Is there any way to stretch a dvt Graph.
I have a panel splitter with a graph in the second panel and would like it to
the graph to stretch.

How can I cache dvt graph results?

Hello colleagues, I need some help regarding dvt graphs performance.
In our application we have big amount of data which the user can filter by adding grouping options, time ranges, etc. For the graph to be updated (the query to be re-executed), the user has to press a "Refresh" button each time he changes the query parameters.
Once the new results are displayed in the graph, the user can change the graph type by pressing either a pie, bar, line or table buttons. As a consequence of this, the query is re-executed and returns the same previous results. This obviously drops the performance of the application.
So, how we can manage to refresh the type of graph (for example from pie to bar) without re-executing the query. Note that the "Refresh" button should always re-execute the query even if the parameters were not changed.
I'll appreciate your help.

And by the way how are you switching the graph type? Are you using an af:graph tag and switching just the type? Or are you rendering a complete new graph on your page?

I don't understand why not cursor to enter the "processTimeSelector" function,
even though I have breakpointed into first line of this function.

Check to see that your little one did not by accident get something (anything) in the headphone jack. If there is debris in there (and it doesn't take much) it will make your device think a set of headphones is jacked in and you won't be able to hear through speakerphone or handset.

You need a support contract, open a SR, ask for the source and then sign some agreements on how to use the source code.

1. Drop af:exportCollectionActionListener on a command button
2. set the command button to display = false
3. In your Java code, call
ActionEvent ae = new ActionEvent(button);
ae.queue();
Everything you put before
ActionEvent ae = new ActionEvent(button);
ae.queue();
will fires as a pre-trigger, everything after as a post trigger

Error executing ViewObject in ADF 11g application

I've just deployed my ADF 11g (11.1.1.2.0) application to a standalone WebLogic 10.3 server. The app contains a single page with a dvt graph and it is configured to use a JDBC data source. I've created the data source via the WebLogic console and chosen the standard Oracle XA Thin driver.
Most of the time the app works perfectly well, however very occasionally the graph fails to load and an error dialog is given instead showing a NullPointerException. The full stack trace is as follows:

I've tried some basic Googling for possible solutions but can't find any other instances of this NullPointerException from the driver. Since I don't have the driver source, I can't debug this. Can anyone within Oracle shed some light on why the driver is throwing this error?

Bumping a 2-year-old thread isn't likely to get you any solution. Best course for you is to post a new thread with all of your details (which will be different, unless you are using the very old 11.1.1.2 version - in which case you will be told to try a later release).

DVT: Graph - Issues with Automatic Sizing Inside PanelDashboard

Hello. To start off, here is the background information:
JDeveloper Version: Studio Edition Version 11.1.2.2.0, Build JDEVADF_11.1.2.2.0_GENERIC_120418.2212.6183.1
WebLogic Version: JDeveloper built-in version

We have developed a DashboardAPI for internal use at my company that is largely based off of the example provided on the ADF Demo page:

We have also implemented the minimize and maximize functionality as it exists in the demo. However, in all of your dashboard panel boxes, we have a dvt:Graph component as the direct child. The inline style for all dvt:graphs is "width:100%; height:100%;". The actual flash component for the dvt:graph appears to be completely stretched when the page is first rendered. You can tell this by right clicking on the graph component and selected the Flash settings; by doing this, the entire flash component becomes "grayed out". This is where you can see this. Now if you minimize the graph to the dock bar, then restore it, the panel box comes back, but the dvt:Graph "rerenders", and stretches even further to completely fill out the entire panel box. I'm trying to figure out why it would behave like this. The only difference I see is that while restoring the panel boxes from the "dock", the code performs a prepareOptimizedEncodingOfInsertedChild(), instead of when the dashboard is initially created upon first load by creating the graph components programatically and adding them directly to dashboard.getChildren().

Hi Shanmukh,
If you wrap your table in a component that stretches its children, your table will be adjusted to fill aviable space.
Try to surround the table with an <af:panelcollection/> or an <af:panelsplitter/> or an <panelStretchLayout/>.
This should work.

Bug in dvt:graph tag? Cannot set graphType attribute using EL expression

Dear all,
First thing sorry if this is not the correct forum, but I have a problem that is driving me crazy with ADF DVT tags in JDeveloper environment.
I'm working with DVT tags to display some graphs in my application. I need to decide at runtime the type of graph I'm going to render in my page, because the type of graph is stored in a database. Also, I use tabular data instead of Data controls, because I have to reuse POJO objects from an existing model tier.
I have seen that you can bind the graphType attribute of <dvt:graph to a backing bean property, as explained in : http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/11/how-tos/dvt_how_tos/adf_dvt_graph_howto.html. You can even change the type dynamically responding to user actions, ie : you can change for example from BARS to AREAS or whathever. So far so good, the problem is that I have tried the simplest example possible and it seems that I cannot bind the graphType attribute to a backing bean property using an EL expression.
In my example, the backing bean has a type property with fixed value AREA_VERT_ABS, but it renders as a BAR_VERT_CUST, that is to say, it completely ignores the binding for the graphType attribute, but the binding for the tabularData attribute works properly because it renders the dummy data provided. I have tried with other types of graphic and it always renders as BAR_VERT_CUST.
I'm working with JSF 1.2 + Facelets + JDeveloper 11.1.1.2.0 and the integrated weblogic server.

Actually the setter is not needed because the tag only reads, but it does not update the backing bean.

How to change series/groups of a DVT graph at runtime?

With my scenario, I would like to bind a graph with a dynamic query. "Dynamic" means the query constructed at runtime. So I want to detrmine the series and groups of a DVT graph at runtime. I.e., I want to do this with Java programatically.
I read some articles and tutorials but have not found a topic on this. I think this should be a common requirement. Anyone can tell me how to do this? Thanks.

Are you using ADF BC and data binding or regular JSF binding?
For the first one you can try and create a VO with columns a,b and then at runtime change the VO definition similar to how it is done here:

(but keeping the synonyms for the columns constant).
For case B - you just need to change the collection data that you pass to the graph.

Session Time out in ADF 11g

The session timeout is defined in web.xml. Just open web.xml of your app and in the overview page in the Application section you see 'Session Timeout'. Set it to a value you like and you are done.

Urgent help needed in achieving below ADF 11g flow

Hi, I am using JDEV 11.1.1.2.0 with ADF 11g.
I have a below requirement.
Say in below eg. I am getting col1, col2, col3 from a single tbl in screen 1. On clicking col1's row I should go to screen 2

Here in screen 2 I will have a calculated field as shown below. Besides this In the same screen I will have a list showing distinct of col2 for the value cliked in col1. So here in this eg. it will be for Nm1 I will have 2 values in the list Code1 and Code2.

Now here if user selects the radio of 'Code2' Then my above data should change as below

I do this by passing the col1 value as a param to a query VO.
I have tried this using different VOs like a VO with query, VO with user defined column... nothing helps.
I am just unable to reach to screen 2. I am either getting invalid column OR missing in out parameters.
Can any one help on how and what should be done? This is not even master-details stuff. master-details seems easier than this.
Urgent help is needed.

I have resolved your problem and build a sample application.
You have to create 2 views and use master detail.
First view will be a simple view for the page 1 and second view will be readonly using group by. Then create a view link between them.

Hi Harsha,
you can use <af:exportCollectionActionListener /> component to do that. Set the exportedId property to point to of the table. You have options to export all rows or only selected rows.
