[ADF BC] How to create an entity association to get one child

I have two entities in a one-to-many relationship (say Employees and Employee_History). Each employee has one or more history entries.
What I would like to do is have an Employee view that contains all the attributes from the Employee entity and also an attribute (or many attributes) from the latest entry in the Employee_History entity.
Is there a way I can model this with ADF Business Components?
Things I've tried:
- adding SQL in the one-to-many association to ensure only one row is returned (does work, but affects other operations like creating a new employee record)
- creating a one-to-one association between the two entities (still returns more than one record)

Thank you Steve, that works great for the hire date, but what about when you need another column from the same record as that hire date.
Would you have to use a query like this?:
select DEPTNO, DNAME, LOC, (select max(firstname) from emp e where e.hiredate = (select max(hiredate) from emp where deptno = Dept.deptno) and e.deptno = Dept.depno)) as LAST_EMP_HIRED_NAME from dept DeptAt the moment I've been able to get it working like I want to (as far as I can tell) by referencing the child entity in the parent view and using a where clause in the view's SQL to reduce the rows returned, like this (using the example of departments and employees):
SELECT Dept.DEPTNO,
       Dept.DNAME,
       Dept.LOC,
       Emp.DEPTNO AS DEPTNO1,
       Emp.HIREDATE,
       Emp.FIRSTNAME
FROM DEPT Dept, EMP Emp
WHERE Dept.DEPTNO = Emp.DEPTNO AND Emp.HIREDATE = (SELECT MAX(HIREDATE) FROM EMP WHERE DEPTNO = Dept.DEPTNO)Testing this with the business components tester, it seems to work.

    You don't need to create an account.   Your use your Apple ID to log into Facetime.
    If you haven't already you will need to download the Facetime App from the Mac App Store.

  • ADF 11g How to create the custom FilterableQueryDescriptor for adf table

    Can you please let me know on the following.
    1. I am dispalying the adf table using a List from the managed bean
    2. I wanted to filter the table using the filter model.
    3. i wanted to create the sub class of FilterableQueryDescriptor which i can specify. Not finding enough information on how to create and add the information in the setFilterCriteria
    Can you please provide some insight into this topci

    Hello there
    I have the same issue: chaging the background color of some column headers.
    My application is using a custom skinning and when i had headerClass property with a custom class defined in a separate css file, the page generated specified first the class from the skinning and then my new class definition. But my skinning is specifying a background color so the color is not overriden. Any idea?
    ADF code:
    <link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="../../css/pivot.css" id="myStyles"/>
    <af:column headerText="#{level1.userObject.name}"
    headerClass="inputHeader"
    sortable="false" align="center" width="100"
    id="col_level1" >
    Generate HTML code:
    <th align="center" class="xuh inputHeader" afrroot="true" rowspan="2" afrleaf="true" dindex="6" id="pt1:tableId:col_level1" style="">
    <div class="x13t">AEKLF</div>

    My CSS file:
    .inputHeader{
    background-color: Red;

  • How to create PSI entity

    Hi All!
    I don't want to use bc4j persistance in my entity. How to create PSI persistance entity.
    Samples and documentation will be appreciated.
    P.S.Is it diffrence in deployment only?
    Mike

    Hi!
    Ok! Oracle have two implementation of cmp -
    BC4J and PSI. I don't like BC4J in any way...
    To change type of persistance You must change oracle deployment descriptor. Take as starting point oracle JVM samples (entities/customer)
    Find in doc theme about deployment descriptors. It's contain all information you need. As I say, type of persistance depends on deployement only. Nothing changed in code.
    Good luck!

    Hi Vineet ,
    You can use function module "SDIXML_DATA_TO_DOM" to convert the data in internal table to XML form. This function module is used to create the structure for XML document.
    After this you use FM "SDIXML_DOM_TO_XML".
    Hope this helps you!!!!

  • How to create combobox to display more than one columns

    I need kind help with the following question. As the combobox includes two pieces--textbox and the combobox list. Then how to create a combo box bean, which is based on table EMP(empno number(6), ename varchar2(40)) records for example, to achieve these features:
    1) allow more than one columns to be displayed in its records list--e.g., I need to show these records:
    empno (value) ename (label)
    103 David M Baker
    104 David M Baker
    105 Kelly J Volpe
    106 Krista F Carpenter
    107 Michelle P Silverman
    The two 'David M Baker's are different employees, but unfortunately, with the same name.
    2) allow combo box list to return the column value 'empno' even though it shows both columns as above. i.e., if user picks the second record above, then the combobox list returns 104 to the textbox in the background, but the 'David M Baker' is displayed on the textbox. Of course the combobox list may return 'David M Baker' if needed when there is only one column in the list as the current standard feature.
    3)allow partial match search by typing in some letters. i.e., if user types in the textbox of the combobox letter 'K' or 'k' then the partially matched records
    105 Kelly J Volpe
    106 Krista F Carpenter
    should be automatically displayed in the combobox list, not the whole list as above; then user may double click to choose one of the two or if user continues to type in 'R' or 'r', then the uniquely matched record 'Krista F Carpenter' is displayed in the textbox and the 106 is returned to the textbox.
    4) as a bonus if it's doable, allow combobox to return values to different textboxes when its records list has more than one columns.
    The reason I need these features is that I am working on the project migrated from Microsoft Access applications to centralized Java version web application. We at beginning promised to users community that Java swing will provide all the GUI user friendly features Microsoft Access has, but now we got stucked--we ate our words and got tons of complains from our users community. This is just the most needed component I posted here. I really hope that Java would add all the default GUI user-friendly features to compete with MS since its Win95 GUI has been accepted as industry standard. And most users are used to it. They claimed that they don't know and don't care what tool you use the newly created application should be more user friendly, not the opposite.
    I would be very much appreciated if any one would help me with this item.

    Thanks for your comments. I think nobody expects Sun to write everything including special features for its components. But I do think Sun should provide at least those standard user-friendly features for the GUI components because most users have been used to the GUI user-friendly features provided by Win95 and Access/Excel applications. Then this will help us to productively create applications to beat MS applications.
    Other wise like me, to get the existing GUI features, existed in old MS Access application, for our migrated Java application, I must re-create the GUI components library first which is a big burden to me at least, for others it might be fun for coding on their own from scratch, but I have to focus on the timing of project.
    If you really can pass the request to Sun and push them move a bit, please pass these words: before Sun starts to revise them, please play around window GUI, e.g., Access/Excel applications, then plan what to do, the bottom line is to equally match or better than them in FUNCTIONALITY(Look and feel is not my focus here). Don't ignore the influence of Windows regardless of you hate it or love it, the reality is most users are so familiar with windows GUI features which are accepted as industry standard. Thus the choice is to match or better to beat them. Don't make your car by closing your door, don't assume users will like what you come out in a closed room.

  • How to create a new FTP folder for a child theme for Word Press?

    Hello, I am getting hung up on creating a new ftp folder in OS X 10.5.8 in order to set up a child theme. Once I am in the ftp file listing <Go - Connect to Server> I'm not sure how to create the folder after that.  I've tried right clicking (external mouse).  Newer Macs seem to have an Add Folder button at the top of the page. Does anyone know how to do this?

    Hi laundry,
    I tried that but it didn't work.  I'm thinking I need to move in a different direction than the child theme option.  Maybe I'll need to do this further down the road when my blog is more advanced.  The Command +Shift+ N shortcut should work in other windows though right?

  • [ADF Help] How to create a view for multiple tables

    Hi,
    I am using Jdeveloper 11G and ADF framework, and trying to create a view to update multiple tables.
    ex:
    Table A has these fields: ID, Name
    Table B has these fields: ID, Address
    A.ID and B.ID are primary keys.
    B.ID has FK relationship with A.ID
    (basically, these tables have one-to-one relation)
    I want to create a view object, which contains these fields: B.ID (or A.ID), A.Name, B.Address.
    So I can execute C,R,U,D for both tables.
    I create these tables in DB, and create entity objects for these tables.
    So there are 2 entity objects and 1 association.
    Then I create a view object based on B and add fields of A into the view:
    If the association is not a "Composition Association",
    when I run the model ("Oracle Business Component Browser") and try to insert new data, fields of A can't edit.
    If the association is a "Composition Association", and click the insert button, I will get
    "oracle.jbo.InvalidOwnerException: JBO-25030: Failed to find or invalidate owning entity"
    If I create a view object based on A and add filed of B into the view:
    When I run the model and try to insert new data, fields of B can't edit, no matter the association is or is not a composition association.
    So... how can I create a view for multiple tables correctly?
    Thanks for any advices!
    Here are some pictures about my problem, if there is any unclear point, please let me know.

    Hi Branislav,
    Thanks, but the result is same ....
    In the step 2 of creating view object, I can select entity objects to be added in to the view.
    If I select A first, and then select B (the "Source Usage" of B is A), then finishing the wizards.
    When I try to create a new record in the view, I can't edit any properties of B (those files are disabled).
    If I select B first, and then select A in crating view object, the result is similar ...
    Thanks for any further suggestion.

  • ADF Faces - How to create an editable rich table at runtime

    Hi,
    JDeveloper version - 11.1.1.4.0
    I have been trying to create an editable table (wherein the user can enter text into the input text boxes contained in the columns added at runtime). The values thus entered are to be captured in the backing bean for further processing.
    Below are my attempts to achieve this in various ways but without success.
    Attempt 1 : Created a Read-Only Dynamic table by dropping the view object instance from the Data Control. Here, the default being output text components, I used input text components and programatically make it updatable in the backing bean, which however, shows as an output text component.
    1) UI - .jspx file
    <af:table rows="#{bindings.TestViewObject1.rangeSize}"
                        fetchSize="#{bindings.TestViewObject1.rangeSize}"
                        emptyText="#{bindings.TestViewObject1.viewable ? 'No data to display.' : 'Access Denied.'}"
                        var="row" rowBandingInterval="0"
                        value="#{bindings.TestViewObject1.collectionModel}"
                        selectedRowKeys="#{bindings.TestViewObject1.collectionModel.selectedRow}"
                        selectionListener="#{bindings.TestViewObject1.collectionModel.makeCurrent}"
                        rowSelection="single"
                        id="t1"
                        partialTriggers="::cb1 ::cb2"
                        binding="#{TestDynamicTable.t1}">
                <af:forEach items="#{TestDynamicTable.attributeDefns}"
                            var="def">
                  <af:column headerText="#{def.name}"
                             sortable="true" sortProperty="#{def.name}" id="c1">
                    <af:inputText value="#{row[def.name]}" id="it1"
                                  label="Label 1"
                                  autoSubmit="true" />
                  </af:column>
                </af:forEach>
              </af:table>2) Backing bean -
        public void listenMeForAction(ActionEvent ae) {
           //adding attribute dynamically
          ViewAttributeDefImpl def = (ViewAttributeDefImpl)vo.addDynamicAttribute("testDynamicAttr"+columnCount);
          def.setUpdateableFlag(def.UPDATEABLE);
         byte b = def.UPDATEABLE;
         def.setEditable(true);
         //def.setProperty(def.ATTRIBUTE_CTL_TYPE,);
         //def.getUIHelper().HINT_NAME_UPDATEABLE
         def.setProperty(def.ATTRIBUTE_DISPLAY_HINT_DISPLAY, def.HINT_NAME_UPDATEABLE);
         columnCount ++ ;
         AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(this.t1);
    Attempt 2 : Created a ADF table by dropping the view object instance from the Data Control. Here, the columns and its cells are added programatically in the backing bean. However
    1) UI - .jspx file
    <af:table value="#{bindings.Test5ViewObj1.collectionModel}" var="row"
                        rows="#{bindings.Test5ViewObj1.rangeSize}"
                        emptyText="#{bindings.Test5ViewObj1.viewable ? 'No data to display.' : 'Access Denied.'}"
                        fetchSize="#{bindings.Test5ViewObj1.rangeSize}"
                        rowBandingInterval="0"
                        id="richDynamicTable"
                        binding="#{TestDynamicTable.richDynamicTable}">
    </af:table>2) Backing bean - When the buildRichTable method is invoked from the constructor, the table shows the input text boxes as required, but the entered values is not getting retrieved (). Tried adding a valuchangelistener to the added cell, but this does not fire as well.
    Below code however, creates a new instance of RichTable. Also, if an overloaded method is invoked on an ActionEvent, the columns added are not displayed.
      //called from costructor
      public void buildRichTable() {
        dynamicVO.clearCache();
        //create this table
        richDynamicTable = new RichTable();
        int noOfCols = 2;
        for(int i=0; i<noOfCols; i++) {
          //create new column for the table
          richDynamicCol = new RichColumn();
          richDynamicCol.setHeaderText("ColTest"+i);
           // richDynamicCol.isVisible()
           // richDynamicCol.setVisible(arg0);
          richDynamicCol.setParent(richDynamicTable);
          richDynamicTable.getChildren().add(richDynamicCol);
          richDynamicTable.getChildCount();
          richDynamicTable.getRowCount();
          richDynamicCell = new RichInputText();
          richDynamicCell.setLabel("aCell"+i);
         // richDynamicCell.isVisible()
            MethodExpression methodExpression = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getApplication().
                                                                      getExpressionFactory().createMethodExpression(
                                                                        FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getELContext(),
                                                                        "#{TestDynamicTable.inputBoxValueChangeListener}",
                                                                        null,
                                                                        new Class[] {ValueChangeEvent.class});
          //this does not work too - on adding some text and tabbing out
          richDynamicCell.addValueChangeListener(new MethodExpressionValueChangeListener(methodExpression));
          richDynamicCell.setParent(richDynamicCol);
          richDynamicCell.setValue("#{row.ColTest"+i+"}");
          richDynamicCol.getChildCount();
          richDynamicCol.getChildren().add(richDynamicCell);
         dynamicVO.addDynamicAttribute("ColTest"+i);
        //dynamicVO.insertRow(dynamicVO.createRow());
        dynamicVO.getRowCount();
       AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(this.getRichDynamicTable());
       AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(this.getRichDynamicCol());
       AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(this.getRichDynamicCell());
       buildTable = false;
       this.setDynamicVO(dynamicVO);
    //captures the input data
      public void captureRichTableData(ActionEvent ae) {
    //gives null below
        this.getDynamicVO().getCurrentRow().getAttribute("ColTest0");
        this.getDynamicVO().getCurrentRow().getAttribute("ColTest1");
    //again null
        List<UIComponent> listCols = richDynamicTable.getChildren();
        for(UIComponent aColComp : listCols) {
            RichColumn aCol = (RichColumn)aColComp;
            List<UIComponent> listCells = aCol.getChildren();
            for(UIComponent aCellComp : listCells) {
              RichInputText anInputText = (RichInputText)aCellComp;
                anInputText.getValue();
      }Not sure what I must be missing. May be I need to add bindings to the text boxes added but cant figure how to go about it. I found some posts on dynamically adding columns pointing to displaying contained data. Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks for your time.

    Hi,
    Not too sure if I am heading the right way, but tried adding the bindings and value expression at runtime for the added columns. The values added at the screen is again found null at the VO and RichInputText child / cell. The updated method is as below -
          buildRichTable() {
          //adding binding for the added cell
          DCBindingContainer bc = (DCBindingContainer)BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry();
          if(bc.findCtrlBinding("ColTest"+i) == null) {
              bc.addControlBinding("ColTest"+i, new JUCtrlAttrsBinding(null,
                                                     bc.findIteratorBinding("Test5ViewObj1Iterator"),
                                                         new String[]{"ColTest"+i}));
          //the expression to be set in value attribute for richInputText component
          String theExpression = "#{row.bindings."+"ColTest"+i+".inputValue}";
          //setting the expression
          richDynamicCell.setValueExpression("ColTest"+i, getValueExpression(theExpression));
          richDynamicCell.setAutoSubmit(true);
          richDynamicCol.getChildCount();
          richDynamicCol.getChildren().add(richDynamicCell);
        dynamicVO.addDynamicAttribute("ColTest"+i);
        dynamicVO.insertRow(dynamicVO.createRow());
        dynamicVO.getRowCount();
        AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(this.getRichDynamicTable());
        AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(this.getRichDynamicCol());
        AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(this.getRichDynamicCell());
       buildTable = false;
       this.setDynamicVO(dynamicVO);
      private ValueExpression getValueExpression(String theExpression) {
       FacesContext fc = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
       Application app = fc.getApplication();
       ExpressionFactory elFactory = app.getExpressionFactory();
       ELContext elContext = fc.getELContext();
       return elFactory.createValueExpression(elContext, theExpression, Object.class);
      }It would be great help to have any leads.
    Thanks,

  • How to create dynamic entity beans at runtime (experts welcome)

    Hi,
    i have a question that i have been trying to figure out however i am still in search of an appropriate solution and thus ask you experts for guidance...
    I am developing a system to house data using ejbs.. however a have a problem i am trying to make the system very dynamic and some of the data that i am trying to store is dynamic in its nature..
    let me explain: i am searching for a solution that would allow a entity ejb to have a dynamic set of properties
    e.g.
    DataEntity could have one or many attributes but those attributes may be string, string, int, int
    or could be int, int, int
    or long, long
    or double..... or any configuration
    this DataEntity would linked to a TypeEntity that would act as a reference to know how to store and retrieve data..
    I have just come across JMX and dynamic Mbeans, and at first glance this seemed like it may be able to help but after further research i think this handles a different problem than i am facing.. (however might be wrong?)
    At the moment i am using toplink as the OR mapping but have also jsut started looking into hibernate..
    So far all i have come up with is to have a FieldEntity as a mappedsuperclass and have sub classes such as IntFieldEntity, LongFieldEntity.... which simple contain one field i.e int value, or long value..
    . and have DataEntity have a one to many relationship with the field superclass..
    the problem with this is how this gets mapped
    my ideal solution would be to have a dynamic DataEntity which could be generated at runtime and have all the required attributes for the particular type..
    so DataEntity would be a mappedsuperclass and then at runtime new types of DataEntity's could get spawned, database table created and OR mapping created linking?
    e.g.
    DataEnity1
    String attribute1;
    String attribute2;
    int attribute3;
    DataEnity2
    int attribute1;
    int attribute2;
    long attribute3;
    Has anyone ever created a structure like this or seen anything like this before?
    any advice would be appreciated
    regards,
    fg

    You cant add controls to the visual tree a runtime which persist beyond the lifetime of the application.  You will have to persist an indicator to your program which tells it to add the control.  Adding a control is as simple as initializing
    it and adding it to a parent already on the tree.  Controls can be created programmatically or using the XamlReader.Load static method.  You can find XamReader.Load in Windows.UI.Xaml.Markup in windows 8.1, Windows 8.1/Windows Phone unified
    projects.  For old windows phone ad just Silverlight I believe it is in System.Windows.Markup.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to create new file association

    Hello,
    I have a program that uses the .pez file extension.
    Now I want to change the association so that it is opened with my desired program.
    Therefore I tried:
    xdg-mime default prezi-desktop.desktop application/pez
    However, this does not work. The .pez file is still opened with Fileroller on Gnome 3.
    How do I associate new file types with an application? The program prezi-desktop is not visible in the "Open with" menu. Hence, I cannot change the file association with Gnome.

    Hi there, I refered to this wiki page: Default Applications
    Scroll down and you'll see an section titled "Gnome 3".
    Basically you can try running
    gconf-editor
    and tinkering with settings there.
    Or the more lower-level solution is to dig into either if these files
    /usr/share/applications/defaults.list (global)
    ~/.local/share/applications/defaults.list (per user, overrides global)
    Hope this helps!
