ADF application randomly refreshes using Active Event

we have a strange bug using the ActiveDataModel classes and events:
we have a landing page where we initiate the connection to the database and everything works fine on this front.
The problem occurs whern we change page; after about 5 seconds, we see the weblogic connection status turn red (which when hovering over with the mouse tells me it is 'Reconnecting' )and the page gets refreshed.
The connection status icon we are using is this:
+<af:statusIndicator id="pageLoadingIndicator"/>+
we get a new _afrLoop id also.
We are thinking the browser is refreshing because it loses the connection to the ActiveDataEvent but we are unsure how to 'gracefully' unregister it so we dont get random refreshes throughout the remaining application pages.
Is there a best practice method of doing this?
Regards
Jason

furthermore,
from our investigations, if we comment out the following line, we do not experience the refreshing issues:
context.addActiveModelInfo(this, keyPath, "activemessage");
of course, this stops the Active data service running to our main landing page

  • ADF application randomly refreshes the page and url gets new _afrLoop id.

    I have an ADF application on 11.1.1.6.0 environment. Randomly it refreshes itself on a random event. It is very hard to reproduce as it is not so frequent, however it is critical as users are continuously working on this revenue critical application. When the refresh occurs _afrLoop id changes in the url.
    It seems that when users press the link/button(most of them are partial submit) the browser session is trying to communicate with the server, but the server has lost the track of the session and gives new _afrLoop id causing it to reload the page.
    ADF logs does not show any indication this this issue. Did some research online and found following threads similar to it.
    Re: _afrLoop causing endless loop in my login.jspx in ADF Security
    However, in my case it just refreshes once and does not get into infinite loop. Also it does not happen on login but it is happening randomly when user is working on it.
    The application is deployed on the cluster, we have tried running just one node but the issue is still there.
    Our next steps is to remove the Trinidad filter as suggested by the above thread however it seems this could be risky as mentioned here(Remove trinidad filter from web.xml impact in adf
    Any help or pointer in the direction to solve this is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Dear All,
    I faced the same issue.
    1. Happens only in IE, when you navigate from one application (say A with web server as HTTP OHS) to another application (say B with web server as HTTPS apache). Both being webcenter applictaion
    2. If i hit the URL of application B web server directly this does not happen
    3. If I hit the weblogic managed server instead of the ws for application A and navigate to application B there is no _afrloop
    4. When i access application A and navigate to application B through the WS _afrloop goes infinite
    As solution I added the below parameters in my OHS http.conf file, and issue got resolved.
    Yet there is one more issue where the IDM cookies are getting cleared, this will help if you are not using IDM in the OHS web servers for authentication.
    Please provide inputs.
    Header unset Cookie
    Header unset Set-Cookie

  • ADF model : prevent refresh using invokeAction

    hi
    I'm trying to understand the Refresh and RefreshCondition properties of executables like methodIterator and invokeAction.
    These executables come from the app_SRListPageDef.xml pageDefinition for SRList.jspx in the "Oracle ADF SRDemo Application":
      <executables>
        <methodIterator id="findServiceRequestsIter"
                        Binds="findServiceRequests.result"
                        DataControl="SRPublicFacade" RangeSize="10"
                        BeanClass="oracle.srdemo.model.entities.ServiceRequest"/>
        <invokeAction Binds="findServiceRequests" id="tableRefresh"
                      Refresh="ifNeeded"
                      RefreshCondition="${(userState.refresh) and (!adfFacesContext.postback)}"/>
        <!-- ... -->
      </executables>The same pageDefinition also contains this methodAction binding :
        <methodAction id="findServiceRequests"
                      InstanceName="SRPublicFacade.dataProvider"
                      DataControl="SRPublicFacade"
                      MethodName="findServiceRequests" RequiresUpdateModel="true"
                      Action="999"
                      ReturnName="SRPublicFacade.methodResults.SRPublicFacade_dataProvider_findServiceRequests_result">
          <NamedData NDName="userIdParam" NDValue="#{userInfo.userId}"
                     NDType="java.lang.Integer"/>
          <NamedData NDName="statusParam" NDValue="#{userState.listMode}"
                     NDType="java.lang.String"/>
        </methodAction>I added this navigateToSRList.jspx page to that application:

              </af:commandButton>
            </h:form>
          </afh:body>
        </afh:html>
      </f:view>
    </jsp:root>This navigateToSRList.jspx page contains two buttons that will bring you to the SRList.jspx page. Both buttons explicitly set the userState properties refresh and listMode.
    If I click the first button, I get to see the Open requests. If I click the second button, I get to see the Pending requests.
    Because the tableRefresh invokeAction configures RefreshCondition="${(userState.refresh) and (!adfFacesContext.postback)}" and the buttons on my navigateToSRList.jspx explicitly set userState.refresh to false, I would expect this invokeAction NOT to be refreshed. (I checked the value -false- of userState.refresh using an expressionResolver.jspx page, see tip : resolve JSF expressions at runtime.)
    (*) questions
    - What causes the SRList.jspx page to show the expected data when using the buttons on navigateToSRList.jspx? I suspect it has something to do with the value of the statusParam NamedData in methodAction findServiceRequests that gets changed. The userState.listMode gets set by a af:setActionListener, this "changed methodAction parameter value" might trigger a refresh of the methodIterator. Can someone confirm this (from experience or with documentation)?
    - Is it possible to prevent "executables to be refreshed" if "methodAction parameters were changed"?
    many thanks
    Jan Vervecken

    Please see section "10.5.5 How to Use Refresh Correctly for InvokeAction and Iterator Bindings" of the ADF Developer's Guide for Forms/4GL Developers on the ADF Learning Center at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/adf/learnadf.html for more information on this.
    The information it contains is valid for Non-ADFBC data controls as well.

    How can i achieve this?
    what code should i include in my page?
    where should i include?
    if i need to include any code should i include in all my 7 pages?
    please give suggestions to get me out of this issue.

    Hi Frank,

  • Deploying ADF Application to OC4J Using Jdeveloper

    I tried to deploy an application to standalone OC4J using Jdeveloper, through a process similar to this:
    Deploying a Web Application
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe1013jdev/10131/deployment/deployment.htm
    [making WAR for view-controller, JAR for model, and EAR in a new project]
    First I got some errors relating to Apache Log4J jars (org/apache/log4j/Category). The problems are talked over in this forum and oc4j forum. I had to download apache-log4j-1.2.15.zip and add the jar file manually to the project and remove the checks in the WAR file descriptor.
    The application was deployed after some attempts successfully, but, now the first page that appears after launching the application is my Home.jspx which is not the same page which comes up when I use embedded OC4J to run the application. The Home.jspx is blank and when I enter a link manually:
    http://farbod:8888/TestApp/faces/pages/Employees.jspx
    instead of http://farbod:8888/TestApp/faces/pages/Home.jspx
    I receive this error:
    500 Internal Server Error
    Servlet error: An exception occurred. The current application deployment descriptors do not allow for including it in this response. Please consult the application log for details.
    Is there anything wrong with my deployment?
    (I just mentioned my initial problem with deployment to know if that gives a clue.
    I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3, OC4J 10.1.3.3)
    Thank you in advance.
    Farbod

    Hi,
    hard to say from the error message. What if you create a EAR file that includes the WAR file and then deploy it through Enterprise Manager in OC4J ? Also, having a separate deployment project bears the risk fo missing dependencies. Ensure that the project has the project's dependency property set to all contributing projects

  • Packaging ADF application using scripts

    How i can package a adf application in ear using ant / maven script?

    It's common requirement in this forum to post which version of JDev you're using.
    If you're using JDev 11g, look for the ojdeploy documentation on creating ADF Libraries.
    For general EAR/WAR construction consult publicly available Ant documentation.
    Unfortunately I can't comment on Maven, though I note a number of bloggers are currently working on it's integration with JDev 11g: http://biemond.blogspot.com/2010/05/deploy-to-weblogic-with-maven.html

    Well, I guess you have a problem here. Check http://multikoop.blogspot.de/2012/12/deploying-adf-applications-into-oracle.html and from this
    >
    Note: In its current stage Oracle Java Cloud Service runs WebLogic Server 10.3.6 with the appropriate Runtime ADF 11.1.1.6. Deployment of ADF 11gR2 Applications is currently not supported. Beside this limitation some ADF Features are not supported on the Oracle Cloud. According to the Oracle Cloud Documentation it is not supported to use the following ADF features
    ADF Desktop Integration
    ADF mBean
    ADF MDS (Seeded customizations or cross-session personalization)
    ADF Mobile
    ADF Active Data Services (=> No real-time ADF Web Apps in Oracles Cloud)
    ADF Business Components services interfaces (web services) or events
    ADF Data Controls for BI, Essbase, BAM, and JMX
    Further there are some restrictions which are good to know I think
    No Java Mail API (=>Sending Mails is prohibited)
    No File system access by deployed applications (=>Writing files is prohibited)
    No Direct use of Oracle JDBC Driver APIs
    No Java Message Service (JMS)
    Max Size for deployment archive 95MB

  • MDSIOException (MDS-00569) when starting updated ADF application

    Hello everybody
    I am not new to this forum but this is my first post here.
    Some context at first. I am developing a ADF application that is used as a inbox for requests. Requests are generated by scanning system and my application shows the requests ordered in inboxes per team or user. Every request has its own documents and history information.
    The application is structured into several components. Each componenent has its own application in JDev (its workspace) and is deployed as ADF libraries. A main application is used to reference all libraries and is deployed as EAR file to Weblogic.
    User customizations are enabled across sessions using MDS.
    I face the following problem. Everytime I changed a component and try to start the newly deployed application I get an exception from MDS (see the stack trace above). The shwon file name is the resource that has been updated in the ADF library. As far as I read in other forum posts, this error can occur randomly. But in my case it's not randomly, it's everytime I start my updated application. The solution is by now to restart Weblogic and redeploy the application. But this can not be the goal.
    I wonder if the problem is related to my project structure (multiple components with its own ADF libraries). The MDS configuration is only in the main application I use to deploy the application.
    Thank you very much for any information in advance.

  • Receive a parameter in the URL in adf application

    Hello,
    using the sendRedirect to direct control to another adf application, as:
    ((HttpServletResponse)FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getResponse()).sendRedirect("some url");assuming that I am pushing parameters to the url, how can I read them in called application !!
    to make the post clearer, assume that I have two adf applications A and B,
    A will redirect the user to B using the sendRedirect method,
    where shall I receive the request to get the parameters or attributes added to the URL !!!
    hopefully I have made the post clearer so that you can help !!
    appreciated, thanks in advance.
    rgrds,

    For passing parameters to another ADF application, we could use as a parameter as part of the request parameter of the URL as mentioned in
    http://blogs.oracle.com/shay/entry/passing_parameters_to_adf_appl
    For reading the parameters in the another application (assuming CurrentDepartmentName is the parameter) ,
    HttpServletRequest request =
    *(HttpServletRequest)FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequest();*
    String strvalue = request.getParameter("CurrentDepartmentName");
    Thanks,
    Navaneeth

  • Error while deploying adf application using ant script or jdevloper IDE

    Hi All,
    While deploying adf application into cluster weblogic server I am getting strange error though my weblogic server is working fine as I checked it from weblogic console. Seems that there is some heap memory issue but don’t know the exact cause as it work perfectly if I restart the server.
    Same error i get when i try to deploy application from Jdeveloper IDE though it created the server connection successfully.
    Please help me by provided valuable tips to overcome this problem or any special tips to optimize weblogic server for ADF.
    Thanks in advance

    >

    I hope for you that the information from the blog has changes in the meantime (blog is from end of last year). Check the current doc for the cloud ...

  • How to refresh a  region using Active Data Service

    Hi,
    I need to refresh the region using ADS.
    I am creating jsff which contains dynamic tables rendering. This jsff is bound to a task flow (having input parameter and refresh property set to "ifNeeded). The bounded task flow is dropped on a jspx as a region.
    Now in order to refresh the region, I need to pass the updated param value, which would cause the region refresh.
    I am able to do so on a button click from jspx page. But I have to make it auto refresh using ADS as per app requirement.
    The issue is "AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance return null..if I am using it in startActive Data or changeData Update (where I am using ActiveDataUpdateEvent)".
    Please guide me how can I achieve this.
    I am using Jdev 11.1.1.4.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    try a variation of this blog entry: http://matthiaswessendorf.wordpress.com/2010/01/22/flexible-active-data-service/
    Instead of showing a popup, you do the following
    1. set clientComponent=true for the hidden field
    2. configured the PartialTrigger property of the region to point to the hidden component
    If this doesn't work then try this
    1. use <af:clientListener type="propertyChange" method="activeDataCallback" /> as used in the sample
    2. define an af:serverListener that points to a managed bean that has access to the region (RichRegion) instance
    3. The af:serverListener needs to be defined as a child of the outputText
    4. change "activeDataCallback" to queue the server listener event (CustomEvent)
    5. Use the managed bean to refresh the region

    Solved it on my own.
    The sso from Java->ABAP was OK
    I reconfigured the sso from ABAP->JAVA by creating new ABAP certificate and import it to the J2EE.

  • How to use  ADF application functionality in Webcenter Portal

    Hi,
    We have an separate ADF application with bunch of functionality that are been using in others applications.We have to use these functionality in the WebCenter portal.
    In this ADF application, each jspx page used for implementing different functionality(for example Calendar for one page, subscriptions for one page like that) and there are no bounded task flow used.
    Challenge here is, need to some how import the ADF application as reusable component (section) and yet to use different functionality (I mean accessing each jspx page)
    So, what are the ways we can utilize these ADF functionality in WebCenter portal? Let me know your thoughts?
    Any help really appreciated.
    Thanks,
    San.

    All,
    if you have WebCenter in place the best way is to use the ADF portlet bridge. You can create portlet entries at design time in JDev on each JSPX as well as on any TaskFlow definition (right click as mentioned above). That's quite convenient if you stay in the WebCenter / ADF world. You'll get the standalone as well as the portletized application so the standalone version will still be working. Mind that if you portletize an ADF Application you need to deploy it in a portlet runtime. That means you need to extend your ADF container with the portlet runtime. That requires a WebCenter license for the server since the portlet runtime is a part of the WebCenter product stack.
    In respect of SSO, after deploying your Portlet Producer App you'll get WSRP Webservices on application level for which you can apply OWSM policies (Enterprise Manager) so the identity of the portal will be propagated to the Portlet Producer App. Details can be found on WebCenter Portal Developer's Guide.
    Just to let you know that these portlets can be only consumed on Oracle's portals (be that WebCenter or Oracle Portal 11g). That's caused by some Oracle specific WSRP additions to the ADFPortlet Bridge.
    Jiri, what do you mean with "enhance it with portal features"? Oracle's portlet aproach is fully based on WSRP, means decoupling. So you cannot add portal features to the portlet. Everything has to be packed in request and response. There's no direct access to portal /portlet resources to interact with.

  • How to configure ADF application to use OAM Identity Assertion ? web.xml

    We have a web application developed using ADF (application development framework) and deployed on WebCenter 11.1.1.2 (weblogic 10.3.2)
    OID Authentication and OAM identity assertion is configured in WebLogic 10.3.2 .
    How to configure security in ADF application (web.xml or weblogic.xml) so that it uses OAM identity assertion (already configured as authentication providers in weblogic server)
    Any pointers or documentation so that application (developed using ADF) check for identity tocken and verifies it with one of identity assertion providers.

    John,
    I have to concur. With OAM you don't need this. OAM intercepts the calls and inserts a cookie for WLS to get user information from.
    I strongly advise to go through the above mention OFM Security Guide. Esp. Chapter 10 tells you in every detail how to implement OAM SSO with WLS (with or without OHS as a proxy).
    Reading this chapter saves you time and turnarounds on this topic...
