ADF 11g | Drilldown functionality

Hi,
Can somebody tell me how to drill down to an edit page from a table using a link? I need the drill down to be done using a link and I require the link if the table has got particular data. if not, i want it to be displayed as a plain text. Also, please let me know the intricacies which are to be considered while creating a drill down functionality.
Thanks in advance
Praveen

Hi Frank,
Thanks for the quick support.
My requirement for the drill down functionality is as follows:
1. I have two view pages: one for displaying the table and other for editing a different table based on the selected column value from the first view page.
2. The key attribute for these two table views are same.
I have used setCurrentRowWithKey in the link(first view page) as the operation to link it with the view object of the page to be edited. Infact, i have also used the NDValue = "#{row.rowKeyStr}" as well. But an error is thrown as follows:
<Sep 6, 2010 10:48:52 AM IST> <Error> <HTTP> <BEA-101020> <[ServletContext@16122923[app:Dashboard_panels module:Dashboard_workflow path:/Dashboard_workflow spec-version:2.5 version:V2.0]] Servlet failed with Exception

I could not figure out what went wrong. If possible, could you please take me through the complete drill down functionality? It would be much appreciated if drilldown functionality is explained with reference to the context of "Nested Application Module".
Thanks

  • ADF 11g : Calling PL Sql Function

    Hi there..
    I am trying to call a PL/SQL Function from my application module in ADF 11g.
    The code looks something like this
        public void getName(int relationNumber) {
            DBTransaction tc = getDBTransaction();
            StringBuffer statement = new StringBuffer("begin ");
            statement.append("? := COMP_RLE.RLE_GET_NAME(?);");
            statement.append("end;");
            OracleCallableStatement cs = (OracleCallableStatement)tc.createCallableStatement(statement.toString(), 0);
            try {
                cs.registerOutParameter(1, Types.VARCHAR);
                cs.setInt(2, relationNumber);
                cs.execute();
                String retValue = cs.getString(1);
                System.out.println(retValue);
            } catch (SQLException e) {
                System.err.println("Something went wrong: " + e.getMessage());
        }When I run this in TOAD I get a result back in the form of a String.
    However when I run the code above in a Unit Test I get back "null".
    Does anybody know what I am doing wrong here?
    Hope someone can help me out here.
    Thanks in advance,
    Gideon

    I think it will probably work that way.. but the thing is.. I have been going over examples.. and they work with the CallableStatement.
    I just want to know how come this isn't working the way it should.
    Did I miss something?

  • ORA-01460 error only in production enviorment in ADF 11g application

    Hi ,
    We are using ADF 11g rel 1 11.1.1.4.0
    And database is
    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
    PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    "CORE 11.2.0.1.0 Production"
    TNS for Linux: Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    All our enviornments are running the same database
    But when we are deploying the application in Production we get the Error
    JBO-27122: SQL-fejl under forberedelse af sætning. Sætning:
    select DB_TST_API.test_proc(Id1, id2) from table;
    ## Detail 0 ##

    select DB_TST_API.test_proc(Id1, id2) from table;
    The DB function is defined as
    the FUNCTION test_proc(p_value IN VARCHAR2, p_list IN VARCHAR2) RETURN number;
    The input parameter is only 10 digit integer in ADF application, there is a logical difference that the DB function takes a string and ADF is supplying with Integer, but the code has worked before and has suddenly started giving this error
    The code also works fine on all other test eviornments
    Also the sql query when run from sql devleoper on production DB does not give any error
    Its becoming difficult to find out what could be causing this only on production enviornment

    In ANY case, I'd be using explicit conversions here, not implicit ones, so my recommendation would be one of these:
    a). Use TO_CHAR on the input
    b). Use Java to convert the integer to a string
    c). Change the functionto take a NUMBER as the parameter (if it really is a number)
    d). Write a wrapper for the function. The wrapper should take a number and convert it using TO_CHAR and call the real function

  • Alignment of the Popup (adf 11g)

    Hi,
    I am using adf 11g and one of the requirement is :
    Pop-up should start higher on the screens (should open up in the top). May i know how can i achieve this?
    <af:showPopupBehavior popupId="manualTaskPopup"
    align="afterStart"/>
    Pop-up is opening in the Center by default now.
    This is really urgent.
    Appreciate for your help.
    Thanks
    CM

    you can do this by using alignId in javascript
    <af:commandButton id="myButton">
    <af:clientListener type="click" method="showPopup"/>
    </af:commandButton>
    function showPopup() {
    var popup = AdfPage.PAGE.findComponent("thisPopup");
    var hints = {align:"before_end", alignId:"myButton"};
    popup.show(hints);
    from the doc
    There are nine predefined align enumerations represented by constants:
    1. AdfRichPopup.ALIGN_AFTER_START: The popup appears underneath the element with the popup's upper-left corner aligned with the lower-left corner of the element. The left edges of the element and the popup are aligned.
    2. AdfRichPopup.ALIGN_AFTER_END: The popup appears underneath the element with the popup's upper-right corner aligned with the lower-right corner of the element. The right edges of the element and the popup are aligned.
    3. AdfRichPopup.ALIGN_BEFORE_START: The popup appears above the element with the popup's lower-left corner aligned with the upper-left corner of the element. The left edges of the element and the popup are aligned.
    4. AdfRichPopup.ALIGN_BEFORE_END: The popup appears above the element with the popup's lower-right corner aligned with the upper-right corner of the element. The right edges of the element and the popup are aligned.
    5. AdfRichPopup.ALIGN_END_AFTER: The popup appears to the right of the element with the popup's lower-left corner aligned with the lower-right corner of the element. The bottom edges of the element and the popup are aligned.
    6. AdfRichPopup.ALIGN_END_BEFORE: The popup appears to the right of the element with the popup's upper-left corner aligned with the upper-right corner of the element. The top edges of the element and the popup are aligned.
    7. AdfRichPopup.ALIGN_START_AFTER: The popup appears to the left of the element with the popup's lower-right corner aligned with the lower-left corner of the element. The bottom edges of the element and the popup are aligned.
    8. AdfRichPopup.ALIGN_START_BEFORE: The popup appears to the left of the element with the popup's upper-right corner aligned with the upper-left corner of the element. The top edges of the element and the popup are aligned.
    9. AdfRichPopup.ALIGN_OVERLAP: The popup appears over top of the element with the upper-left corners aligned.

  • ADF 11g - persist users component state to database - af:panelCollection

    Hi all
    We have a case where we require the state of a component, an af:panelCollection in this instance, to be saved to the database for each user of the application. This data is then retrieved upon application startup when it will be used to set the initial state of the af:panelCollection.
    The logic to achieve the above is outlined in the following post:
    http://technology.amis.nl/blog/4595/adf-11g-persisted-run-time-user-ui-personalization-or-impatient-mans-mds
    We have used the above resource to implement the manipulation of the af:panelCollection accordingly but we now wish to persist this data to the database, it is currently hard coded.
    Any help is greatly appreciated
    Regards
    Tony

    Hi,
    the next release of JDeveloper 11g (planned for summer) provides MDS, which helps you with a repository based approach for end user personalization. I think that if you can wait then it makes sense to do so instead of implementing functionality on your own that sooner or later you find in the product.
    If you can't wait then all you can do is to setup listeners that detect changes (attribute listener work in many cases) and persist the information for the page, component ID and user

  • Adf 11g logging

    Hi
    How to use ADFLogger in ADF 11g?
    Thanks in advance

    It's up to you how you want to do it, but I think common practices are to create a logger per class or per functional grouping of classes. It's all down to your choice, but the more granular you create the loggers, the more control you can have in turning on or off pieces of logging.

  • ADF 11g:Success message on fire fox Staus bar

    Hi all,
    Im working on ADF 11g - Jdeveloper 11.1.1.2.
    The page contains a ADF table with Create, Edit and delete operations. The success messages of these operations have to be displayed on the staus bar of the Fire fox browser.
    Ex: "Record Successfully created" whenever there is a successful insertion of a record in the ADF table.
    How to display the user generated message on the staus bar of Fire fox? Please help....
    Thanks,
    Manasa.

    I'll bite. Presumably you're trying to mimic the same functionality from Forms. Firstly I'll flag that you need to convince users that browsers aren't Forms, and they do things in their own ways. A typical browser user doesn't look to the status bar for messages from an application, the status bar is reserved for browser raised messages.
    Yet I also understand it's hard to bend such requirements, so in addressing that requirement specifically, my understanding is the ADF framework doesn't provide this functionality out of the box. You will need to build your own. As a start independent of ADF there appears the ability in Javascript to write to the browser status bar through a function called statsword: http://www.htmlite.com/JS017.php
    At this stage I've no inspiration on how to build this in to an ADF solution (it's far too early in the morning), maybe another reader can help, but I suspect a solution might use the ADF af:serverListener and af:clientListener tags.

  • ADF 11g: Desktop Integrator- Export to Excel issue

    Hi,
    We are using ADF 11g.
    In our application we have one feature where end users can download data in excel format from our web application.
    To export data to excel file, users need to click Export to Excel button. But after deployment of code to standalone WLS 11g we are facing following issue with this functionality:
    To export data to excel file we have to keep pressing control key through out the operation
    If we don't do so it does not downloads the file.
    We want the file should be downloaded as soon as user clicks Export to Excel button. (We don't want users to keep pressing control key through this process)
    Please help on this how to achieve this.
    Thanks and Regards
    Manav Ratra

    Hi Shay,
    I implemented this functionality following Franks blog on export data to excel.
    Ya in your application we are able to export to excel without holding control Key.
    The same is happening in our case if we run application using integrated WLS 11g on JDev 11.1.1.3
    but after hosting the application on standalone WLS 11g. We need to hold control key. :|
    Are there any properties which we need to set to avoid this.
    here is code :
    *<af:commandButton text="Export to Excel"*
    *binding="#{backing_Rates.btn_Export}"*
    *id="btn_Export" inlineStyle="width:150.0px;"*
    *shortDesc="Click to Save table in excel sheet">*
    *<af:exportCollectionActionListener exportedId="pctbl:t1"*
    *type="excelHTML"*
    *filename="#{backing_Rates.seName}_Rates.xls"*
    *title="Rates for - #{backing_Rates.seName} are:"/>*
    *</af:commandButton>*

  • How to enable row selection conditionally  in ADF 11g Table

    Hi,
    i am using ADF 11g.
    My use cae is:
    we need to display a table component in which only those rows that have a particular value in one of its columns should be selectable, other rows should be viewable but not selectable.
    That is, to say only those rows should be displayed as selectable in which the user name column is having the value same as the logged in user, suppose. And all the other rows having user name other than logged in user should be viewable , but not selectable for the user.
    I know in ADF 10.1.3 it is possible to conditionally enabling selection of rows in af.table by using "selection"-facet. But with 11g there is no such table facet.
    Does anyone have some idea how to do it in 11g?
    Thanks

    Frank,
    thank for your suggestion.
    so i tried to use clientLister like this:
    selectMatCat = function(event) {
    var matCatTable = event.getSource();
    rwKeySet = event.getAddedSet();
    for (rowKey in rwKeySet) {
    firstRowKey = rowKey;
    break;
    var cellhandler = matCatTable.findComponent("matCatCode", firstRowKey);
    if (cellhandler != null) {
    alert (cellhandler.getValue());
    event.cancel();
    but the row in which cellhandler != null is still selected so that i can get its value on the sever side by using code like : "matCatTable.getSelectedRowData()".
    I also noticed that the selection event will not automatically notify the server so the event.cancel() seems like not make so much sense.
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks.

  • ADF 11g: Change Text Value within af:dialog

    Any guidance much appreciated: I'm new to ADF 11g and java scripting...
    I have a popup containing a dialog inside my af:document. I want to be able to dynamically change the text message being displayed inside the dialog at runtime prior to showing the popup. I have added an af:panelGroupLayout inside the dialog component, with an af:outputText component inside that.
    <af:popup id="nexusAlertPopup">
    <af:dialog id="nexusAlert"
    inlineStyle="vertical-align:top; text-align:left; font-size:small;"
    type="ok" closeIconVisible="false" title="Change Me"
    affirmativeTextAndAccessKey="Continue">
    <af:panelGroupLayout id="nexusAlertPanelGroup">
    <af:outputText id="nexusAlertText"/>
    </af:panelGroupLayout>
    </af:dialog>
    </af:popup>
    When I look at the ADF javascript API, I cannot find a set method to change the value of the outputText in my JS Function. Can you use a normal setAttribute method on any ADF object?
    Regards,
    Mario

    Branislav Nemec wrote:
    Is there a particular reason you need to change the title in JS function?Thanks for your reply Branislav.
    To make a short story long: I am trying to create a dynamic popup dialog on an ADF page template. We have Oracle Form Modules which are being clipped inside this center panel of the pages using this template and the communication between the ADF application and our Forms application happens through JS on the client. What I need to do is on the Forms side, override all forms alerts with a call to a JS Function which would popup a synchronous ADF dialog and return the result back to Forms in a Global variable. So the text of the alert needs to be dynamically passed through and this needs to preferably happen on the client side without a roundtrip to the ADF server. If it is possible. Also, it is not the TITLE I am concerned about as there is a setTitle() method in the AdfRichDialog class.
    Hope this sheds some light on the issue...

    Hi All,
    We have developed an application in ADF 11G and its working fine now , but we have a requirement to include session time out for our application.
    Can anyone suggest or give a link giving clear information regarding this.

    The session timeout is defined in web.xml. Just open web.xml of your app and in the overview page in the Application section you see 'Session Timeout'. Set it to a value you like and you are done.

  • Urgent help needed in achieving below ADF 11g flow

    Hi, I am using JDEV 11.1.1.2.0 with ADF 11g.
    I have a below requirement.
    Say in below eg. I am getting col1, col2, col3 from a single tbl in screen 1. On clicking col1's row I should go to screen 2
    Screen1
    Col1     Col2     Col3
    Nm1     Code1     10
    Nm1     Code1     30
    Nm2     Code1     30
    Nm1     Code2     20
    Here in screen 2 I will have a calculated field as shown below. Besides this In the same screen I will have a list showing distinct of col2 for the value cliked in col1. So here in this eg. it will be for Nm1 I will have 2 values in the list Code1 and Code2.
    Screen 2
    Col1     Nm1
    Col2     Code1
    Tot     *40*
    Col2     Select
    Code1     X
    Code2
    Now here if user selects the radio of 'Code2' Then my above data should change as below
    Col1     Nm1
    Col2     Code2
    Tot     *20*
    Col2     Select
    Code1
    Code2     X
    I do this by passing the col1 value as a param to a query VO.
    I have tried this using different VOs like a VO with query, VO with user defined column... nothing helps.
    I am just unable to reach to screen 2. I am either getting invalid column OR missing in out parameters.
    Can any one help on how and what should be done? This is not even master-details stuff. master-details seems easier than this.
    Urgent help is needed.
    Thanks in advance

    I have resolved your problem and build a sample application.
    You have to create 2 views and use master detail.
    First view will be a simple view for the page 1 and second view will be readonly using group by. Then create a view link between them.
    Let me know your email id. I will email you the sample application.

    Hi Harsha,
    you can use <af:exportCollectionActionListener /> component to do that. Set the exportedId property to point to of the table. You have options to export all rows or only selected rows.

    Assuming you are having problems because of the usage of JSF Session scope beans, then the answer is to use pageFlowScope for that set of data - then it is not shared between tabs.
