Additional question regarding validating numeric fields

This is part of the code i obtained in order to check validation.
//var reg = /^\d+$/; // checks whether input contains ONLY digits
var reg = /\d+/; // checks whether input contains digits AND letters
However, i found that both options checks only wether input contains letters.
What is the function that checks if input contains only digits ?

Hi,
This is an example of where FormCalc has an advantage over JavaScript. There are built in functions in FormCalc for getting the maximum and minimum values.
In the total mileage, you could set up two variables, one for Max and one for Min and then subtract them.
var maxMiles = Max(mileage[*])
var minMiles = Min(mileage[*])
$ = maxMiles - minMiles
This is based on the script being in the calculate event of the total field. Also it depends on how you have set up the table. If the rows have the same name: eg Row1[0], Row1[1], Row1[2],... Row1[30] and the mileage field is named the same in each row, then the script may look like:
var maxMiles = Max(Row1[*].mileage[*])
Hope that helps,
Niall

  • New to the product - question about validating multiple fields as a group

    I have a static form that I'm building from a word document.  Part of that form requires a person to fill any 3 out 5 text fields.
    Since it looks like scripts are applied on a field by field basis, is it possible to have a script that encompasses multiple fields?
    Would any script need to be applied to each field in turn?
    Assuming the answer to question 1 is a yes, how would you script it to require x number of fields out of a total of y to have some sort of content in order to validate?
    I'm pretty familiar with JavaScript and am looking at the Scripting reference guides but was hoping for a helping hand to get me there quicker as I'm in a bit of a time crunch - doing 18 forms with validation and database connectivity by January 15 certainly qualifies in my book.
    I would assume you'd do something like this but am unsure of the syntax...
    Get values of each field
    Set a valid counter variable for the number of fields with content
    If field 1 is not empty, increment the valid counter
    (rinse and repeat)
    if the valid counter is less than 3 throw an error message
    Many thanks in advance for any help offiered

    1). Yes, scripting within Livecycle can be for a single field or even static text, images and other artifacts within the PDF. Really anything, within Adobe's reason, when it comes to scripting.
    2). It depends on what you want to do. Things like field validations, calculations and other instances where fields are tied togther really dictate how the script runs.
    3). Fields that have calculations or validations with them work in the same, I believe. So for example I have a PDF that I made that is an Excel-type sheet that contains a few hundred cells and every single one has some type of validation or calculation associated with it. I generally run the calculations/validations from the user inputting the data and then after that the script runs, but again, it really dpeneds on what you are doing and with what, so answering some of your questions are a bit difficult.
    Javascrip/Formcalc are wonderful tools within PDF, but don't forget the Action Builder (Tools -Action Builder). It is a set of preloaded actions that are turn-key. Just select the cells that will have the action and select the result you want from the preloaded list of actions, using those actions can get you very far, and most of all; they are quick to implement without researching code. So for example, you could use the Action Builder to create an action that checks certain fields and if they are null to return a 1 value to a specific numericField (these could be hidden). Then have a "total" numericField (this would be your counter) that adds all of those fields with the 1 in it. Then create another Action Builder for that "total" numericField and if it is less than 3, display a message box that is a warning.

  • Question regarding adding new field to an infoset.

    Hi all!
    Actually i am not a programmer but HR functional, but i need to add an additional field to my infoset.
    I wanted to do it myself without ABAPers help.
    I have already added new field to an infoset and included a code:
    TABLES HRP1000.
    SELECT SINGLE short INTO ORG_UNIT_SHORT
           FROM hrp1000 WHERE objid = p0001-orgeh.
    And it almost works. The thing is, when on the report (sap query) a person have value '00000000' in the p0001-orgeh the report enters value into ORG_UNIT_SHORT from the previous record (of another employee).
    How to avoid this? i suppose i have to assign this field an initial value at the begining of the code (how?).. or?? as i said i just try to make first steps in abap programming...

    Ok, i have found a solution (clear statement)

    Hi,
    Iam new to java.
    I have one JSP form.
    my question is :
    How do i validate that user has entered all numeric values in a particular column.?
    And if he has not entered the numeric data, do i have to throw NUMBERFORMATEXCEPTION.
    Please help !
    Thanks

    Hi
    If you have a JSP form , you can post the form to a servlet and verify the format of the column.
    If you prefer, you can use javascript to validate the clumn on client broser, so he can't post the form if it's not correct

  • Question regarding remapping of fields in Crystal reports 2008

    I have a report that uses 2 BW queries as data source.
    I created a query that may replace the 2 queries
    What specific steps should I follow so that the window for mapping of fields will appear once I changed the data source?
    thanks,
    Donna

    Ideally if there is a change in the query then the window for mapping of fields should appear.The change in query could be of any sort like:
    1.Change in the field type structure at the database end
    2.Chage in the name of a field/table at the database end etc
    However, if you are doubtful and want to avoid doing this directly on the existing report,you may always do it on a new report(just for testing purpose) and then do a 'Set datasource location' to point to the modified query.

  • Questions regarding Optimizing formulas in IP

    Dear all,
    This weekend I had a look at the webinar on Tips and Tricks for Implementing and Optimizing Formulas in IP.
    I’m currently working on an IP-implementation and encounter the following when getting more in-depth.
    I’d appreciate very much if you could comment on the questions below.
    <b>1.)</b> I have a question regarding optimization 3 (slide 43) about Conditions:
    ‘If the condition is equal to the filter restriction, then the condition can be removed’.
    I agree fully on this, but have a question on using the Planning Function (PF) in combination with a query as DataProvider.
    In my query I have a filter in the Characteristic restriction.
    It contains variables on fiscal year, version. These only allow single value entry.
    The DataProvider acts as filter for my PF. So I’d suppose I don’t need a condition for my PF since it is narrowed down on fiscal year and version by my query.
    <b>a.) Question: Is that correct?</b>
    I just one to make sure that I don’t get to many records for my PF as input. <u>How detrimental for performance is it to use conditions anyway?</u>
    <b>2.)</b> I read in training BW370 (IP-training) that a PF is executed for the currently set filter (navigational state) in the query and that characteristics that are used in restricted keyfigures are ignored in the filter.
    So, if I use version in the restr. keyfig it will be ignored.
    <b>Questions:
    a.) Does this mean that the PF is executed for all versions in the system or for the versions that are in the filter of the Characteristic Restrictions and not the currently set filter?</b>
    <b>b.) I’d suppose the dataset for the PF can never be bigger than the initial dataset that is selected by the query, right?
    c.) Is the PF executed anaway against navigational state when I use filtering? If have an example where I filter on field customer thus making my dataset smaller, but executing the PF still takes the same amount of time.
    d.) And I also encounter that the PF is executed twice. A popup comes up showing messages regarding the execution. After pressing OK, it seems the PF runs again...</b>
    <b>3.)</b> If I use variables in my Planning Function I don’t want to fill in the parameter VAR_VALUE with a value. I want to use the variable which is ready for input from the selection screen of the query.
    So when I run the PF it should use the BI-variable. It’s no problem to customize this in the Modeler. But when I go into the frontend the field VAR_VALUE stays empty and needs a value.
    <b>Question:
    a.) What do I enter here? For parameter VAR_NAME I use the variable name, but what do I use for parameter VAR_VALUE?  Also the variable name?</b>
    <b>4.)</b> Question regarding optimization 6 (slide 48) about Formulas on MultiProviders:
    'If the formula is using data of only one InfoProvider but is defined on a MultiProvider, the the complete formual should be moved to the single base InfoProvider'.
    In our case we have three cubes in the MP, two realtime and one normal one. Right now we have one AggrLevel (AL) on op of the MP.
    For one formula I can use one cube so it's better to cretae another AL with the formula based on that cube.
    For another formula I need the two <u>realtime</u> cubes. This is interesting regarding the optimization statement.
    <b>Question:
    a.) Can I use the AL on the MP then or is it better to create a <u>new</u> MP with only these two cubes and create an AL on top of that. And than create the formula on the AL based on the MP with the two cubes?</b>
    This makes the architecture more complex.
    Thanks a lot in advance for your appreciated answers!
    Kind regards, Harjan
    <b></b><b></b>

    Marc,
    Some additional questions regarding locking.
    I encounter that the dataset that is locked depends on the restrictions made in the 'Characteristic Restrictions'-part of the query.
    Restrictions in the 'Default Values'-part are not taken into account. In that case all data records of the characteristic are locked.
    Q1: Is that correct?
    To give an example: Assume you restrict customer on hierarchy node in Default Values. If you want people to plan concurrently this is not possible since all customers are locked then. When customer restriction is moved to Char Restr the system only locks the specific cutomer hier node and people can plan concurrently.
    Q2: What about variables use in restricted keyfigures like variable for fy/period? Is only this fy/period locked then?
    Q3: We'd like to lock on a navigational attribute. The nav attr is put as a variable in the filter of the Characteristic Restrictions. Does the system then only lock this selection for the nav.attr? Or do I have to change my locking settings in RSPLSE?
    Then question regarding locking of data for functions:
    Assume you use the BEx Analyzer and use the query as data_provider_filter for your planning function. You use restricted keyfigures with char Version. First column contains amount for version 1 and second column contains amount for version 2.
    In the Char Restrictions you've restricted version to values '1' and '2'.
    When executing the inputready query version 1 and 2 are locked. (due to the selection in Char Restr)
    But when executing the planning function all versions are locked (*)
    Q4: True?
    Kind regards, Harjan

  • Regarding validation

    Dear All,
    I have a question regarding validation (tcode OB28).
    While postinf a document I got to know that a validation rule is set on document type KX and KE that "Posting Date lower than Last Posted Document is not allowed".
    I check in tcode OB28 about that validation rule. I could see the check and message field but prerequisite field was empty.
    I couldn't find any where mentioned about document type KX and KE. Is it possible to keep prerequisite field empty, then how to set validation on specific document type.
    Please help me in this case.
    Thanks,
    Nidhi

    Hi,
    Make sure that in pre-requisites there is no user-exit mentioned, because the logic could be there. If it's empty, it basically says that there are no pre-requisites and the check will be performed in all cases. If you want to set it up for specific document types, you can set them as pre-requisites (obviously, it won't be empty anymore).

  • Questions regarding new functionalities in EhP 4 - Reporting Financials 2

    Dear Forum,
    in a project we would like to use some new functionalities from Reporting Financials 2 - ie. Datasource 0FI_AA_20 for Depreciation and Amortization loading to BI for following years as this can not be done by old extractor.
    We are know looking for reliable information about impact and changes that are made in ERP if we switch on the functionality Reporting Financials 2 via SFW5? Will old extracors work nevertheless? Will all reports in ERP work without problems? Is there any impact on business processes? Or is this just additional functionality which will not affect current implementation?
    Can anybody give information about this?
    Thanks, regards

  • Script for validating Text fields or numeric fields

    I'm looking for a simple script that will check the entered data in a specific field.If i enter numbers in the name/last name field i should get a pop up message that entering numbers in this field are not allowed.
    (And vice versa regarding numeric fields).
    What is the script for that ?

    Hi,
    try this:
    //var reg = /^\d+$/;    // checks whether input contains ONLY digits
    var reg = /\d+/;    // checks whether input contains digits AND letters
    var check = reg.exec(xfa.resolveNode("#subform[0].#field[0]").rawValue);
    if (check == null)
        app.alert("Everything's fine!");
    else
        app.alert("Entering digits is not allowed!");
    You may want to replace
    #subform[0] with the name of the subform the field to check is located in and
    #field[0] with the name of the field to check for digits.
    Also, you may want to select any of the regular expressions, which fits best your needs. See comment in the above code-fragement for further information.

  • Using LOV with Validation on the Numeric Fields results in Error

    Dear JHeadstart Team,
    During my work with lov I encountered another problem. I defined a lov and attached the lov to a numeric field and check the LOV for validation. Now when I use LOV using the LOV button it works fine but when I enter some numbers and then press tab the LOV was not shown correctly and resulted in the following errors and the worst thing is that you can not navigate to any other pages and all try to navigate to other pages results in errors too. When we put the same LOV on a string field (which is not desirable for us) it worked fine.
    It seems to me like a bug. Am I right? Is ther any solution or workaround for this problem?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Navid,
    We ran into the same bug and have the next workaround for it:
    We extended the JHeadstart class 'LovItemBean' and we have overridden the method 'validateWithLov(...)' with:
      public void validateWithLov(ValueChangeEvent valueChangeEvent)
        Object newValue = valueChangeEvent.getNewValue();
        if(newValue != null && !(newValue instanceof String))
          newValue = newValue.toString();
          ValueChangeEvent newEvent = new ValueChangeEvent(valueChangeEvent.getComponent(), valueChangeEvent.getOldValue(), newValue);
          newEvent.setPhaseId(valueChangeEvent.getPhaseId());
          super.validateWithLov(newEvent);
        else
          super.validateWithLov(valueChangeEvent);
      }Next step is to use a custom template in your JHeaedstart Application Structure file for 'LOV_ITEM_BEAN'. In this custom template you should use your own class as 'managed-bean-class' instead of the default JHeadstart one.
    Now you can safely generate LOV with validation of number fields.
    Maybe something the JHeadstart can pcik up in the next release of JHeadstart :-)
    Hope this helps.

  • Adobe changes my numeric field to include commas when validation fails

    Adobe changes my numeric field to include commas when validation fails. My numeric validation setting is num{zzzzzzz9.99}. I want my numeric field to display as 99999999.00, no commas and only to have 2 decimals places. I added this validation to the Display, Edit, Validation and Data tabs under the validation pattern dialog box.
    When validation fails, adobe changes the display of the field to include commas and drops the decimal places:
    999,999,999
    How can I prevent this from happening? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
    I've also added a change event to the field as well:
    \\only allows numbers and period.
    if (xfa.event.newText.match(/[^0-9.]/))
    xfa.event.change = "";
    \\only allows 11 characters to be entered.
    var maxLength = 11;
    if(xfa.event.newText.length >maxLength)xfa.event.change = "";

    I want it to display only numbers followed by 2 decimal places.
    999999999.00
    If I type all numbers in my field like 999999999999 and I go over the character limit of 11. My validation fails and then my numeric field is displayed with commas, 999,999,999 without the 2 decimal places. Is there a way to prevent adobe from automatically changing my fields?

  • Numeric field validation in Report Field

    How we can have the validation check for numeric field in report ?
    please help me on this

    Hi,
    Try creating a function that returns either 0 or 1 depending on whether or not the value is numeric and then handle the result accordingly.
    Something like:
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION IS_NUMBER(p_string IN VARCHAR2) RETURN NUMBER
    AS
    vNUMBER NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    SELECT TO_NUMBER(p_string) INTO vNUMBER FROM DUAL;
    RETURN 1;
    EXCEPTION WHEN OTHERS THEN
    RETURN 0;
    END;Then create a PL/SQL process that loops through your data. Something like:
    BEGIN
    FOR x IN 1..APEX_APPLICATION.G_F01.COUNT
    LOOP
      IF IS_NUMBER(APEX_APPLICATION.G_F01(x)) = 0 THEN
       ... do something if the value is not numeric ...
      END IF;
    END LOOP;
    END;Andy

  • Problem in Numeric Field

    I have set a numeric field with following things:
    Object > field > patterns > display > $1234.21
    It works well but when I set expand fit width, it expands but not show "$" and " .00". It just show like 12340000000000.
    Or sometimes It shows black + sign right bottom corner though it shows correct format. Where have I made a mistake?
    In addition, I have set float type data format.

    Hi, sorry I misunderstood your question.
    1. remove the edit pattern
    2. Add this script in the enter:Event
         this.rawValue = null;
    3. Add this script in the exit:Event
    if (this.rawValue === null)
         this.rawValue = 0;

  • How to validate a Numeric Field in an Interactive form

    Hi,
    In my Interactive form i had placed certain Numeric Fields (Price Information). The user may change the pricing info. My requirement is, the user enters any numeric data the form should show an alert message and revert back the pricing information to the existing one.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    Ranjan

    Hello Kavita,
    patterns are not processed during editing. If you can't use the default behavior of the numeric field when a character is entered (handled when the user finished editing), you could use scripting to process input. Depending on what you want to do you could use the exit event or the change event.
    A change event has a property called "change" that caused the event. You could try "xfa.host.messageBox( upper(event.change) )" in FormCalc to show the characters in upper case.
    But, you should go this way only if the patterns for editing and for display and validation scripts can't be used in your case.
