (which was the only ejb bean left in that module as SessionA was converted to normal java class). So I removed SessionB and RemoteIntB.
    Now as there are no ejb beans in ModA, I cannot define this as ejb module in application.xml and hence I defined it as java module.
    Now if I deploy the same application, I get the exception mentioned above.
    I think it has to do with the classpath issue. But how is that the classpath issue is arising when I declaring a module as java and not when I declare it as ejb. I have this module in classpath of ModB. So it doesn't matter what type of module it is.
    Am I missing something?
    Please help me in this regards.

  • Problem hiding userid etc in cookie using 10.1.2.0.2 Forms and Reports

    Hi
    Background
    I am new to 10.1.2.0.2 Forms and Reports and also to Application Server - though not to Oracle forms and reports. We are currently converting from 6i.
    Due to security concerns we would very much like to use the FrmReportsInteg Bean (or like) to hide userid connect string in a temporary and encrypted cookie when trying to run a report from a form (and the report has a report parameter screen that we want to display).
    Firstly I have to decide how we are going to use reports via the Developer Suite -for development work. Then I have to work out how to do it via the Application Server - for testing and production. So if you have two variations of any solutions - one for DS and one for AS, could you give both please?
    Problem
    Problem is that I cannot get the bean to work. I get report parameter form displaying ok, hit submit and then get the Database User Authentication window poppling up with the "REP-51018: Need database user authentication" error that I've noticed a few other people in this forum have had too. If the user id etc is then entered in this window, the report parameter form redisplays (from a second html) and submitting this causes the report to display. Don't like the Database User Authentication window poppling up and don't like the second parameter form - html for this has the userid etc in it.
    For me though I can't even get the bean to output any logs. Got any ideas to help me at least output some logs?
    Also do I have to do anything to the browser (IE6) to get it to read the cookies?
    Do I need to change the bean code for the DS in some way - eg to avoid using domain name (as I noticed in another thread)?
    My code exactly follows the whitepaper and I also carefully followed the instructions for adding the bean to the form and configuring the forms services - as per white paper.
    Looking forward to some answers
    Pamela
