Adding users using XML

The examples for adding users to iFS work fine, but do I have to create an XML file for every user I want to add? I tried to create an XML file with more than one <SimpleUser> definitions, but iFS reports an "unexpected end of file" error at the position where the second User definition starts.

Using the standard <object_list> tag to parse a list of simpleuser tags should work:

Included inside <objectlist> tags, it works fine. Thank you very much.

There are many good resources for Powershell tutorials. The MS help page for each cmdlet is usually a good place to start.
The suggested answer is very good and easy to modify to your needs. The linked article provides good detail on creating your csv file. If you look at their sample csv, you will see the column for LicenseAgreement and UsageLocation. You can change the script
to use the values from the csv instead of the same value for every user like so:
-LicenseAssignment $_.LicenseAgreement -UsageLocation $_UsageLocation
Basically, $_.<valuename> is the filled in by the value under the heading <valuename> in your csv file for the current user.
As for what msdivision, replace this with the correct domain name value for your organization. You can get the values for license SKUs from existing users by using the following:
Connect-MsolService
Get-MsolUser -UserPrincipalName <userprincipalname> |select Licenses

• Issue with adding users using Claims

Hello,
We have a SharePoint 2013 environment. We just introduced a third party claims provider. Before I ha a script that would provision a site collections and in the process add a user as a secondary site collection admin (script1). That was working just fine.
However, since we no longer user classic claim my script is now failing. I tried tweaking it by looking up the user's claims ID and plug it in the script but that is now working (script 2). Any idea how to get around this hurdle?
Thanks
script 1
$siteurl = http://mysite
$siteCollectionUrl = $siteurl
$site =new-object Microsoft.SharePoint.SPSite($siteCollectionUrl)
$web = $site.RootWeb
$secondayAdministrator = $web.EnsureUser("domain\username")
$site.SecondaryContact = $secondayAdministrator
Script 2
$siteurl = http://mysite
$siteCollectionUrl = $siteurl
$site =new-object Microsoft.SharePoint.SPSite($siteCollectionUrl)
$web = $site.RootWeb
$secondayAdministrator = $web.EnsureUser("i:0?.t|claim|domain\username")
$site.SecondaryContact = $secondayAdministrator

Hi Mike,
As you are using third party claim provider in SharePoint, then we cannot use the user name in the format domain\username when calling the EnsureUser API.
To be safe, we need to get the encoded claim value for the user and pass that into the EnsureUser method.
Please check the PowerShell script below:
$claim = New-SPClaimsPrincipal -Identity domain\username -IdentityType WindowsSamAccountName
$web.EnsureUser($claim.ToEncodedString());

Is it possible to add a user using web services? I am trying to do this using .net but I am getting errors. I was able to search and delete users!

I will look into this. The only thing is, I was able to update, remove and search users using web services in .net, but I don't understand why can't I add a user using the same web service? The method of creating a local user is available in the web service! I even tried adding a user and I get the following error:

doesn't this mean it is trying to create a user?

• What is the difference between using the command "dsmgmt" and the "Managed By" tab when adding users to the local administrators Account on a Read-Only Domain Controller?

When I use the
"dsmgmt" command to add a user to the local administrators account of a RODC I can actually see the user when I use the "Show Role Administrators" parameter. However, I can't see the members of the
group added to the "Managed By" tab of the RODC object in AD. Even though, the users added using
"dsmgmt" and by the "Managed By" tab can all log in locally and have admin rights to the RODC. Are there any differences between these two ways of adding users to the local administrators account?

Hi,
For groups, managedBy is an administrative convenience to designate “group admins”. Whatever principal listed in
managedBy gets permission to update a group’s membership (the actual security is updated on the group’s AD object to allow this).
In Win2008 and later managedBy also became the way you delegated local administration on an RODC, allowing branch admins to install patches, manage shares, etc. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc755310(WS.10).aspx).
On the RODC, this is updating the RepairAdmin registry value within RODCRoles.
So the difference between them should be only the way they do the same thing.

• Adding Users in OIM using SPML

Hi,
In our project we have a requirement where we have to create a user in OID/OIM. The existing code connects to OIMProvisioning using SPML to search, add and modify users. In SPML we couldn’t find any basedn being set while adding user or searching for user.
a. It would be helpful if someone who has knowledge on OID/OIM and SPML to let me know how to query or add users in a specific BaseDN using SPML.
b. I would like to know if it is possible to update both OID and OIM using SPML.

when trying to add User to Group using BAPI_USER_CHANGE in the Import Parameters GROUPSX = X
I'm getting following error :

BAPI_USER_CHANGE function work correctly for other parameters such as ADDRESSX, DEFAULTSX, PASSWORDX, LOGONDATAX, ALIASX
But in case GROUPSX I am getting above error.
Also I could able to add all above attributes including GROUPSX to user using sap logon. so it should be possible from BAPI as well.
Any input will be appreciated.

My bad,
I meant GROUPS is not an input parameter but a table parameter.

• Dynamic binding of items in sap.m.Table using XML views

Dear SAPUI5 guru's,
Let's start by saying I'm an ABAP developer who's exploring SAPUI5, so I'm still a rookie at the time of writing. I challenged myself by developing a simple UI5 app that shows information about my colleagues like name, a pic, address data and their skills. The app uses the sap.m library and most of the views are XML based which I prefer.
The data is stored on an ABAP system and exposed via a gateway service. This service has 2 entities: Employee and Skill. Each employee can have 0..n skills and association/navigation between these 2 entities is set up correctly in the service. The data of this service is fetched from within the app using a sap.ui.model.odata.ODataModel model.
The app uses the splitApp control which shows the list of employees on the left side (master view). If a user taps an employee, the corresponding details of the employee entity are shown on the right (detail view).
Up till here everything is fine but I've been struggling with my latest requirement which is: show the skills of the selected employee in a separate XML view when the user performs an action (for the time being, I just created a button on the detail view to perform the action). After some hours I actually got it working but I doubt if my solution is the right way to go. And that's why I'm asking for your opinion here.
Let's explain how I got things working. First of all I created a new XML view called 'Skills'. The content on this view is currently just a Table with 2 columns:
<core:View xmlns:core="sap.ui.core" xmlns:mvc="sap.ui.core.mvc" xmlns="sap.m"
controllerName="com.pyramid.Skills" xmlns:html="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<Page title="Skills"
showNavButton="true"
navButtonPress="handleNavButtonPress">

<columns>
<Column>

</Column>
<Column>

</Column>
</columns>

</Page>
</core:View>
The button on the Detail view calls function showSkills:
showSkills: function(evt) {
var context = evt.getSource().getBindingContext();
this.nav.to("Skills", context);
var skillsController = this.nav.getView().app.getPage("Skills").getController();
skillsController.updateTableBinding();
Within 'this.nav.to("Skills", context);' I add the Skills view to the splitApp and set its bindingContext to the current binding context (e.g. "EmployeeSet('000001')"). Then I call function updateTableBinding in the controller of the Skills view which dynamically binds the items in the table based on the selected employee. So, when the ID of the selected employee is '000001', the path of the table's item binding should be "/EmployeeSet('000001')/Skills"
updateTableBinding: function(){
var oTemplate = new sap.m.ColumnListItem(
{cells: [
new sap.m.Text({text : "{Name}"}),
new sap.m.Text({text : "{Rating}"})
var oView = this.getView();
var oTable = oView.byId("skillsTable");
var oContext = oView.getBindingContext();
var path = oContext.sPath + "/Skills";
oTable.bindItems(path, oTemplate);
Allthough it works fine, this is where I have my first doubt. Is this the correct way to bind the items? I tried to change the context that is passed to this.nav.to and wanted it to 'drill-down' one level, from Employee to Skills, but I couldn't manage to do that.
I also tried to bind using the items aggregation of the table within the XML declaration (
). This works fine if I hard-code the employee ID but off course this ID needs to be dynamic.
Any better suggestions?
The second doubt is about the template parameter passed to the bindItems method. This template is declared in the controller via javascript. But I'm using XML views! So why should I declare any content in javascript?? I tried to declare the template in the XML view itself by adding an items tag with a ColumnListItem that has an ID:
<items>
<ColumnListItem
id="defaultItem">
<cells>
<Text text="{Name}"/>
</cells>
<cells>
<Text text="{Rating}"/>
</cells>
</ColumnListItem>
</items>
Then, in the updateTableBinding function, I fetched this control (by ID), and passed it as the template parameter to the bindItems method. In this case the table shows a few lines but they don't contain any data and their height is only like 1 mm! Does anyone know where this strange behaviour comes from or what I'm doing wrong?
I hope I explained my doubts clearly enough. If not, let me know which additional info is required.
Looking forward to your opinions/suggestions,
Rudy Clement.

Hi everybody,
I found this post by searching for a dynamic binding for well acutally not the same situation but it's similar to it. I'm trying to do the following. I'm having a list where you can create an order. On the bottom of the page you'll find a button with which you're able to create another order. All the fields are set to the same data binding ... so the problem is if you've filled in the values for the first order and you'll press the button you'll get the same values in the second order. Is it possible to generate a dynamic binding?
I'm going to post you a short code of what I'm meaning:
<Input type="Text" value="{path: 'MyModel>/Order/0/Field1'}" id="field1">
<layoutData>
<l:GridData span="L11 M7 S3"></l:GridData>
</layoutData>

As you can see I need to set the point of "0" to a dynamic number. Is there any possibility to reach this???
Hope you can help
Greetings
Stef

• Crystal reports using xml at run time??

Post Author: avnkkishore
CA Forum: General
Hi,
I have very simple requirement.
I would like to create a crystal
report using XML. This
XML file will be decided at run time
(not at design time).
Hence i have added a crystal report viewer control to my windows form and did
not choose any data source (i left it blank currently). Now i am trying to load
XML file with the following simple code.
PropertyBag
crLogOnDetails = new PropertyBag();
crLogOnDetails["Local XML File"] = @"C:\Hosts.xml";
crLogOnDetails["Local Schema File"] = @"C:\Hosts.xsd";
ConnectionInfo conn = new ConnectionInfo();
conn.Attributes = crLogOnDetails;
// create
"Host" table
CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.Table tbl;
tbl = new
CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.Table();
tbl.Name =
"Host";
tbl.ConnectionInfo = conn;
rcDoc.DatabaseController.AddTable(tbl, null);
I am getting exception exactly at the above line (i.e. when adding table to
Database Controller) saying "COMException was unhandled" with error code
0x80004005 Unspecified error.
Can any one please help me regarding how to resolve this.
Thanks in advance,
Kishore

I am using VB6 as the front end and Microsoft Access to hold the data and Crystal Reports 8.5. I have a staff name parameter that I want the user to select which staff name to print the report. If there is

Hi,
I am afraid that these forums don't support VB6, you could refer to this thread:

• Using XML as persistance

I'm re-writing a swing client that uses regular serialization to files in order to save user data. The data that needs to be persisted to file is very hierarchical by nature. I'm using MVC throughout the application.
Now, I'm considering using XML as the file format for the persistence. I've written an XML schema (xsd) that dictates the data model.
As I've stumbled upon XStream before I first had a look at that for marshalling/unmarshalling my XML. XStream is wonderful but it kind of makes the XML schema validation useless as I see it. So, now I'm looking at JAXB (or maybe XMLBeans) instead as the API between my XML files model layer in the application.
Basically, what I'm looking for is a convenient way to read XML data from file into my data model. Obviously I want to be able to create XML from my data model as well. Will JAXB really save me from doing all the mapping between the XML and data model (POJO's) based on my XML schema?
Am I barking at the wrong tree here? Also, please stop me if you think that XML are a ridiculous way of persisting application data.
Thanks in advance!

Thank you for your input DrClap!
My Swing app is kind of a CAD app where users can make drawings of marinas. Objects can be moved, rotated, connected to each other and grouped and each object has a set of properties. The drawing layout, object props and calculation parameters needs to be persistent. Think MS Visio... Target audience is marine engineers that needs to make force calulations.
Generating an xml file from my xml schema produces a file on about 7Kb (about 200 lines). A real life file would probably be at least 10 times bigger.
I don't see an issue with updating or adding single elements in the XML. This is only done when the user saves to file, in all other cases the application would store data in the model layer. And as I understand it JAXB would handle all XML marhsalling/unmarshalling automagically.
The only thing I'm worried about is having JAXB generating the model classes from my xml schema (xsd). Since I'm working with MVC my current model classes all fire property change events to its controllers whenever a setter is called. This would be lost if JAXB would generate the model for me. Am I right? My assumption with JAXB/XMLBeans is that you update the model by changing your xml schema and then generate/compile you model classes (and ObjectFactory).
Thank you for taking your time to read this!

• How to generate the User-Input XML Body for executing workflows via REST APIs: The Solution

I see that executing a workflow via REST APIs requires lot of work to be done just to prepare the right User-input XML body. Any mistake and you have some major debugging to do. Larger the number of User-Inputs, the bigger is the problem.Life is so much easier at the WFA GUI with Display names and tooltip help for User Inputs which are very easy for reading and providing the right values. I don't have any such privileges when manually preparing the User-Input XML body.It’s been asked numerous times how to provide User-Input values for type table, or Query (Multi-Select) etc. These are complex User-Input types and has lots of scope for user mistakes.I can have User-input dependency at WFA GUI which allows me to make the right selection, but while preparing my XML body I need to take care of it myself.An operator is allowed to execute workflows, but the same Display names which help him make the right user-inputs, makes it impossible for him to prepare the user-input body xml. Display names can't be used in in XML body and he can't know the exact parameter names by looking at the Display names. So he need to always contact the Admins/Architects for this. And Architects/Admins can't be expected to keep providing User-Input XML body to operators every operator. How about if I could enter all the User-Input values in my workflow execution at WFA GUI, I can do a preview which passed to my satisfaction and then I can magically get the XML body for it which I can use to execute my workflow from REST APIs from any client. It could be so very much easy for me than building my User-Input XML body manually. This is exactly what I'm going to give you right now. You open the WFA in browser, Go to your workflow, Start execution, you input values from GUI reading carefully the display names, preview it to your satisfaction and then get the XML body. Assume your workflow is called “Workflow to Print a given Message”. It’s a simple workflow with only 1 user-input Displayed as "Message to Print" Prerequisites: The following are the one-time prerequisites. You need PowerShell 3.0 on your WFA server.Import the attached Generate_Workflow_User_Input_Body_in_XML.dar in your WFA. It’s our magical command called "Generate Workflow User Input Body in XML"Add credentials of a WFA Admin/Architect in you WFA itself with Name/IP: localhostMatch: ExactType: OtherName/IP: localhostUsername: <WFA Admin/Architect Username>Password: <User Password> Steps: Suppose you have a workflow called "Workflow to Print a given Message". You want to execute it from REST apis and need to prepare the user input XML body. Select this workflow and clone it. The workflow clone is the exact copy of your original workflow word by word, input-by-input. It will open in Edit mode with name "Workflow to Print a given Message - copy".Add the command "Generate Workflow User Input Body in XML" at the beginning of your workflow. This is a must. This command need to be the first command in your cloned workflow.This command requires no input. So for its Parameters just press okay and save the workflow.You are done.Now Execute the clone workflow. You'll see all the user-inputs available to you. Make your choices as you wish. Preview it to confirm that planning is passed and u have no errors.Execute it now.You'll see that the our magical command "Generate Workflow User Input Body in XML" has failed in our clone workflow execution. Don't worry, its fate was decided to be so. But it didn't fail before giving me what I really wanted. i.e. my XML body for my real workflow. It displayed it in the GUI as well as saved it in your WFA server @ C:\temp\<workflow_name_dd_MM_yyyy_hh_mm_ss_.xmlIt also deleted all the reservations of this particular failed job. So NO major residue left to be cleaned.To summarize: Clone Your workflow and Add the command "Generate Workflow User Input Body in XML" as your first command. Start Execution, provide your User-inputs and preview it. Be satisfied and Press Okay. Now Execute it. After a few scconds this cloned workflow will fail with Error "All done. The Workflow will fail now." See the command execution logs for this command. You'll see the User-Input XML body. It has also saved the XML file at C:\temp in your WFA server. Have fun. sinhaa

Providing a new version 1.1.0 of the command "WFA Schedular" Changes made: Added conditional String Representation based on the Scheduling parameter provided. Provided check for the right number of parameters passed into the command.Added a new parameter "Expiry Date" to automatically stop the recurring execution upon expiry.Check for Posh3.0 version in code.Have Fun!! sinhaa Below example for:Schedule a workflow for recurring execution every alternate day i.e. once in 2 days at 10:30 PM starting 06-Jul-2015 (Today's date is 02-Jul-2015) . The recurring workflow execution should expire on 31-Dec-2015 and stop.

• AR: Journal Entries Report Convert to Excel using XML

Hi All,
The Client ask to add a column and change the output format to Excel (using XML Publish) to the standard report " AR: Journal Entries Report" whish is Spawned ..

Print Detail By Account , Print Detail By Category , Print Summary By Account , Print Summary By Category
and each one of them has different layout
Now i want to know
1- the ability of adding a column to this report (SPAWNED)
2- The ability of translating the output to EXCEL,PDF,RTF (using XML Publisher)
I Know the steps of how to convert a report to XML using data definition and template, but the spawned program calls the "Journal Entries Report - Output" by specific parameters and doesn't mention the template name that will be used or output type of the template
as if i'll create 4 templates one for each layout how to let the Main report calls the output report giving it the correct template that should be displayed
Best Regards,
Amir

Sure i used it , and i created many templates for it with different layouts ,

• Error while adding a used relationship between the New DC and the Web DC

Hi Gurus
We are getting the Error in NWDS while Adding a used relationship between the New DC and the Web DC.
Steps what we are Done
1. Create the custom project from inactiveDC's
2.creating the project for the component crm/b2b in SHRAPP_1
3.After that we changed the application.xml and given the contect path.
4.Then we tried to add Dependency to the custom create DC we are getting the error saying that illegal deppendency : the compartment sap.com_CUSTCRMPRJ_1 of DC sap.com/home/b2b_xyz(sap.com.CUSTCRMPRJ_1) must explicitly use compartment sap.com_SAP-SHRWEB_1 of DC sap.com/crm/isa/ like that it was throwing the error.
so, we skip this step and tried to create the build then it is saying that build is failed..
Please help us in this regard.
Awaiting for ur quick response...
Regards
Satish

Hi
Please Ignore my above message.
Thanks for ur Response.
After ur valuble inputs we have added the required dependencies and sucessfully created the projects, then building of the projects was also sucessfully done and EAR file was created.
We need to deploy this EAR file in CRM Application Server by using the interface NWDI.
For Deploying the EAR into NWDI, we need to check-in the activites what i have created for EAR. once i check-in the activites ,the NWDI will deploy the EAR into CRM Application Server.
In the Activity Log we are able to check the Activities as Suceeded but the Deployment column is not showing any status.
When i right click on my activity Id the deployment summery is also disabled.
So finally my Question is that where can i get the deployment log file, and where can i check the deployment status for my application..
Any pointers in this regard would be of great help..
Awaiting for ur valuble Responses..
Regards
Satish

• How Do You Use XML To Create Image Upload On A WebSite?

Hello,
Could some one please help me understand how to create web image gallery and web video gallery using XML? I have found few xml codes that could be used to do this but I am not so sure how to use them. I want my clients to be able upload images and videos with linking thumbnails to Image and or Videos. Do you think the codes I included in this question will help me achive this goal? And do I need to put all in one and in the same directory so it will work? Please help with your idea and tell me how you would use these codes and how you may step-by-step implement the idea your self to your own web site.
I have also included the instruction I found on the web with the codes.
Starting with You Tube, API on their video gallery, here are the codes I found,
Assume you are to use the YouTube, XML code; What will you change here so it will work on your own www.domain.com?
<% Dim xml, xhr, ns, YouTubeID, TrimmedID, GetJpeg, GetJpeg2, GetJpeg3, thumbnailUrl, xmlList, nodeList, TrimmedThumbnailUrl Set xml = Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.FreeThreadedDOMDocument")
xml.async = False
xml.setProperty "ServerHTTPRequest", True
xml.Load("http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/Shuggy23/favorites?orderby=updated") If xml.parseError.errorCode <> 0 Then
Response.Write xml.parseError.reason End If Set xmlList = xml.getElementsByTagName("entry") Set nodeList = xml.SelectNodes("//media:thumbnail") For Each xmlItem In xmlList
YouTubeID = xmlItem.getElementsByTagName("id")(0).Text
TrimmedID = Replace(YouTubeID, "http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/videos/", "")
For Each xmlItem2 In nodeList
thumbnailUrl = xmlItem2.getAttribute("url")
Response.Write thumbnailUrl & "
"
Next     Next
%>
For the image gallery, the following are the codes I found with your experience do I need to use the entire codes or just some of them that I should use?
CODE #01Converting Database queries to XML
Using XML as data sources presumes the existence of XML. Often, it is easier to have the server create the XML from a database on the fly. Below are some scripts for common server models that do such a thing.
These are starting points. They will need to be customized for your particular scenario.
All these scripts will export the data from a database table with this structure:
ID: integer, primary key, autoincrement
AlbumName: text(255)
ImagePath: text(255)
ImageDescription: text(2000)
UploadDate: datetime
The output of the manual scripts will look like:

<images>

<album> Family </album>
/family/us.jpg

here goes the description

<date> 2006-11-20 10:20:00 </date>

<album> Work </album>
/work/coleagues.jpg

here goes the description

<date> 2006-11-21 12:34:00 </date>

</images>
These are all wrapped in CDATA because it is will work with all data types. They can be removed if you know you don't want them.
Note: If using the column auto-generating versions, ensure that all the column types are text. Some databases have data type options like 'binary', that can't be converted to text. This will cause the script to fail.

OK, I understand - thanks for that.
I thought the whole process was supposed to be a bit more seemless? Having to upload/download documents and manually keep them in sync will leave a lot of room for errors.
It's kinda painful the way iOS doesn't have folders. It makes things incompatible with the Mac and means you can't group files from multiple apps into a single project - who organises their digital life by the apps they use?
I think I'll recommend they use their iPad only.
Thanks for that.
Cheers
Ben
