ADF 10.1.3.4 - html tag in af:table column header
Hello,
How can I to put "<br/>" into af:table column header?
I tried to put "<br/>" in both the headerText property of the af:column and in the VO, but it always get encoded.
Thanks before.
Regards,
Rudi
Edited by: bungrudi on Nov 24, 2008 1:50 AM -- encoding the br tag in the post, because it get rendered as is :)
Hi,
you can't mix and match HTML markup with JSF elements. This is only possible if the JSF component explicitly supports this (like af:formattedOutput).

How to Merge ADF Table Column Header in ADF Table ?
Hi All,
We need to have ADF Table Column header to be "Merged",
e.g :
There are two columns Header : | Qty (Case) | Qty (Pack) |,
can we customize it to display like this :
| ----- Qty -------|
| Case | Pack |
where there are two rows in column header, the first one is "Merged".
How can we do that ?
Thank you very much,
xtantoHi Kelly,
Thank you for your reply,
Using Column Faced, Header I can format the header of one column Only.
My requirement is to Merge header of two colums :
| ----- Qty -------|
| Case | Pack |
'Case' &'Pack' is two different column, so I need to add one row on the header of the two colums, then 'merge' them, and add the word '----Qty----'.
Is it possible ?
Thank you,
xtanto -

In OAF restrict the richtext editor using html tags
Hi Gurus,
In my page Insert/Update I have requirement of Adding Comment. I have used MessageRichText for this Comment section. The data type of the corresponding Table column is CLOB.
But while saving the entered comment, data is getting saved with HTML tags. .... :
I have another search page that cannot have MessageRichText filed; only MessageStyledText field could be used to show the Saved Comment.
As the data has been stored with HTML tags in DB Table, in the Search Page it showing the Last Inserted Comment with HTML tag.
I want to show the actual Comment entered without HTML tag.........how to do this??????
Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1Hello cornelius.
For one, you need to select RTF for message composition and not Plain Text.
Select/highlight the text you want for the hyperlink and at the menu bar, go to Edit and select Add Hyperlink.
Enter the URL in the space provided and be sure to include http://
Select OK when finished. -
Html tags removed when #COLUMN_HEADER# is used in column template
Hi all,
I'm using APEX 4.0.2, theme 2 Builder Blue.
I am trying to add html tags to dynamically generated column headings of a dynamic SQL Report.
When using a standard report template, the headings contain the html tags. However when I want to use one of the vertical lay-outs all html tags are removed. After some research I found out that when the substitution string #COLUMN_HEADER# is used within the column headings part of the template, the html tags are being preserved. They are removed however when the #COLUMN_HEADER# substitution string is used in the column templates part of the template.
This is easily testable by using for instance "return htf.bold ('COL01')" as dynamic column header.
Is this a bug or am I overlooking something? Is there another solution maybe to preserve html tags in the column heading?
Cheers, Erikwebdynpro appears to use XHTML instead of HTML so the syntax is a bit more limitted and more picky.
this link explains the difference between the two syntaxes:
http://reference.sitepoint.com/html/html-xhtml-syntax
you can test your tags in this validator tool
http://validator.w3.org
solved? have a good week, and holidays. -
Hello All,
Since my replies were deleted for some unknown reason from the feature requests thread,
I Thought that i might be missing something and Maybe someone can shed some light on this issue for me...
We're using Sql Server 2008 to store our data, in some tables we're using varchar(max) as data type and we store huge HTMLs inside them.
unfortunately, crystal reports support text length only up to 65534, which give's us a big headache because we have to use our own workaround to cut these huge HTMLs in 65k chunks and yet make them look as if they were in one piece.
What we can't work around, is the lack of support in basic HTML Tags, such as <TABLE>.
every text that was originaly authored inside a table tag, will be stripped down from the table to a messed text...
Does anyone have a solution/workaround for this issue? we desperately need the ability to display this HTML element in the report, but for now we're unable to.
Please help, Thank you.hey Muskito,
there is another method that you can try. there is an option to activate Pass Through HTML which will then allow fields and formulae containing html to show up as html. the activation of Pass Through HTML is a supported feature of businessobjects enterprise since version xi.
before you waste too much time on this, here are the limitations:
1) you cannot export the html as html...i.e. if you export a report with pass through html the html will show up as text instead of html
2) you cannot use the crystal reports viewer print option...sometimes the browser print functionality will suffice
3) paging can be an issue as the cr print engine doesn't know the sizing of the html being printed
to see how to activate pass through html, go to the webelements page [here |Crystal Reports webElements]and download the files...in the User Guide there are instructions on how to activate pass through html on your system.
cheers,

Hi,
Reports6i patch10
Scenario is: I have a column (database colummn text with embedded HTML ) where I set property 'Contains HTML tags'
I get the column incl html rendered find where desformat=html&destype=file&desname=myfile.html '
but when setting
destype=printer&desformat=html&desname=myqueue and sending output straight to printerqueue the html is not being rendered in fact the column is not rendered at all
HAs anyone similar experience ? solutions ?
TIA
PerHello Per Elmgreen,
When DESTYPE is specified as PRINTER, Reports formats output in PS or PCL format (depending on the printer language understood by the destination printer). Since these formats do not understand HTML tags, any such markup in the output will remain unformatted.
In order to get properly formatted output using HTML tags, you could generate the report to a HTML file (with the 'Contains HTML tags' property set) and then print the file using a browser.
Thanks,
The Oracle Reports Team. -
Where is ADF FACES HTML tags in JDeveloper 11g?
I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.2.0 for my project. I remembered in 10g I have a list of HTML tags such as, afh:tableLayout, afh:cellFormat, etc under ADF FACES HTML package. However, in new JDeveloper 11g, I could only see ADF Cores and there is no ADF Faces HTML tags. Are they still available in 11g? If so, how I could install those tags in JDeveloper 11g?
Thanks for your quick response. Actually I am converting a Trinidad project into ADF 11g. In old one, I used a lot of tableLayout components. It seems impossible for me to convert all those tableLayout into ADF 11g layout components in a short period of time.

Hi,
we are developing a mapping application based on Google Maps API using Java Studio Creator.
In order to make it work with Internet Explorer, we need to add a namespace (vml) to the html tag.
i.e., in the resulting html page, I would like to obtain
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:v="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml">
instead of the standard result of the <ui:html> tag
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
I looked at the JavaDoc of
com.sun.rave.web.ui.component.Html
but it didn't helped, since only language and xmlns can be set, not additional attributes.
Anybody can help?
Thanks

Those are taglib URI's of the default Sun JSF Reference Implementation which you can download here: http://javaserverfaces.dev.java.net
"http://www.sun.com/web/ui"
Those are taglib URI's of another JSF implementation/library which ships by default with Netbeans/Studio Creator. Consult its documentation/help pages for more information.
So there are also more JSF implemetations/component libraries with another taglib URI's, e.g. Oracle ADF Faces, IBM Faces Client Framework, Apache MyFaces, Apache Tomahawk, IceFaces, RichFaces, etcetera. -

My requirement is to extract a <tag>data</tag> from a HTML/XML string

And that is a critical distinction to make. HTML parsing is horribly complex. XML is quite easy. For HTML you have to code your own parser in PL/SQL. XML can be parsed using the XMLTYPE class/data type in PL/SQL.
So if you need to find a single specific tag in HTML - I would not try to treat it as XML. I may not even try to use regular expressions.
I would do a basic substring search for the start of the tag. Read the data following the tag. Ensure that there are no nested or embedded tags in the data. Until the end tag is read. Because HTML is that much abused - and because that is an accepted norm as parsers used by browsers deals with that abuse without complaining.
Proper HTML is mostly a myth in my experience of "screen scraping" web servers for data extraction as they do not have web services supplying the data. -
Values having html tags not getting populated while using AJAX in APEX
Hi,
I am using AJAX to populate certain values in a tabular report.
I have a java script of this form (I have taken this example from Denes's example http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:241:1400877312570049)
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
function f_set_multi_items_tabular(pValue, pRow){
var get = new htmldb_Get(null,html_GetElement('pFlowId').value,
'APPLICATION_PROCESS=Set_Multi_Items_Tabular',0);
if(pValue){
get.add('TEMPORARY_APPLICATION_ITEM',pValue)
get.add('T_ROWNUM',pRow)
}else{
get.add('TEMPORARY_APPLICATION_ITEM','null')
gReturn = get.get('XML');
if(gReturn){
var l_Count = gReturn.getElementsByTagName("item").length;
for(var i = 0;i<l_Count;i++){
var l_Opt_Xml = gReturn.getElementsByTagName("item");
var l_ID = l_Opt_Xml.getAttribute('id');
var l_El = html_GetElement(l_ID);
if(l_Opt_Xml.firstChild){
var l_Value = l_Opt_Xml.firstChild.nodeValue;
}else{
var l_Value = '';
if(l_El){
if(l_El.tagName == 'INPUT'){
l_El.value = l_Value;
}else if(l_El.tagName == 'SPAN' && l_El.className == 'grabber'){
l_El.parentNode.innerHTML = l_Value;
l_El.parentNode.id = l_ID;
}else{
l_El.innerHTML = l_Value;
get = null;
</script>
And I have the application process as follows
BEGIN
OWA_UTIL.mime_header ('text/xml', FALSE);
HTP.p ('Cache-Control: no-cache');
HTP.p ('Pragma: no-cache');
OWA_UTIL.http_header_close;
HTP.prn ('<body>');
HTP.prn ('<desc>this xml genericly sets multiple items</desc>');
HTP.prn ('<item id="f05_000' || :T_ROWNUM || '">' || :TEMPORARY_APPLICATION_ITEM || '</item>');
HTP.prn ('</body>');
END;
If I have :TEMPORARY_APPLICATION_ITEM as 'Vikas' it gets displayed properly but if I have '<b>Vikas<b>' it shows null. if it has any HTML tags function l_Opt_Xml.firstChild.nodeValue is not working properly .Please tell me what modiifcation can I use in function l_Opt_Xml.firstChild.nodeValue to get Values with HTML tags also to get displayed.
Thanks,
VikasVikas,
Try escaping special characters: htf.escape_sc(:TEMPORARY_APPLICATION_ITEM)Regards,

I am creating a report in APEX. I am using the HTML TAG <br> in my headings on the report. The headings on the report look great. When I do the PDF the headings do not look great. The PDF does not seem to like the html <br> tag. Any idea's?
Hi Earl,
I actually have strong, bold, italic, html, new paragraph tags in the content of the text area.
When the pdf is displayed, it shows the tags as it is. I want the data to be formatted and displayed.
Thanks

Hello,
I would like to print a report as a PDF and use the BI Publisher.
This functions so far also quite well, only I have the problem
I pass a HTML formatted text from a field CLob
and with the PDF output the HTML tags are not moved.
In the PDF document the HTML tags stands instead of a formatted heading,
e.g.
<*h1> This is the heading <*/h1> (without stars)
What I must set / make with it I also a formatted one
Heading agrees?
Somebody an idea?

Edited by: user10460383 on 14.09.2009 06:17True - a PDF isn't going to support HTML encoding. HTML will just be seen as more text, and displayed that way.
You can strip out HTML tags fairly easily with a regular expression in your query SQL - this simply looks for text between < and > characters, and removes it. That should work for basic HTML formatting tags, but it isn't 100% (it won't handle <script> blocks correctly, for instance).
select regexp_replace(myHTML, '<[^>]*>', '') as myText
from myTable... Implementing a method to convert the HTML formatting into RTF formatting is also possible, but not a trivial task - you'd effectively have to replace each HTML tag with an RTF equivalent -- eg, replace <H1> with the RTF code to make a larger font, replace </H1> with RTF code to return the font to normal... etc...
